Ninety-one years ago, I stumbled upon a window to a strange new world. Beyond, there were blue skies and odd trees, and flowers like nothing I’d ever seen. Curiosity got the better of me, and life as I knew it changed forever.

Ljómur was the military’s best kept secret. Behind those walls, I was experimented on and studied, torn apart and put back together. Caged, collared, and stripped of any sense of identity I once had.

A lifelong prisoner.

Now I’m free, and my former hell has been destroyed. Every bar that once confined me lies in ruin, yet I still can’t escape my cage.

It’s been a month since we discovered what the military was trying to do, and since I swore to bring the group to the rifts. Ever since, I’ve been living in fear of the day they’ll call on me to fulfill that promise.

No one knows better than me what’s at stake, but most days, my mind is not my own. When I’m lost inside my thoughts, only one person is able to reach me. Reyes breaks through the clouds and pulls me from that dark place in a way the others can’t. He tells me I still have something to give, but I’m not so sure that’s true.

I’m just a broken thing, after all, and those can’t always be fixed.

Author's note: Nyx is a First Person Dual POV MM Monster Romance series with explicit content intended for readers 18+. It is the second in a series that will have an overarching storyline carrying between books. While this series ends with a guaranteed HEA, individual books end on more of a HFN basis. The feature couple's story will be resolved, though there will be some unanswered questions and mild cliffhangers that lead into the next in the series.

G. Eilsel

G. Eilsel started writing under this pen name in early 2024, publishing works in two genres she loves: eccentric novellas and MM romance.

Her writing puts a focus on sarcasm, snarky humor, sometimes horrible puns, and steamy scenes that'll make your momma blush. Expect heavy spice, in any sort of variety you're looking for-sweet, emotional, depraved, or downright questionable.

Some of her books are one-handed reads with minimal plot, others are more intricate stories that weave themselves through her brain and demand to be put on paper. Angsty and emotional, light and giggle-inducing, and everything in between can be found between the covers of her books.

She doesn't take herself too seriously, throwing pieces of her humor and quirky personality in her writing. If she can't live up to her title of a One-Handed author, then maybe she can at least make you smile.

i don’t know if im about to cry or throw up. like i almost killed myself reading this. but in a positive way!!

first of all, let me tell you something: i basically didn’t breathe anymore after the 80% mark. i was so scared that my sweet little baby nyx would suffer again that i genuinely couldn’t get enough air in. (i also have bronchitis right now, but that’s not important)
and we all know that g can make us suffer like nobody else.
did she do it here? i don’t think so, however im still traumatized after elas, so i was expecting it either way. i still felt all the anxiety without a sane reason, which is honestly what i do every day.
g, my queen, let’s keep the anxiety to this level, please.

well, let’s talk about the book.
actually, no, we have something more important to talk about first.
why the fuck haven’t you read ronan yet?
no, i don’t care about a reply. go read ronan, then elas, then nyx, then come back here and thank me.
love you!!

now, onto the book.
this author outdoes herself every single fucking time. i already knew that i would’ve loved nyx with all my heart, that i would only cry knowing what he went through and how he overcame it. so, no surprises there.
i was ready to love nyx and endure reyes.
is this a safe space to say that (up until elas) i couldn’t stand him? yes? no?
well, i’m saying it anyway.
like, i couldn’t stand him so much that when g announced that he was the human mate, i texted my friend taylor to complain. (i’ve never claimed to be smart)
boyyyyyyy was i wrong.
a chapter in and reyes quite literally punched me in the face with his perfection.
sure, he might be a bit weird at times, but he’s a MAN. like, read this:

"I'll teach you the plants I know, and you can teach me their names in your language."
"I... teach you? My words?"
"Your words are important, too," I say softly as his eyes shimmer and move up towards the sky. "Why should you be the only one learning something new?"

however, if i had to write down all the times i got up and applauded him, i would transcribe the entire book.
that’s how wonderful he is.

i genuinely loved every single minute of nyx quiet healing and i can’t wait to read this again.

and, of course, i am so excited for the next book!!

i’ve read an arc and this is my honest review🧡

I really enjoyed the emotional journey that Nyx and Reyes go on in this story. They are both haunted by their past while dealing with their fears and hesitations about going forward with a one-in-a-lifetime connection. Overall, this story hit me in my feels. Nyx is one of the purest souls, and watching him slowly open up to Reyes and learn to believe and trust in his mate was so heartfelt and beautiful to see. I couldn't get enough of these two and look forward to the next entry.

God I don’t even know where to start. I think I’ve highlighted a million things in this book, and all of them are so freaking sweet that my teeth hurt after reading this. Nyx needs to be wrapped in a triple layer of bubble wrap, and he needs to want for nothing. This man is an absolute angel and nothing bad needs to happen to him ever again.

To be honest, I didn’t know how to feel about Nyx and Reyes being mated before I started this book. I just wasn’t sure if they were a good fit. Past me doesn’t know shit about fuck. They are the very best pair ever. Reyes is the king of consent and respect and support and devotion and probably a hundred more things. He is the absolute best thing for Nyx, and I hate that I doubted it. I loved them both so very much.

This is 100% a slow burn, which is not usually my preferred trope. But, this story literally couldn’t have happened any other way. Nyx has gone through sooooo much. You think he would’ve just jumped in the sack with Reyes at first glance? Yeah, no. Reyes definitely knew he loved him at first sight, but he had to go slow. They had to build trust and friendship, even after their marks showed up. It was such a beautiful thing, though. Like the pacing was absolutely perfect. There’s so many emotionally intimate moments between the two that just make you tear up. And because of those moments, when they did get physically intimate, you’re full blown crying. They have the best relationship.

All the other moments with Nyx and the other characters are just as sweet. Like teaching him English, how to read, funny jokes, cooking vegetarian meals just for him, etc. Nyx has the support and love he deserves after so many years of pain.

The ending of this book is amazing. The author has set us up for the next one and revealed some awesome things, and I literally can’t wait. As much as I love all the characters, I am so invested in this story as a whole, and so excited to see what she does next.

arc review (out nov 13th)

I swear, G. Eilsel is going to destroy me one of these days. But first, can I marry your brain?

Once again, I’m amazed by how perfectly balanced the plot and romance are in this series. I loved every single moment of it, even though I spent the first 20% smiling, the next 50% crying, and the final 30% smiling again. Nyx and Reyes’ story is one of a kind—a beautiful story about unconditional love and pure devotion. And the found family vibes? Chef's kiss.

Nyx, my sweet Nyx—I’m so happy you found Reyes. These two adorable souls truly earned their happily ever after.

And now it seems G heard my prayers, because the next book will be , my most anticipated baby! I can’t wait! 💖

Mate’s Mark is definitely my highlight series of the year. 🌟

Never have I ever read about a couple that was so soft and gentle with each other 🥹
Unlike Ronan and Elas, the first two books in the series (which you gotta read first!), this book is a lot more chill in terms of plot. Instead, it’s super focused on the slow-burn, high-sweetness romance between Nyx and Reyes as they settle into their lives in their new home.

Nyx is seriously SO SWEET. Like, every character in this book would go to war for him, and I would do the same. He’s so lovable!!! Despite the terrible things he’s faced in his past, he’s such a gentle soul. And the way Reyes treats him like he’s the most precious being to ever grace the planet!!! Ugh I loved them. Sickeningly sweet! 😍 they had so many amazing moments of physical, emotional and spoken intimacy.

This book also does a great job establishing the characters from the previous book as side characters, which I really enjoyed. I’ve always been a big Roman fan, but this book made me love him even more!

Though this book didn’t progress the overarching plot much, it added some good setup, and definitely had me itching to find out what’s next!! This book also really further established the setting and characters, and endeared them to me even more. There were a lot of funny and “smiling at my kindle” moments in this book as well.

I really enjoyed this instalment in the series. This author puts so much effort into her books, and even does art for them!! So cool!

Definitely make sure to read the first two books in the series, and pick up Nyx on November 13!

Nyx & Reyes - ugh. I just want to squish them both. I knew I was going to love Nyx's story. I fell in love with him in Ronan and Cameron's story & couldn't wait to get to know the little nymph baby.

His story has a lot of heartbreak and pain but also is very tender and sweet. Somehow G. Eilsel was able to toe the line of pain. She gave just enough and then soothed the ache with the tender sweetness that is Reyes. I was emotionally edged in the best way.

Something I didn't expect though to come out of all of this was my undying love for Elas. I thought for sure Nyx was going to take the crown and while I still love him and would go to war for him. There is something so endearing about the blue giant that I cannot get over. There's a moment he shares with Nyx that is so devastatingly beautiful I sobbed for him, for them all, for everything they have all gone through and will continue to go through. And while I didn't expect this to turn into a wee bit of a love letter to Elas, here we are.

There is something so special about this series. I will continue to keep with me. Each story just brings a bit of healing I didn't know I needed.

Xeni is up next and the little snippets of his backstory that were shared in the end, let's just say I will be waiting on tenterhooks for his story.

A MM monster romance which is heartbreaking with its hurts but heals with sweetness & comfort 🥺. It has size difference, slowburn, found family, & love that blooms with lightness.
I had been so freaking excited for Nyx & Reyes' book! N's been through too much, my baby 😭, he deserves to be cherished by his fierce mate R 🥰. I loved them! I was waiting to read my #ARC at the perfect time but it became a balm to my soul when I felt sick 🥺❤️, I savored this. Adored seeing everyone again! This book is more characters' focused, has HFN for our couple & Plot cliffhanger.

💚Nyx is a Drüinae, prisoner #1. He's been captured most his life, so long he doesn't know how to be free now. N makes me ache, he's so sweet & cute but feels broken 🥺. I loved seeing him blossom. His sass, pouts & bravery are amazing!
🌼Reyes is a Human. R thinks of himself as a coward, but is a survivor. R's snarky, stabby (😂), short-tempered but absolutely gentle, kind & so patient with N. I loved his teasing, devotion to N & N's choices. R's the gardener of our crew 😁.

It was obvious how R was such a goner for N 🤭, N liked R too. They love nature but are hermits & awkward around eachother 😅. It took coaxing & time, but I loved them slowly open up & be happy together 🥰.

We got edged with them finding out they're fated mates, but what a dramatic reveal 😉. Hurt, past & flashbacks 😭... but not much relationship angst. They're sweet, & heck ya, eventually hot 🥵 too (gotta love monster anatomy lol 😳). I was wishing nothing bad happens, N's been through too much, R too 😢.

I loved R's protectiveness for N & when it's N's moment to shine, omg lit ✨. There were moments that had me tense, & that climax omfg 😈. Btw, I like revenge. We've got new peeps added, & I'm so curious about Xeni's story & the nature of mate marks! G, I agree with your choices & I'm excited what's next. I was glad we got to see Elas (& Ron) healing too ☺️.

Story Ratings:

"People too often think the best way to infiltrate a broken mind is with brute force. They want to bore inside with forced conversations and constant noise, but sometimes, you need the silence to heal."

I loved Nyx - I loved it so, so much. I don't think there could possibly have been a better third instalment in the Mate's Mark series, I really don't. It physically hurt in the best possible way and I desperately want more. I could read a thousand stories set in this little camp and never be tired of them.

I’ve been preparing myself for Nyx’s story ever since we first met the scared, sweet Nymph in Ronan. You'd think I'd have been ready for the heartbreaking, gut-wrenching tale G wove for him, but I wasn't. I wanted so badly to protect him - to wrap him up and feed him snacks, while simultaneously curb-stomping everyone who had ever wronged him.

"I w-want, and I don't know how to have. I have never had anything."

Nyx was more than just a dystopian monster romance, and I absolutely loved that. It dealt with some really, really heavy topics like captivity and extreme confinement, depression and suicidal ideation, anxiety, PTSD, torture and slavery, just to name a few. Each topic was handled with sensitivity and every bit of dialogue surrounding those themes and thoughts was written with the intention of showing survivors that they are safe now, and that what they think and feel and need is being heard.

Reyes said it best when he said "a giant piece of me is dying to bundle him up and keep him safe… wrap him up in blankets, feed him snacks, and just spoil him until he forgets he wanted to do this. But his choices matter more than mine, and I’ll never steal those."
I appreciated the hell out of Reyes for the space he gave Nyx to start healing, while still showing him unconditional love every moment of every day. He gave him the room to start trusting again without babying him or making him feel like he owed anyone a fully healed version of himself. They each found a safe home in the other and it showed.
Even before they knew they were Fated Mates their softness towards each other, juxtaposed with their fierce protectiveness of their relationship and of each others lives was beautiful. Both Reyes and Nyx deserved someone who would stand up for them and have their back no matter what, and the mark on their skin only heightened how much they cared for each other.

"I'll teach you the plants I know, and you can teach me their names in your language."
"I... teach you? My words?"
"Your words are important, too," I say softly as his eyes shimmer and move up towards the sky. "Why should you be the only one learning something new?"

The truly beautiful thing about the Mate's Mark series, and especially Nyx, is that the pain and the suffering that the characters experience, while still there and still raw, doesn't at all eclipse the happiness they've managed to find with their mates. One of the quotes that I really, really loved was "Nyx could be angry for a lifetime, and it would still be righteous.". Reyes' simple acceptance of the time it was going to take Nyx to even begin to heal was so lovely to read. The romance never negates the pain - it's not treated as a cure-all. The feelings of love and pain co-exist beautifully to give us a truly well-rounded, well-written characters.

And speaking of well-rounded: the balance between the plot, the romance, and the spice was fantastic. There wasn't a single moment when I felt like the story dragged or had too much/too little of one thing or another.
I loved how well the little domestic moments and the slice-of-dystopian-life scenes meshed with the anxiety-inducing action scenes. I was holding my breath for the last third of the book because I knew Eisel was going to put my sweet little monster and his human through the absolute wringer. And was I right to fret? Yes and no. She gave us some absolutely heart-wrenching moments, but then kissed our boo-boo's better and popped a little Katsurrel coloured band-aid over them to last us until she does it again with Xeni.

Another thing I really I loved was that no one was forgotten as the story progressed. Our main men from Ronan and Elas weren't relegated to useless side characters simply because their story had been told, they were still an integral part to the overarching plot. But they also didn't detract from the important roles Nyx and Reyes play in advancing the story. I'm so nervous and excited to see where their plot goes. But I'm going to absolutely riot of any of these characters (and I do mean ANY) end up in emotional or physical pain again. You hear me, Eisel? Consider all of them a no-touchy zone from now on. And y'know what? Include Xeni in that. If he gets hurt in his book I'm going to... well, I'm definitely going to cry.

I feel like I've just waffled on and not articulated my feeling very well, but I can say with absolute certainty that there was nothing about this story I didn't like. The characters, the plot, the magic - it was all perfect.
Y'know how sometimes you're desperate to see what happens next in a book series and you build it up so much in your head that when you finally read it it's not as good as you were expecting? That didn't happen here. At all. Eisel has outdone herself, she really has. I can't wait to read Xeni's book. I'm nervous as hell for it, but that's what I get for falling in love with side characters.

5/5 stars. I feel the same way about this book that Nyx feels about strawberries.

Have a parting quote:

"I stretch both arms towards him. Reaching for him... always reaching for him, and he always reaches back."

Oh, how much I missed this series 🥹

I was so ready to learn more about our special Nyx, who endured so much. He possibly is the strongest soul in this little group of humans/monsters, although we have yet to learn from the other couples as well.

Reyes is the perfect match for him, he is such a patient gentleman, always putting Nyx's needs and well-being first ❤️‍🩹

Since this is an dystopian world, where monsters control most of the world and every day is a fight for survival, you can expect lots of action. The mates that are found in this stories definitely add romance and lots of spicy-time, so you have the whole package 😍

I cannot wait for the next book ✨️

I was fortunate to receive an advance copy of Nyx. I’ve been so anxious to see how his and Reyes’ story unfolded. I knew it would be heartbreaking finding out all the details of Nyx’s past - 91 years in captivity 😢 I’ve never been so happy for a slow, gentle, and patient love story. Reyes was exactly who Nyx needed (love how Ronan eventually admitted that lol). With the ending, I’m definitely excited to see what happens next with Xeni and his mate! Also, I’ve got my eye on Aryn… 👀 I think it’s great they are extending their “family” and sharing resources with others in need. Hopefully the new additions will prove to be a good move.

Love this series so much! 💕

i have never hated reading the word “epilogue” as much as i hated it here

ever since ronan pulled this “hopeless, caged hummingbird who has lost his will to live” from his cage i’ve been head over heels in love with nyx and his gentle soul

his book, much like nyx’s life is aching, painful, and heart breaking. this makes it all the more healing when reyes shows up to love him. because this isn’t JUST an epic love story. these two are fated mates in the deepest and truest sense of the word. these are two people that the entire cosmos conspired to unite. and through every glance, kiss, gentle touch, and whispered word between these two you can literally *feel* their love spiraling out through time and space, past galaxies, and out into infinity

out of all the fated mates reyes and nyx feel like they’ve been together since the universe popped into being

they are exactly what the other needs. reyes give nyx the safety and unconditional love our little green man he’s been cruelly deprived of ever since he stepped through the rift, enchanted by the sight of a beautiful patch of eye-riss. and nyx gives reyes a reason to be courageous and brave, after a lifetime of thinking himself a coward. they fill each others blank spaces, and heal each others deepest wounds

i can’t say enough good stuff about this book. it’s just as engaging as ronan and elas’s story were. which is no surprise—eilsel writes beautifully. it’s just a fact 🤷🏻‍♀️ she practically apologizes for the lower level of spice in this book as compared to her others. but it felt *right* to not have them hop into bed in the first quarter of the book. so, yeah, the spice level is lower, but the *heat* of the spice that IS there… scorching 😮‍💨

so, i was sad to see it all end. i could read a whole spin off of this book alone. give me a duology… a trilogy… fuck, give me 14 books with special edition covers, bonus chapters, character art, and decorative slipcovers, and i will buy—and love—every. single. one.

read this. please. start with ronan, and then elas, because these aren’t standalones, but every step of the journey is worth it. eilsel is walking us toward an ending that is sure to be explosive, awe inspiring, and exquisitely satisfying. and i, for one, intend to take her hand and follow wherever she leads me

Guys, we have a new favorite read of the year! 🥹💛
I honestly can’t put into words how much I love Nyx and Reyes. These two are just perfect for each other — two souls who found one another despite (or maybe because of) all the pain they’ve been through.

Nyx… my heart. He’s such a broken soul, far too good for this world. The meaning of the dandelion fits him so beautifully — strong, resilient, yet still full of hope. I wanted to jump into the book and just hold him so many times because he deserves all the love in the world. 💛

And then there’s Reyes — another walking green flag! I adore his patience, his understanding, and the way he gives Nyx the space to heal. He’s exactly the anchor Nyx needed, and together they help each other find peace again.

And stones and flowers as a love language?? My heart couldn’t handle it. This book was emotional, healing, and absolutely beautiful. I swear, I was a puddle of feelings by the end.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The greenest of green flags

G, you are the whole a$$ for writing this book! I laughed, I cried, I scrumpt a lot and my heart ached. The brokenest of boys made for each other. I honestly didn't know where this book was going to go with Nyx' past and what we know about his life before being saved but I was along for the ride.

I loved it and absolutely cannot wait for the next book. I especially loved seeing Nyx find his voice and his sass. He'll soon be giving Cameron a run for his money.

My favorite book in the Mates Mark series so far!!! I was lucky enough to be on the ARC team for this book, and the story blew me away.

Nyx and Reyes were such an adorable wholesome couple. Reyes worships the ground Nyx walks on, and they heal each other in such a profound way.

Awesome found family story, lots of hurt/comfort moments, and many firsts for our sweet Nyx.

I can’t wait to see where the rest of this series is going!

Nyx has been my favorite character from the moment he showed up. I love him so much and I am so glad he gets a wonderful mate who is soft and sweet with him. I love the strength he has to forgive Xeni because I also love him. The overall plot for thjs series has been super interesting. This book progressed it but not by all that much because this one had to focus on healing Nyx and I think that was perfect. I loved this book so much.

Nyx is the third book in the Mate's Mark series. This series is best read in order because of an overarching storyline. This is the story of Nyx and Reyes. This book was hard to put down once I started. Nyx was such an amazing character and watching he and Reyes was the chef's kiss. This story had me crying but also gave me hope. This whole series will tear you up but also put you back together even better than you were. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book and series as 5 star reads.

From book one the 1st time I read about Nyx I knew his story was going to break my heart. Never will a character be able able to hold the same place in our hearts as our sweet and beautiful Nyx has stolen. This book made me laugh. It made me cry to the point of having to set it down and wipe my eyes. Reyes, I am so happy he was given a piece of this story. His kindness, gentleness, and love for Nyx shined through every page, and theirs was a match made perfect.

I love how this entire world keeps building more and new characters come, but past characters are always still there not to be forgotten.

One of my most anticipated books of the year.
Did not disappoint, and I'm so excited to read Xeni's story next, but until then, may we all be granted a wish upon the dandelions.

The slow burn nearly killed me and the love between Nyx and Reyes was so beautifully written. So sweet and so perfect, just like them. I really enjoyed getting to know the other characters as well and the new ones were a good addition as well, I cannot wait to see what's next. And that ending....ahhh! How does this series just keep getting better??

I’ve been on the edge of my seat for Nyx’s story since his first appearance in Ronan. I couldn’t wait to get a book from his perspective and this was everything I wanted it to be. The soft, slow burn of felt perfect for this story and for this point in the series. These two are so sweet, I just want to squish them. I was very grateful that no real drama happened in this, Nyx (and all of us) definitely deserved a breather.

The hurt/comfort in this was everything. We were already given an inkling in the last book of Reyes’ feelings for Nyx but the obstacles in their way seemed insurmountable. Watching their relationship slowly unfold as Nyx grew in his confidence was completely wonderful. I honestly love these two to death.

I’d also like to add that this book was unexpectedly funny considering some of the subject matter that it tackles. Reyes’ inner monologue and Nyx’s language mishaps were hilarious.

Another great entry to the series and I can’t wait for the next one.

It was interesting for a while, but after a while it felt like the meetings between both characters just repeated themselves over and over again. There was also something that did not make sense for me related to Nyx's communication in English. Sometimes he barely managed to say a full simple sentence without stopping because he didn't know the words and then other times when he told about his past, he spoke long full sentences, using harder words and had absolutely no issue or stopping because he didn't match the words correctly.

ARC review:
My poor baby Nyx. I was so looking forward to his story while also dreading it at the same time. I absolutely loved the direction G Eilsel went with his story. Reyes and Nyx were just absolute mushiness galore. They were sweet and intimate. Even once you got to the spicy scenes they still held that intimacy to them. Hearing Nyx’s story and getting his feelings was heartbreaking. He deserves all of the peacefulness and love in the world. He deserves his quiet forests and Reyes’s muffins. Also(!) I loved the little snippet of the fact that NYX had met Boomerang years prior to Cameron having her. The banter between Ronan and Reyes was *chef’s kiss* hilarious. Had me cackling in basically every scene with those two. Looking forward to Xeni’s story and to see what happens between him and his mate. I have a feeling it’s going to be stress inducing chaos.

MC's:
💚 🪐 🌼 🍓 ✨ 👉 Nyx (+100 yo • He/Him)
👾 Monster species: Druinae - a peaceful class of healers with nature-based magic.
🌿 Moss-green skin and eyes dusted with golden freckles. Long pointed ears, waist-length strands in shades of green, and always bare feet. Shorter than most monsters (around 5'0"). "He’s like a tiny emerald beacon," Reyes thought. 💭
❤️‍🩹 He was imprisoned and experimented on for decades... first by humans, then by monsters.
Yet he remains gentle, kind, and deeply empathetic despite his trauma.
🧁 A little shy but learning to tease and be bratty in the cutest way 😂. Seeing him slowly gain confidence and self-worth was incredible.
💚 Everyone adores him... especially his 'Katsurrel', Reyes. 🥰

🌎 🌼 🩵 🗡 👉 Reyes (Late Twenties • He/Him)
👣 Human. Dark curly hair, warm brown eyes, deep coppery skin. About 5'9" and never intimidated by monsters twice his size.
🗡 Always has his knife and that "stab-first, ask-later" energy 😂... my stabby sweetheart!
❤️‍🩹 After years living alone underground, he’s touch-starved, quiet, and craving connection.

⚠️ Content Warnings:

💫 Found Family (growing stronger with each book)
👏 Fantastic Character Development
💯 Side Characters I Adore - Every Single One
🥰 Loved the Ending
😍 HEA for the MCs & HFN for the Overall Storyline

🎨 Cover: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars

💬 My Thoughts:
😍👉 As always, G’s dedication was beautiful and profound.

🌼 I loved the first two books, but this one completely stole my heart and made it ache in the best way.
Nyx and Reyes’s story is full of gentleness, pain, and deep care... a quiet storm of emotion and tenderness.

🌼 Reyes sees Nyx for the precious soul he is, the only one who can reach him when he dissociates or shuts down.
The way Reyes approaches him with complete patience and tender care (both physical and emotional) absolutely melted me 🫠. These two are soulmates in every sense of the word. 💚

🌼 I adore every character in this series and want to know everything about them... their pasts, their hearts, all of it. 💞
I laughed so much... Ronan and Reyes are a whole comedy duo 😂... and Cam is still an absolute menace 😂🤣!

▪︎FAV QUOTES▪︎
■ “He’s as flighty as an injured bird, eyeing the sky like he’s yearning to fly. Forever poised to escape.” – *Reyes*

■ “He stares at me like I’m the thing he orbits — the sun he circles, and the source of his light. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted.” – *Reyes*

■ “My heart pounds inside my ribcage. It used to be nothing but a black void, but now it’s filled with light and sound and color and laughter.” – *Nyx*

■ “Everybody likes me.” Nyx bumps me with his shoulder. “I am… what is this word? Cute. I am cute.” – *Reyes*

👍 I’m definitely going to read this again.
💯 If you love MM fated mates, monster romance, and emotionally complex characters wrapped in dystopian chaos and delicious spice… you’ll adore this one.

I do not know how to review this one without being all over the place. It was so good. So so so so so good. Good in ways I had never expected when I picked up this series. I was only supposed to see what the fuss was about, alright? I was just going to try it out. I wasn't supposed to... well fuck. How did I fall this in love with a story I didn't even think I would like?

I don't know. But I do love it. And I love it so much it HURTS. It physically HURTS.

I picked this series up because of a character art I saw of Nyx and Reyes on the author's Instagram. All I wanted then, was to see what kind of character this beautiful green creature was. The post stated I should read the first book first, so I did. With hesitation. And then I liked it. A lot. And then, the characters found Nyx. And I fell in love with Nyx from the very second we met him. Don't get me wrong, by then I was smitten by pretty much every other character we had met through the first book (okay, not the bad guys, obviously, but you know what I mean), but oh did I fall for that sweet, pained, utterly destroyed soul, and then we got to see even more of him in the second one, and I knew that hey, I need to accept that apparently I'm into monster books now. Who would've thought.

My sister had to listen to me and my friend (who I forced to read these books, too) gush about them on a car ride that for her turned out very long. And she was horrified. Monster? Really?

Yeah. Really. Fuck me.

I'd set the whole damn world on fire for the characters in this book.

Fuck. Me.

I'm rambling. Again. I don't think my reviews will ever help anyone because it's just me vomiting words about... nothing really.

Anyway.

Nyx.

Sweet, precious, darling Nyx. I'm glad the author gave him a softer book. He deserved it, so much. Still with a lot of pain, don't get me wrong. You will cry reading this. I cried so much I gave myself multiple headaches. But oh was it worth it. The book is a wonderful mix of beauty, pain, banter, humor... all the good stuff. The relationship between the characters is so perfect. I'm sitting here trying to find words that will actually make it justice, but I can't. It's just. The perfect group of friends. FAMILY. The most beautiful found family you'll ever experience. And they all just. Belong together.

I can't. I'm making myself cry again.

Can't forget Reyes, he's also hurting, and I love how he and Nyx found each other. They both deserve each other so much. Their love language, rocks and food. Their little treats, the way they take care of each other. How they speak to each other, how they both want to make sure the other won't break. I know I say everything is beautiful, I'm like a damn broken record here, but it really is beautiful. They are so good for each other. So good that even Ronan has to admit it. Grumpy babe. Can't have been easy for him to say those words.

God I love them. All of them.

I need to stop rambling. I'm gonna go and very impatiently wait for the next one. The character I bothered the author for more of before I had even finished the second book. God I'm happy she'll give us a book for him too. I can't wait.

Back to crying. Probably forever.

Read this. I won't say you won't regret it, because you likely will like 20 times through the whole book, but it will be worth it, I promise. So do read it. And thank me (and hate me) later.

I adored this book and this entire series has me on edge. I am eagerly awaiting the next one. This series has a lot of the things I love so much lately, a world destroyed when monsters stepped through a tear in the universe between the human world and theirs, 'monsters' finding their mates in humans, found family and friendships, redemption. Honestly this is on par with another series that has some similar happenings and I love it and the characters we meet within more with every book.

The journey both Reyes and Nyx go on in this book had me clenching my fists, fighting the need to cry, smiling so bright, it's just wonderful. I was insanely curious about Nyx from the minute we met him and this book absolutely did not disappoint. He went through so much, endured so many horrible, brutal things and remained the sweetest, most gentle being and finally he gained something he'd longed for for so long and deserved so much, the fiercest and yet most gentle mate he could possibly ask for.

Reyes was so good with him, so perfect for him and everytime he stood up for Nyx, protected him or allowed him to step forward and do that for himself had me screaming with joy. He's probably my fav human in this series so far now and I adored him so much. The way their mate mark turned up was super sweet and soft too. The others were also but there was just something so gentle with how theirs manifested that made me feel this wave of emotion. It was wonderful.

The world building in this series is so fantastic and captivating, the characters are all so different and yet so interesting and wonderful, the writing is easy to read, well written and really keeps you absorbed and the action and drama in both this series and this book in particular is just so good.

Nyx gains strength even he didn't know he had and that moment was utterly engrossing. Reyes is so strong, their love for one another and for their friends and family left me wanting more and yet completely satisfied at the same time. The grit and drama in this one is dark and a little bloody and it was all done so so well. Really excited for the next one, I definitely can't wait to own this series and put them on my shelf because I want to read them over and over again!

ARC review for Nyx by G Eilsel

Thanks to G Eilsel for the ARC opportunity!

What to expect: found family, romantasy, fated mates, caretaking, banter and snark, hurt/comfort, monster/human, possessive MC, slow burn, book pet

Content warning: the author includes a comprehensive list at the beginning of the book. Check it out for full details.

Review: Infinity/5

So, for my ARCs, I normally do "Things I liked" and "Things I disliked or missed the mark" to summarize for review readers my thoughts while also trying to make it simple to decide if a book might be for them while it's still so new. I can't do that for this book because I loved every. damn. page and I'd be sitting here typing for days. Every sentence, every word, was vital to telling this story and it is done SO beautifully. We all know sweet baby Nyx has been through it and that he needs someone to simply love and support him. And damn does he find that someone in Reyes. Quietly sweet but loudly stabby, Reyes is prepared to go toe-to-toe with anyone, human or monster, who threatens the freedom Nyx has finally found. And it is beautiful, absolutely beautiful, to read. And, all of this while still getting glimpses of the couples we've already met and love along with crumbs leaving us feral for the next books PLUS moving the overarching plot along, answering questions and posing some new ones. It's truly spectacular writing and I will continue to scream about this series to anyone who will listen. I laughed, I cried, I screamed, I giggled, I awwww'd so audibly my husband asked what I was getting all worked up over when he was literally on the other side of the house.

So, all's that to say, read this book. If you haven't read Ronan and Elas yet, pick those up and read them now, and then read this book. Beautiful storytelling with the banter and snark you expect in a G Eilsel book and honestly, what more could you want? One million stars, forever obsessed.
