Climbing the 46 High Peaks
Written By Sheryl A. Campbell
Nonfiction

The author takes readers on her inspirational and suspenseful personal journey as she pursues her goal to climb all 46 High Peaks in the Adirondacks. Her journey is emotional as well. The author’s story reinforces that it is never too late to set a goal for ourselves and achieve it.

Sheryl’s story is an inspiration to all of us no matter what goal we set for ourselves. We should always be aiming higher.

“The view is beautiful.
But who I became on the way up is even more extraordinary.
And in it all, I learned how to find the extra in the ordinary.”

As someone who is attempting to hike all 46 high peaks in the ADK mountains, I really enjoyed this book. At times I would’ve like more specifics about the hikes but overall I really liked reading about her journey. The only way the Bills can make it back to the Super Bowl is through this book lol.

I knew her first as an excellent yoga instructor. I also knew she had, like so many of us, been through her challenges in life. Then she was called to find herself climbing the 46 High Peaks in the New York State's Adirondack High Peaks. Here she faced rugged terrain, hours and hours and miles upon miles of hiking up and up these mountains. This is a woman with incredible resilience and determination. For each mountain she has a story, a message and questions for the reader. She offers her statistic for the peak: time, miles, steps, etc.

The book can be a primer on taking on this challenge (not a technical guidebook) and what to expect. Having completed about half of these peaks some years ago, I know the challenge as well as the love for these mountains. Sheryl's memoir is engaging, powerful and entertaining all at the same time. She is also a devoted Buffalo Bills fan and carried their pennant flag on all of her adventures.

Thanks Sheryl for a great read and inspiration!
