Adapting is a word Dale Michaels has become familiar with. As he settles into his new life with the Tah’Narian starship captain Keyno, Dale has adapted to life with an alien, space travel, and having his body mutated so he can carry a young. He’s closed the chapter on his old life.
Living on Tah’Nar, Dale has a loving mate and good friends. He’s helped cement peace with the Onfre. Sure, being double-dosed during his harvest led to some serious drama, but that’s over. Dale’s happy.
But life is never that simple.
Even though Dale loves Keyno, he still struggles with the way the Tah’Narians harvest young males as mates. Dale finds himself hijacked by his own body, courtesy of his extra dose of Tah’Narian DNA. Then there’s the devastating secret his mate, Keyno, has hid all this time. And if all that isn’t enough, outside forces threaten to rip Dale’s hard-won peace apart as well.
Join Dale for a non-stop adventure and a love that crosses several worlds and transcends space.

This part of the story focused on Dale and his friends getting pregnant, their Tah'Narian mates losing their heads over it and tying up loose ends. It was sweet, slightly humorous and filled with everything babies. I enjoyed Dale and Keyno's relationship progression, the shenanigans that the mates got into and that little bit of tension that made this book not too sweet but just right for me. I liked that Dale got resolution in regards to his human life and how he turned things around for everyone. I guess he was that fresh set of eyes that was needed to help iron out the kinks that the Harvest program had and make the best it could be. I enjoyed Colt and his relationship with Dale, the dichotomy between Colt the vicious killer and Cielo loyal brother and friend. I think the fact that all of the couples were featured made this book so good for me - the diversity of species and their customs was a lot of fun to read about. Good ending to their love stories.
After really enjoying ‘Taken’, with aliens from Tah’Nar abducting human men because they need mates to procreate, I was looking forward to reading ‘Journey’s End’ even more. In large part that is due to the wonderful main characters: bratty Dale who never shuts up, and his Tah’Narian mate, starship captain Keyno who has no idea what he’s gotten himself into when he picks Dale as his mate. Their relationship did not get off to a smooth start, what with Dale being forcibly abducted, double-dosed with Tah’Narian DNA to cure his leukemia, and now expected to bear young for Keyno. But even by the end of the previous book it had become clear to me that Dale and Keyno are very much in love, and that Dale getting used to Tah’Nar was going to be an exciting experience.
And what an experience it turns out to be. From the entirely different environment and advanced technology, to Keyno’s fascinating home high up in the trees, Dale goes from one astounding event to the next. He meets every new challenge with his characteristic humor, sarcastic comments, and sometimes amazingly well-placed insights. He still talks and sometimes acts before he thinks, much to Keyno’s amusement, and once he is pregnant - oh boy! The descriptions of his physical changes and his difficulty dealing with things he never expected to have to deal with were very amusing in their own right. But since nobody, including the Tah’Narian doctors, really knows how his pregnancy will work, there were many surprises to go around for everyone, keeping them – and me – amused and in suspense.
With Keyno turning out to be the perfect mate, including a secret he should have shared but didn’t, the relationship between Dale and him deepens all the time. They have issues like any mated couple, and I loved watching them deal with everything that was thrown their way. Their friendship with the Tah’Narian ex-enemies, the Onfre, causes some issues, but neither Dale nor Keyno let anyone else’s opinion sway them away from the Onfre spaceship captain Ti and his mate, ex-gang leader Colt.
All in all, this novel is a fast-paced adventure that kept me turning the pages. But it is also a deeply emotional love story between two men from very different backgrounds. And adding in all their friends of various mixed species and their various abilities certainly made for a very colorful and very diverse world. I loved every minute of it!
If you like your science fiction on the wild side and spiked with plenty of humor, if you enjoy reading about humans adapting to a new, very different world while getting used to being mated to an alien, and if you're looking for a space adventure with suspense, some very hot interspecies bedroom activities, and great friends supporting each other all the way, then you will probably like this novel as much as I did. It’s funny, brings Dale’s adventure from book one to an excellent conclusion, and has some adorable mixed-species babies beginning to explore their world. Too cute!
This was even better than the first book and I loved that one too. Their world was so interesting and I never wanted to put my Kindle down because I wanted to find out what was happening with everyone. I loved the friendships and how tight they were with each other. I don't really want to give anything away, I didn't want it to end. It's funny SF wouldn't be my first choice when picking a book but like I've said before because I love M.A. Church's writing style I have no problem reading them or at least hers ;-) I really want more from this world, I never got bored and it kept me hooked until the end.
Holy crap, this was even better than the first book.
Dale and Keyno are so damn sweet together. I love the way all their friends care about each other and become like a close-knit family. I won't say much more because I don't want to spoil anything. Just take my advice and read this series.
Lots of questions I have... WHY is everything Dale so different? Yeah yeah double dosing.. but I still felt like he was a big factor in other pregnancies becoming successful. Why the voices in his head during pregnancy and what the result of that was?
While thinking back in the first story that the relationship that evolved with Colt and Dale probably was a bad idea considering how/what Colt was.. after the fact, I am going with I like their friendship and caring.. but NEVER would have guessed that anywhere near first introduction.
Lots of babies introduced... some even gave me the idea of them possibly being mates themselves but at this point its highly unlikely we'll actually see that go anywhere.
Honestly, this one took me until about halfway through to really warm up to it. :(
Another reviewer mentioned "a lot of telling and not enough showing" and I have to agree, but... along about the "twofer" the story really started working for me and things were great from there! I loved watching Keyno and Dale's relationship grow and of course, watching everyone find closure about their harvest, one way or the other, was an enlightening part of the story!
I was, as always, drawn to the young/babies/bebes and what a surprise to find out that there is a Next Generation series that follows them into adulthood! :D
I am a huge mpreg fan so please, don't mind me... but this is an awesome sequel to an amazing story and I am sooooo happy that Dale gets to realize his life as a Tah'Narian and as a father. But there is a but...
This sequel is really all about how the Chosen men adapt in their new life and with new DNA. They share the experience of their bodies changing, of societies not necessarily loving them, more like, tolerating them and of some bigoted few who go all war like and seek to destroy their very presence.
It is not the fault of the Chosen they were chosen to be mates of a people or species who had to make changes in their DNA in order to continue surviving. Because of a war, there is no choice but to seek other humanoid forms to bear their young and so, Dale and the others are it. And they do get preggers and experience so many changes they are confused and afraid. Especially Dale whose double DNA dosing did some weird mambo jambo to his body making him a unique individual who could be feared or be the answer to the existence of the Tah'Narians.
Unlike the first book, this focuses on the lives of the Chosen as I stated before so there are a whole set of stories going on here. Some are connected, some are not, but basically, all tell what their lives are like and so prepares the reader of an eventual sequel (if there is) of more Chosen coming in and getting their chance of happiness at a family life.
I am a bit disappointed though that the focus of this story is all about them and not about the world itself or the promise of a better life in another planet. We are left with an ending that is open and hanging and if there is a third book (hint, hint) I would love to know how they would go about their new lives there in that new settlement or how the new recruit of Chosen adjust to their own changes. If this is really the end? I would be devastated for I have so many thoughts and questions left unanswered.
I loved the follow up to the first story. Everyone is pregnant and happy!!! I really enjoyed this one, I'm going to be sad if this is the last book. I really enjoyed the couples coming together helping each other. This was no exception from my first reaction of the first book. It was sweet, endearing, a little teary at times. I thought Keyno & Dale was so sweet at times. Even Colt changed his ways. I hope we get something on Kia because he became my new favorite alien ever!
As usual Dale & Keyno run into some problems and boy does it cause problems between them two, but with the emotions running high, the waddling, and the high tree house it doesn't last long. I was truly happy with the outcome and predictions for all the couples, especially Chad & Gibor on their pregnancy. What sealed the story for was the decision to return to Earth to visit their parents, I loved how fidgety Keyno was with trying to please Dale's family. I liked how respetive Dale's parents were to the twins. I am pleased with this one alot.

I really enjoyed this book. I know it's far from perfect but it kept me entertained and I think I was just in the mood for something totally different.
If you haven't read Harvest: Taken you definitely need to read that book 1st. This book takes place immediately following it and continues on the journey of Dale, Keyno, and their friends as they navigate continuing to expand their circle of friends, welcoming children into their lives, and continuing to experience all the chaos that seems to follow in Dale's wake. Poor Dale can't catch a break. The double dosing has insane side effects as the book continues to reveal.
The 1st book is an introduction to the characters and the world that they live in. The 2nd book is to show the joys and struggles as the continue to grow as individuals and as a group. Close friendships are high lighted in this book because I think that is what makes Dale and Keyno unique, they have a tight circle of friends that they seem to want to experience life with. But life has its bumps and so does the relationship in the book. Never fear is wraps up rather lovely and you aren't left wanting anything but the stories of the kids(which several of these books are out and you should definitely check them out). If you loved the 1st book you can't go wrong with this one. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the crazy ride that is "Damnit Dale"
This is the second book in the series, so if you haven’t read the first one, start there! For me, this story built beautifully on the foundations laid in the first one— it’s fascinating to see Dale and Keyno move through some major life and relationship milestones. Dale is a compelling character whose tendency to say exactly what he thinks, along with his humor and insight, make him fun to read about. There’s pregnancy, relationships with friends and each other, and the legacy of exactly how their relationship came to be, all against the backdrop of an imaginatively drawn world.

What to expect when you're expecting an alien baby.
No, really that's pretty much this book.
It's a slice of life with pregnancy, babies and all the romance novel tropes to fill a full bingo card.
Only everyone's an alien and everything is also simultaneously peachy and no real bad things happen.
There was some attempt at conflict but uh.
It was an attempt. 🤷
And by gods we are not here to read about anything more heart stopping than pregnancy cravings and sore ankles. And worry not dear reader, the author has got you. They do not disappoint!
And yes the baby making is sprinkled in between the pregnant parts. Wouldn't be mpreg with the process that leads to it all!
The first book set us up with Dale and Keyno getting together and this one explores more about how Dale adjusts to his new life, his new reproductive desires/abilities and how the friends they have are also adjusting to childbirth and parenthood. We get more information about the world of the Tah'Narians and there are surprises in store for Dale both from his mate and in the outside world. There are relationship bumps along the way, but things resolve nicely and we are set up for the next series about the children being born in this one.
As I said in my review of The Harvest book 1. This is the first book series that I have read by M.A. Church, and I have to say that I love her writing style and the characters and world that She has created. I am looking forward to reading the next series that She is writing that follow the characters children from this series.
What a fantastic follow-up to the first book. I’m so angry at myself now for having waited so long to read this book. Ah well, I have now and I love all the couples and their young: Dale and Kenyo (Raiden and Szin), Chad and Gibor (Doya), Ti and Cielo (Takeo), Doc and John (Neo), Malk and Kia (Laken), and King Duran and Jolek (Hamza).
I found this continuation of Dale, Keyno and their friends journey is just as good as the first I really enjoyed reading about Dale going through his pregnancy and what it does to him and Keyno along with their friends. I Really Dis Enjoy Reading This and Can't Wait To Read It Again!!
M-preg is so weird even if I really love reading it. So if you like m-preg (and lots of it) this is the book for you. There are like...all the mates introduced... that are knocked up and it's really about how they handled the thing that's the plot of the story.
There's some kind of space pirates thing for a bit but that lasts all of five pages and even then it's about the young.
This was a great end to the first book . And barely any mistakes as well the spice was pretty good and I absolutely loved watching the relationships blossom the way they did John and doc stole my heart as did Chad and gibor and of course dale and keyno heck all of the couples did
Enjoyable read just wish the kidnapping and the fact every mate was forced to leave their home wasn't brushed over so much. Honestly how quickly everyone moved passed being forced into relationships/kidnapped was the most unrealistic part of these books. Plus, how the were on each other by page 88 in the first book was a little wild lol
Loved, loved, loved. Only thing was I wish I could read more. I don't want the book more drawn out because I think it's paced pretty perfectly. I would just love to see a longer full length novel come from the author with this concept
Why is it so funny when other people give birth screaming at their mates and said mates are hysterically unable to deal? Lots of ground...uh, space covered in this book.
I love this alien mpreg duet. Dale and Kynoe were a fun pair to get to know. And one of my favs is always an interesting and diverse ensemble cast of characters. I wish the author would write more in this universe.
