Brandy Jeffus Corona has always been a writer, even before she could wield a pen. She would dictate her stories to her mom who would type them on a typewriter. Thus began Brandy's love affair with the written word.

She is a wife and a mother to two awesome kids. Her best friend in the world is her mother. She's a true Texan, loving the Cowboys even when they suck and uses the words 'y'all' and 'fixin too'.

She reads more than she writes, volunteers at church, her children's school and with Girl Scouts and sometimes she spends too much time on Facebook.

I will post my review soon..need to wrap my head around this amazingness.
okay here is my best shot at doing this great book justice:
I was given an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I almost didn't read this and that would have been a terrible tragedy, I loved this book from beginning to end with every page and chapter better then the last. This is my first book by this author and what a fantastic first impression I was given, also from what I understand this is not the typical genre she writes but I would have never known.
I love how the story started off before the world went to hell, giving a good picture of tge lives of the characters before it all went down. I can't recall reading a zombie novel that gave a front row seat into how the virus was started and this one dud just that and it was done in the most brilliant way...vampies! I thought that was a fabulous idea and getting to have zombies and vampires in one story was crazy cool and refreshing. The multiple points of view made it so much more exciting especially in the beginning when time frames bounced as well, I could not stop reading wanting to get to one chapter and then the next to get info and action.
The characters in this book were by far the best part I want to be invited into this wonderful group that call themselves family after all they have survived and I would even put up with the zombies if it ment I got to be included, most of all I want to be near Will, I am very smitten by him, his strong body and heart and I'm jealius of the girls lol. The rest of the group is also amazing in their own way, vampires included and I really can't think of anyone I disliked well okay maybe the army but thats to mych info to share now you will just have to read and find out and believe me you should read it.
I am very thankful the author gave me a copy this book was overall fantastic and lovers of tge zombie/vampire genre will agree I guarantee it.

I got this ARC for and honest review...

Like all of the books that I read from Brandy, I go into them no knowing what its about. I have to say that going out of her element with this one was very well done.

Having 2 of my favorite sci-fi creatures in this book made it an excellent story. With the way the zombies came about was a very interesting theory that has my husband wanting to read this book.

I would love to be able to use the Katana and be a survivor, but in reality I would probably be one of the first to go. Just like Myra, helping someone and getting bit and glamored and then going after my husband. He would put me down for sure. LOL!!

I love the relationship that the Vampires had with the survivors. It made me think about how it might be if (and when) this ever happened. It was very bold of Lexi to step up and start doing what her father did before her with Will. After all it is in his blood.

The idea of it lasting a little over 5 years makes a lot of sense. After time and weather things do decay and waste away. We are no different especially if we were Zombies. Think about it.. The way she portrayed them and the stench that they put off was very well put in my opinion. You know they had to stink to high heaven.

In the end it was good to see that people from the beginning that lost their loved ones were about to move on and start new lives. Thats what we all hope for our loved ones is to be happy and not dwell. Even better that even though not a lot survived, people still did.

And I agree with Will, “Well I don’t want a pansy a.. president who ran away at the first sign of trouble. Who’s probably been sitting on his a.. eating filet minion and having running water, while every else is fighting for their life.” Who would?

All in all this is a very good book and I very very proud of Brandy for going out of her element with this one. Keep up the good work hunny!!!

“To everything there is a season, a time for every matter under heaven; a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to weep, and a time to laugh, a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to keep, and a time to cast away”

Midnight Outbreak isn't a book I would have read usually, because of the subject: vampires and zombies aren't my thing. That being said, I did enjoy this story. There are plainty of characters but it's easy to follow each one of them and their stories.

I had the feeling all throughout the book to read something from The Walking Dead but in a different way. Although the descriptions of the zombies made me sick to the stomach countless times.

When it lacks of explanation about how the situation describes in this book gets to the point it got (and I'm not the only one to wonder, even some of the characters did), it's written in such a way that it is easy to follow. The flow is good.

I have a soft spot for the vampires, I would have loved knowing more about them. Especially Sienna. She looked like to have some bagages and with her witty behaviour, she was the character I loved the most. Like Will, for the humans, how did he become a vampire hunter? I'm really curious about it. He was the one I fell for the most. I didn't have any connections with Brendan but Will and Josh ^^ And these two guys together, what a combo. While Josh was some role model to all of the characters, Will was the fighter. They complement each other very well in that way.

Thank you to the author for letting me read this story. It was a good change and a nice journey through an unknown universe. And I know it was a new genre that she explored so thumbs up for this, because it seemed to be a real challenge and she did an honorable job with it.

If there's a chance to read more about these vampires and Will, I'm in ;)

I want to make a few points before I start my review. 1) this is not one of Brandy's regular genres 2) this is not one of my regular reads. With that being said, here goes.

I really enjoyed it. It starts off with a normal couple in everyday society. There is a sickness that is going around. Like the flu.

But, its not. And its created by a vampire that went a little cray cray on a dead human. Not a sparkly vamp either. So because of said vamp, welcome to the zombie apocalypse. Because of that mistake, the couple mentioned above is torn apart.

This book has so many characters in it, that the review would become an entire essay to define. So, I will try to make it even a smaller summary.

So starting the apocalypse, a group of neighbors and friends set off to a ranch to survive. While out there, they find other survivers and family. They also find a group of vampires. One of the vamps in particular is the daughter of the vamp that created the zombies. But, because of the guilt, they end up helping each other.

It turns into a survivalist book, a hunting book. A new army is created that needs men, so they take the most able ones away. Then, they make the ranch a compound. So the rest are left to hide the vampires. Which happens to go bad.

This was an amazing read. I wasn't sure I was going to like it as much as I did considering there was hardly no romance involved. but I did. Great job Brandy!

Received an ARC for an honest review.

First off I have to say that with all the books I have ever read I have never read a book about zombies. This is a completely different genre then what Brandy usually writes about, but she wrote the heck out of this book. There were a lot of different characters in this book and usually I don't care for that cause it gets confusing but Midnight Outbreak wasn't like that at all. I thought the story was very well written and I was able to keep up with everything that was happening. I really liked it and I liked how different of a book it was. If you like zombies and vampires this is a must read for you!

I have read his authors books and this is not the usual. That being said I really enjoyed this book, I do like this genre so it was easy for me to get into the story

To start a group of neighbors and friends set off to a ranch to get through this like a home base , and meet others trying to live through this apocalypse. Not your normal vampires and It is really written well as you get into the book kind of a real life survival book but with so many characters with their own story. Brandi has woven a story that is dependent on all the characters I suggest this book highly

I received and ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, and I have to say that I really enjoyed this story. It was quite original for a zombie book. I like the fact that it also had a twist on the vampires as well. The writing was very well done and it kept my interest the entire time. I totally recommend this book to all zombie lovers. You will be entertained.

An interesting take with a mix of paranormal with vampires but also with the zombies how a zombie outbreak might have occurred.

This book definitely had its own unique Twist on things and I enjoyed the storyline.

I received an ARC of Midnight Outbreak in exchange for an honest review.

Midnight Outbreak is very different from Brandy's other works, but shows she's capable of weaving an entertaining story in multiple genres. Although I do read a lot of paranormal books, I haven't read many zombie books. This book puts a fresh spin on the whole zombie apocalypse theme, which has become pretty popular lately with shows like The Walking Dead. The story flowed nicely with a nice combination of action-packed scenes and interpersonal conflict between a group of survivors and their every day struggles in this new world. Not only is it a story about survival and rebuilding, but it's also a story of different people coming together and putting aside their prejudices to help one another out. Mari was instrumental in bringing these two groups of people--the humans and the vampires--together, and she was also one of my favorite characters. Her character goes through the most startling change in the book.

Midnight Outbreak covers everything from the very beginnings of the zombie outbreak, to the main characters taking refuge in the country and their every day struggles to survive, to the eventual and inevitable involvement of the military in the fight against the "dead heads." There are some time jumps in the book, some of which I felt happened too quickly, glossing over things I would have liked to have read about in more detail--especially toward the beginning. I would have liked to have seen more conflict between the vamps and the humans when they first joined forces.

Otherwise, a very entertaining read! If you like zombies, vampires, action, and stories of survival even in the toughest of times, you will love Midnight Outbreak! This is Brandy's first foray into the paranormal genre, and I hope it's not her last!

Argh. This had a fantastic premise. I love the idea that a zombie outbreak is caused by an errant vampire, overcome by thirst and feasting on an already dead body. It even makes sense! It is also new to me - now that is something that seldom happens these days.

Sigh.

Sadly that is where the good stuff ended. Often when I read self-published work, it seems to have a special voice, one that is quite high pitched and seems to go up on every sentence like it is ending in a question. That voice hit me pretty quickly when reading this.

Zombies are the best metaphor for all that can be wrong with society. They are depraved, vicious, violent, horrific, but never as bad as a sector of society left functioning. If you are going to write a zombie novel, you must be willing to write this. And this book is amazing for brushing over it. Oh it is touched on briefly when the men head off to fight and the terrible behaviour of some is alluded to. But it is never more than alluded to. And that is where it falls down. Whenever it looks like there might be some struggle, some actual drama, a real fight - there is a ... 1 year later. And for any real zombie lover, that just does not cut it.

I finished it, but only because I have to. It certainly wasn't the story - it needs, aside from some guts, a massive edit (from spelling and grammar errors to things that just do not make sense). It also is crying out for a reason to care, even the romance is uninspiring if you wanted to go that way.

So all up, disappointing. I can see that the author has some great ideas, she now needs some decent beta readers or something like that in her editing process to ensure that there is some depth and genre reality to her writing.

This book was a totally new ballgame for me so I kept putting off reading this book because I just wasn't sure how to feel about it. But OMG I am so glad I finally read it!! It was an awesome book filled with action, a little romance but mostly kickass characters. Between trying to understand how this plague took over the world to the relationships that were being built i did not want to put this book down.

This is a completely different take on vampires and zombies that will chill you to the bone a bit. I was shocked and intrigued how this plague started and continued for so long.

The characters that Brandy created were strong, honest, and just badass. She did such a great job putting together the relationships and the story to keep you wanting more.

Bravo Brandy and I look forward to reading more of your work.

*I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an HONEST review*

This was a completely different take on some of my favorite creatures than I’d read before, and it was awesome! This book had everything: monsters, love, heartbreak, loss of innocence, blood shed, etc. It was a lot of fun, and I finished it in a few hours. I recommend it for the monster lovers and apocalypse junkies out there, like me.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. For starters, the characters in this book were well fleshed out. I felt as if I really got to know each character. I did feel that the book was far too rushed, and I would have liked more of the story. There were a few grammatical errors, but not enough to interfere with the flow of the story.

Don't pass up this reading experience!

I'm a pretty big fan of characters with originality and this book did not disappoint... it went above and beyond the borders of my expectations! Original story ideas and great writing make it difficult to put down. I hold a new respect for the "vampire" angle introduced in this zombie novel. I look forward to reading more from this author!
