After the best one-night stand ever, I discover the man I thought was perfect is anything but. Leo Rodgers is an arrogant surgeon who lords his expertise and experience over everyone. Well, not me. I’m a competent nurse who refuses to be pushed around. By anyone. So I flirt with him to annoy him, but there are more fish in the sea than Leo. I have no problem getting a date with a man or a woman when I want one. The problem? I find myself increasingly hung up on a cranky surgeon, whose soft moments with his two children give me hope there's a good man under the arrogance.
Leo
Quinton Li is a pain in my ass. After our disastrous but oh-so-memorable one-night stand, I find myself having to work with him. His flirting is driving me nuts, so I can't be blamed for snapping at him. What part of one night doesn't he understand? My ex-husband once tried to tell me that I was a pompous asshat. On the contrary—I just have no time for trivia. I need to be skilled and focused so my patients have the best chance of survival. One devastating loss, though, sends me spiraling. Suddenly, I’m realizing how fallible I am. And that by rejecting Quinton, I might’ve lost my best chance at finding happiness again.
Quinton’s Quest is an enemies-to-lovers, interracial, age-gap, grumpy/sunshine, single father, small-town gay romance novel. This story has a grumpy, egotistical surgeon and a sunshine, sassy nurse who might just give him his comeuppance.
Gabbi lives in beautiful British Columbia where her fur baby chin-poo keeps her safe from the nasty neighborhood squirrels. Working for the government by day, she spends her early mornings writing contemporary, gay, sweet, and dark erotic BDSM romances. While she firmly believes in happy endings, she also believes in making her characters suffer before finding their true love. She also writes m/f romances as Gabbi Black.
Quinton’s Quest - Gabbi Grey Narrated by Michael Dean 5/5✨🌟

When I saw that Gideon’s ex was getting a story, I knew I had to read this book. Redemption characters are my all time reverie because they just make you fall in love with that character you swore to not enjoy, but when it makes you feel so many emotions, you just cannot help yourself.
I love how the book starts when Quinton finds out that the best one night stand he had is with the most arrogant surgeon he has ever met. I love me a good grumpy/sunshine pairing an Quinton and Leo.
Leo is Gideon’s ex husband and man, I didn’t think I was going to love his character but you can’t help when you learn more about him as a person and as a doctor.
My favorite scene was when Quinton watched the kids. That whole scene from the car seat to his mom - ugh, that whole scene was perfect. That’s when I knew that from the books I’ve read that these two might be my favorite in the series even though I haven’t read them all.
I also loved it when Quinton sought out Leo after a lost patient. That whole scene was so emotional because that’s when we really dive into Leo’s past. Perfection.
I love me a good found family and this book hit all the good spots. Gabbi did such an amazing job of making me, once again, fall in love with another one of her books.
I received a copy of this audiobook and this is my honest review.
It was a good book. Leo had a whole new life and he didn't think there would be time for another person in it. He loved his children and his job, and he put a mask sometimes to protect himself has best as he could. Quinton was the funny and extrovert guy, everyone knew him and liked him. He fell for Leo and he didn't saw it coming. They were a couple that at first you couldn't see the pairing but the more time you saw them together, the more you understand
Quinton's Quest is a warm, heartfelt romance about second chances, unexpected connections, and learning to let go of old wounds. Quinton, a sharp‑tongued but deeply compassionate nurse, is stunned to discover that his unforgettable one‑night stand is actually Leo—the new surgeon at his hospital. Their rocky start gets even bumpier when Quinton overhears Leo making dismissive comments about nurses, leading to a fiery confrontation that’s as funny as it is honest. Despite their best efforts to keep things casual, the chemistry between them keeps pulling them back together. As they spend more time with each other, the layers start to peel back. Leo is juggling shared custody of his two kids and carrying a heavy load of guilt from past mistakes—both in his marriage and in how often work has kept him away from his children. Quinton’s warmth and steadiness become exactly what Leo needs, especially when a tragic loss at the hospital shakes him to his core and exposes how harshly he judges himself. Quinton and Leo complement each other beautifully: Quinton brings sensitivity, humor, and grounding, while Leo brings vulnerability and a fierce devotion to the people he loves. Watching them grow into a real partnership—one that includes kids, family, and healing old hurts—is incredibly satisfying. A lovely, character‑driven romance with heart, humor, and two men who truly make each other better.
Let's just start with the important bit. Coming of 'Leo's Lust', the bridge to this sixth book in the 'Love in Mission City' series.I was not to keen on Leo his story. Then again everybody shouldd be given another chance so why not him. We get a bit more background how he came the man who is now. Que Quinton. He is the key to get Leo to do some more self reflection and works on becoming a man who dares to be more than a father to his two children, and a very driven
Quinton Is such a wonderful character. He has a big, inclusive and caring heart. He never did not met a person who could not be a future friend. He, a bit reluctantly it seems, finds Leo is more to him and he is invested to build on what they had that one time.
I really like how this story developed. Bonds are built (back up) with friends and family (found) or not. A marriage, a grandma who never thought she would become. Most of all I adore that Gideon and Leo jump over their own shadows to grant even more parental figures and family for the kids.
Narration by Michael Dean As with the previous books, I thoroughly enjoyed Michael his work for this series.
Quinton is a nurse who finds out his fabulous one night stand was with a new surgeon at his hospital. He overhears Leo putting down nurses and gives him a piece of his mind, then his friends reminds him he’s called doctors arrogant.
Try as they might not to, they keep hooking up and actually learn more about each other. Leo is sharing custody of his two children with his ex, and carries guilt for mistakes he made with the ex and with working too much so he doesn’t see his kids.
Quinton meets the children, Leo meets Quinton’s Mom, and it being a small town, the exes and new partners all meet each other. A lot of wounds are healed, especially when Leo loses a patient and blames himself, revealing he expects himself to be perfect.
These characters are great together, Quinton is fun and sensitive, calm when Leo needs perspective and care. I loved his Mom as well, and Leo’s ex, who has a great second chance in his own life.
I received this ARC for free and am glad to give it my honest review with appreciation.
I adored this story. I love how Gabbi Grey writes books that stand alone but also include characters from her other books. I love a good redemption story. While Leo wasn't necessarily a bad guy in Gideon's Gratitude, he wasn't a very likeable character. I'm so glad that Gabbi Grey gave him a second chance at finding love. His relationship with Quinton didn't get off to a great start but they got a great HEA.
I loved the hints we got for a book I hoped we get about a firefighter who appeared in this story and was very happy that Gabbi confirmed that Finn's story will be coming soon.
I don’t know why but audiobooks don’t often bring me to tears like reading with my eyes but this one hit me hard in the feels and, to me, that’s the best compliment I can give a book. I loved listening to Michael Dean's performance.
A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me at my request; my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.
I really enjoyed this listen. Michael Dean did a great job narrating.
Quinton had a one night stand with a new doctor at the hospital that he's been working at as a nurse. After a hot, steamy night, the doctor said something offensive and Quinton wrote him off as a jerk.
After being forced to interact at work, Quinton realizes that maybe Leo isn't as arrogant and egotistical as he assumed. And Leo finds that while he's made some bad choices in the past in his personal life, he's fine with being alone now. Completely alone. Just him and his work.
I really, really enjoyed seeing Leo rise from the ashes of his past marriage, where he gave his ex no leeway or understanding and found a way to overcome the person he'd been, make amends, and become friends. I loved his redemption arc so much. He and Quinton were great together.
This is a great listen and I'd absolutely recommend it.
I am doubly blessed…I was able to read an ARC and listen to an audiobook; narrated by Michael Dean. He did a superb job with this humorous romance.
I could envision both Quinton and Leo. They both had strong personalities so yes, there were some clashes, but they came through with an HEA, a family complete with a grandmother, sweet kids and a dog!
If you have to fight for something it’s all the more precious.
Add in the medical drama, great friends and a professional imbalance, and there is plenty of angst and conversations that kept them off balance for a while.
Leo’s fears, his relationship with. his ex all played into his outlook at situations which were different than Quinton’s. Quinton is exactly the nurse you want in every role in a hospital. There are lots of side characters that add depth.
A wonderful story about love and what family really looks like…from the outside and those in it.
Thanks to Gabbi and GRR for this extra special ARC…what a treat!
I love this series and I love this book. It has for me the perfect character, Quinton. A strong man who takes not crap off of anyone and is willing to hold others accountable for their behavior knowing he deserves better. The book starts with Quinton having the perfect hook up with the perfect man, Leo. Well turns out Leo is not so perfect, he is an arrogant surgeon that Quinton has to work with. Leo is a man who gets his way, and does not worry abut being liked or how he treats people, but he meets his match in Quinton. Quinton can and does easily hold his own. I love how these two drove one another bonkers but you knew that anger masked a strong attraction. I love seeing the power switched in the younger nurse standing up to the older doctor. Great other characters add to the story and made me want more.
Not enough stars for this one. I loved Leo and Quentin’s story. A great start to the book, although we don’t get to read their first hookup in this. I was glued to this from the first page with Quentin’s personality and sass with Leo. Quentin tells how he’s fabulously planning a valentines bash party for his friends.
Wow their sexy scenes are hot, I loved their chemistry when they’re together. Leo has lots of unresolved feelings regarding trust as a result of what happened to Gideon and their marriage breakdown. Quentin was getting a reputation for his parties as they found couples match makers. All the dramas of hospital life is included which I loved. Doctor Leo has a tough time with difficult operations and moving onward from his marriage to Gideon and his children. A fantastic ending to the books. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Also reviewed at MMBookwormReviews.com
I liked the characters a lot, although the original disagreement was blown up more than it needed to be. I'm glad the explanation wasn't overly dragged out. I could have used a little more justification for why they kept jumping into bed together, given the dislike, but that was made up for by how wonderful Quinton's relationship was with his mother. And I enjoyed seeing them come to trust and rely on each other.
It's probably easier to keep track of the supporting cast if you've read the previous books in the series, but it's good to know there are more stories with this group to seek out. (I was given a digital ARC for review.)
I had been waiting and waiting for this story to come out after reading the little prequel that sooo left us on tender hooks and eager to read more. Alas it wasn't to be, for me anyway. I'm disappointed in myself really, I so struggled with this story, I found myself feeling frustrated, it seemed drawn out and full of filler chit chat and many characters, my poor aged brain suffered. I did finish it but only with a fair amount of skimming. No disrespect to the author, just not my thing.
After the short novella that leads up to this story, I was craving Leo's story. In prior stories, he was not necessarily the "good guy". But he had his reasons. Then the one-night stand with the hot nurse, makes their work environment start off on the wrong foot. But they are just too hot for each other. This story was everything it needed to be. And you can't go wrong with Michael Dean. Love the Mission City guys and look forward to more and more.
Quinton and Leo are both prone to jumping to conclusions and lashing out. There is plenty of spark between them, and they keep coming back for more. I liked that Leo willingly admitted he was wrong and apologized. I loved, even more, that he worked to heal his relationship with his ex-husband. All four adults worked so hard to put the children first. Quinton's mom was a bright spot in the book. Highly recommended author and series
I had not read all the other books in this series but this story was easily read as a standalone. The earlier couples slotted into the storyline seamlessly. Quinton and Leo are the ultimate grumpy/sunshine couple who make it work. The extended family throughout the book really add to the story. Keen to read the next book.
I love seeing asian rep in MM stories, especially when it’s wrapped up in a love story like Quinton and Leo’s. Their start might have been rocky, but I really enjoyed watching them fall in love and creating a wonderful family for themselves. Love the story and can’t wait to see more of Mission City!
This is so sweet. I loved seeing how these two figured things out after the novella. One of my favorite things is found family, and this series is very much a found family heavy series that I love. I also love Quintons mom in this. This was a light read with a beautiful love story. I listened to it, and the narration is perfect. I love how narrators can really bring a story to life.
Absolution excellent read! The prequel for this book set it up for these two to be enemies and they were….for a bit! I loved Mama! I loved seeing all the characters from the rest of the series.
