Behind Every Door: A Multi Monster Romance

I took this job out of sheer desperation. It's just one night in a specific hotel, they said. Spend one night, and then you'll get paid. But that single night turns into a nightmare as I'm chased along the gloomy hotel corridors by four different monstrous entities. They're hunting me, hungry for me. They have tentacles, teeth, glowing eyes, supernatural powers... I should be terrified of them. But why they kinda...

A dark monster romance inspired by the horror game "Doors" and the disappearances at the Cecil Hotel. Please check the content guidance at the beginning of the book before reading.

So I read this book and honestly I had no idea what to expect. I have never read anything with monsters before and I am still not sure if it is really my thing. But I could not put it down 😂. Even now I do not know if I am into the whole monster vibe but if you are and you love plenty of spice you will definitely enjoy this one!

4 / 5

XD
Napięcie dobrze zbudowane, momenty polowania, ukrywania się i ucieczki klimatyczne, a każdy z bohaterów wniósł coś innego do historii, co super dopełniło całość.

This book really surprised me. I absolutely loved the mixture of horror and romance. It gave me the feeling of playing a wicked escape horror game. It's so well written and really drags you into the haunted hotel. With lots and lots of spice and terrifying yet oddly sexy monsters😏. It seems this is a standalone but I absolutely would love to read more of this world! Definitely checking out the author's other books!

4.5 stars for sure. This was somehow suspenseful, funny, and unbelievably sweet. I love how Jessamine Rue writes her characters, heavily flawed and sarcastic with room to grow. This is definitely a spicey book but there’s still a storyline and enough banter to make you kick your feet.

Read in one sitting and I’m still dizzy from the heart pounding terror and spice! I loved the supernatural element and how precious each monster was. Forever worshipping at the alter of Viral, though.

I wanted to like this one because it's why choose. My favorite. But the same freaking words got used over and over and over and it got boring. Now don't get me wrong. The story was good and I loved the characters, Feral was my favorite. But I needed more words not the same ones

Okay so you expect it to be only a smutty monster romance it's not it haves actually nice story! With reason and all.
I liked mostly Ferral I think. But it was a really hard decision. REALLY AAAH MRS RUE WHAT DID YOU DO. XD

Behind Every Door is one of those books that immediately hooks you with its premise: monster romance meets horror, set inside the eerie Hotel Cecilia. Knowing the real world inspiration behind the setting adds an extra layer of unease, and the atmosphere kicks in almost instantly. Within the first few chapters, things are already strange, tense, and just a little bit unhinged in a way that makes you curious to see how far it will go.

Emily is thrown straight into her mysterious undercover “mission,” and from there, the chaos doesn’t let up. The hotel itself is easily one of the most interesting parts of the story… creepy, sentient, and full of secrets. There are moments that feel genuinely clever, especially when the plot leans into that almost LitRPG style progression and the idea that everything inside operates by its own rules and how the game is played.

But this is definitely a very specific kind of read. The spice hits early and often, and while some of it ties into the plot (particularly around healing and connection) a lot of it feels excessive. It started to overshadow the story for me, especially when it felt like the narrative kept getting paused for another encounter instead of pushing the plot forward.

That said, I did enjoy the underlying concept. There’s a found family element woven in, and hints of deeper character backstory that add a bit more substance. I just wish the balance had leaned more toward the horror and mystery, because those elements had real potential to shine.

Overall, I’m landing at around 2.5 stars. I liked the idea, the setting, and where the story was trying to go. But the heavy amount of smut, especially within such a short story, just wasn’t my vibe. I think I’ve officially confirmed that the “why choose” trope (even with demons involved) isn’t for me. But honestly… the demons were still weirdly wholesome, and I will 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 have a soft spot for monsters like that ❤️‍🔥🥹

If you like creepy stories, major tension, and unique monsters then this book is for you! Emily is desperate enough to take a really weird job. All she has to do is check into an old hotel and stay one night. Then she gets paid and she can try and make something of her life. As She checks in and gets settled in her room she starts to notice some really weird stuff. This hotel is not normal and neither are the creatures inside that seem to be hunting her. This story was so eerie and thrilling. I loved the spooky setting and how the tension built up. The monsters are pretty unique and the story was interesting. The combination of plot, horror elements, and spice was perfectly balanced in my opinion. Check out this novella if you like monster romance with horror elements, unique monsters, very steamy scenes, a creepy hotel, primal play, and characters who are murderous yet sweet.

I was not expecting to be that invested in the plot but I didnt want to put it down, I needed to know what was going to happen next at all times! So there's me at 2:45am finishing my first monster romance book having only started it at like 11pm...
This is just so fun and shockingly heartfelt! The horror aspects are done really well in my opinion, I was anxious and thrilled and some other good adjectives i cant think of 🔥🔥 I was just so wrapped up in the story I am truly in love with the book ❤️

WILD RIDE.

Young woman who’s in desperate need of extra money answers a strange ad, agreeing to stay the night in a hotel without any of her own possessions in exchange for a huge sum of money. Seems too good to be true right? It is. She comes face to face with strange monsters and other horrors while trapped in the hotel trying to find her way out. And if she gets to… know… the monsters a little along the way, who could blame a girl???

Anyway, this was super fun, unpredictable and amazing.

Why did I read this sooner?

When I started this, I was genuinely terrified of the monsters like Emily was but they grow on you so quickly. I feel in love with them just like Emily and was obsessed with their love story. They all just needed love and it was perfect! You would think this was all spice and no plot but you would be wrong and honestly I didn't know where the plot was going until it was revealed. I loved this book so much and knew it was a 5 star for me since about 50%. I'm going to recommend this until the cows come home.

Perfect Halloween Read

This is the first time I read this author, and I glad I got the chance. This book is a short, cute, spooky, spicy monster reverse harem and I loved every bit of it. I love all the mmcs, and how they're different monsters 👻. The FMC has a dark little past but took this game head on. I hate how it was over to fast.
The spice was spicy 🌶🌶🌶🌶

Oh my God, where do I even start? I’m completely in love with this book. The way each monster is described is amazing. Every one of them feels so real and different. I honestly can’t even pick a favorite because they all have their own special place in my heart. The story kept me on edge the whole time, never knowing what was coming next. It’s one of those books you just can’t put down. I will recommend this book to everyone who will listen!

This hooked me IMMEDIATELY. I loved this entire book, and it makes me so sad that it ended! The monsters are so sweet in their own way, and it blends sexy with horror perfectly. Every monster had their own problems and their redemption was beautiful. Also plenty of funny parts in it that had me cracking up.

4/5 🌶️

I do not have the words. WTF was this.

I will leave you with this…vibrating serpentine tongue, monster circle jerk.

That will either make you definitely want to read it or it’s a warning to steer clear.

3.75 rounded up.

I really enjoyed the overall theme and plot for this story. The characters were very diverse and interesting. There’s just quite a bit of repetitive dialogue that could be cleaned up. Otherwise it was quite fun.

This was nutso fun. I wasn’t sure what I was getting in to, but a very spicy monster romance with a bunch of heart? I probably would have kept reading if it was longer… or read a sequel honestly. It was a fun ride!

what?

One of the strangest books I’ve ever read. Just what?

On that note, it was also really entertaining. Weird, but fun.

Could’ve used an editor, but it wasn’t bad enough to be a distraction.

This was an enjoyable read. Well written, giving the vibes of a classic escape room horror game. With a haunted hotel that plays on the real murder hotel elements. With paranormal elements.

I loved all the main men. Each of them with their own unique personalities and supernatural traits. Plus we get them interacting beyond the female lead. Feeling more like a poly couple. Which was sweet and adorable.
