A fabulous addition to the Harvey, Max, and Rose series. The beginning chapters open the door to not one but two mysteries, one of which reveals some eye-opening information regarding World War II and the treatment of Jews by the Nazis. Mr. Harris has done a marvelous job providing us with this engaging, thought-provoking novel. Excellent. Highly Recommended.

The author brings two storylines to this book. As a part time consultant he actually has time to deal with both. Turns out they are both cold cases, one very cold. Harvey skillfully pulls the long hidden facts together. As the reader you will see the cases converge.

Making the reading even more enjoyable is the author's skill at describing the location. You honestly will want to eat at Guac & Mole. And when you are in Sheringham you should take that opportunity. Or maybe just a walk with the dog in the Felbrigg Woods. That option is also available to you.

The characters are brought to life in a way that you will know them and want to meet them in person. You can't, but you will find them thoroughly visible to you through the author's prose.

The driving motivation for Harvey is justice. He knows it, and so does Rose, his girlfriend but so much more. He solves more than just the cold cases but that just reveals all the more essential character he has.

If you always root for justice to prevail in the end, if you like a good police detective story, definitely read this book. It has the emotional content to grab you just at the right moment and make you appreciate the story and how it is written that much more! Actually if you just want a pleasant tour around Sheringham that is there for you also.

Gripping and exciting! I love it!
'Harvey Ross' is getting better and better, the story runs fluid and smooth and stays very interesting!
It's so amusing how the former detective inspector, "infamous and feared by criminals", is bumbling along in his romance with Doctor Rose.
The opposite is him looking in cold cases, finding new clues and trying to solve puzzling old murders in his thoughtful and thorough ways.
Interwoven in this murder story there's another exciting part: Aunt Agatha's mystery of the "Annabelle", a boat found abandoned in 1945 - it is wonderful and fascinating to follow all clues. This second topic takes you to a very dark chapter of our recent past! It's really something to think about...
Deeply recommended!

Murder Most Casual by Theo Harris is book 2 in the Harvey Ross Coastal Mysteries series. This wonderful cozy series is set in Sheringham, Norfolk. Harvey Ross retired from the Met in London and moved to Sheringham after his Aunt Agatha’s death when she left him her house, along with a folder of mysteries from the area that she was investigating. His Aunt had been an agent during WW2, which was a big surprise to Harvey. He has been taken on as a Consultant with the Norfolk MIT on a part-time basis, to investigate cold cases. His first case is the Bouquet Murders, 3 murders from 6 years ago. His historical investigation involves a boat found washed up on the shore in May 1945. The story takes a few twists, in both cases, as Harvey starts digging with some surprising results. This was an engrossing read with his historical investigations adding another enjoyable element. I found myself absorbed in both the investigations. I really like Harvey as a character, and Rose seems to be a good match for him. Their interaction and repartee add humour add to the story too. Harvey has a wicked sense of humour. The appointment of Matt, the probationer DC, to assist Harvey brings to light what a great mentor Harvey is and I look forward to seeing him develop in future books.
