After the Noise

After the Noise is a dark, emotionally intense Formula 1 romance featuring themes of grief, obsession, emotional abuse, and forbidden love. Please check the content warnings before reading.

They say I'm the heart of Alberone Racing.
Daughter of a legend. Strategist. Wife.
I’ve spent my life building a future my mother never got to finish, calculating every move, every risk, every heartbeat on track.
But then he walked in.
Dakota Reyes.
He shouldn't be anywhere near the grid. He shouldn't be in my garage. He definitely shouldn't be looking at me like he already knows how this ends.
And I knew the second he did, there was no going back.

I built my life in the dark.
Underground races, stolen parts, smoke-thick garages where names didn’t matter.
Until one night went too far.
Now I’ve got a record, a reputation, and three years behind bars to prove it.
I wasn’t looking for redemption.
I wasn’t looking for her.
Phoebe Alberone is all bright lights and sharp edges.
F1’s crown jewel.
She shouldn’t even look at me.
But when she does, it’s not fear in her eyes.
It’s recognition.
And that might be the most dangerous thing of all.

Thank you to Anna White for sending me an ARC copy of After the Noise.

This book was everything I expected and more. The perfect mix of F1 drama with a redemption arc and serious revenge thrown into the mix.

Phoebe is a true power woman - but team principle at 23/24 felt a little difficult to believe. That being said she isn’t seriously impressive and I really enjoyed every aspect of her story line.

Dakota 😍 Recognising small signs, quietly supportive throughout everything. Yes, he probably should have been more honest early on about the crash but it’s a book, and without that kind of drama it would have been a short read!

Special mention to Luca because that guy is so far in his daughter’s corner it’s sometime special. Really hoping book 2 will be Isla and Clayton’s story

This book was an arc read for me for a honest review and I'm very grateful I was able to get this as an arc read. Phoebe and Dakota are simply meant to be together and reading their story showed this although their path was far from easy.

There is a massive obstacle to their relationship and when this comes out it's hard to imagine they will get their HEA or even progress further in the book.

They come from different worlds but both have a love of cars and racing however again this is largely in a different way. The story pulls you in and you forget the differences in their social-economkc status, criminal history and just general points that can sometimes be a deal breaker for people and you simply just need them to be together.

Another good thing about the book is as a reader we are privy to the fact that both MCs feel the same about each other however due to the secret Dakota is holding there are a lot of complications that will impact how Phoebe feels about him. We also have Phoebe's marriage to Ricky which has domestic violence as a huge part of it and which Dakota and Phoebe's friend is trying to get her out off.

The book is wrote with clear, everyday language and draws you in without having to worry about the words being out of place. Definitely recommend especially if you want to read about unconditional love of a father and daughter and a love between two parties that will withstand the strongest storm and a story that highlights a 17 year old showing immense bravery to save a child's life at the exception of his own.

Thank you so much, Anna White, for the arc copy.

First, this book is amazing. I love the way it is structured with both duel povs in each chapter. The link to the name of the book throughout the novel is that only greater writers can do without it feeling forced.

Phoebe, the female lead, is such a strong character, and the emotions she feels throughout the novel feel realistic. This is especially shown when she feels broken but stays strong for herself after learning who she is outside of the world she once knew.

Dakota, the male lead, is one of the best book boyfriends to exist. Protective but not possessive. Kind and caring, and puts everyone else before himself.
The relationship between Phoebe and dakota is one of the most adoring and loving I've read. They healed each other in ways other characters could never do. The slow burn of learning about each other and falling in love, to bumps in the road, to finding each other again without giving up is whimsical.

I loved the found family aspect with these books, especially the F1 drivers who supported Phoebe and dakota from the start. I would love to see a book with Isla and Clayton someday.

I’ve read many sports romance books and dark romance books — and this book mixes them perfectly.

Packed with tension, chemistry, and the yummy Dakota, I ran for this as soon as I saw the blurb.

✨ The Story
Phoebe is the star girl of Formula 1 — a brilliant strategist and the daughter of a legacy. But she’s trapped in a broken marriage that’s slowly tearing her apart.

Then comes Dakota. Fresh out of jail, his world was the underground racing scene. He shouldn’t be anywhere near Phoebe… but when their paths cross, the chemistry is smoking, the tension electric.

They fight it. They resist. But the pull is undeniable.

💔 My Thoughts
I couldn’t put this book down. Anna pours every ounce of emotion into her writing, and this story was intense—touching on grief, obsession, and the toxic side of love.

My heart hurts for Phoebe. She went through so much, yet still carried on with strength. This sports romance pushed against boundaries, keeping my heart in my stomach from start to finish.

And Dakota? Yeah… he’s officially on my book boyfriend list. 😏

🚗🖤 If you love:
▪️ Dark romance
▪️ Sports romance
▪️ Forbidden love
▪️ Explosive chemistry & tension

This book has my heart, emotions, and everything else. I was scared it was going to break me as I instantly fell in love with Dakota, but fear not there is a HEA! The writing style completely immersed me in the story, and I was continually holding my breath as I read! The slow burn romance gives you all the feels, I felt like I was there and felt every emotion of Dakota and Phoebe.

I really didn't want the story to end, and I can't stop thinking about it!

Anna White is a new author to me, and I can't wait to read the rest of her books!

If you love a slow burn and forbidden romance, then get this immediately

Drama, heartache, finding your truth and F1. I love Dakota and Phoebe. This book was a journey of finding self love and self worth and making through a time in life where Phoebe didn’t think she would escape. Finding comfort in the rough broken edges. The story is beautifully written and the end just as much. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the series brings.

I can’t thank Anna enough for allowing me to read the Arc to this book and I can’t wait for everyone else to read this book on release day.

This book was consuming. I loved all the detail. the looks. the touches. the raw feelings. The heartache. There were many moments I cried for both the FMC and MMC for their pasts and what they were dealing with individually.
I could easily see this being turned into a movie.
The side characters were kept interesting and I hope that some of them get their own books. No pressure!
As always please check the trigger warnings! 🖤

Thank you for the ARC copy of this book.

This was my first sports romance book.

I enjoyed the duel POVs of Dakota and Phoebe and enjoyed that the chapters were also written that way as it felt like you were getting both perspectives.

The other “main characters” of Isla, Clayton and Luca all gave depth to the story and made you want to know more about their back stories as well.

Overall, as my first sports romance read it makes me want to read more within this genre.

This story follows Pheobe, born into a legacy, but felt trapped in an abusive marriage!
She meets Dekota, the black sheep, recently released from prison after being involved in illegal races!

They find them self's falling for eachother in a slow burn story of two lost souls!

I really liked the story line and the characters!!

It was just a little too long for me personally, but if you love a slow emotional romance, then this is definitely the book to pick up!

Check your trigger warnings..

Phoebe - is F1's crown jewel. She calculates every move, every heartbeat, every risk on that track. To the outside world, she is a happy married woman, but behind closed doors, things aren't what the public thinks.
All it takes is one day, one day for Dakota to walk into Phoebe's garage.

Dakota - lived his life in the shadows, the shadows which involve underground races, all it took was one night for one fateful accident to change his life.
After being a ghost and keeping away from the underground races, Dak walks into an F1 garage, one which Phoebe runs.

Will Dak and Phoebe be able to stop feelings from rising?

Will secrets and past life's stay hidden...?

This is a beautifully written dark romance novel, one where we see two lost souls fall for each other. Their pasts try to keep them apart, but will it work?

The twists and turns this author has brought to us are just amazingly done. The spice is oh so delicious!

It is an F1 inspired novel, one with dark themes.

It is my first F1 inspired novel, and I can say it will not be the last.

This book caught me hook line and sinker, I was instantly hooked and ate this book up!

It is the first book of this author I have read, and I can honestly say it will not be the last, I can't wait to see what she has next in store for us!

If you are looking for a new author and an F1 inspired novel with dark themes, then this one is for you.
