Every Halloween, all the teenagers in Oak Valley throw a party out at the Pit. Tonight, as the keg is tapped and the band kicks off their set, survivors and killers alike make their way toward the festivities, ready to light the fuse on the most explosive rager the town has ever seen… Michael Walsh (Universal Frankenstein) and Claire Roe (Dark Hollywood Special) rejoin James Tynion IV (The Department of Truth) for a brutal turning point in the smash-hit horror phenomenon!
Prior to his first professional work, Tynion was a student of Scott Snyder's at Sarah Lawrence College. A few years later, he worked as for Vertigo as Fables editor Shelly Bond's intern. In late 2011, with DC deciding to give Batman (written by Snyder) a back up feature, Tynion was brought in by request of Snyder to script the back ups he had plotted. Tynion would later do the same with the Batman Annual #1, which was also co-plotted by Snyder. Beginning in September 2012, with DC's 0 issue month for the New 52, Tynion will be writing Talon, with art by Guillem March. In early 2013 it was announced that he'd take over writing duties for Red Hood and the Outlaws in April.
Tynion is also currently one of the writers in a rotating team in the weekly Batman Eternal series.
Exquisite Corpses #7 was a fantastic issue — tense, violent, and horror-driven in all the right ways. The stakes jump fast, fire cuts off every escape, and watching these killers collide made for some brutal, gripping moments. One of the strongest entries in the series so far.
Damn! Claire Roe’s art is so stellar - I think she’s my favorite of the Corpse Crew artists. She does the two killer battles justice in this one with some slick action sequences and two jaw-dropping splash pages. For the midway point of the first arc, we’re in a very good spot.
The artwork is always INCREDIBLE, and this issue is no exception! This installment was intense but at the same time it felt like it went by quicker than the other issues. The story is still super fun and I can't wait for the next one!
I couldn’t wait for this day to get here! I preordered this issue because I knew the writers would not disappoint and they truly didn’t. The action really has heated up figuratively and literally now I’m wondering who’s left alive. Ugh 2026 hurry up already!!!
Gosh this series continues to remain so intense! But what I love is that for just as much near death drama there is on the field, it also exists in the game overwatch room. Massachusetts is quick to remind the game master that people don’t stay in his role for long if they screw it up, and his idea to speed up the game and drive it towards the mass gathering could mess all of this up. And things are really heating up at the pit, pretty boy and Lyla Blaze are in attendance and just waiting to make their move and we watch as Xavi is desperately looking for Craig…although he doesn’t find him, and I really hope he is okay, he does find Jason after he stumbled out of the woods after rascal Randy killed gamer kid last issue. Things are also getting to that point where if one killer does survive I’m not sure who I would want it to be. While driving the ambulance towards the put in search of Jason, Laura and Audrey come across the cemetery where Lone Gunman and the Fox masked killer have been locked into combat! The fight is intense as hell and the stray gunfire ends up shattering the front window of the ambulance, sending them out of control and causing them to flip on a gravestone. This massively changes and fight and drives the fighters closer together. It’s crazy how evenly matched they are, and the fight reaches a stalemate once Fox masked killer gets their sword fight to the gunman’s neck right as the gunman has his gun pointed at theirs. But the real action of this issue ends at the pit. Our favorite meth dealer and gas station employee, Mike, happened to notice Xavi and Jason as the two other people would would actually believe his story and out currently at the top of my most likely to survive list. But just the same pretty boy takes notice of Lyla blaze. Seems they were both briefed on the other killers and she sees through his act immediately. We know how much she hates physical touch and lover boy here is a very close talker. He proposes they work together to burn it all down, but she sees that he is just insecure and needs everyone to like him before he stomps them out…but not her, she sees the gaiety in the flame and as she literally steps into the bonfire at the pit she kicks pretty boy towards the van she arrived in…before blowing it up!! This immediately cuts out all the cameras to the event, we don’t know who is dead or who is alive and Massachusetts can’t help but give a giant told you so smile to the game master as everyone is pissed and she promises that if her killer goes down with the cameras off she will kill him herself.

Exquisite Corpses #7 delivers a tense, high-stakes chapter packed with killer showdowns, escalating danger, and standout visuals. The pace ramps up with every page, pulling readers deeper into the Halloween-set chaos of Oak Valley’s infamous party at the Pit, where survivors, killers, and the sinister Groundkeeper collide as the game’s rules change in shocking ways.
The art work is really cool, the colors are super vibrant and somehow look like they’re being shown under black light. The killers are starting to reveal their true intentions. Very entertaining series.
