Seven’s just trying to survive in the city that raised her. With a young daughter to care for, dreams of finishing college on pause, and grief still fresh from losing the one woman who ever truly loved her—her Nana she thought inheriting the family brownstone meant finally catching a break. But her world flips upside down when a knock at the door reveals Ajani Knox. Brooklyn’s most feared and respected hustler. And he’s not just standing on her stoop... he’s holding the deed to her house in his hand. Ajani doesn’t do romance. The whole flowers-and-candy thing isn’t his thing. Ajani does power plays, hitting it once and never calling again. For him, he yearns for loyalty, a trait that seems difficult to come by in his world. But Seven? She’s no-nonsense and sharp-tongued, a New York girl to the bone. For him, her strength stands out, and that she’s far too beautiful to ignore, even with that slick mouth of hers. And her daughter. She latches onto him like she already knows he’s meant to protect them. Ajani has an empire to protect, enemies watching at every corner, and a legacy to secure. The solution? Marry Seven. Make her his queen…on paper. Give him an heir. Let him publicly claim her daughter as his for at least six months. No strings. Just strategy. Seven’s no fool. She knows better than to trust a man like Ajani, no matter how good he looks in a tailored suit or how safe she feels when he’s near. But for her daughter’s security and the home she refuses to lose, she signs on the dotted line—with her walls all the way up. But love wasn’t part of the contract. As lines quickly blur and sparks suddenly ignite, what starts as a transactional marriage becomes something far more dangerous just as fast. Secrets unravel. Enemies close in. And loyalty, the thing Ajani swears by, will be tested in ways neither of them saw coming. In a world where love is a luxury and, power is everything, and the streets don’t play fair—will their deal destroy them...or be the very thing that saves them both?
⭐️⭐️.5 I liked the story and the twist and plot, it just didn’t seem well thought out. Typos and grammatical errors don’t bother me, but certain facts in the story were contradicting! And I’m not complaining or discouraging anyone from reading the book, I just need to get these thoughts out because who else I’m gonna tell? Lmao 😂 This is a major spoiler, don’t read.
Ok so, the hazel green eyes in AJ and his mom “only from their bloodline” to him possibly being his father’s bastard child and the “real heir” having the same eyes— different mother mind you— like how? Why were the eyes even a factor? To connect him to Ever? Why build up on these hazel green eyes for the ball to be dropped like that?
Loved lil Ever down… but how old was she? Talking and comprehending like that at 2yrs? Really? All that to be “babbling” and “reaching from her crib” at the end of the book… that was off and odd.
Also, minor details but major to me, mentioning dismissing folks from the wedding but then putting how a character spoke into the mic at the guest? What guest? Everyone was asked to leave! Or forgetting the setting of an intimate scene then have them be in a totally different location in the middle of it… y’all were just on a picnic date on the floor but now in the bed?
Then y’all did my girl Lucky wrong! A crack baby in an abandoned house?! Really lol! And let’s not forget, Seven becoming a doctor 2 years after finally finishing college is crazy for an Epilogue. BFFR!! Easy fix with a legit editor to catch this. She could just have been a Med student instead, and we could change Ever to be older since she has a lot of talking scenes.
AND IT WAS SO REPETITIVE! Like why they had to keep having the same convos over and over? With the same sexual tension and sex build up and “caught in the act” scene multiple times; we could’ve saved like 50 pages! Lol
BUT GO READ IT! It was good. I just want us to get real editors… hell, hire me! 🙋🏽♀️

This was may first by this author and it don't be my last. I really liked this story. Ajani and Seven's story was dramatic, and suspenseful. Delilah and Aries were wicked. Those twists and turns in the storyline were shocking, I didn't see it coming! I took off a start for two reasons. First, I have children, nieces and nephews....none of them spoken/talked like Ever. That two year old too articulate for her age...that is a pet peeve of mine. Allow the kids in the story to sound and act like kids. Ever's real age should've been 4 or 5. The second reason for taking off a start was the timeline. Seven was in school for 2 years tops, right? Her grandfather died and she came back home. But 11 months later she was graduating from med school, which by the way takes 7-8 years. But on top of that she had a baby that was 2 months old act said graduation. The math ain't math-in'. But go off sis....
This was my first time trying out this author. She has made a supporter out of me. I enjoy how descriptive and vivid the writing is. You can also feel the emotions of each scene throughout the book. It could use a little bit more spice, but the scenes that have them make you feel every letter. I would totally recommend this book. It’s not what I thought it would be, but it’s definitely better.
I loved this book. The author wrote the heck out of it. Although not instantaneously the love came it definitely was early on. They slowly built what they had. Their life. Their love. Their bond. Their family. Those bombs though had me shaking in my boots. Overall great job
I really enjoyed this book, it had everything in… propositions to get what we both want. Step daddy season heavy, MMC with BDE and gansta don’t play about his at all. MMF that stood her ground and handled business. No stone left unturned with the secrets. Enough drama to hold you and all messy boots got what was deserved. Go on read it you won’t be disappointed
I enjoyed reading about Aj, Seven, & Ever. That lil girl Ever is so adorable. I love how AJ took care of them. Some of the characters tried to stop them from having what they earned but they prevailed. I was shocked how things ended. Definitely a plot twist but the epilogue is super sweet. Loved it. Will be reading more from this author.
Those so called family members weren’t worth a d*** they got handled accordingly! Ajani and ever was the duo I didn’t think I needed..loved them, she loved her some Jani-bear! That baby daddy of Luckys yea he really could’ve stayed out the way and he could’ve had a chance at life but oh well…10/10 for me
Yes, yes and yes! I love how this story flowed so well. I need an Ajani in my life like right now. This was soo good that I had to finish it before I went to bed. This had the right amount of drama, betrayal and some more shit in it. Please read it and review it.
Overall I liked the premise of the story. Ajani and Seven were a good matchup but they truly had some snakes in their camp. Ever was a breathe of fresh air. The relationship between her and her Jani Bear was too cute.
This book will take you on a ride. It has been so many secrets within this group your head spend. You have to read this book if you haven't. Shout to Queen T.
