I was NOT ready for this to end! I didn't see the twist coming at all and truly enjoyed meeting all of the characters. The illustrations were stunning and really helped bring them to life. Ivy is SO relatable and I loved seeing her interact with Eric! Usually I have trouble getting into fantasy novels, but this was a very approachable and fun world to fall into. It's nice to see this whodunit/coming-of-age/faith-centered/magical/character-driven story come together. I can't wait to see how Ivy grows as she learns more about herself and her purpose.

Things I want MORE of in future stories pls:
- Dorian. Anything. Will take anything!!
- Ivy x Eric <3
- Ayoki shenanigans
- more on Ivy's relationship with her parents

3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

I really enjoyed the characters and the world building of this story. The mix of Christianity and fantasy was really fun to see and I liked learning more about the way the world worked. The art is fantastic and really added to the story!

I felt that there may have been some issues with editing in section breaks; sometimes they were present and other times they were not, so it was very jarring to read about one scene and then realize you were now in a completely different scene.

I also felt maybe the antagonist was maybe passed over a little too quickly, and there were certain conversations between characters that could have happened but didn’t (such as between Ivy and her parents or Ivy and the girls from her school).

Ultimately, I think this is a good read and I’m ready to see more in this universe!

I think it was a really nice story. I definitely want to learn more about the characters, like Dorian or Eric. I'd love to get a deeper understanding of those characters.. I liked the chemistry between Ivy and Eric; again, I would like to see them more in action together, hehe. I also really want to know more about the "gifts." Otherwise, the book was a good start to the world, giving a feel for it and the aesthetic. If you're looking for a short Christian book, I would recommend this one! Fyi, the art was extremely cute; I definitely loved it.

Yes, I read this in 3 days. Yes, I loved it! I need more… like, I need 20+ books based on these characters and the world they live in.
And that ending?? I did not see that coming. 😳
Anyway, it was a fun read. The illustrations were gorgeous. The characters were lovable and real. And as someone who lives in the south east, it was very nostalgic.
