In this whimsical brew of magic and wisdom... Bronwynn Forrest Torgerson presents a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the life of a Witch. With warmth, humor, and candor, Torgerson shares rituals, stories, songs, spells, and poetry from her many years of Craft practice. Each month of the year has a theme, from "Journeys" in January to "Gift from the Gods" in December. This treasury of Witchy wisdom weaves together memory, reverie, mythology, and practical spellworkings to offer a unique and multifaceted view of the Witch's life.
I enjoyed this book very much. Part autobiography with stories from the authors own life experiences, part practical and instructional with ideas for rituals, spells, and celebrations.
I have to say I enjoy the author's personal stories most of all. When you've spent time on the path, it's easy to connect to these and that these type of stories are very appealing as opposed to straight forward how-to for those of us who've been around the block.
This book is a bit of a hodgepodge: anecdotes of the author's life mixed with rituals and spells, sprinkled with poetry. There aren't any basics here—she assumes you're familiar with circles, elements, directions, deities, spells, etc. Although each month/chapter has a different theme, the book feels pretty loosely put together. I enjoyed reading it, but nothing I read really grabbed me, and I suspect I'll forget about fairly soon.
Bronwynn Forrest Torgeson speaks with a clear voice about her past encounters with the divine and shows examples of some interesting spells. I admit, I mostly read this for biographical stuff.
