Smeerenburg. A freezing whaling station on the arctic island of Spitsbergen. Anna's father Aaron is tasked with the first attempt to overwinter on the northern ice. a very immersive tale that bought the period to life, you can tell it has been thoroughly researched. i really enjoyed the midwifery aspect of the book and the perils this must’ve presented in the 17th century
