She ain’t from Wilflower. He ain’t convinced she’s even from Earth.

When Georgia Culver’s life implodes, she packs up her bags and flees to the small town of Wilflower, Texas. She’s not sure what she’s looking for, but it definitely isn’t the camouflage-wearing conspiracy theorist next door.

Enter Jesse Pickens. Local handyman. Hardcore conspiracy theorist. Likely feral. He’s been tracking UFOs and deep state surveillance vans for decades, and he knows, for certain, that beautiful women don’t just move to Wilflower. Georgia sets off every alarm bell in his head. Government plant? Alien? Either way, he’s watching her.

But when strange occurrences start piling up, starting with another new neighbor who works for a government agency that doesn’t exist, Jesse drags Georgia into his investigation. Between stake-outs, growing feelings, and raccoons with a taste for PB&Js, Wilflower’s about to get a lot weirder.

Aliens Are Out There...And So Is She is a cozy, sci-fi small town romcom.

If your favourite Sims pack was Strangerville, you’re in for a treat. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC from the author, and this book delivered exactly the kind of quirky, chaotic fun I hoped for.

Welcome to Wilflower, a town where the rules are simple: don’t ask questions and ignore the bells. The strange atmosphere is part of the charm, and it sets the perfect stage for Jesse, a conspiracy theorist who is absolutely convinced that his new neighbour Georgia is either a government plant or an alien queen. In his mind, women that gorgeous don’t exist.. and they certainly aren’t interested in someone like him.

What follows is a sci-fi romcom bursting with weird little delights, sharp banter, and an unapologetically unhinged small-town vibe. It’s playful, chaotic in the best way, and full of heart. The slow-burn tension lands, the character dynamics feel effortless, and the world of Wilflower is so bizarrely loveable you can’t help but sink into it. I really hope this is the first in a series because if I could move to Wilflower immediately, I would (fog permitting of course).

Aliens Are Out There… And So Is She is one of the most unexpected and joyful reads I’ve picked up in a long time. A gem for anyone who loves romance with a twist of cosmic oddity and small-town nonsense.

This was such an unexpected delight?!

I knew what I was getting into - sort of. Aliens, mysteries, moving to a new town. What I WASN’T expecting was an adorable mysterious town full of found family and an even MORE adorable mmc with a FILTHY MOUTH.

WOW okay this man? He’s an anomaly. Are we sure he isn’t the alien ?! 🤣 he can say and do weird ass things with a deadpan face and then all of a sudden — “How do you look even prettier when you’re full of me?” LIKE HUH ? Where did that mouth come from 👀

Jesse “atta girl, darlin’” Ruston Pickens … yep I’m gonna remember him.

And Georgia Grace. Wooooe I love her. The way she just… falls into place regardless of her past and unknowing future. I love it.

This was a mix of sweet, extremely spicy and delicious, and kinda wild in the paranormal department. I loved it. It was so different from anything I’ve ever read and I needed it this week. It was such a good reprieve from real life!

Thank you so much to Indigo and team for allowing me an advanced copy of this wonderful story!

Thank you to Indigo Queen for the advanced reader copy!
This was such a fun, quirky rom-com, there wasn’t a dull moment. I absolutely loved Jesse and Georgia’s banter and their off-the-charts chemistry. And Wildflower? I want to live in a town like that! The sense of community and the charming acceptance of the weirdness made it such an enjoyable read. Big mamma and her babies were just so cute! Definitely recommend if you want a light hearted fun read!

Genre: Adult Paranormal Romance
Spice: 3/5🌶️
*spice ratings are relative to similar books in the same genre*

The Catalog: F/M, bizarre small town with unexplainable phenomena, MMC thinks FMC is an alien, forced proximity (neighbors), age gap, light stalking, voyeurism, good girl/good boy, fat FMC, a mystery involving a man in black, Dale Gribble coded MMC

Synopsis:
Wilflower, a town full of unexplainable paranormal phenomena, doesn’t exist on any map, which made it the perfect home for Jesse, an experienced conspiracy theorist looking to hide from the government. But now he’s got a new neighbor: a woman too perfect to possibly be human. Jesse fully believes he needs to investigate her, especially after her name appears at the bottom of his grocery receipt—which everyone knows means that she is his soulmate.

Thoughts:
TLDR; A story of paranormal phenomena, mystery, and soulmates, Aliens Are Out There… And So Is She is the most charmingly bizarre book I’ve ever read, and I recommend it with my whole heart.

This book owns my heart, y’all. From the nostalgic weirdness to the supremely attractive, very unhinged, MMC, I loved every second of this cozy paranormal romance. It kept me on my toes, it kept me laughing the entire time, and I was charmed so much that it left me questioning why my village doesn’t have a sinkhole with a sentient personality.

Every chapter begins with a bulletin from the local news, announcing things like feral clocks, or reminding residents that Thursdays don’t exist. I adored this so much and was always gleeful to see what was happening around town.

The MMC, Jesse, thinks that Georgia is an alien because she’s too perfect, and I find that to be so incredibly romantic, lmao. He tries to investigate her, in order to prove his life’s work that aliens exist. Unfortunately for him, Wilflower itself has a few tricks up its sleeve, and he finds himself falling for her as they work together to protect the town from the mysterious man in black. Their love story is full of magical receipts, adorable raccoons, and tinfoil lining every hat. It was so, so good.

If you love weird stories like Welcome to Night Vale, X-Files, The Twilight Zone, or happen to have an unexplained attraction to Dale Gribble, you’re going to love this. And if you’re just looking for cozy paranormal with lots of humor, heart, and heat, this is exactly what you want.

Where nothing is as it seems and what you’ve been looking for is right in front of you all along…

This book had me in giggles 🤭 Particularly the MMC, Jesse’s, POV. He gives major Dale Gribble and Giorgio Tsoukalos vibes and I am here for it! Love a man that can me laugh!!

Georgia moves to Wilflower to escape a messy relationship and hopes to start fresh and new. She wasn’t expecting the weird town and how the community just accepts it. Let alone the even weirder next door neighbor Jesse who thinks she’s a government spy or alien. Who genuinely grows on you! 😍🫠🥰

The town of Wilflower itself is alien. The ‘welcome’ fog, the bells that ring at 1:23AM, maps don’t work, & receipts that tell you who your soulmate is, just to name a few things. Wilflower is a fun town and one I want to move to! Where weird shit happens all the time and people mind their business! Because it’s just like that in Wilflower.

Bit of a slow burn, but the spice is definitely worth the wait.

Aliens Are Out There...And So Is She is a delightfully weird story with strong Welcome to Night Vale energy, set in the wonderfully bizarre town of Wilflower. Jesse, a full-on Dale Gribble level conspiracy theorist hiding from the government, thinks he has finally found the perfect place to disappear. That changes when a new neighbor arrives who seems far too perfect to be human. When her name appears at the bottom of his grocery receipt, which everyone in Wilflower knows means soulmate, Jesse becomes convinced he needs to investigate. The book is funny, sweet, and wonderfully quirky. I was giggling and kicking my feet the whole time. Big Mama the raccoon and her babies completely stole the show, and the town’s strange daily updates make Wilflower feel like a character all on its own. If you love oddball towns, lovable weirdos, and humor wrapped in heart, this book was an absolute treat.

This was so dang confusing! There were multiple times I paused or reread something because it caught me off guard or didn't make sense.
I loved it, absolutely fucking loved it! This entire book was a funny ball of confusion, cuteness, and weird mix altogether in a way that keeps you hooked.

There's a town no one knows exists, literally no one, it doesn't even show on maps! Then there's Welcoming fog, receipts telling you things and curious sinkholes.
Also, there's a sexy neighbor who wears foil in his hat, feeds Big Mama sandwiches, and is very suspicious of you! Can't tell if you're an alien or work for the government.
I told you, **weird**!

Other than that the characters are so funny and cute. Georgia and Jesse are our main characters. Day one of meeting each other their bumping heads, than banter to me was amazing. Their nicknames for each other was so cute too! Starts off like they were messing with each other, but started having a cute ring to them when their walls came down. I don't know if it's just me but Tinfoil was a really cute nickname. If you don't think so….. Well, sue me because I do. I just loved everything about them.

If you love conspiracy theories, funny banter, and cute nerds I definitely recommend this!

I can guarantee you’ve never read a book like this! Indigo Queen delivers an out of this world romance with the perfect amount of weird that just makes sense.

It’s the perfect blend of small-town charm and cosmic-level paranoia. Georgia Culver is just a woman whose life has imploded so spectacularly that she flees to Wilflower, Texas, hoping for anonymity. What she finds instead is Jesse Pickens the sunglass, tinfoil baseball cap wearing, UFO-tracking, conspiracy theorist next door who’s convinced she’s either a government plant or an alien.

What makes this story really shine is the collision of both vulnerability and absurdity. Georgia is raw, searching for a fresh start, while Jesse is feral in his convictions, a man who’s built his identity around mistrust and unsolved mysteries. Their dynamic is equal parts hilarious and tender: every time Jesse calls her “little spy” and throws a suspicious glance her way, Georgia matches it with her stubborn refusal to be intimidated. The tension simmers between these two, both hesitant at first, but then all in at the end.

Absolutely loved the romantic angst AND comedic timing. The banter is sharp and absurd, the chemistry undeniable, and the unique small town makes the perfect trio. Wilflower itself feels like a character; it’s quirky, watchful, and just strange enough to make you wonder, but then remember not to ask too many questions!.

This feels like a story about reinvention, trust, and the courage to be seen when you’d rather disappear. Georgia’s journey resonates deeply, while Jesse’s eccentric worldview provides both levity and unexpected depth. Jesse never once feels like Georgia is laughing at him, she genuinely cares for him and listens to him because she enjoys his oddities. Jesse values Georgia in ways she has never felt, nor expected due to her past.

Indigo Queen has a knack for writing characters who are flawed, funny, and achingly human, even when one of them might not be from Earth. Honestly, if you love neighbors-to-lovers with a twist, conspiracy theories woven into romance, and heroines who refuse to be underestimated, this book is a must-read. It’s heartfelt, hilarious, and just the right amount of weird.

A huge thank you to Indigo Queen for the early copy! This book had me cracking up and wishing I had pet raccoons to feed PB&Js to.

This was very unexpected book for me to pick up, and I was in love! I definitely didnt know what was going to happen in this. Jesse is the resident that everyone talks about being weird but loves all the same. Quiet but has lots to say! In comes Georgia after drunkenly buying a house across the country to throw him off his game. Georgia is just trying to escape and start over while Jesse watches and slowly falls in love

Listen… I knew Aliens Are Out There… And So Is She was going to be chaotic the second I saw it on Bookstagram, but nothing prepared me for Wilflower, Texas — where the raccoons have snack preferences, the neighbours might be from space, and the town motto might as well be “mind your business and pray the bells don’t ring.”

While this is a rom-com, the world-building here! Tumbleweeds, the only grocery store in town… takes cash on the weekends, promises on Wednesdays and Fridays, and the town skips Thursdays, because who likes Thursdays anyway? HILARIOUS!

Georgia "Little Spy" rolls into town looking for a fresh start. Jesse immediately decides she’s either:
a) a government plant,
b) an alien queen, or
c) way too pretty to be real.
Honestly? He might be onto something with C.

Jesse “TinFoil” Pickens is a dirty-talking, conspiracy-theory disaster man — and I say that with my whole chest: I LOVE HIM. This man could spot a UFO at 50km but can’t recognise a crush when it’s standing directly in front of him.

The vibes? Small-town Twilight Zone
The town? Unhinged in the best possible way.
The characters? Big Mama, Little Dillion, Racket — if you know, YOU KNOW. I was laughing out loud like it was a 90s sitcom and I was the studio audience.

As an X-Files-loving 90’s queen, this book fed me: government agents that don’t exist (or do they?), small-town shenanigans, alien energy, and slow-burn “I hate how attractive you are but also please don’t leave my porch” chemistry.

This might be one of my favourite reads of 2025. It’s quirky, it’s hilarious, it’s heart-melty, and it absolutely deserves its own tin-foil trophy.

The truth is out there…
and apparently so is Jesse’s rizz.

Absolutely adorkable in every way!! I fell so head over heels for the wonderfully weird Wilflower and its quirky inhabitants!!

Georgia was the perfect balance of go with the flow and take no shit. I loved that she was “escaping” her past by running to a new town that she had inadvertently bought a home in. From the very beginning, I definitely felt that Georgia was my girl and I was her passenger in her journey through Wilflower. I loved that she was a plus sized woman who definitely wore whatever she wanted and brushed off those who didn’t like fat women. YESSSSS MY QUEEN!! I also loved how she never made fun of Jesse for his theories or thoughts, really just taking this quirky town and its inhabitants in stride, showing that she really did belong there.

Jesse was a hilarious dreamboat. Seriously, this man was so odd but also so sweet that you couldn’t help but question his sanity but also feel so incredibly safe around him at the same time. With his backwards hat, alert mindset, and dirty little mouth, he was incredibly easy to fall for!! I loved watching him oscillate between thinking Georgia was an alien, but then not really caring because he knew she was his soulmate and he couldn’t help but want to be around her.

I loved all the quirky town updates at the beginning of each chapter, I loved the town traditions that made no sense, and I absolutely loved Big Mama, our PB&J eating raccoon! I could definitely see more being written about this town and more characters within it, and I hope we do get that from Indigo in the future because I would EAT IT UP!

Thank you to Indigo Queen for the opportunity to read this book. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.

Thank you Indigo Queen for the E-ARC of this book!

"If you were an alien sent here to destroy the Earth, or me, or both...I'd let ya."

Not going to lie I was scratching my head a little bit in the beginning, but as the content warning says you have to accept things that are just...weird. So as the people in the town of Wilflower do, I just accepted it and kept on reading lol. Honestly this was such a cute, short read and the perfect palette cleanser.

Jesse- the conspiracy theorist he was, somehow stole my heart and the show with his quirks...I'm talking to you tinfoil baseball hat. His f*ck it moment was sooo good and the spice was HOT. He became so confident in those moments, such as turn around from the man who questioned why Georgia would be attracted to him, because obviously the only plausible reason is...she's an alien.
"You ain't the sorta thing a man wants. You're the sorta thing that he thanks the universe for letting' him lose sleep over."

Georgia was such a good balance of questioning everything, but also nothing at the same time. She knew to create her life in Wilflower she had to just BE. I love that she constantly reassured Jesse to help bring him out of his shell and accepted him the way he was, no changes necessary.
"But I lean in and kiss him anyway, not caring who sees. Jesse Pickens is mine. God, help me."

Let's not even get started on the town rules, morning reports, or Big mama and fam. It was cute, quirky, fun, mysterious, weird, suspenseful, and overall a fun vibe.

This is one those books that is so good that you wish you could read it again for the first time.

5/5 ⭐️
3/5 🌶

The dedication alone should be enough to convince you to read this book:

"To anyone who thinks they're too weird to be loved- you're definitely not weirder than Jesse. To the girls who have a very weird, very unexplainable attraction to Dale Gribble. I got you."

Georgia finds herself in a town hidden from the world where tons of strange things happen. She moves next door to a man named Jesse who thinks aliens are real. Clearly women like Georgia don't actually exist, so she must be an alien or a spy. The banter between these two is absolute perfection. I definitely felt the connection between these two.

The Wilflower morning report at the beginning of each chapter gave me a good laugh. There was always something silly or strange going on. Operation: Too Pretty To Be Real was a success mission.

✨️ Favorite Quotes ✨️

"You don't gotta come out in the rain. Don't know what happens to your kind when you get wet."

"Keep it up, and I'm gonna be compromised, little spy."

"Louder, Georgia. I want whoever you're working for to know what a damn good job I'm doing."

"Meant to turn away, but I couldn't. You fried my brain, darlin', like a solar flare."

"Cut the shit, Tinfoil. Aliens are what you've been looking for."

I ordered this book for my mom for Christmas because I just know she will be laughing nonstop when she reads it! Thank you SO much for an ARC of this book. I can't express how much I truly loved it.

If Wilflower could be found, I’d move there in a heartbeat. Sure, it’s a little quirky but it’s also charming. You can’t judge this town or its inhabitants until you get to know them.

Jesse is sort of like Wilflower; a mix of quirky, charming, caring, cautious, and protective. I quickly fell in love with him and he left me swooning.

I love how Jesse started out being incredibly suspicious of his new neighbor, Georgia. When Georgia came to Wilflower she wasn’t looking for anything in particular other than a fresh start.
Between Georgia just showing up one day and Jesse’s love for conspiracy theories it adds a fun, low angst level of tension between them. The banter and nicknames were great! I couldn’t get enough of these two.

I love that the town, neighbors, and weirdness were as much part of the plot as Georgia and Jesse’s story.

This was incredibly fun to read. I highlighted a lot in this book because I loved so many quotes & moments. This is one of my favorites for the year.

My review wouldn’t be complete without giving a shoutout to an adorable raccoon & her family. I love you guys. You were too cute!!! 🦝🥪💚

I laughed from beginning to end reading this book! The Wilflower reports at every new chapter were hilarious enough on their own, but throw in Jesse and Georgia and the many antics and you’ll be doubled over in laughter! This story was truly an amazing read, fun, witty, keeps you on your toes wondering what out of this world thing is going to happen next! And the romance is so wholesome and heartwarming! Don’t get me wrong their some spice thrown in there too but I just loved Georgia and Jesse’s relationship! The chemistry is there immediately, but the slow build from suspicious strangers full of tension, to a friendship filled with banter, to lovers that were willing to accept, cherish and protect one another no matter what was just absolutely perfect! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a fantastic read, with a plot that keeps you guessing but in a fun way, amazing characters, so much banter, plenty of hilarious moments, a beautifully written romance, and the perfect happily ever after!

Came for the cozy sci-fi, stayed for Jesse and his praise kink. 😉

This was such a fun read! I loved the FMC, Georgia, and the MMC, Jesse was the best! Jesse had spent his live being looked down upon for his quirks and conspiracies, so to have Georgia finally see him and accept him was so sweet and wholesome. Both characters have their traumatic pasts and Wildflower gave them a community and space to heal and love again.

I greatly enjoyed the depiction of the townspeople and the eeriness and strangeness of what was going on around town. There was definitely a mystery that I couldn’t wait until the end to figure out. The ending was a little open ended, but also satisfying.

The romance was so well done, Jesse is convinced something is up with Georgia, but also can’t stay away from her! And the spice was hot! 🥵 I ate it up! I love a dual POV romance. I highly recommend!

I’m slowly dipping my toe into sci-fi and let me tell you this was the perfect book to get me into sci-fi.

This book follows Jesse a small town weirdo who is tinfoil crazy, but who has a soft spot for animals and for Georgia . He is super weird but in a charming and silly way! When I first started reading this and realized he was one of the crazy alien people I thought oh great this is going to be rough,

BOY WAS I WRONG, he’s funny, he’s sweet and he just cares for his small town.

Georgia bought a camper and ran away from her life, she’s sweet, confident and overall a great character. She cared and listened to Jesse and was never judgemental!

I love their relationship, it’s was believable and there relationship just made the book so much better!

I love the story and I loved how well written this book was, it was funny it had some very hot scenes and it’s was just a great read!

I love me a good alien 👽

Georgia needed a change in her life. She finds herself in Wilflower. Jesse is instantly weary of Georgia. He believes with his whole heart that she is a "alien". He is watching her every move. Yet he can't deny the attraction he feels towards Georgia, even if she is a "mole person".

OMG. I loved this book so much. I would not mind being accepted as a resident of Wilflower. The town itself is quirky like its residents. Everyone I met was a hoot. Jesse is a golden retriever. He is to be protected at all costs. Him and his tinfoil hat. The innocent way that he would say innuendos without knowing was hilarious.

Besides the humans, the animals are stars too. Love Big Mama and her babies. Yet, you have to watch out for the squirrels. Jesse believes they are spies. Humans and Aliens alike will love this book. It is out of this world, a must read!

OMG this book was so stinking fun! I loved it! Jesse was epic, Georgia was perfection!

Georgia broke away from her family after catching her fiancé with her sister, and her parents said she was being dramatic… so she bought a trailer in a town that she had never heard of sight unseen and in a town that will only let you find it when it is ready of you.

Jesse is Georgias neighbor and he is uber suspicious of who/what she is and what she wants.

Jesse was so quirky and Georgia just rolled with it, I love that she didn’t try to change Jesse that she fell for him just the way he was… it was super special 🫶

I’m not gonna say anything else because the quirks are fun and going in blind was a blast!

Can you give a book 10 stars? Because that’s how many this one should have. Indigo Queen has quickly become my favorite author, since I had the pleasure of reading Getting Color and Bladed. The way she can write a southern character is just 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽. Seriously, it’s perfect. Now on to this book.
This book had everything. A hot sexy conspiracy theorist with a dirty mouth (Jesse), and a curvy, sexy, witty FMC (Georgia).
A town that exists, but doesn’t exist…I mean, those Wilflower daily updates at the top of each chapter???? Freakin genius. I cracked up laughing every single time.
And now, one of the best parts of the book….BIG MAMA the raccoon and her babies! I mean, come on! I love any book with an animal, but a raccoon?? Hands down favorite, next to cats. I don’t want to give spoilers, so I will just say….RUN NOW AND GET THIS BOOK! You can thank me later.

This has to be the most surprisingly sweet and quirky romcom I have read this entire year. I absolutely adored Jesse and his quirky paranoia! The town of Wildflower? It feels like it's calling my name! Sweet and sassy Georgia? A curvy queen who likes Jesse's quirks and makes amazing donuts, that was willing to drop everything and move to a town not on any maps, that no one knows about to a trailer a drunk old lady sold her in a bar? My kind of person. Adorkable conspiracy theorist Jesse with a dirty mouth, suspicious about everything, with sunglasses and a backwards cap? Sold. Add in the light mystery, a few twists and turns and a couple HUGE reveals? A new comfort read that I'll be revisiting over and over again.

I really enjoyed this book, from start to finish it was so intriguing because it’s so different than anything I’ve ever read. Not just a conspiracy theorist and a girl he thinks might be an alien but we’re talking feral clocks, a very suspicious sink hole, and a pb&j loving raccoon bestie.

This also isn’t just weird people in a normal town or normal people in a weird town. Everything about this book was weird and keeps you locked in because of how weird it is and I really love that about it.

I really loved Jesse’s personality and I love that Georgia loves it too 🥹💕

I hope there is somehow a book two because I just wanted to keep on going.

Also, I was living for the morning reports like literally the morning reports were giving main character energy.

This book is a rom com treasure!

Flirtatious mystery and cozy conspiracies the whole way through this was such a cute read! Both Georgia and Jesse are great characters. The banter between them and basically everyone else is so top tier! Even Jesse’s own internal monologue is a treat!

I love the twists and turns in this book and discovering the storyline and new quirks of this little town right along with Georgia. The addition of Big Mama and her babies is just a cherry on top of the whimsy of this read.

I adored this and cannot wait to hopefully read more from Wilflower!

Conspiracy theories, aliens, weird towns, and raccoons? I am fully sold! I loved every minute of this book and I absolutely inhaled it!

If you ever listened to the Welcome to Nightvale podcast, stick Nightvale into Texas and remove some of the "darker" bits, then you have Wilflower! I loved the news headlines at the start of every chapter and each character was wonderful (especially Big Mama).

I wish I could tell you all of my favorite things about these characters but that would end up spoiling bits of the story, so all I can say is go read this book as soon as you possibly can!

✨ARC Review✨

Aliens, conspiracy theories, 90’s vibes and raccoons = perfect cozy romance. This book was so fun and quirky! It’s unlike any book I’ve read and I am here for it! Just like Wilflower, it has a personality of its own. Georgia and Jesse have such great banter. Following their journey was such a fun ride. My only complaint is that there isn’t more. Would love to see this as a series and explore more of Wilflower and how it came to be and the residents that make it such a great place to be.
