Danielle Torres is used to fighting her way to the front of the pack, on and off the track. In a male dominated sport that never gave her a fair shot, she's earned every inch of her success through grit and guarded pride. But after a scandal with her former crew chief nearly derailed her career, Danielle has learned the hard way that being strong sometimes means going it alone.
Jasai Henderson isn’t just the season’s most talked about rookie; he’s magnetic, media-trained and already everyone’s favorite. He’s put in years of grind to make it to this point, and he’s coming for everything he feels is owed to him, including the top spot in The Winner’s Circle. Pure love of the sport and determination have made him hungry, so hungry that he’ll do nearly anything to get his fill.
When a shared sponsorship forces Jasai and Danielle into a high-profile partnership, their clashing personalities spark fireworks in front of the cameras and tension behind closed doors. She sees him as a threat to her focus. He sees past the armor she’s desperate to protect. In the end, they’re left with a high-octane, ego-driven pull that will either force them both off the track or catapult them into Victory Lane.
In The Perfect Rivals, Danielle is trying to get her image and career back on track after it was tarnished in the last racing season. Jasir is the new kid in town with it being his first year racing and he has a lot of hype around him already. The idea is posed for them to fake date each other to help fix her image but soon the lines blur between real and fake.
It was nice watching Danielle and Jasir be so comfortable around each other from the beginning and the chemistry was definitely there even when they were pretending. Once they decided to make it real that just amplified things and it all seemed so easy with them. Jasir had that don’t play about mine attitude and I liked that about him. I enjoyed the family dynamic on both sides as well.
This book was not only a romance story but a redemption story and it made for a good read.
Thank you Lanette for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
The Perfect Rivals will keep you turning pages late into the night. Expect the rush of competition, the pull of romance, and the thrill of watching two rivals collide in the best way.”
Danielle is a fierce racer fighting to earn respect in a sport dominated by men. No matter how skilled she is, there’s always someone ready to knock her down.
Jasai is the golden-boy rookie with the Midas touch, determined to claim the championship cup this season.
When their worlds collide on the track, sparks fly both in rivalry and in attraction. But when one of them needs help off the track, an unexpected plan forces them closer than either anticipated. Soon, the chemistry between them proves just as explosive as their battles for first place.
Do I recommend? Yes, all the way to the finish line!
I am just getting into my racing bag, so when I was blessed with an ARC of “The Perfect Rivals” which is a book about two NASCAR racers that need to fake date to bring about good publicity. I was IN!! This book really captured the rivals, to friends to lovers PERFECTLY!! Along with the research that had to have gone into the sport in order to accurately paint some of the story, I completely loved it!! The way they protect and genuinely care for each other, they were definitely a force to be reckoned with!! I’ve already recommended this read to others, but I’ll continue recommending it. Definitely a 10/10 for me!!
I love that the drama wasnt about Jasai and Danielle it was outside sources. This was a slow, steady romance and I loved the friends on both crews plus Enzo and Mercedes were like the older wiser sibling you need.
Danielle and Jasai’s story was adorable! I love that Jasai admired Danielle even before they got together. The rivals-to-lovers trope has become one of my favorites this year.
