All My Hexes is the prequel novella to Live Love Lasso, releasing winter 2025. It's not necessary to read prior to that book but it'll help give you a taste of the series!

Shadow

It was just a girl's weekend in the darling country haven of Pine Gulch. Our priorities were mead, shopping and men—in that order. Lucky for me, a handsome gargoyle bartender catches my eye. He promises me a tour of his garden, which is every green witch's love language. Peen and plants? Sign me up.

But it turns out that Dain and I have a far deeper connection than either of us expected. Being together is as easy as breathing, so when he asks me to stay for an extra few days to see where this goes, I agree without a second thought. Pine Gulch is full of hidden corners of beauty, from the herd of mustangs to the stunning gulch and the incredible pumpkin maze.

Being with Dain in his home haven is a dream, but I have to get back to reality—my job and responsibilities and everything I love about New York. Yet leaving him feels like the hardest thing I've ever done. So what's a girl to do when she finds out her man is a wild west cowboy with a dominant streak?

This was short, sweet, and cozy. Shadow was a boss bitch who found love on a vacay to a small western town. Dain was a sexy gargoyle one night stand with all the protective and doting vibes. It’s very instalove and is a good palate cleanser.

Spice: 3/5

Triggers: mention of parental disappointment

4 ⭐️ The new Ever After Series is here!

Pine Gulch here we come! I am so excited for this one too. This novella was just a little taste of PG, which we also got in Misbehaving With Minotaurs, and it only left me wanting more.

Shadow is a green witch visiting Pine Gulch for one of their famous festivals with her best friends when she meets Dain at one of the night's festivities. He's a bartender on one of the Saloons in town and they immediately hit it off.

This is a HFN ending, which doesn't tend to happen with Hazel Mack books. Even with her novellas, there usually aren't this many unaswered questions by the end the book. I don't really know how I feel about that, to be honest, but I know that there are details and hopefully some other scene out there that we can see in Lemon's book. I am, however, genuinely sad that we won't get to see It's my favourite part of Gargoyle's lore in this universe and I'm just down about it not happening.

Still, I know we'll see this two in Lemon's book, so I am going to wait and reserve some of my judgement until then.

So much magic, cosiness and good vibes rolled into one Novella! I’m just about done packing my bags and heading to Pine Gulch as we speak.

°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・

🌻 This was such a good introduction to the Pine Gulch Ever After series! I felt such a sense of beauty and calm from PG that had me yearning to be there with my whole heart and soul. I know that a trip there would fix me 😂 Hazel did the most amazing job at showcasing how idyllic PG is in only 79 pages! That’s insane to me. I had all the warm fuzzy feelings and I really enjoyed my time with this novella. We are shown so much of this small town in a way that leaves you wanting more. I felt Shadows sadness in having to leave because girl, you would have to drag me away kicking and screaming.

🌻 I need Dain in ways that are concerning to feminism and I make no apologies. He takes care of his Green witch Shadow, with gifts of plant cuttings and cute sunset dates to sunflower meadows. The whole sunflower field scene genuinely had me tearing up. I will be sending Hazel my therapy bill because how can you make a sunflower even cooler and more whimsical than it already is??? Sitting in that field with my sunshine boyfriend isn’t a want it’s a neeeeeed.

🌻I’m going to dive headfirst into the next book of the series ‘Live Love Lasso’ immediately! I need more of this series and more of Hazel’s writing!!

I loved this Pine Gulch novella! I actually read it after Live Love Lasso because I'm insane idk. Shadow goes on a girl's trip and ends up getting way more than she expected. I loooooved the pacing of this novella because it honestly felt both quick but not so insta-lovey that I was like alright can we get a little more development? I loved how Dain and Shadow's relationship progressed and seeing a real point of concern for their relationship was refreshing. Also, does that cover NOT make you want to pick this up??? I mean, c'mon!

This prequel novella did two things for me:
- make me realize I never finished the Haven Ever After series, a tragedy that must be remedied
- has me excited to start a new series with all the monsters I know and love set in a dusty old western town.. but with magic.

This was a fun little moment and it made me really excited for Macks' upcoming new Pine Gulch Ever After series! 😍 This takes place right before book one and learning little bits about PG in this novella has made me even more curious about this town, its history, and whether it will finally welcome a special Keeper to watch over it? I thought for a second that would be Shadow since all signs seemed to point to her being very much aligned with the original Keeper’s persona and abilities as a Green Witch.

I liked Shadow—she was sassy, smart, surprisingly shy at times, and has a great affinity for all things plants. I loved her ambition! Dain was a bit harder to get a read on but I liked his thoughtfulness and how absolutely smitten he was with Shadow. That date he organized was very sweet and the whole plant magic with the sunflowers and moonflowers sounded beautiful! 😍 There’s definitely an insta-love connection here thanks to the ‘fated mates’ trope and y’know, even if it was a weekend fling that turned into something much more, I had a great time with it! I think monster/paranormal romance is generally the only time where I can deal with the ‘mates’ trope cos it just makes sense. 😂 I liked that although they get their HEA (or HFN?), they both didn’t just uproot their lives after a weekend of knowing each other. It took a bit of time (or as much time as a novella allows) and even then, by the end, there wasn’t an immediate move or final decision other than a firm commitment on both ends.

Already counting down the days to Mack's new series—I can't wait!

I AM SO EXCITED TO BE BACK IN THE HAZEL MACK HAVEN WORLD 🌎

i loved seeing all of the little hints and lore drops we got about the other havens in the haven ever after series, and getting to venture into the haven of pine gulch was just as entertaining as i knew it would be. the magic system and worldbuilding that hazel has done for these series is so rich and immersive, without it being way too heavy for my brain (which can struggled with high fantasy--i am jealous of all you high fantasy devourers out there, pour one out for me). you can tell that so much planning has gone into how everything will function, what little things mean, and the way it's all described has you going, "yeah, that makes perfect sense," even if it's something about gargoyles and something called a keeper and magical watches that let you communicate with anybody. i love it there, i want to live there 😭

and this was such a perfect introduction to our new haven and some of the major players, without being overwhelming like the lore drop in some first books of new series can be. i think having a novella to start off a new series was the perfect choice, and i so so SO enjoyed getting to meet shadow and dain this way. they were everything, and my lil gargoyle loving self was so happy. i can't wait to read about everyone else falling in love in pine gulch 🥰

in kate's keys,
- GARGOYLES AND FATED MATES, WHAT ELSE COULD YOU WANT
- beautiful little cozy setting of a small western town 🤠
- supportive and loving girl group (and they all have such fun names)
- quintessential hazel spice 💋
8.5/10✨

I get that this is a prequel and a novella but it's for an interconnected stand alone series and we won't get to focus on this couple again and the ending was pretty open. It didn't feel complete which is why it lost a star but I do have a feeling that the next book we'll see them again even if they're side characters which will be nice.

Spoilers after this but honestly it's a novella so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Other than the open ending it was a good read. It's only 80 pages and despite the kinda instaloveness of it all, the relationship seemed pretty well developed. She didn't have to give up living in her city and he didn't have to give up living in his small town. He was understanding of how she lives where she lives and has a career there and didn't force her to give it up which was nice and she didn't give it up for him either which is also nice.
They also decided to wait to fully mate until they figured out where they wanted to live together which was smart so I can't be too too mad at the open ending because that was practical. But I am still sad that we won't get to see their relationship grow and be completed from their perspective since the next book/first book of the series is from her friend's perspective.

This is a fun paranormal cowboy novella! It is a prequel in the Pine Gulch Ever After series, (which is in the Haven Ever After series) but can easily be read as a standalone.

Green witch human FMC Riven is on a girls’ trip to the wild west Haven Pine Gulch. After a night out, when her friends have all gone their separate ways, she decides to take the sexy gargoyle bartender up on his offer to show her his… plants.

This is a fun, easy read with charming chemistry between the characters as they explore the wild west town. I loved getting to see not only Pine Gulch but also the New York Haven.

This novella serves as a great teaser for the series. I can’t wait to see what happens in the first full-length book in the series Live, Love, Lasso, expected to release at the end of 2025 or early 2026.

This super short - 80 pages! - novella feels like it’s teeing up Haven Ever After cowboy edition and I ain’t mad. The setting is rustic and cozy. These books are so so easy to read, even with every page full of world-building of one kind or another. Those familiar with the monsters of Haven Ever After will find much the same. If not, it will provide a quick crash course on some of the rules and players in this universe. Shadow & Dain are sweet, but at such a short length we get only a taste of the start of their relationship. Looking forward to seeing them pop up in the main series when it kicks off!

When a one night stands turns into forever. Shadow, a no nonsense green witch, was just out for a fun festival in Pine Gulch, she didn't expect to find Dain, the just her type gargoyle, and be completely swept off her feet.
.
This was a really sweet and spicy novella, and an excellent sneak peek into the setting and some of the characters for the upcoming Pine Gulch Ever After books!
As always, Mack has delivered a fun, cozy, and swoony read.
.
I'm so glad we are getting more monster haven shenanigans!

A City Girl for a Gargoyle

They have a cute/meet at a bar he's working at, sparks fly, they meet up after his shift, he takes her to a pumpkin maze and they have a romantic interlude. She stays an extra day so they can be together. He knows and she knows. Problem is, they live in different Havens. I'm rooting for her to get a green witch job in PG. It's hard to maintain a long distance relationship, but they are making it work. I can't wait to read more stories about her besties adventures. This was just as good as the other Haven series.

Hazel Mack is an auto-read author for me and I love all the stories happening in the town of Ever and it’s neighbouring towns such as Pine Gulch! I loved the setting and the setting up for more with this bunch of friends. I’m so excited to see what comes next.

Only issue i had with this one was that I felt the ending was left a bit incomplete and I was looking forward to seeing how they overcame the distance. But I still enjoyed the story and characters.

Another fantastic book by Hazel in a new Haven that I can't wait to explore more!

Monsters meet cowboys in this new cozy Monster series. If you've finished the Haven Ever After series, you got a glimpse of Pine Gulch and this prequel gives you so much more!

I love the new characters and the uniqueness of this new Haven and how they run things. Shadow and Dain make a great couple and overcome their tricky long distance with magic, spice, and more.

All my hexes was a very cute novella and a fun look into other havens in the Haven Ever After Universe—we even got a little Morgan and Abe reference 😍 (gimme more of them please!!!). Keeping in mind that it’s a novella, I think the cute instalove story was done pretty well. I would have liked a little epilogue of them actually becoming mates and Dain getting his heartbeat, but I’m assuming we’ll see that in the first book that’s coming out, just not in their POVs.

What’s a girl gotta do to get a Gargoyle BF?!

This was such a cute, spicy little novella, that hit all the right spots. I also have to say “cementing the bond” really tickled my brain with… Dain being a Gargoyle. I can’t wait to see what comes next-I’m thoroughly intrigued by Lemon!

Those Haven gargoyle males...🥵 I LOVE Dain and Shadow. From the moment they met they knew their connection was something special. This is the perfect weekend read - swoony monster males, sweet & spicy, and friends that always have your back.

It was a great first look into Hazel's new series. I can't wait to see what else the Gulch brings us!

A quick and fun prequel to get you warmed up for the Pine Gulch series this author has planned.

I actually liked it a lot and kind of wished the author took a bit more time to expand this couple's relationship and dynamic but we'll most likely see them in the full 1st book coming out. i'm excited to read more from this author and I'm looking forward to reading the next one!

I loved this novella! A cozy monster romance that just makes your heart fluttery and warm. Though it’s a quick read the characters make you fall in love with them from the first time you meet until the very end. The storyline pulls you in making you feel right at home in Pine Gulch. 100% recommend reading when you’re looking for a lighthearted read.

This left me wanting more because Dain and Shadow are not only HOT but their connection was so cute and sweet. They knew from day one they were it for each other and it only got better from there. A great prequel for a new series I can't wait to enjoy!

So cute! I love the Pine Gulch vibes and getting more of it in this novella. And Shadow seems like such a nice person I loved her and Dain. I wish this was a full book and not just a novella because I need to know how their story ends! Also I want more on the fun plants in PG.

A fun little novella. If you're a fan of Ever and Hazel Mack, you'll love this little installment. It's cute, fun, and spicy in equal measures. Because of the length, you don't quite get tye resolution that I prefer in my books, but given the brevity of the story, it is to be expected.

This was so cute 😭 I'm sad this was a novella because I could've used 200+ more pages on these characters. I wish we had gotten a more conclusive ending but hopefully we get much more of their story in the future PG books!

Short and just ok. MMC was good, would have liked him in a full book. There was a decent amount of spice given how short it was. The ending was meh, but I’m guessing it will get resolved as part of the next one.

Dain and Shadow

I really liked Dain and Shadow's story but I felt like the ending left me hanging for more of a closure. Maybe there is more of their story in the next book. Even though it didn't feel complete to me I still thought it was very good.
