He’s too young. Too intense. Too much like the life she’s trying to outrun. Ashionye, a seasoned gallery manager, meets Leo, a younger, brooding artist, while scouting fresh talent for Bibi Art Gallery. Neither expects their worlds to collide in a way that feels both electric and terrifying. But as Ashionye grapples with her father’s reputation as a man notorious for chasing younger women, she questions whether her growing feelings for Leo are a reflection of her own fears—or a path to something real.
Camaa Pearl writes unforgettable, sizzling slow-burn romance for lovers of plot and steam. She is an international bestselling author and storyteller with a refreshingly unique style that borders between reality and fiction.

This was not the story I expected, but in the best way. I went into this thinking it would center on Leo and his journey, but as I kept reading, it became clear that this story is much bigger than him. In my opinion, it’s really about Ash; her choices, and her fears.
At its core, this is a love story. But beyond the romance, what stood out to me the most was Ashionye’s journey. I saw a woman who refused to be boxed in by her father’s reputation or follow in the footsteps of her mother. She didn’t settle. She didn’t stay silent. Instead, she chose herself and carved her own path. I loved that this book explored what it means to want more for yourself, to refuse crumbs when you’re capable of building the whole bakery.
I also really appreciated the presence of strong support systems. Both Ashionye and Leo had people in their corners, friends and family who showed up for them. It added a layer of warmth and realism to the story. Another unexpected highlight for me was the art. As someone with little knowledge of it, I enjoyed getting a glimpse into the work behind the scenes, the intention, the process, and the meaning behind what we often just see as “a painting.”
And then there’s Leo. I liked how grounded and emotionally mature he was. The age gap dynamic especially with the woman being older, was something the story didn’t shy away from. But I appreciated that Leo didn’t allow it to become a barrier, even when Ashionye tried to use it as one.
Overall, Implication is a story about love, identity, and the courage to choose yourself, even when it’s uncomfortable.
I really liked this book. Not because of Zena and Lekan’s cameo, even though I screamed every time Zena showed up. Not because the love story was extraordinary. Not because of the spice. But because you can tell when an author truly puts effort into their work. I was genuinely fascinated by how well this was written. I’m not sure if the author has any background in art, but I’m sure I do not have and everything was explained so clearly that I was never lost.
Compared to Imagine That, this one had a much more solid and intriguing plot. I won’t lie, I loved the story. It actually reminded me of Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez. It has that reverse age gap dynamic, with a nepo FMC whose life was controlled by her father until she finally breaks out and creates her own path. The similarities made me enjoy it even more because I loved POYW so much.
Leo is such an interesting character. What stood out to me is that he actually behaves his age. He’s smart, hardworking, and understands what it means to be at someone’s mercy. He’s not proud or boastful, just focused and deserving of everything he achieves. Also, he’s genuinely adorable.
Ash… Ash baby, Ash sugar mommy. That Seychelles scene? So sexy. I won’t lie, I wanted to be Leo so bad. I really liked Ash. She’s not perfect, and at the beginning, she honestly scared me with how strict she was. But she was written so well, and I especially loved how she handled things with her dad.
This is also the first Camaa Pearl book where I didn’t really care for the spice (I loved that Leo is an eater though😌). The spice just didn’t matter because I was so invested in the characters and their lives.
That said, I do think some of the dialogue could have been stronger. At times, it felt a bit empty, especially considering how emotionally connected the characters were supposed to be. It felt like they had more to say but didn’t fully say it.
Overall, this is a really good story. If you enjoy reverse age gap, art, and the world of artists, you’ll love this.
Thank you to Camaa Pearl for the chance to read an early copy of Implications.
When I read in the synopsis that the MMC was "too young," I was guessing it would be maybe a 10-year+ gap, but in this case, I don't think a 5-year difference is too young.
One thing I love about Implications was the fact that a strong and powerful woman, Ashionye, was doing incredibly well in what she does – curatorial director!!! I love the representation of a boss lady! Ash wants to be seen for who she is and what she offers, not as Chief Pogoson's daughter, and I loved that she had the idea to break out from his hold right from the beginning!
Then we meet Leo, the artist, the one who makes beautiful things come alive, the one whose art is his life! Leo is very passionate about his work, his art, and his career, and I loved that that didn't change even when he met Ash. At one point, I was like, so all the women that artists love – do they get to be their muse?
But something was just off for me between our main characters. I have read one of The Yoruba demon books, and the chemistry between the MCs was something else, but with Leo and Ash, it was milder. It took a minute before I could warm up to their love story. Ash was always holding back, keeping Leo at arm's length for so long, and tbh, I found the reason not holding water for me. And I get that this is a slow burn, but the slow burn wasn't for me at all 😅.
Overall, I loved that Ash broke out of the perfect, laid-out plans that her father has had for her and chose her own path and, finally, chose her lover – a love that makes you feel seen!! Let's not even talk about Mr. Pogoson 😮💨. Thank you once again for the e-ARC.
First time ARC here and I’m so happy I got to be one. How I love Leo and Ashionye the woman you’re for standing up for yourself. This is what we’re talked about,a type of love that is safe, heals and gives strength uhhhhh I loveeeee. Reading implication has peaked my interest in art now cause I know nothing about it.
When I picked up this book, I was honestly expecting just romance, but it ended up being so much more than that. It gave me romance, yes, but also chaos, art, healing, and a lot of emotional depth—and I really loved that. Leo was someone I connected with pretty early on. He’s the kind of person who tries so hard to stay in control, but when it comes to love, he completely loses that composure. That made him feel very real to me. I also liked how much art meant to him—it added something special to his character. But at the same time, I didn’t like how he sometimes let people walk all over him. That part was frustrating to read. Ash is very different. On the outside, she’s strong, focused, and all about her work. She seems like she has everything together. But deep down, she’s dealing with fear and years of trying to be who other people expect her to be. I admired her ambition, but I won’t lie, it annoyed me how long she stayed stuck in that mindset. Still, seeing her finally grow and start choosing herself made it worth it. And Violet… wow. She didn’t just annoy me, she exhausted me. The constant interference, the unnecessary comments, the subtle manipulation—it was too much. It felt like she always had something to say or some way to insert herself where she wasn’t needed. And what made it worse was how she carried herself like she was right all the time. I kept waiting for her to mind her business or at least show some growth, but she really tested my patience from start to finish. What made this story stand out for me wasn’t just the relationship, but everything around it. Ash walking away from her father after seeing his true colors and deciding to build something for herself was such a strong moment. Her mother leaving a toxic marriage added another layer to the story, and I liked how it showed that it’s never too late to start again. Leo also had his own struggles, coming from a place where he was manipulated, but he still chose a better path for himself, which I respected.
Now the reverse age gap? I really liked how it was handled here. It didn’t feel like it was added just for shock value or to be “different.” It actually made sense for their characters. Ash being older didn’t make her overly dominant or controlling, and Leo being younger didn’t make him immature or unserious. If anything, there were moments where Leo felt more emotionally open, while Ash was the one holding back because of everything she had been conditioned to believe about how her life should look.
The book is definitely a slow burn, but not the boring kind. It keeps you interested the whole time. There were moments I had to pause, not because I was tired of reading, but because I needed a second to take everything in. At the end of the day, this book is about more than love. It’s about growth, breaking out of toxic situations, finding your voice, and having the courage to choose yourself—even when it’s hard.

First of all, this is my first time reading Camaa Pearl and I’m honestly impressed. I went in expecting a full-blown romance, but what I got was so much more. This book is not just love, it’s chaos, healing, self-discovery, and the courage to choose yourself.
The reverse age gap? I loved it. We definitely need more stories where the woman is older, and this was done so well. Nothing felt forced or awkward. It was natural, emotional, and deeply layered.
Leo… I knew from early on that I was going to be invested in him. There’s something about a man who tries so hard to stay composed but completely unravels when it comes to the person he loves. His connection to art made him even more compelling, but I won’t lie, there were moments where I didn’t like how much he allowed himself to be walked over.
Ash, on the other hand, is strong, driven, and very intentional on the surface. But underneath all that, she’s soft, scared, and shaped by years of trying to live up to expectations. I loved her ambition, but it was frustrating watching her stay stuck in other people’s opinions for so long. That said, her growth? Worth it.
And Violet… yeah, no words. Just know she tested my patience.
What really made this book stand out for me is that it goes beyond romance. It’s about breaking free. Ash walking away from her father and choosing her own path was such a powerful moment. Her mother leaving a toxic marriage added even more depth, and Leo choosing a healthier path despite his background made the story feel real and grounded.
There was honestly no dull moment for me. It’s a slow burn, yes, but one that keeps you engaged the entire time. The kind where you pause not because you’re bored, but because you need to process what you just read.
At its core, this book is about choosing your happiness, being vulnerable with the right people, and having the courage to start again.
ARC Review ✨ I sat for the longest time trying to figure out exactly how I feel about this book, and the only word that kept surfacing was "wow." Interestingly, it isn’t just for the obvious reasons.
As an art enthusiast, I was completely blown away by the world-building. Camaa Pearl paints realistic, vivid scenarios that feel tactile; the descriptions of the galleries, the meticulous creative process, and the depiction of artist’s lifestyle were so evocative that my imagination had plenty of material to work with.
Now, I am usually not one for reverse age-gap romance, but this story is an exception. And my reason for that is because of the MMC. Leonard is mature far beyond his years. He is thoughtful, intentional, and a true gentleman, written with a level of depth that makes falling for him inevitable. Ashionye on the other hand, is a typical Camaa Pearl’s FMC. By that I mean, a quintessential boss lady. She is assertive, self-aware, confident and unapologetically in control of her space. When you put these two in the same orbit, the chemistry is ‘la hotttt’ 🔥🥵
Another highlight for me was Ash’s character arc. Seeing her refuse to bend to her father’s will and finding the courage to establish her own footing was incredibly rewarding. Do not let any parent define who are you and what you are meant to be. And that’s on periodt!
I also loved the reflection of Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID). It was a subject I was entirely unfamiliar with before picking up this book. And that was quite eye-opening. My only minor grievance is that I expected this medical condition to be explored more once Ash and Leo coupled up. It felt as though the author completely forgot about that. But, it doesn’t take away from how beautifully written this story is. And at this point, I don’t think you should ask me if I recommend. Of course I do!
This novel, like all of Camaa Pearl’s books, was absolutely spot on.
It beautifully explores the life of the stunning, elegant, and eloquent Ashionye, and her journey toward self-discovery and love. From the very beginning, her coldness toward the MMC had me completely hooked. She was clearly out of his league, and her refusal to even spare him a glance made watching their story unfold all the more captivating.
I truly admired how she made a conscious decision early on to be different from her mother. Her strength in walking away from the life she had always known, just to build one she could proudly call her own, was incredibly inspiring.
And then there’s Leo… Leo, Leo, Leo.
He is such a sweet man. Like a true artist, he’s deeply in touch with his emotions, and that’s what made me love him even more. My favorite thing about him is how unafraid he is to express exactly how he feels. He fell first, he fell fast, and he never once tried to hide it. In fact, he was practically on his knees, begging her to give them a chance. And honestly, who doesn’t love a man who yearns?
I also really enjoyed the reverse age gap dynamic, and the fact that she was his boss added an extra layer of depth. It spoke volumes about Leo’s confidence and security in himself.
This man was ready to risk it all just for a chance with the beautiful Ashionye.
My only slight struggle was with fully appreciating the art descriptions. As someone new to books centered around painting and wall art, I found myself skimming through a few of the more technical parts. That said, I absolutely loved how the emotions behind each piece were always vividly conveyed.
Overall, this book is such a warm, feel-good read—perfect for a cozy, rainy day. I truly hope you enjoy it as much as I did ❤️
When I picked up this book, I was expecting full-blown romance… but I got the entire package that came with it: chaos, art, healing and I absolutely loved it.
Leo was a character I knew I was going to be invested in. There’s something about a man who tries to hold himself together but completely unravels when it comes to the person he loves. I loved how deeply he connects with art, but I didn’t like that he sometimes allowed himself to be trampled on that part didn’t sit well with me.
Ash is bossy, tough, business-driven, and all about professionalism on the surface. But underneath, she’s soft, scared, and shaped by years of trying to fit into other people’s expectations. I love a woman with ambition, but what annoyed me was how long she stayed trapped in other people’s opinions. Watching her break out of that shell was both soothing and powerful.
And Violet? She really pissed me off.
What truly elevated this story for me was the ending. It’s not just about love and romance it’s about courage. Ash walking away from her father after discovering his flaws, choosing to build something of her own from scratch, was such a defining moment. Her mother leaving that toxic marriage and starting afresh added another layer of strength and realism. Leo too, came from a place of manipulation, yet still found the strength to walk away and choose something healthier.
Overall, this is a slow-burn romance wrapped in chaos, self-discovery, and breaking free from toxic environments. It’s about finding your voice, choosing yourself, and having the courage to start again even when it’s hard.
This is the second book in the Catching Feelings series and honestly… I think I still prefer the first book. Hold on, hear me out 😭 I think my main issue was with the characters. This isn’t my first reverse age gap romance, so I know I can enjoy that trope, but here… I just didn’t fully feel the romance or the spice. It felt a bit restrained, and I found myself wishing for more emotional and romantic depth. Like Ash… why are you holding back?? 😭 That said, thank God for Leo because that “small boy” was actually giving something. He brought a certain lightness and understanding that I appreciated. I also feel like the book had a lot of potential with the medical condition that was introduced. I was expecting a deeper exploration of it, something more layered, but it didn’t quite go as far as I hoped. It felt like an opportunity that wasn’t fully developed. However, I did appreciate the emotional growth, especially with Ash and her mother. Seeing them reconnect, find their spark again, and choose their own paths was really beautiful to witness. That part felt genuine and added some heart to the story. Mr. Pogoson though… hmmm, I’m watching you 👀 Despite my reservations, I’m actually really excited for the third book. That line Nduka said to Leo — “she’s behaving as if she doesn’t know she’s going to be my wife” — yeah… my head already started drawing love bubbles 😂 And as for Temi and Ayo… we move 😭 Overall, It just didn’t fully hit for me the way I expected, especially coming from the first book. Still, it had its moments, and I’m definitely curious to see where the series goes next.
Review of Advance Reader Copy received from indie Reviewers. .He’s too young. Too intense. And dangerously close to everything she’s spent her life trying to outrun. This story doesn’t ease you in—it grips you. From the moment Ashionye, a composed and emotionally guarded gallery manager, crosses paths with Leo, a volatile, magnetic artist, there’s an undercurrent of tension that feels almost suffocating—in the best way. Their connection isn’t soft or convenient; it’s raw, consuming, and deeply unsettling. What makes it hit harder is the psychological weight behind it. Ashionye isn’t just falling for Leo—she’s confronting a reflection of everything she fears becoming. With a father known for his relentless pursuit of younger women, every emotion she feels is tangled in guilt, resistance, and a desperate need to not repeat a legacy she resents. And yet… she can’t pull away. Leo isn’t just a love interest—he’s a force. Brooding, intense, and unpredictable, he doesn’t fit neatly into her world, and maybe that’s exactly why he shakes her so deeply. This isn’t a comfortable romance. It’s sharp, messy, and emotionally charged. It asks difficult questions about desire, power, and identity—and refuses to give easy answers. Darkly compelling and impossible to ignore, this story lingers like a bruise you can’t stop pressing.
Camaa pearl really outdid herself for this, can't wait to re-read this. It's a solid 10/10 for me.

I have read books from Camaa Pearl and actually liked them so i wasn’t expecting anything less from her this time and she delivered as always. In a world where it’s so hard to get a partner who actually sees you for who you are, it’s nice having a partner who doesn’t only see you but puts you first. Despite their history with dating, I’m glad Ash and Leo made something beautiful for themselves. This book goes on to tell us no matter the age/time/ circumstances, you can build something for yourself — Ash and her mother. Ash could have stayed despite everything she uncovered but decided not to and actually went ahead to prove she could fly without her father. Ash’s mother finally leaving her husband shows real bravery and goes on to say that despite everything, make sure you choose yourself. Leo never leaving Ash’s side during the darkest point in their lives as a couple is nothing but the purest of love. In all, i would say this book was wonderfully written and it is a good read. Grab a copy and enjoy when it’s out
There was no dull moment for me reading this book, there were no long pauses except when I had to do something or think about what I just read. Implication is not just about romance, it is about choosing one's happiness over expectations, being vulnerable to those you love and who love you in turn, pursuing your ambition despite all odds.
This book is an eye opener, though fiction, that you just need to be authentically you, everyone else would be alright. The ending gave me all the satisfaction I needed, Ash was finally able to break free from the status quo placed by her father. I really didn't like him by the way!.
I loved Leo and Ash's love, it was so beautiful to read about. It is a slow burn that gives the needed vibes. I enjoyed how Camaa wrote each character and story with an in depth research that makes the book an enjoyable read.
As for Violet? I really don't know who she thinks she is 🙄.
One big lesson I learnt is that , a person is a product of how he or she grew and it takes a great effort to break free from seeds that have been sown already.
POV: You just read a book early… and now you can’t stop thinking about it 👀
I had the absolute honor of being an ARC reader for ✨ Camma Pearl Implication ✨ and wow… I’m still recovering.
This is not just a love story.
It’s about: – A woman who doesn’t believe in love – A man who is afraid to love again – And somehow… they become everything each other needs
Ashionye really left wealth, power, and her father’s empire… and built her own life from scratch. ICONIC.
And Leonard?? Soft, talented, emotionally scarred but still capable of deep love 🥺
Together? Unstoppable.
This book gave me: 💔 Healing from betrayal 🔥 Walking away from toxic family ties ✨ Choosing yourself… even when it costs everything ❤️ A love that feels safe and real
That confrontation scene with her father?? CHILLS.
I’m genuinely so grateful I got to read this before release it’s one of those stories that stays with you.
If you love: ❤️ Slow burn 🎨 Art & creative vibes 💔 Emotional depth 🔥 Strong female lead energy
READ. THIS. BOOK.
Because when it drops… trust me, everyone will be talking about it 👀
Loved reading this novel and can't wait for you all to do same..
"Camaa Pearl's latest novel is a masterclass in slow-burning tension, witty banter, and unapologetic artistry. Ashionye 'Ash' Pogoson and Leo Nwokoye are forces to be reckoned with - she's a poised socialite with secrets, he's an unfiltered artist with a penchant for truth. Their chemistry is a slow-burning fire that'll leave you breathless.
Pearl's writing is evocative and unflinching, painting vivid pictures of Lagos' high society and the characters that inhabit it. Her dialogue crackles with authenticity, and her exploration of power dynamics, identity, and vulnerability is nuanced and thought-provoking.
Get ready to be drawn into Ash's world of gallery openings, designer outfits, and carefully constructed facades - and watch as Leo tears it all down with his piercing gaze and unapologetic art. This is a romance that'll linger long after the final page.
This is arc review i hope you'll enjoy please Implication (Catching Feelings)by Camaa Pearl is out on Amazon ...
It was an interesting read , I had to read again . As a lover of slow burn romance I was hooked from the beginning . It was a realistic very very realistic not rushed . A child born into the world of art but not allowed to be an artist herself . She was doing great at her job but she wasn’t fulfilled . Great man , great artist with a disease he got from his ex , it just shows how trust can be broken even in ways we don’t expect . As a medical student when I saw HPV my head went spinning like okay so what is going to happen , the suspense , the wonder . I am glad it turned out well . To Ash’s Father I just wish more happened to you than just your wife leaving you because you did a lot . Good father to an extent but not a good husband or partner. To Ash’s mother it felt refreshing seeing her choose herself even at that age . Love can be unpredictable. Another thing I loved was the playlist included .
Implication follows Ashionye and Leonard. Leo, a rising artist, and Ash, a gallery owner, who meet at BAG (her father’s gallery) and somehow manage to zinggg.
Now, both Leo and Ash have had their fair share of heartbreak so I understand why the romance wasn’t fast-paced. It’s a slow burn, so if you’re not into that just prepare your mind.
Also, It’s a reverse age gap romance and I can’t even lie, I’m developing a soft spot for that trope
What really stood out to me was the message. The self discovery.
Especially when Ash finally left her father’s gallery. It was such a satisfying moment.
Can we talk about the ovarian surgery at the beginning?? I actually had to pause and go and do my own research, and I’m glad I did. (So yes, for those that said you can’t learn from fiction, YOU CAN)
I’m looking forward to seeing what the next book in the catching feeling series brings.
Implication is such a beautiful read and someone that is a fan of the author Camaa pearl I didn’t expect nothing less. My first thought of the book is that it’s going to be a full romance book between the older woman Ash and the younger man Leo,There is romance in the book and a lot of it but the book thought me how to put myself first and to believe in my dreams and don’t stay building other people’s dreams like how Ash abandoned her dreams to build her father’s legacy and there is the talented artist Leo ,Mr lover boyyy 😩 He portrayed that although he is younger he could handle ash. Implication portrayed healing, slow burn romance, late bloom and believing in one’s talent and giving it your all!! It’s such a beautiful read and I really can’t wait till it comes out and everyone gets to read this book. Well done our author Camaa pearl👏
Firstly thank you Camaa pearl for giving an opportunity to be an advanced reader although i started I finished late cause of school work. But sincerely I imagined every character of this book. I like how it was explained why some characters were introduced and disappointed like Temi who was her best friend but wasn’t there until the end and the introduction of Didi as well. Generally a love story with art involved is always very risky and requires sacrifices. But Ash and Leo’s story was one for the books. I loved how Leo encouraged her not to give up on her dreams even after being told her dreams weren’t valid almost all her life … I loved that she put herself first and it just shows that shouldn’t give up on your dreams The 18+ scenes had me screaming 😭Leo take it easy a younger guy with aura and dominance common!!! Overall I loved the character development of both main characters 💗

I LOVE every part of this book. I think it's safe to say Ash and Leo "grew" together in love. They both had parts of their life that needed growth and change and it was beautiful to see this growth while they held on to each other. I also love how the reality of them being in a relationship was explored and how they navigated it. It was beautiful to see Leo come into a more confident and sure part of himself while Ash also broke her father's hold on her and choose her own path. This is a great ROMANCE book with angst and actual yearning!!! 10/10 across boards!!!
Wheewww!!!!!!!! Where do I even start from???? I didn’t know I will enjoy Leo and Ash story this much… the intentionality in writing this book made it so good. So good that I didn’t even want it to end.. Leonard Nwokoye????? I think I’ve added him to one of my best MMC.. I know I like morally gray characters but I will make an exception for Leo.. he was so protective, intentional and loved Ashionye to the every end!!!! Oh Ashionye my baby.. I love how she chose herself after 33 years of being under her father’s shadow.. (I hope life treats her well where ever she is)
The plot, the pacing ,spice??? A 10/10 for me .. Full review will be on my IG page
This is a beautiful slow burn, reverse age gap love story, that not just about “love” but the whole process of getting to that place where you’re able to recognize it. This story talks about choosing yourself even when it seems like if you do everything would all apart due to the uncertainty of it all. Letting go of toxic relationships and emotions and healing, from the inner side out. But also knowing that there is someone who really and truly sees you💕
It's 5:30 AM and I just finished reading this book/ARC (including the extended epilogue). This is the "slowest" burn book I've ever read and at one point, I started feeling bored. But it's an interesting romance story about finding and choosing yourself, walking out of situations that don't serve you, and dropping your guard to experience true love again.
I enjoyed the book so much and my favourite character was Leonard (Leo). 😍 I loved Ashionye (Ash) too but she stressed me and this book was slow because of her.
If Ashionye ever opens a masterclass on carriage, elegance, and being that girl, consider my tuition paid in full. She is everything. …And Leonard? The way his locs are described should be illegal. I’ve never wanted to reach through a page and touch hair so badly in my life. This book is about defying the consequences, following your heart, and finally choosing yourself.
One thing I love about this book is the emphasis on choosing yourself, choose you unapologetically. Do not stay with people who shrink you, make you doubt yourself and feel you’re not enough. And the romance!!!!😩oh my goodness, my goodness, my goodness, I love love and I love when love is written so beautifully, you see this book? It’s love written so beautifully.
