Hopeless romantic, fantasy dreamer, and debut author of morally complex angels & the humans who love them.
Hello, I’m Becca! I’ve been a book lover for as long as I can remember. I have always chased stories full of magic, romance, and adventure. I write YA paranormal romance with a healthy dose of forbidden love, fallen angels, and characters who wrestle with impossible choices (because perfect heroes are just a little too easy, don’t you think?). I plan to branch out in the future to adult romantasy as well.

My debut novel, Guardian, is my love letter to the books and stories that have swept me away. Stories full of danger, destiny, and a romance that dares to break the rules. Book two in the series, Veilbreaker comes out this May 1st!

When I’m not writing or reading, you’ll usually find me with coffee in hand, dreaming up new worlds, or plotting ways to make life just a little more complicated for my characters.

Let’s connect—I’d love to hear about the books and stories you’re passionate about!

Thanks to IRIS Influencer Society for providing the eARC. This is my honest opinion.

Whispers in the Shadows

´Guardian´ by Becca Sullivan is a story that gradually draws the reader in through atmosphere rather than spectacle. The setting feels carefully shaped, creating a sense of tension that lingers beneath the surface. Themes of protection, loyalty, and inner conflict run quietly through the narrative and give the story emotional grounding.

The main character carries much of the weight of the book. There is a clear internal struggle, one that adds layers to the choices being made and invites reflection rather than instant judgment. This inner conflict adds a personal touch to the story, even when the emotional depth doesn’t always fully unfold.

The pacing, however, is uneven. Some scenes linger longer than necessary, while moments with strong emotional potential pass too quickly. Several side characters feel more like outlines than fully formed figures, which limits their impact on the overall story. Certain developments may feel familiar to readers well-versed in the genre, reducing the element of surprise.

Not a story that leaves a lasting imprint, but one that offers enough atmosphere and emotional nuance to make the journey worthwhile.

ARC Review

**This book pulled me in instantly.** The story follows a heroine who returns to her hometown carrying old wounds, only to realize there’s far more happening around her than she ever imagined. Watching her navigate the supernatural world she never knew existed—while trying to piece herself back together—makes her journey incredibly compelling.

The characters she meets are magnetic and complex, each holding a different place in her heart. The romantic tension is beautifully tangled, and the uncertainty of who will ultimately hold her heart adds a gripping emotional layer to every chapter.

What stands out most is how the author blends the FMC’s personal healing with the unfolding mystery around her. The longing, the confusion, the slow rediscovery of her strength—it all feels raw and deeply human.

If you love stories rooted in self-discovery, emotional growth, and a love dynamic that keeps you guessing, this one is absolutely worth the read.

**I can’t wait for release day so I can gush about it with everyone.**

This was a great book and one I will absolutely recommend to readers
looking for a plot heavy story with zero spice. It gave me strong CW
TV show vibes… and I mean that in the best way, because I love those.
This is a YA novel, and I completely ate it up.

The slow burn love triangle is filled with tension but stays clean,
letting the plot be the main focus. While it’s a standard-length
novel, it’s packed with information and dialogue, making the story
feel full and immersive. By the end, I was left with almost no
unanswered questions though there are some breadcrumbs sprinkled
throughout that is clearly leading up to book two, which I can not
wait for.

I loved the world the author created and especially enjoyed watching
the FMC, Rhi, navigate a supernatural world she’s suddenly thrown
into. Overall, this was a great read, well paced, and kept me hooked
from start to finish.

I received an ARC copy and I am so glad I did!

This is a beautiful YA book about a young woman called Rhiannon who has to move in with her Nan for the summer.

She ends up reconnecting with cousins and friends from her childhood as well as meeting new people.

she also finds herself being able to see her Guardian.

Things happen, feelings evolve.... (I'm not spoiling it!)

This was an easy read that kept me hooked from the start. It took me just 3 days to finish. The characters were well written and the story developed perfectly.

A genuinely beautiful book. One I wish I found when I was a teen. I would have fallen in love.

What can I say about this book? I was so pleasantly surprised at how much I LOVE this book! I am so thankful to have been chosen as an ARC reader for such a phenomenal book. It was unlike anything I thought it to be, and it exceeded all of my expectations! Becca Sullivan did an amazing job at immersing you into her world of angels and devils. Oh and I can’t forget to mention how much I ABSOLUTELY ADORE the characters. Kiran?? Yes. He’s just absolutely perfect. And Justin? Such a sweet little damaged boy! It’s honestly an impossible choice. The romance is written so beautifully and the yearning is everything! I am WAYYYYY TOO EXCITED for another book to come out! I hope I can be an ARC reader for book 2! This is a MUST READ if you love a romance with beautiful character building and plot twists that will have your jaw on the floor. I will be rereading this book just to feel the love all over again! Thank you Becca for this absolute masterpiece!

I received an ARC of this book. This review is voluntary and all opinions are my own.

I really wanted to like this YA fantasy book. The concept was really interesting. It just really dragged for me. I feel as though it could have been slashed by 150 pages. After page 110 I started skimming a bunch of parts. The ending was well done but it just took so long to get there. The main relationship also felt quite rushed and I wish there had been more moments of tenderness between them. The family dynamic was sweet with all the cousins and Nan and even Mia’s grandmother next door.

An exciting story of a girl escaping back to her hometown from her toxic step father who belittled her, this story pulled me in right from the start! You follow our FMC as she goes on a journey to trusting herself and the people around her again, with the twist being the supernatural mixed in with angels and demons and half bloods a plenty!

This book had me hooked with all of the complex characters that each have their own backstory and journey that they’ve been through right along with the FMC. I loved both the love interests for the FMC and cannot decide if I prefer the bad boy who’s only good for her, or the guardian who’s been protecting her for her whole life! I really enjoyed the inner monologue of the FMC and how well the author shows her self doubt and the harm her step father did to her mentally in a way I can completely relate to. The constant fear of people not wanting you around or not being enough was something I think was well done!

There’s a good number of reveals and twists that kept me on the edge of my seat and this sets up well for another book with a bit of a cliffhanger at the end! Overall I really enjoyed it and my rating 4.2/5!

Thanks to the author for the gifted ARC, all opinions given are my own!

Angels, demon, guardians etc

Becca's writing flows magically on the pages. It has all the twist and turns one would want in a YA novel. Don't want to give anything away but the growth of the main characters is outstanding and has you feeling like you are right there with them. Looking forward to book two and getting answers to the hints "breadcrumbs" that were left for us readers. Definitely worth reading and a book trophy

Guardian by Becca Sullivan

Becca Sullivan’s Guardian is a mesmerizing blend of young adult romance, fantasy, and self-discovery — a story that pulls readers into a world where love and destiny collide under the watchful eyes of Heaven. The first installment in a new YA series, Guardian introduces readers to Rhiannon, a seventeen-year-old girl who moves in with her grandmother for what she assumes will be a quiet, uneventful summer. But that illusion quickly unravels when she encounters two mysterious figures — a green-eyed stranger who tempts her heart and a silver-eyed guardian whose purpose is to protect her. Between them lies a truth that will upend everything Rhiannon thought she knew about life, love, and the hidden world around her.

From the very first page, Sullivan captures the reader’s attention with her evocative prose and vivid imagery. The story is steeped in atmosphere — misty evenings, quiet forests, and the electric tension between the known and the unseen. Rhiannon’s voice feels authentic and relatable, her uncertainty mirroring that of any teenager navigating the complexities of love, identity, and belonging. Yet, beneath her relatable struggles lies a larger, more cosmic purpose — one that ties her to forces far beyond the ordinary.

What truly makes Guardian stand out is its emotional core. The romantic tension between Rhiannon and her two enigmatic companions is palpable, but it’s never rushed or superficial. Sullivan takes her time developing the relationships, allowing the chemistry to simmer while exploring deeper questions of trust, fate, and moral choice. The guardian’s internal conflict — torn between divine duty and human emotion — adds a fascinating layer of depth, reminding readers that even beings of light are not immune to the complexities of the heart.

The book also succeeds in balancing romance with mystery and world-building. While much of the novel unfolds through character-driven scenes, hints of a broader mythology are woven seamlessly into the narrative.

Guardian by Becca Sullivan is an intense young adult romance story filled with paranormal beings and a love triangle that will have you hooked! Thank you so much for having my ARC read. 4 stars! The FMC, Rhiannon, is lovable, relatable, and honestly the perfect embodiment of a stubborn 17-year-old girl. Justin and Kiran, the MCs competing for her love, each have my heart for different reasons, and I have no idea who I want to root for!

With this story, there was a lot going on at every given moment. At first, I wasn't really into the story. However, about 25% in, is when it hooked me! The constant plot twists? Never saw them coming! I cannot wait to see what is in store for the future of this series.

This was like a slow burn to ultimately very satisfying read. It starts off normal enough, Rhi, her Nan and a town; the beginning is quite deceptive. Once you add in a potential love interest and a man that keeps appearing, you arent sure if its a love triangle or not.

As the plot thickens, it turns out there are other wordly happenings that are intriguing, well written and positively angelic. I loved the twists, the mounting crescendo to the end and the intrigue along the way. For a YA romantasy, this had everything you would want for that genre.

What an amazing story! The world building is beautifully done. The history of the angels was used perfectly. And the feeling that Rhi is essentially stuck between heaven and hell is conveyed in a way that will completely wreck your heart by the end of the book. Oh and the ending? Absolutely brutal in the best way possible

I've loved reading Fallen and Hush, Hush growing up and those two were few of the books that solidified my love for this genre so I had really high expectations for this one and also, it had been too long since I've read something from the YA category.

This novel's a YA filled with angels, demons, and supernatural beings that just made me fell in love more with this type of paranormal fantasy again. The world building in here was gradually done and the pacing's slightly hit and miss but, it still remained interesting.

The characters were complex beings but you couldn't help but to root for some of them too. Our FMC's emotional turmoil and mental conflict were reflected well in the story and I loooved how some of the people around her showed love, understanding, and support to her at most which in turn led her to slowly trust herself and others again. 🥹 The love interests were at different sides and angles of the field which also brought excitement to the plot.

Even though it felt a bit dragging at few points in the middle, it didn't bother me too much and I still enjoyed the overall storyline. I am definitely intrigued to know what's next!

Huge thank you to the author and to the iris influencer society for the gifted ecopy in exchange for my honest review!

When I saw this book and saw the blurb about it, I was instantly intrigued because it was saying this story is for fans of Fallen and Hush, Hush which are two books/series I loved reading when I was younger.

Our FMC, Rhiannon, comes back to her hometown only to come back home and realize that there is so much more to her world than she knew it to be. For being a YA story, I actually really liked seeing the world that Becca Sullivan created. It kept me interested the entire time I read and I love that we not only followed Rhiannon as she explored this new world, but also seeing her start to heal through this new world really was such a nostalgic feeling. I felt like I was teleported back to when I was younger and reading similar genres of stories like this before. I know my younger self would have absolutely devoured this book and that alone made this book such a fun and easy read for me.

If you like stories about guardians, angels, and demons then this story will be one for you!

I haven’t read YA in awhile but this book is like cookie dough.
Once you start, you can’t stop.
Angels? 😇 Yes please.

Rhiannon, the FMC, has come to live with her grandmother for a “reset” but quickly encounters a green eyed temptation and a silver eyed protector. Around her is a world full of magic and danger she can’t see… yet.

Love triangle indeed 💘
Team Temptation or Team Angel?
I know which one I am 😉
Rhi’s experiences with her family in the book are somewhat distressing but not trigger worthy (least not IMO)
I did find them very relatable to my own.
The unexpected friendship/alliance she forges with her friend’s friend was definitely something I enjoyed, and hope to see more of in the next book.

The ending of the book, or more specifically the last 45min had me twisted up like a pretzel 🥨
You will think you have it figured out…
And then 💥
Think I might actually have a tantrum if certain events don’t come to fruition 🤨

This story had an interesting concept, but the execution fell flat for me. The dialogue was sometimes confusing, making it hard to tell who was speaking. The FMC’s reaction to Kiran’s sudden appearance felt too accepting, and her romance with Justin seemed rushed with little buildup.

The pacing also dragged, and abrupt scene changes mid-chapter made the flow feel choppy. Instead of being pulled in, I found myself skimming just to finish. While the idea had potential, it didn’t keep my interest and I won’t be picking up book two.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Rhiannon is 17 years old when her mother forces her to move in with her grandmother for the summer, she expects a quiet reset – what she doesn't expect is a green-eyed stranger and a silver-eyed guardian, and whispers of this world she can't see...yet.

Rhiannon quickly realizes that the silver-eyed stranger is her guardian, her protector. The green-eyed stranger is her temptation. And both of these strangers might just be hiding the truth.

Guardian is the 1st book in the Seraphic Series a YA romantasy Series that's filled with forbidden feelings, secrets from Heaven, and a fate that could literally tip the balance between the light and dark.

This book is perfect for fans of Fallen and Hush, Hush.

Guardian is the 1st book in the Seraphic Hearts Series by Becca Sullivan. I am going to start by saying that this is a series that is geared more towards a YA audience, so if you don't enjoy reading YA, then this isn't going to be the book or the series for you. I personally do enjoy reading YA, I find it to be a nice change of pace from a lot of the darker more adult books I read, so I found that I really enjoyed this book.

Rhiannon was sent to live with her grandmother and what started out to be for just the summer turned into her staying for her senior year of high school. And I really felt for Rhiannon. This is a young woman whose mother chose to marry an abusive man, allowed him to abuse her for years, and watched him verbally abuse her daughter for years. And then finally said, you know what, this can't go on, Rhiannon, you have to go and live with my mom. Instead of doing the right thing not only for her daughter but for herself. (But, I digress, abusive situations like this tend to set me off as I spent 10 years in an abusive marriage before I finally got myself out.)

Rhiannon arrives at her grandmother's feeling abandoned and as though her mother has chosen her 2nd husband, the very one who has spent the last several years verbally abusing her, over her own daughter. Rhiannon can't understand why her mother has made the decision that she did and when she tries to talk to her grandmother about it, Rhiannon can't understand why her grandmother doesn't want to talk about her mother's choices.

Thankfully, Rhiannon once lived with her grandmother when she was a child before her mother remarried and she had family who lived in the same town as her grandmother as well as friends she had once spent time with as a child.

As Rhiannon spends time with her friends she feels a strange presence around her and she catches glimpses of a boy her age with beautiful silver eyes. Then the day comes when that silver-eyed boy appears in her bedroom and introduces himself to her as Kiran and tells her that he is her guardian and that he has been with her since she was a baby.

Becca Sullivan did such a wonderful job of crafting all the characters from Rhiannon, Kiran, Justin, Nan, Kacy, Scott, Mia, Sam, and all the secondary characters. I just loved them all. They are all so unique and they all have their own personalities and backstories.

I have to say that of all the secondary characters Mia and Sam are two of my favorites. Mia is just too cute. And I love her witchy vibes. And then there is Sam. I always felt that there was something off and different about Sam. And when you find out Sam's full backstory, my oh my, I just loved it.

Then we have the love triangle between Rhiannon, Kiran, and Justin. Becca has crafted the perfect love triangle with the perfect chemistry between Rhiannon and both the boys and you can tell that she has feelings for both Kiran and Justin and she is truly torn between them.

If you enjoy stories about Guardian Angels, Angels, Watchers, Nephilim then this is a book you want to read. Becca Sullivan really did an amazing job in writing this book and filling it out with all of the mythology around Nephilim, Watchers, Angels, and even Guardian Angels.

I can't wait to read the next book in this series, Becca has really kicked off a great start to a new and exciting series and I can't wait to see where she takes it.

*Guardian *
by Becca Sullivan
5 outof 5 🌟

There are books that entertain, and then there are books that awaken something ancient within the reader. *Guardian* by Becca Sullivan belongs to the latter category—a story that feels less like a fantasy and more like a rediscovery of a truth you once knew but forgot with time. Beneath the YA romantasy surface lies a deeply spiritual meditation on what it means to be seen, chosen, and tested by forces both divine and human.

At its heart is Rhiannon, a seventeen-year-old who believes she’s simply spending a quiet summer with her grandmother. Yet the house, the woods, even the wind around her seem to remember her before she remembers herself. Sullivan doesn’t introduce magic with grand spectacle—it seeps into the pages like memory, like déjà vu. When the two mysterious figures appear—one with eyes like moss and rain, the other with silver irises that seem to reflect her soul—they do not disrupt her world; they reveal it.

What makes *Guardian* unlike other angelic romances is its refusal to make light and dark into opposites. Sullivan writes them as intertwined forces, necessary to each other, much like love and sacrifice. Every romantic tension in the book carries a theological echo: to love someone forbidden is to glimpse the flaw in perfection, to understand why even angels fall. The emotional gravity of this realization gives *Guardian* a pulse of melancholy beauty, a rare vulnerability that feels almost sacred.

Sullivan’s prose is lush yet controlled, her dialogue intimate without losing mystery. There’s poetry even in the silence—moments when the world itself seems to hold its breath around Rhiannon’s choices. The setting, with its humid summer air and old shadows, becomes a living metaphor for transformation—the decay of innocence before the birth of awareness.

By the final chapters, *Guardian* transcends its genre. It becomes a story about surrender: not to destiny, but to truth—the kind that strips you bare before it saves you. Sullivan doesn’t just write about angels and humans; she writes about the haunting space between them, where faith becomes feeling and love becomes rebellion.

Guardian is a YA romantasy novel — an atmospheric blend of romance, fantasy, and spiritual awakening — written by Becca Sullivan, published in October 2025.
Becca Sullivan’s Guardian isn’t just another YA fantasy — it’s the kind of story that pulls you in quietly and lingers long after the last page. Rhiannon, a seventeen-year-old spending the summer with her grandmother, expects calm but finds fate waiting in the form of two strangers — one with green eyes that tempt her, and one with silver eyes that promise protection. Soon, her world begins to unravel in the most breathtaking way.

The book hums with a soft kind of magic — not loud or dramatic, but the kind that stays with you. Sullivan doesn’t rush into lore or chaos; she lets the supernatural seep in gently, like dawn breaking. Her portrayal of light and dark feels profound — not as opposites, but as two sides of the same truth.

What makes Guardian special is how divine themes are made deeply human. Love here is dangerous, questioning, and achingly beautiful. Rhiannon’s bond with her protector and her temptation captures that bittersweet ache of first love mixed with destiny — love that feels both fated and forbidden.

Sullivan’s prose is cinematic yet intimate, filled with summer-night stillness and quiet wonder. Beneath the romance lies a spiritual pulse — a story about choosing between two worlds, two versions of oneself. It’s a mirror for anyone who’s ever stood at the edge of becoming.

Rating: 5/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Ethereal, emotional, and addictively romantic.

Final Verdict: Lyrical, luminous, and emotionally charged — Guardian is a breathtaking start to a romantasy series where love feels both divine and dangerous.

3.5⭐️ - The concept for this YA paranormal romance was super intriguing, and I really wanted to love it. And I did enjoy it for the most part!

Our FMC Rhiannon has been through a lot, and she gets sent to live with her grandmother. This felt like the right move for her as she also got to be back with her cousins who all seem to adore her. Talk about a confidence boost to be surrounded by that many people who love you and want the best for you!

There was a bit of a love triangle between Rhiannon, a new boy she meets on her first day back, and her guardian who decides to show himself to her. The book is told all from Rhiannon’s POV, so you can really feel her inner turmoil and struggles as she deals with her feelings for both.

The main action really comes into play at the very end of the book, and there were plenty of secrets revealed then as well. The ending of this book feels like it will continue on track with themes of good vs. evil, protection, loyalty, fated bonds, and much more in the next book of the Seraphic Hearts series.

Thank you so much to Becca Sullivan and Iris Influencer Society for the gifted copy of this one! 🖤🪽✨

Hola Bestieeees!
This book is a chaotic little gem that absolutely delivered.! It had me pacing around my house like “¿Qué está pasando ahora?” (what is happening rn) because WOW, the chaos is premium.

We follow Rhiannon, this quiet, artistic, soft‑hearted girl who has survived way too much. She’s living with her mom and that loco, abusive stepfather who needs to be escorted OUT immediately. When she finally gets sent away to live with a relative, you think things might calm down… HA. Girl, that’s when the universe said, “Let’s turn this up.”

Family secrets-INSANE.
The plot twists- I swear I got whiplash.
The paranormal beings- Every chapter felt like a new creature RSVP’d to the party.
And the love triangle I did NOT see coming- I had to sit down. Like… WOOOW? Ok?!
And did I mention secrets? Because BABES. SECRETS!! A whole Costco pallet of secrets.

The spice is light — 1 pepper — but the emotional drama, danger, and supernatural madness more than make up for it. Rhiannon’s growth is beautiful, the world is wild, and the story keeps you flipping pages like you’re running from something.

This book awakened my younger memories of romance. I even started to dream about it. I guess I related to the story because I spent my teenage school years in Colorado. In the summer I would visit my cousin's back east. I always felt out of place because I didn't quite fit in. The innocent ROMANCE made my heart pitter patter. All over again, I remembered a tough city boy with dark hair I met one summer when I was 15. The embarrassment of meeting a boy who lit my fire, trying to balance my awkward feelings and excitement of not knowing. I forgot about how new romance was. Becca's character, Rhiannon (one of my favorite songs and names) I could relate to. I can imagine and fully picture the green, thick dark woods and the happenings, the feelings.
"Guardian" clearly depicts confused feelings young women from separated families have to deal with. The feelings of hurt and betrayal. Becca spices story up with a mysterious, supernatural situation that is happening behind the scenes. This book is keeping me wanting more to see what happens next. I recommend this book!

Got this book as an ARC! I loved it a lot!
Here’s my review:

If you loved YA series like Hush,Hush and The Fallen you’ll love this!

Rhiannon moves in with her grandmother to get away from her step-dad and starts to see a strange man who appears to her, and she begins hearing whispers in her mind. She is also falling for a boy Justin who her cousin has told her is trouble, and to stay away from him.
The man she sees finally talks to her, and she finds out he’s her guardian angel 🪽Kiran; he’s been with her since she was a baby.
This book was full of mystery, intrigue, and a hidden world. If you like a story with heart, depth, love triangles and just a feel good story, you’ll want to read this book!

I got an advanced readers copy and struggled to finish this. The beginning of the story was intriguing but as the story went on the dialogue between characters didn’t feel genuine to me and the romance plot was just too juvenile for me, sometimes felt like I was reading a diary rather than a romantasy. I did not care for the whole angel storyline either, it just seemed like the main character took too easily to the idea of a guardian angel but then was also so slow to accept that her love interest was someone to stay away from. Honestly I was just not interested in the story as much as I hoped I would be. I thank the author for sending me a copy

Hello, people!
First of all, let me mention that this book is the first book in the YA series Seraphic Hearts.
It is a novel that has several pieces of psychology in it such as emotional development and self-awareness.
The story is quite well structured, its world building is very beautiful and the characters are well-made and everyone has their own reason for being in the plot. Her writing is magical, it captivates you, it is full of tension and creates images in your mind.
I can't wait to read the sequel!

Thank you very much to the author and Iris PR for the eARC!

Oh how I love this cover! I do love all type of wings and I was instantly drawn to this book by the cover alone.

This was a great YA read, which was well written, with angels, demons and a paranormal edge, and turned out to be a refreshing read for me.

I loved the love triangle and honestly didn't know what way this was going to go, this kept me turning the pages. Whilst I found the over pace of the book quite slow, it definitely picked up towards the end and I did not see those twists coming!! The book ended on a cliffhanger and I would love to see what happens next.

I received an ARC of this book and while it was good, I don’t think it was entirely my cup of tea.

I enjoyed the concept and liked the characters, but it was a little long for my liking. I feel like things could have been a little more condensed and it would have helped with the pacing.

I think that if you enjoy angel romance/YA fantasy novels there’s a good chance you will enjoy this book, and I will be recommending it to a few people.

I enjoy YA so if you don't like YA this is probably not the book for you. I enjoyed the characters and the push and pull of the love triangle between the main characters. There is great chemistry between Rhiannon and both boys that she has feelings for. The side characters Sam and Mia are adorable. Highly recommend this book! I received an ARC.
