Sometimes the safest place to be is in the arms of the most dangerous man you know.
Nineteen-year-old Sarah Williams was never supposed to fall for her brother’s best friend—and she was never supposed to be hunted, either.
But when her world collapses and the men chasing them show no mercy, Sarah finds herself running across a lawless, shattered Colorado with her brother Michael and the one man she should have stayed away from.
James Hill is an Outsider. A man with too many scars, too many secrets, and a past that could get them all killed. He’s the kind of man you should fear… and the one who’ll risk everything to keep her safe.
But James’s secrets burn deeper than scars. And in this world, loving him might be the most dangerous choice of all.

Tatiana Machado started writing short stories at the age of eighteen and never imagined they would one day grow into something bigger. After graduating from law school, she decided to bring her characters to life in her debut novel, All Because of Me. Tatiana writes romance laced with darkness, humor, and the will to survive. She finds inspiration in quiet places and late-night thoughts with just the right amount of chaos. When she’s not writing, she’s probably watching horror movies, rewatching Gilmore Girls for the twentieth time, planning her next trip, or searching for chocolate. She’s currently working on more books set in The All Because universe.
That line broke me. This book broke me. But I’d read it again in a heartbeat. I need book two. I need to know what happens next. I need them to be okay. And I need it now. Please.
I didn’t know a book could hurt this beautifully. Those last chapters, I had to put the book down just to breathe. The way everything comes full circle broke me in the best way.
Touch her and die. That’s the book. That’s the whole vibe. And I loved it!! James Hill is dark, brooding, loyal, and somehow the safest place in the world. I need an Outsider now.
“There. Are. No. More. Rules.” Yep. That’s all I needed to know. This book grabbed me. I was hooked. I read it in one sitting, ignored all my responsibilities, and now I need a James of my own.
This book was AMAZING!!! It has been months since I read a book that left me speechless and ready for the next one. I can’t explain it but this book was just ugh a masterpiece. I NEED THE NEXT BOOK ASAP!! The ending 😫 I can’t. I need the next book now please. It was so good I’m leaving a review. I never doo but I just can’t seem to move on. James you were perfect! Sarah! You’re so badass and loved you. Micheal 🤧🤧 you only got one chapter, but I can’t wait to read your book. This book will not disappoint!! I promise. Please release the next one I’m ready!! I can’t wait.
OK BUT WHAT DID BRIAN DO??? I’m not the only one who’s been haunted by this, right? Sarah doesn’t talk about it, but something happened back at that ranch with Brian and I need to know. I don’t trust that man. Not even a little. Give me answers in book two please and thank you for the book.
I came for the dystopia. I stayed for the chaos and the spicy. Not me thinking this was gonna be some dark, brooding Hunger Games knockoff… and then James ties her up with his belt and I’m like “HELLO???” Also: “Your bed?” / “Our bed!” = 🫠 Please tell me there’s a scene on a train or something in book two because at this point they’ve done it literally everywhere.
Wow!! This book reminds me of maze, the hunger games and the divergent. Loved how every chapter had so much detail, it was like it was playing a movie in my head. I thought it was standalone first but the last page told me there has to be another book coming and i’m so excited for it. i hope everyone gets their happy ending! i cried, i laughed, i smiled!
I didn’t think I’d love a dystopian romance, but I was wrong. This isn’t some over-the-top, robots-fighting-over-love kind of dystopia. It’s grounded. Gritty. It feels real. Like this could actually happen. And that made the romance hit harder. The danger felt real. The love felt earned. I’m obsessed. Can't wait for book two.
Michael got ONE chapter and I’m already in love with him. I didn’t think anyone could steal the spotlight from James, but here comes Michael with his quiet strength and dry humor. His chapter added so much depth. His love for his sister?? His guilt?? I’m not okay. Please tell me Olivia’s book is coming soon, I’m already crying for them.
I couldn't put the book down. I need the second book right now. the ending killed me I need to know what happened. I couldn't imagine the world ending and have to survive.
Every detail matters. This book doesn’t waste a single word. The way the memory of Sarah taking about elevators with her dad and James later watches her telling Michael? Or like Sarah mentioning the smell of strawberry cake at breakfast and Michael bringing it up later. It’s all connected. It’s all so intentional. And that made it stick. Beautiful writing.
“He was warm and safe and mine.” If you’re here for the love story, you’ll get it. Sarah and James are one of those couples that shouldn’t work. He’s her brother’s best friend. She’s too soft for this world. But watching them fall for each other, even in the middle of all that danger? Beautiful. I believed in them. Every second.
The spicy scenes?? 🔥 but what made them unforgettable was that they meant something. The lake scene, the roof, even the tent scene, every moment felt earned. These weren’t just random sex scenes, they were filled with trust and emotion. So well written.
This book was the ultimate dystopian touch her and you will die type of book. The way that they loved each other in spite of all the chaos around them was so beautiful. My heart ached for them but their love strengthens each other and made them stronger. It made them stronger individually and together they were and are an unstoppable force no matter how many times the enemy tried to knock them down.
The world is falling apart, and James, Sarah, and Michael are just trying to survive it.
I fell hard and fast for James and I will take absolutely zero criticism on him. He’s the ultimate protector, and there isn’t anything he won’t do to keep Sarah safe. And Sarah? She gives James hope when there shouldn’t be any. She’s truly the bright light in this story.
Then there’s Michael, the perfect big brother. Together, this little crew of three becomes such a solid found family while navigating a treacherous world where nowhere is safe. They’re constantly on the move, which means a ton of intense moments and a few not-so-nice encounters along the way. And when they pick up a few friends, it gave me even more of that found family goodness I love.
But then you hit the last 20% and BOY does the intensity level up. I was stressed. My heart was racing. I was not okay.
And can we talk about the fact that this is Tatiana’s debut? Because I’m honestly blown away. The way she built the tension, the stakes, and that emotional pull had me fully locked in.
And the cliffhanger… um, I’m sorry, WHAT?! The way I need book 2 NOW!
Best book ever 2026! I went into this book, not knowing what it was about for a second there I thought it was a YA book, but it’s as smutty as I wanted it to be! I can’t recommend this book enough!
So grateful I came across this amazing author. You're looking for a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat? A story that makes your heart beat faster? This dystopian romance book is for you. I couldn’t put it down, it was so good. And then you reach the last two chapters, when the title finally makes sense. And that very last page. That very last sentence. That cliffhanger. I can’t wait for book 2, All Because of Her. I loved the timeline and the dual POV. It’s the best dystopian I’ve read in December, and I won’t stop recommending it to everyone. I wish I could read it for the first time over and over again.
"James dressing me like a gentleman after undressing me like a maniac"
If you want a book that’ll grip you from the beginning and not even let go after you’re done reading it, then look no further!! I could not put this book down! I had to literally MAKE myself go to bed (because adulting sucks on no sleep) I was alittle scared when I saw it was a bigger book, but I’m telling you it’s so well written that you don’t even realize how long it is. It just keeps sucking you in. Also, I honestly fell in love with all of these characters even the side characters that come and go. This book hurts, but in such a beautiful way!
not my typical read but i actually enjoyed it. verrrrrry dystopian and dark at times. my only real complaints are repetitiveness in dialogue, character descriptions, personality traits, etc. spice was good but i actually feel like that was too frequent/repetitive at times too. definitely made sense when i saw it was her debut novel, but overall a good 4 star read for me!
