In this romantic comedy with a spellbinding spark, a young witch is torn between a lie that might save her home and admitting the truth to the infuriatingly handsome man who cares more about profit than preservation.

Secret witch Coco Higginbotham has the perfect magical land preservation in Mystic Meadows, Georgia. Here magic threads through the land and unicorn critters roam free, though human magic is strictly forbidden. But when billionaire developer Stone Maddox threatens the town’s magical flow with his resort construction, what’s a closeted witch to do but cast a spell to make him see reason?

Unfortunately, Coco accidentally wipes out his memory too. Thanks to his uncanny connection with her (and some convenient lies of omission), he soon concludes they’re a couple. And this new Stone? He’s kind, caring, and nothing like the man who threatened everything she loves.

As Coco scrambles to reverse her spell and restore Stone’s memory, she faces an impossible choice. Tell the truth and lose the man she’s falling for—or keep lying and risk exposing the magical secret that could destroy her life.

And what is more dangerous—being discovered as a witch, or discovering she can’t let him go?

Thank you to the publisher Montlake for providing this book for review purposes via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

This book has unicorns, piggycorns, lambicorns (awww), ley lines and enemies to lovers with a touch of magical amnesia. Coco Higginbotham (what a name!) is our closeted witch in a town that views magical animals as good and magical people bad, Coco is the furthest thing from evil and she was so sweet even if she feels unseen and overlooked by her family. Her sister Brittany was a real jerk to Coco. Stone is a hard and miserable ass who leaches the joy and magic out of the everything, he needed the complete reset he got from his magical amnesia. Did I think he deserved Coco? Nope no way on this earth, but maybe he can redeem himself but that being said I did enjoy their story. I enjoyed this book and the magical town that Coco lived in, Hercules the lambicorn was so cute and I want one! This was a very cute and sweet fluffy romance with plenty of sparkles.

Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for this advanced copy of Stupid Spellbound Love.

Overall: 3 Stars

I will start by saying, I read the ARC for the first book in this series and had a fun time but critiques so I came in knowing I would probably enjoy the story but have some thoughts.

And honestly, I have some strong thoughts.

While I understand the need for the amnesia, I am very uncomfortable with the fact there was a spicy scene with a character lacking memories. I know they had built a relationship by that point, it still comes off concerning because she was purposefully withholding information to give them a “night to remember”. This borders on dubious consent in my opinion, which I don’t think fits in a romcom.

Besides that, I really liked the growth of Stone’s character, and I think the book could be greatly improved by not including that scene.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this eARC in exchange of an honest review.

This was such a delightful surprise, exactly the kind of witchy romance I adore. It’s original, whimsical, and just a little bit eerie in the best possible way. The plot feels fresh, the atmosphere has that magical, fairy-touched charm, and the whole story stands out from the usual romance tropes. The magic system is surprisingly original and adds a fun layer to the whole experience. And the little fae creatures? Absolutely adorable. I loved every single one of them, they added so much personality and whimsy to the story. The dynamic between the two main characters is genuinely lovely; watching their relationship grow and shift was one of the highlights for me. They’re sweet, funny, and their evolution together feels both natural and heartwarming. It’s charming, it’s witchy, it’s unique and honestly it ticks all my boxes for my kind of HEA romance.

A cozy small-town fantasy where one desperate spell goes wrong, a grumpy man loses his memory, and suddenly the witch who cursed him is the only person he trusts.

2,5⭐️/5 — 1🌶️/5 (1 chater/51)

❤️‍🔥 Hate to love
🧙🏻 She's a witch
✨ He's under a spell
💚 He falls first
💔 Secret and betrayal

I wasn’t a huge fan of the first part of the book. Pre-amnesia Stone isn’t just grumpy and straight-up mean. Not the playful banter kind, not tension-building enemies-to-lovers, just unnecessarily rude… and it didn’t work for me emotionally.

The second half? Better, even genuinely funny.
Once Stone loses his memory, the humour lands much better.
His cluelessness, the magical mishaps, the lamb peeing on Coco shoes when she lies, that was fun.
Dot, the swearing elderly lady, was hilarious too.

But here’s the issue: the book piles on a lot.
If you summarise it, you get:
-Coco enforcing magical regulations for construction
-Stone fighting her to protect his business investment
-a spell gone wrong → memory loss
-Coco’s family dysfunction
-Stone’s toxic family dynamics + losing a corporate competition?
-sibling tension
-side characters galore (Cristina, Rhett, Natalie, Pane & Rowe, the book club, the workers…)
It felt scattered, like several novels stitched together rather than one cohesive arc.

Coco’s procrastination nearly broke me
“Tomorrow I’ll tell him the truth… just let tonight be perfect.”
Once? Fine. Twice? Hmm. By the third time? Exhausting.
By 70% of the book, I was just waiting for the inevitable reveal.
And those moments when she tries to confess and Stone interrupts because he assumes he knows what she’s about to say? It dragged pacing rather than building tension, I kept feeling like the story wasn’t moving.

The ending… didn’t work for me
-The sheep randomly eating the potion and becoming the fix???
-The big reveal during the surprise wedding felt messy, not dramatic.
-Stone promising to protect Coco no matter what, only to let everyone turn on her and call her a witch? Yikes.
« Coco, look at me. You are special, more special than you know, and I will be damned before I let anyone hurt you. Not just because you’ve helped me so much, but because… I just won’t. »

« I never, ever want to hurt Coco.
I love her with everything that's inside me. »

-And then the potion just magically curing him, only for him to want to revert to “mean Stone” again?
It was rushed, chaotic and didn’t land emotionally.

One more thing, it often felt like a sequel
There are plot beats — especially around Stone’s rivalry with his brother for control of the company, that felt underexplained, like I should already know them.
I regularly had the sensation of having missed a previous book.
« Month ago, Rowe’s farm was in foreclosure. But Pane turned it into a day spa as his entry in the competition to win the Maddox Group. Now it’s a thriving establishment. »

Stupid Spellbound Love has cute rom-com DNA and genuinely funny moments, but:
-pacing issues
-too many side plots
-a messy resolution
…kept it from delivering the romance arc I hoped for. BUT, I’ll give Stone this, even if his characterization was inconsistent for me, he still had a few lines that genuinely made me swoon. The rare moments where he softened, slipped into sincerity, or showed protectiveness were actually really charming.

« —You’re so beautiful.
—Stop it.
—I will not stop it, because it’s true. You are. So beautiful. »

« Are you blushing?
I’m not blushing.
Yes, you are. You are absolutely red. It’s adorable. Keep doing it. »

« I don't remember the man I was, but I want to be the man you need. »

A quirky magical premise with potential, but the execution felt unfocused and the ending unsatisfying.

This was cute and fun on the surface, but overall it just didn’t fully work for me. The concept had a lot of potential because it featured a secret witch, a magical town, and a billionaire developer threatening everything, but the pacing felt really off. Things moved either too quickly or not enough where it actually mattered, and I never felt like the characters were developed deeply enough for the emotions to land.

And Stone… yeah, no. I really did not like him. He was a complete asshole for most of the book, and while he was slightly more tolerable after the amnesia, it wasn’t nearly enough to redeem him in my eyes. I never bought that he deserved Coco or her forgiveness, especially given how flimsy the turnaround felt.

The plot itself was also a bit thin, relying heavily on misunderstandings and convenient choices rather than solid storytelling. And unfortunately, the ending didn’t work for me either. It felt rushed and unsatisfying, especially after everything that led up to it.

Overall, this was a light, whimsical read with a fun premise, but the execution fell short. If you’re looking for something magical and low stakes, you might still enjoy it, but for me, the lack of character growth, weak pacing, and an unredeemed love interest held it back.

Thank you to NetGalley, Amy Boyles, and Montlake for the eARC of this book.

This book was so much fun! A great book for those looking into reading magical realism for the first time.

In this novel we follow Coco and Stone. Coco works as a magical commercial developer checker (something like that) and she needs to approve Stone’s progress he’s made on his resort. Unfortunately, he build on a ley line which connects the town with the natures magic. Grumpy Stone doesn’t accept this and gets sneaky and turns to blackmail to get his way. After Coco performs some magic, Stone forgets his memory…and forgets he is a jerk. As they bond while Coco looks for a cure, what will happen to the land and their crazy connection?

I really liked Coco. She tended to put others before herself, especially when it came to her crazy family. Her sister got on my nerves and I wish she would have drop kicked her a few times, but oh well.

Stone was truly a jerk before he lost his memory. I mean, damn dude. He was cruel to the poor girl and the lambicorn. I was happy he got amnesia.

I will say there were some cheesy moments that had me rolling my eyes. I did like the ending and how it wasn’t what we were expecting.

I really enjoyed this novel. It had me laughing and wanting to keep reading. The perfect palette cleanser or easy read when you don’t want something too heavy.

Stupid Spellbound Love | Amy Boyles

Welcome to Mystic Meadows. A town where magic has reawakened, unicorns and piggicorns roam free, and yes—there are even lambicorns (I mean… come on).

Stupid Spellbound Love is a cozy, magical romance featuring Coco, the newly appointed Magical Zoning Coordinator, and Stone, the grumpy, distrustful construction manager whose shiny new resort is literally draining the town’s freshly revived ley lines. He refuses to listen to logic (or magic), so Coco does what any desperate magical girl might do, casts a potion to make him see the magic like she does.
Except it backfires. And he ends up with amnesia.

Here’s the thing: I wanted to love this. The setting? Adorable. The magic? Fun. The vibes? Cozy and whimsical. But there was one big issue I just couldn’t get past, Coco and Stone starting a relationship while she’s actively lying about how he lost his memory. That’s a hard no from me. Stone says he’s happy and likes who he is now, but how can he truly know that when he doesn’t remember who he was before?

Since this dilemma makes up basically the entire plot, I just couldn’t fully get on board. Ultimately, this one didn’t hit for me, but Mystic Meadows itself is precious, the magical creatures are delightful, and I can absolutely see this being a win for readers who love cute, cozy, magical romances with low-stakes vibes.

Thank you to Amy Boyles, Montlake, and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Amy Boyles has done it again. Book 2 in the Stupid Love series was just as great as the first.

Coco Higginbotham Is the new magical land coordinator and it is the perfect job for her because she can see the magical ley lines that run through the town. Her first job is to check out the new resort that is being built in town where she meets Stone Maddox and he is weakening the magic with his building. He is a broody angry man and he refuses to fix the issue. The two clash, a spell goes awry, and magic and mayhem ensue. Buckle up, this book is a wild ride.

This was an amazing story about truly being seen, fighting your inner demons, and embracing the magic that is all around you. This book was so good I could not put it down. The book flowed well, was easy to read, and the plot was interesting. You were immersed in the world immediately and the descriptions were on point. I loved the characters so much, especially Dot and Christine, I also hope Coco’s best friend gets a story, I love her so much. This book was so good, I highly recommend it!

Stupid Spellbound Love
By Amy Boyles

Stupid Spellbound Love is a cute, lighthearted romance with a magical twist. Coco is doing her best to keep her magic hidden in Mystic Meadows, a town where ley lines of magic run freely. Magic is perfectly acceptable for the town itself and its creatures—but not for humans. As Coco starts a new job with Magical Zoning and Development, she stumbles upon a major problem: Stone’s new resort is being built with materials that dampen the ley lines.

When Coco confronts Stone, he refuses to fix the issue and instead blackmails her, leaving her trapped with no good options. In desperation, she turns to a spell book and accidentally gives Stone amnesia. Without his memories, Stone is no longer the cold, arrogant developer she first met. Instead, he’s kind, protective, and surprisingly charming—and Coco quickly finds herself falling for him. But love built on a lie can’t last forever.

Overall, Stupid Spellbound Love was a fun and enjoyable read. I give it 3.75 stars out of 5.

I received a ARC for review from NetGalley and Montlake and am posting an honest review.

The book introduced some charming magical creatures and started with alot of potential. I am sorry to say that I had a hard time finishing the book - reading a bit and then putting it down. Overall it did not draw me in where I couldn't put it down. There were too many side plots that distracted from the main storyline - I have not read the first book in the series which might have helped to fill out the background of the hero and why he was so unpleasant at the start of the book.

Pre-spelled Stone is mean, unkind and rude. Once Stone loses his memory, the book improves significantly.. The romantic tension was good but the heroine's stalling on telling the truth got irritating after a while. The ending was kind of random and didn't make a whole lot of sense to me, unless it is a set up for a future sequel.

Overall the book is a lighthearted magical romantic comedy with many genuinely funny moments.

*****Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC of Stupid Spellbound Love by Amy Boyles in exchange for an honest review.

Stupid Spellbound Love was simply fun. I laughed a lot while reading it, and the whole book carried the kind of energy that reminded me of those 90s rom coms. Light, a little absurd, full of clichés in the best possible way. Not the kind that makes you cringe, but the kind that keeps you watching until the very end and leaves you with a soft, happy sigh because everything wrapped up exactly how you hoped.

That is the feeling this book gave me. It leans into its tropes, plays with the ridiculous moments, and somehow turns them into charm. The magical touch adds another layer to that nostalgic atmosphere.

If you want something that feels like a 90s rom com with a sprinkle of magic and plenty of laughs, Stupid Spellbound Love fits perfectly.

Stupid Spellbound Love by Amy Boyles was such a cute read. Honestly, it gave me the same cozy, soft vibes as the lambicorn in the story. Being back in Mystic Falls felt like so much fun.

This book is really about forgiving the harder parts of yourself and letting yourself be happy and giving grace to others. Coco can see ley lines and is deeply tied to the town’s magic. Stone is busy building a resort that’s slowly cutting off the towns magic. Enter a found spellbook, and suddenly Stone isn’t quite the same person anymore. That’s right, he may have eaten a spelled pastry.

The nice version of Stone was actually super sweet. He’s handsome and things get interesting fast. Along the way you’re wondering how long the spell will last and whether he’ll like her once the spell breaks. You will definitely find out before the end. I look forward to see what happens next in Mystic Falls.

I would like to give this book a 3.5 stars!

I absolutely adore that little town and enjoyed the first book as well! Though I must say, I preferred the 1st over the 2nd but this was still an adorable read!
Coco is a very loveable character who has a lot of empathy and wants to be seen for who she is. She fights for the beings around her with every bit she can give and that is very admirable.

Stone is the opposite at first. Typical grumpy billionaire who's focused on his job but also has gotten hurt himself in the past. But with some changes here and there, he himself turns into a loving character and an amazing partner.

I love how magic is portrayed here. It feels simple but in a good way. There's even another animal now that gets a horn and it is just as adorable. I LOVE an animal sidekick. It just makes the book a little bit more fun.

All in all, really cute romance book that I can recommend!

ARC Review

My rating: 3 stars

Stupid Spellbound Love is a silly, whimsical romance and the second in the Stupid Love series. The plot is cute and fun to read. Both the FMC and the MMC (post-spell) are sweethearts who are just trying to do the right thing. That being said, I felt like the writing was lacking in some places and needed a bit more editing (I'm writing this review four months before the publishing date so these issues might very well be fixed by release day!).

My absolute favorite part of the book was the FMC's relationship with her sister. No spoilers :) but I love how the author explored their relationship and how much it reminded me of my own family.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for magical realism, a little silliness, and one spankin' cute lambicorn!

The town of Mystic Meadows is special, it began with unicorns returning. however, while the town appreciates the magical creatures, magical humans aren't welcome. For Cora who is a closeted witch this is a problem; especially after she realizes that construction materials are killing the magic but can't say how she knows this without revealing her secret. This enemies to lovers rom com has tons of magic and good times. I really enjoyed this book and it was a easy story to get into. Stone was kind of a jerk but thanks to some magical amnesia he may prove redeemable. I also loves how sweet Cora was and all the magical creatures.

Thanks Netgalley for the ARC!

This book is fun and light. I’d say it falls into a similar vein as April Asher and Hazel Beck books. There is some spice, and it’s very much got the While You Were Sleeping plotline, but with magic. Since that’s one of my favorite movies, I enjoyed it, and it was great as an easy read.

The piggycorn's are back and now we have lambicorns too and it's the cutest! I loved this story. Stone is a total grump who gets caught in his own mental BS and it really comes close to "how will he be redeemable?" And then Coco does some pretty crazy things and together they pretty much cracked MY heart wide open. I mean this was an incredible ride through their growth and emotions and the whirlwind of shenanigans.

I had so many Awwe moments and Oh boy, oh gee, and o.m.g. And definitely ohhhh $#%&. But at the end of it all I am a huge fan of Stone and Coco. They're so perfect for each other and through it all I was rooting for them.

I also thought the writing itself was easier to follow than the first one and the pacing was perfect. Such a good time with lots of banter. The plot was unique and the best. I would recommend to everyone who loves a giddy romance with a cute witchy story. And so many turns you just do not see coming. Loved it!!
