This is the second story I’ve read in this time travel series and I’ve really enjoyed them. Cora is out hiking and falls down a slope. Mountain man Boone finds her and takes her to his cabin. Boone thinks she talks strangely and dresses oddly but he still helps her. Cora realizes that the place she is at is a when in time not a where she’s at. This was an exciting read for me, fast and steamy with both characters trying to accept a past they can’t change. I loved it.

She tripped and fell down a small cliff right into the year 1859.

Cora has worked as a midwife for years and knew that not all births are easy. Sometimes, despite everyone's best effort, there will be a stillbirth. Even knowing that, she's still wracked with guilt. She has to accept that somehow she failed and a woman's child won't be going home with her.

Afterwards, she was too distracted at work, so Iris, head of the ward, told her to take some time off of work. She headed to Colorado, her birth state. She's going camping in the wilderness as far away from hospitals as she can get.

As she's walking the trail through the trees, she suddenly hears a baby crying. She's heard too many babies crying to mistake this for some animal. She leaves the trail to go search.

She wasn’t paying enough attention to where she was walking, and she lost her footing when the ground under her feet gave way. She hadn't realized she was at the edge of a small cliff hidden by brush. She tried to grab branches but couldn't hold on. She tumbled down and had knocked herself out by the time her fall ended.

Boone found her when he had gone out to pick the last of the wild berries. Normally he would have never gone that far from his cabin, but he was glad he had when he found her. The November weather is turning colder, and her body temperature is already low. She also has a leg wound.

He has no idea who she is or why she's there. He's not wanted much to do with people since his wife, Anna, died. Everyone was so concerned about him at her funeral, promising to keep in touch with him and help ease the sorrow of his loss. Their promises were all just lip service. He was tempted to leave her there, but he heard Anna telling him to care for her, so he did.

Cora awakens to a whole new world! Everything in Boone's cabin looks like items she's seen displayed from the 1800s. She can't believe that she fell down a small cliff and ended up in 1859, but she did!

Can she get back to her old life? Does she really want to go back? She knows Boone could never fit into her modern world, but she thinks she could fit into his world. And that's before she hears how, like her, the neighbor's wife popped up out of nowhere...

A love that crosses time itself, born from grief and forged in fire

Cora is a midwife running from guilt she can’t shake. A hike into the Colorado wilderness is supposed to quiet her mind, but a fall leaves her waking in the arms of Boone, a man who lives rough and alone in 1859. His gruff exterior hides a soul scarred by loss, and hers is weighed down by sorrow she can’t escape. Together they’re two broken people facing a world that’s harsh, untamed, and unrelenting.

At first, mistrust defines them. Boone wants nothing to do with anyone, least of all a stranger who stirs memories of what he’s lost. Cora is torn between fear, disbelief, and an undeniable pull toward the man who saved her. The tension between them simmers until it ignites into something neither can deny. ‍

As secrets come to light and choices test their fragile trust, Cora and Boone are pushed to the edge of what they believe possible. Healing won’t come easy, but together they learn that love can grow even in the most unforgiving wilderness.

A steamy, time travel, grumpy mountain man, grumpy sunshine, western frontier, hurt comfort, found family, historical romance that explores trauma, healing, identity, connection, second chances, and belonging. It’s about facing grief, finding healing through love and trust, rediscovering identity in unexpected places, and choosing to build a life together in the unlikeliest of times. At its core, it’s the story of two broken souls whose bond transforms pain into passion, fear into courage, and isolation into belonging.

Cora tamed him good. - This is a novella about the struggles of life, desire, and family ties. Boone and Cora met under very unusual circumstances, her tumble back into 1859 an experience I liken to Alice falling down the rabbit hole. She was reeling from a devastating loss at her job, her trip to CO intended to be a salve to her soul. He was still mourning the loss of his wife, living a lonely existence for fear of losing anyone else. Just him and his dog. A practical man, Boone nursed Cora back to health. With her hail and hearty, he unleashed his desire with a verve he hadn't felt in years. Steamy action that leaves them satisfied. But is that enough to build a new life?

Overall an enjoyable tale but I do think the author could have fleshed it out a little more. I didn't feel an undertone of desire leading up to the MCs' first passionate encounter and Boone didn't seem to find it too odd that she was in "cropped trousers" when he found her. Ankles were tantalizing back then and he got to see her bare legs. And she's in trousers. Positively scandalous even on the frontier. Even if he didn't act on them, he would likely have had some racy thoughts to which readers should have been privy. Good man or not, he's still only human.

Despite Cora's knowledge of stillbirths as a midwife, she feels guilty when a birth doesn't go as planned, blaming herself for the loss of a child. After struggling with her emotions, Cora decides to seek solace in a hike through the Colorado wilderness.. When Cora wakes up, she realizes she has traveled back in time to 1859 and finds herself in Boone's rustic cabin. Unsure if she can return to her own time, she contemplates her future and the possibility of fitting into Boone's world.

Both scarred by loss, they navigate a harsh and untamed world together. Initially wary of each other, Boone and Cora struggle with their pasts. Boone, haunted by his own tragedies, resists Cora's presence. Cora, torn between fear and attraction, finds herself drawn to the man who saved her. Their tension eventually blossoms into an undeniable connection.

As they confront their secrets and test their trust, Healing is a challenging journey, but they discover that love can flourish even in the wilderness.

This steamy historical romance delves into themes of trauma, healing, identity, and second chances. It explores how love and trust can lead to belonging, even in the most unlikely circumstances. Ultimately, it's a tale of two broken souls finding solace and strength in each other's arms.

**A Hike Back in Time!**

*Tamed on the Prairie* is the second book in The Original Mountain Man series. I found myself enjoying this installment, featuring Cora and Boone in a captivating short story about instant love. After a really bad day at work, Cora decides to go for a hike but ends up falling down a slope and into the year 1859. There, Boone discovers her and decides to help, even though he finds her clothing and her knowledge of medicine for that time quite peculiar. Cora soon realizes that Boone is not just a homesteader—she is in a different century.

This is a delightful installment with lots of spice, featuring a touch of family drama that helps both characters heal from their pasts and move forward together. It's an enjoyable read that can easily be finished in one sitting, making it a perfect way to spend the afternoon.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Frankie Love delivers another irresistible blend of passion, grit, and heart in Tamed on the Prairie. Cora’s modern perspective colliding with Boone’s old-world ruggedness creates sparks on every page, and the forced proximity (“only one bed!”) makes the tension deliciously addictive.

I loved how Frankie wove the time-travel element into a raw, emotional frontier romance—it felt both magical and grounded in real longing. Boone is the perfect broody, widowed cowboy with a heart of gold, and Cora’s strength and compassion as a midwife make her such a standout heroine. Together, their chemistry is explosive, but it’s their tenderness that truly shines.

If you love steamy prairie-core, swoony cowboys, and the fantasy of finding forever love against impossible odds, this book will sweep you away. A must-read for historical romance fans with a spicy twist!.

Cora and Boone end up nursing each other back to health and into a loving relationship in this time travel series. Cora falls back through time and lands pretty much at Boone's feet and he can't just leave her, so he takes her home and then claims her as his. Their love is quick and fierce and I love their fighting that they do. I really liked when Cora meets up with June. However I feel that there could have been so much more to their meeting when they discuss about where they both came from originally. Hopefully in the next story the ladies come together to discuss these topics, as I think it would add a fun twist to the story.

Back in time by MeemsAngel82

This was written well, a full read and a guaranteed solid one. The time traveling was intriguing, I haven't had a chance to read them much but these gals finding love back in the day seems more raw and real.

He had experienced loss and felt hope with her.

I do feel they were intimate too soon but they have some great chemistry and such a deep one in such a short time. They shared losses together in memory and real time and I felt their connection. She is just what he needed and I felt for the two of them. This is emotional and deals with some heavy topics so be aware when reading. A lovely read with an emotional punch.

I was pleasantly surprised when I realized that this is a time-travel romance. I never read the blurb when I chose to read this book—all I saw was the author's name and the thought that she had another book I would be looking forward to reading.

The MMC was a bit rough, but he was a good man. The author introduced our MCs gradually until you realized that you had been inserted into their lives. There’s not much hype in their lives—they live simple lives, but it feels real. My last thought as I read the final words of the book was that she was meant to be there, and they were meant to meet. Falling in love with each other and choosing to stay is their own decision.

This is the second in The Original Mountain Man Series, Cora is a midwife that is spiraling from a baby who was still born. She is told to take some time, she goes hiking and falls down an incline. She is rescued by Boone, there is something not right, his clothes are different.

Boone is still dealing with the loss of his wife and child, which has made him isolate himself, even from family. He cannot leave her in the elements, and she is injured, he brings he back to his cabin.

Cora realizes she is no longer able to go back home, she is in the 1800s but maybe this is where she is meant to be. When Boone's neighbor goes into labor and no one is around, Cora knows she has to help.

A captivating story about Cora, a woman who, after a hiking accident, finds herself in an unfamiliar time period. She is rescued by Boone, a mountain man intrigued by her strange speech and attire. Despite their differences, Boone helps her, and Cora soon realizes she's not only far from home but also in a different era. The narrative is fast-paced and passionate, focusing on both characters as they come to terms with a past they cannot alter. I found the story exceptionally well-written, with compelling characters and a storyline that builds to a very satisfying happy ending. I highly recommend it if you're looking for an engaging read. A steamy time travel western read, where Cora a midwife from New York travels back to 1859 while visiting her home state of Colorado. She was found by Boone in a gully with a bad cut on her leg. He provided what medical attention, he knew to put on deep cuts. Telling her to rest. Turned out they were very attracted to each other after a couple of days. He was afraid to care to deeply, as she might leave. He moved to Colorado, because his family had pasted. I cannot say enough about this book without giving the whole story away, but it was a magical read with plenty of surprises.

After a devastating day at work Cora decides to take a hike and wakes un in a different time. She is rescued by a grumpy man who takes her back to his cabin to recover and as the chemistry between them ignites she isn’t sure she wants to leave.

Boone has endured a devastating loss that has closed him off to everyone. He lives a solitary life however Cora is the first person to make him feel in a long time but if he is going to convince her to stay it will mean making peace with his past.

This is a heartwarming story about healing from the past, finding the person you are destined to be with and a future that was meant to be.

Cora, a compassionate midwife, faced a heartbreaking moment when a patient lost her baby during childbirth. Now, she finds herself lost in the woods, and to her surprise, she soon realizes she's gone back in time. Boone, a hard-working man, has been feeling lonely since the loss of his wife and baby daughter. He discovers Cora injured on his property. I truly love this story. As Cora and Boone support each other through their emotional journeys, they begin to find healing and, ultimately, their happily ever after.

“Tamed on the Prairie” by Frankie Love

-Cora, a midwife from the present collides with Boone, a widowed homesteader in the past. I received a free copy and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.

Time travel, frontier grit, and steamy grumpy-sunshine tension fuel their bond. Through grief and healing, they rediscover love, trust, and belonging.

A tender, passionate story of second chances across time. The story is a little bumpy in places but an enjoyable read.

Because of a bad eperience at work, Cora goes hiking in the prairie. When she is badly hurt, Boone finds her and cares about her. He still mourned his late wife, but also Cora seems strange, she awakes strong feelings in him. Can their feelings and love withstand the time?
Great read with a lot of feelings and heat. Want to read more of this series.

Tamed on the Prairie (Book 2 of The Original Mountain Man Series) by Frankie Love. Cora needs a break but the last thing she expects it to fall through a time portal, yet it could be the best thing that happens to her yet. Boone is just as surprised as she is by the turn of event and the feelings she stirs. I thought this was a good story and would recommend it to others looking for mild and engaging drama, bits of steam, and much deserved HEA.
