An immortal woman masquerading as a human. A powerful man who can’t afford to trust her. A corrupt ruler determined to destroy them both.

Naomi is gifted with a rare power vital to their species’ survival. Hiding among the mortals has allowed her to evade detection from the brutal men who hunt her. A chance encounter draws the attention of the ruthless, honorable prime building a rebellion against the oppressors of their world.

Defending his legion from any danger has always been Zayn’s priority, no matter the toll it takes on him. With her real identity a mystery, Naomi’s presence in his territory risks everything. He only knows that she fears the men he’s sworn to defeat. Nothing has prepared him for the battle he must wage to win her heart—and protect her from those who would seek to exploit it.

With the rebellion hanging by a thread and a tyrant tightening his grip, they must decide whether their fated bond can withstand the looming supernatural war—or if it will shatter under the strain.

Author's Note

Scarred is a dual perspective paranormal romance with urban fantasy elements. As part of the Lost Sovereign series, it can be read as a standalone, but we recommend that they be read in order. While the romance within sizzles, this series is fade to black/closed door.

I am really enjoying this series so far. I was super stoked when I found out this book was about Naomi and Zayn. I really wanted the best for Naomi after book 2. Now learning some of the new things, I am super stoked for the series to continue. I have to say my favorite thing is the happy endings, and the emotional connections they develop. I love how every connection impacts the war. Everything is tied so intricately together within the story. So good!

This fantasy romance is book 3 in the Lost Sovereign series. The romance in this book is fated mates. The spice in this book is closed door. Naomi just wants to check on Sola, and now Zayn found her. To protect his family, Zayn will do what he has to. Even take Naomi. Naomi will hide who she is to keep what she can do a secret. She can’t let anyone know what she can really do. It’s too dangerous.

Well, clearly this series isn't inspiring me at the moment. I still maintain that the first one is the best of the three I’ve read. In the first book, there was a plot adjacent to politics and romance—not overly dominant—that actually set it apart from the previous series. However, in both the last book and this one, that distinction is lost, and the framework remains substantially similar to the earlier series. I’d venture to say that 80 to 90 percent of it uses the same system; very little has changed between one series and the next. The political landscape is more or less the same, the characters' supernatural abilities are identical, and the "fated mates" system is nearly the same as well.

When the world-building is recycled, the only resource left is to present a compelling romance or interesting characters, and this third book fails there too. The male protagonist is caught halfway between being an "alpha" and a "cinnamon roll," making it seem as though the author couldn't decide what she wanted to achieve with him. The narrative surrounding him and what he actually ends up doing in the book were two completely different things.

I won’t even get into the fact that he neglected to kill one of the main enemies simply because he wanted to see his partner—and this is a guy who supposedly has the strongest and most volatile temperament you’ll ever encounter. There is just no logic to it. As for the female protagonist, she didn't pique my interest at all; I didn't see a single distinctive trait that set her apart from the rest. Ultimately, the romance between them had no real justification beyond the aforementioned trope. They didn't make me feel anything.

Once again, it’s a passable book that becomes quite "meh" by the end. There’s a lingering sense that the characters in future installments will seem interesting until it’s their turn, only for them to end up being bland. That was the case with Zayn in this book, and it will likely be the case with his brother when his time comes. It doesn't help that the story for the next installment doesn't appeal to me much, as the tropes have been feeling like more of the same since the second book.

I only gave this three stars because I really didn’t like Naomi. I understand that a mate of a prime would have to have spunk, and I appreciated that about her, but I really hated the dumb accusations she made to Zayn in comparing him to Julian. He is nothing like Julian and that was just mean. She seemed to flip cards too much between wanting Zayn and not. On the other hand, I loved Asher and can’t wait for his story. Also, why can’t we kill Julian again? Basically every book has nearly ended with the perfect opportunity to kill him. Just take him out, Killian, Erros, and Silas. Whala, no war needed.

4.40 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (💫)

Perfect continuation of the series. The well-established dynamics and relationships among the third legion's siblings in Suffered continue and deepen. I didn't think I could love these characters more, but I was wrong! One of the best things in this book was seeing Sola and Quinn happy.

The next great thing about this installment is Zayn, you can't help but love him more. He is a dreamy MMC. And Asher! (I need his book as soon as possible 😭). Both brothers are loyal, protective, and sweet with their family.
In Scarred, we get to know them more. We see how they work as a team, and the ups and downs they went through had my heart clenching and dancing (not at the same time).

Out of all the books, this one surprised me and made me laugh the most. I loved the couple, but there were a few occasions when I didn't particularly like their attitude toward one another (I had a complaint for each one of them, but Naomi… she was outright cruel with her words once, and Zayn didn't deserve it. It was hard to look past that).

Speaking of what I did love about their interactions: I loved how they felt like home to one another and how they overcame past beliefs and insecurities about their bond, especially on Naomi's part. The way her character's context changes from the beginning of the book to the end is simply beautiful.

Regarding our villains, is it possible to hate them more with each book? Absolutely. Every piece of backstory we learn makes the series richer, but even sadder for the characters. The main conflict keeps growing, and the stakes are higher, but there's a long way to go. This series gets better and better!

I've followed this series religiously since Book 1, and with each succeeding book the series plot unravels in ways you don't expect. I'm always thankful that the mated couple that's the focus of each book gets their happily-for-now at the end, but the evil they're fighting grows more threatening. I end up dreading what's to come in the future books, terribly worried about what horrors are yet to be endured by the heroes and heroines of those books until the evil is finally defeated.

I enjoyed the character development that the MCs were treated to in this book. Miss Anna tells us of their struggles, fears, and passions with detailed clarity that you can't help but be marvelled by them all throughout the book. I loved their displays of power, especially, as it keeps the entertainment aspect of the book at top peak. Then of course there is the endearing romance between the main characters, and I've always enjoyed how Ms. Anna builds it up so enticingly that you can't help but be eager to get to the point when they finally discover the mating bond between them and consummate it.

As always, the end of this book gives us a glimpse of what the next series installment will be, and they will be focused on characters who have already been introduced previously. The way the epilogue gives us a peek of what the future book will be about just leaves you all the more excited for it, and I can't wait!

I was granted an advanced review copy of this book by the author. I write this review voluntarily.

📚🩷 ARC Thoughts and First Impressions 🩷📚
Ohhhh this one had me HOOKED from page one 😍🔥
If you love hidden identities, dangerous worlds, and romance simmering under impossible odds—this book DELIVERS. We’ve got a fierce heroine living in plain sight while carrying something incredibly powerful inside her 👀✨ and a battle-worn leader who trusts almost no one… until her.
The tension?? IMMACULATE.
There’s this constant push-and-pull of should I trust you / I really shouldn’t want you / why do I feel safer with you 😮‍🔥 The slow build between them is delicious—protective energy, reluctant attraction, shared danger, and moments that made my heart squeeze.
⚔️ TROPES WE LOVE ⚔️
🖤 Hidden identity
🔥 Fated connection
🛡️ Protector MMC
👑 Rebel leader
🌌 Supernatural politics
💔 Trust issues
💞 Slow-burn romance
✨ “The world is ending but I choose you” vibes
The world-building is rich without being overwhelming. There’s rebellion, corruption, power struggles, and a looming threat that keeps the stakes HIGH. I loved how the dual POV let us see both sides—the fear, the duty, the longing, and the sacrifices neither of them wants to admit they’d make for each other.
And while this is closed-door, don’t be fooled—THE CHEMISTRY IS THERE 😌🔥 Long looks, charged moments, emotional intimacy, and that quiet intensity that makes everything feel deeper and more meaningful.
Overall, this ARC was such a fun, immersive read with strong characters, high tension, and a romance that feels earned. If you enjoy paranormal romance with heart, grit, and destiny tangled up in danger—add this to your TBR immediately

Well I said at the end of my review of book 2, Suffered, that the epilogue left me itching for the release of Scarred, and it was totally worth the wait. This author’s writing style is fluid and engaging, and her characters get right under your skin. I thoroughly loved this book, the emotional journey is intense again, with so much fear and anxiety because of the evil that exists, but balanced with the found family, love and mate bonds. This time we follow what happened to Naomi after she escaped, and how it ties back in to Sola, and therefore her and Zayn meeting. No more spoilers, it is too good to allow that, just get reading is my best advice. 😎

I find some aspects of the story line triggering personally, but always find comfort from knowing that no matter what happens there will be a HEA for the main characters in each book, and hope remains for progress towards a better future for all the Sagani. This alone tells me how well it is written and how engaging it is, with how invested in the outcomes I become. Once again the epilogue teases book 4, Savaged, which has me desperate to keep reading, as we circle back to what has been happening for Lark, and how her horror father plans to use her next 😵‍💫. I am holding on to the knowledge that will be coming next year, as I am definitely feeling the book hangover from this one!

I loved this book so much! The gripping opening line pulled me right into this fast-paced story. I was glued to the pages! It's my favorite book of the series! Each book gets better and better, which is saying a lot because they’ve all been top-notch.

I really liked Zayn and Naomi. The chemistry between them was off the charts! Zayn had a strong personality. (That could be a lot at times.) But I liked seeing his softer side. And I loved seeing the bond between him and his siblings. Naomi had been through a lot, which is an understatement. I loved seeing her inner strength and her character growth. I was so proud of her!

If you’re a fan of closed-door paranormal romance, you’ll love this series! I can’t recommend it highly enough. While this could be read as a standalone, I’d still recommend starting with book one.

I received a copy of this book and voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and comments are my honest opinion.

Scarred is the third book in The Lost Sovereign series. It follows the story Zayn and Naomi, characters who made appearances in the previous books.

Zayn, the Prime of the Third Legion. Naomi, a highly sought after Anchoria, who is hiding from an evil A-hole.

Each book in this series gets better and better.

An Amazing Read!

Zayn and Naomi’s story is well worth the read. Between their banter and chemistry, I was practically giddy. The trials they face are insane! Julian, Erro and Kinnick are as creepy as ever, I seriously cannot wait for those three to get what’s coming to them. “Scarred” deserves far more than 5 stars.

I’m sorry but how is Naomi going to tell Zayn he’s just as bad as Erro and Julian, and then when he breaks down and feels bad for essentially being great to her, but asking for her to stay put for HER safety, she’s all of a sudden like no you’re nothing like them ! She literally says he’s imprisoning her then he feels bad for literally doing nothing but being great to her. Then she wants to be like oh no you’re so great, nothing like them. She literally just told him he was. 🤦🏻‍♀️

4.25⭐️finished in a day!

Naomi is hiding in the human world after escaping a tyrant, Julian, who was using her magic for evil. One quick lapse to check in on a friend pulls her back into Julian’s orbit but this time she isn’t alone in the fight. Zayn is a juxtaposition of many things but Naomi peels back his layers, she realizes they both are more than the scars they possess and walls they’ve built around themselves. Now she must stand and prove that scars aren’t weaknesses, they’re proof of survival.

✨fated mates
✨enemies to more
✨forced proximity
✨hidden identities

Scarred is an excellent next installation in the lost sovereigns series! It is fast paced, emotional, action packed, and has an exciting ending that had me dying to find out what happens next!

I loved how Zayn took such good care of Naomi, and how Naomi became such a crucial part of Zayn’s life so quickly! His protectiveness and tenderness brought out her personality so well, I loved their banter.

Just go read it already! It is so good! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I received an ARC from the author, all thoughts and opinions are my own. (Thank you Anna!)
