Rate this book
When Elizabeth Bennet’s reputation is placed in peril by the treachery of George Wickham, her future seems ruined beyond repair. Yet fate, and a certain gallant officer, intervenes.

Colonel Richard Fitzwilliam, steadfast and honorable, cannot stand idly by while Elizabeth suffers for another man’s villainy. His solution is swift, his proposal even marriage. What begins as a union of necessity soon reveals the tender spark of something more.

But marriage brings its own challenges. Between Lady Catherine’s ire, Mr. Collins’s meddling, and Elizabeth’s own doubts, can trust and affection blossom into love? Or will duty bind them together without the warmth of true companionship?

Rescued by Colonel Fitzwilliam is a steamy, romantic novelette variation of Pride and Prejudice, featuring a beloved secondary hero who steps into the spotlight. With scandal, marriage of convenience, and tender passion, this tale what if Elizabeth Bennet’s happily-ever-after belonged not to Mr. Darcy, but to his cousin?

About the author

Grace Reeve

Grace Reeve writes swoon-worthy stories inspired by the wit, passion, and unforgettable characters of Jane Austen. With a particular fondness for Mr. Darcy, clever heroines, and slow-burning tension, her novels blend Regency elegance with heart-fluttering romance. When she’s not dreaming up new ways for Elizabeth Bennet to scandalize society, Grace can be found curled up with a cup of tea, a cravat-clad hero, and far too many notebooks.

She lives for grand declarations, stolen glances, and happily ever afters—with just enough mischief along the way.

Extremely short

I genuinely hadn't realized that this is a short story, not a novella. In truth, it feels like the first chapter of a longer book. There is no context for his life. We don't know how he will support them, who signed the marriage articles, what her reception will be from his family, where they will live...it just ends after their first night together.
