The agency captivated me in ways that I can't really explain, it was a smooth read and I can see myself reading it again.
I wish I had someone like Maami in our corner who never leaves you stranded and prays for you while delivering wisdom.
I never saw myself falling for a book boyfriend at Dale age,his maturity and intelligence capture my heart ❤️❤️.
It was a wholesome experience with all the characters, thank you Mr Eniola Ositelu for such a wonderful book,I learnt a lot.
highly anticipating your next book.

When I first finished The Agency, I gave it two stars because I struggled to connect with the story. After having the opportunity to speak with the author, however, I gained a better understanding of some of the creative decisions behind the novel. While that conversation didn't completely change my experience as a reader, it did give me a greater appreciation for the story the author set out to tell.
For me, the biggest challenge was the pacing of several major plot developments. Some revelations and character decisions happened so quickly that I found myself wanting more build-up and emotional depth before they unfolded. As a reader, I felt that a few key relationships and motivations would have been even more compelling if they had been explored in greater detail.
That said, I appreciated the attempt to tell a contemporary Nigerian workplace story centred on ambition, relationships, loyalty and the complexities of corporate life. It's a refreshing setting that isn't explored often enough in Nigerian fiction, and I can see why many readers have connected with it.
One thing I've come to appreciate is that stories resonate differently with different people. While certain aspects of the novel didn't fully work for me, they clearly have for many other readers, and that's one of the things I enjoy about reading, our experiences are rarely identical.
Overall, The Agency wasn't quite the reading experience I had hoped for, but I respect the work that went into creating it and the conversations it has sparked. I'd encourage anyone who's curious to pick it up and decide for themselves. You may connect with the characters and the story in ways that I didn't.

This was a good read for me. Not a book that I’ll be shouting about for the rest of my life, but definitely an enjoyable story that I’m glad I picked up. The story follows Bamidele, a former Navy SEAL officer who returns to Nigeria after being released from prison, hoping to rebuild his life. He eventually finds work at a marketing agency, and a lot of the story unfolds within that corporate environment.
One thing I really enjoyed was getting a glimpse into the inner workings of a creative agency. I loved seeing how ideas are formed, how pitches are made, and the subtle competition between agencies trying to win clients. That aspect of the book was genuinely interesting to read about. I also really liked Bamidele’s character and adored his grandmother, Madam Juliana. She was easily one of my favorite characters in the book. Her warmth, wisdom, and humility made every scene with her feel special.
That said, the writing was sometimes a bit overly descriptive for my taste. There were moments where I felt like the story could have moved along faster. The pacing also felt a little slow for most of the book, and the parts that really hooked me didn’t arrive until around the last 30%. However, I did appreciate the plot twist toward the end. I genuinely didn’t see it coming.
The book blends several elements: office drama, family dynamics, subtle romance, and a touch of politics. The romance is present but veryy light, so I wouldn’t go into this expecting a romance-heavy story. I’d describe it more as contemporary fiction with strong workplace themes. If you enjoy stories set in professional environments or you’re curious about the world of marketing agencies, this might be one to try. It also offers something a little different within Nigerian contemporary fiction.
Overall, this was a solid 3.5-star read for me. It had its strengths and a few things that didn’t fully work for me, but it was still a good reading experience.

The Agency is a beautifully written story that really pulls you in.
It follows Dale as he tries to rebuild his life after serving time in prison, relocating to Nigeria for a fresh start. Watching his journey unfold was both engaging and emotional.
Dale’s grandmother? Absolutely my favorite character. Everyone needs a Maami in their life — she was just everything.
And Elizabeth… she’s hilarious 😂 You’ll have to read the book to fully understand why.
As someone who works in marketing and communications, I actually learned a lot from this book. It’s clear the author did solid research, which made the story even more compelling.
My only issue was the number of characters — there were quite a lot of names, and I found myself losing track at some point.
The twists in this book were really interesting too — I didn’t see them coming at all.
This is a 4-star read, and I highly recommend it!

The story follows a man who returns to Nigeria after serving time in prison in America. As he starts over with a job at a marketing agency, he must navigate a series of personal and professional challenges.
What I enjoyed most about this book was how easy it was to read. It was well written and the plot was easy to follow and engaging. There were also subtle business and workplace elements woven into the story that added an extra layer of interest.
If you enjoy easy reads with a few life lessons along the way, I think you’ll enjoy this one. I recommend.

The Agency offers an engaging behind-the-scenes look at Nigeria’s creative and marketing industry through the journey of a man rebuilding his life after prison. I especially enjoyed the workplace dynamics, the themes of redemption and second chances, and the authentic portrayal of ambition, family, and new beginnings. It’s a thoughtful, character-driven novel that stays with you long after the last page.

One thing this book makes very clear: a scorned woman is not to be underestimated.
I didn’t see the twist coming at all, and there were moments that genuinely caught me off guard, even a few that made me laugh in shock.
As someone in marketing, this book really stood out to me.
