Let me preface by saying I genuinely did enjoy the book and the storyline she was trying to achieve.
HOWEVER...spoilers below:
Ellie aka Penelope Reign Emris
So where did her last name come from? In Syns flashback he says daddy was talking to Mr. Emris about what he was going to do to her.
Syn- she says to Cade he was a foster brother that would step in and take blame for her to avoid her getting hit.
She says she grew up without a father, her adoptive mother killed herself and was left with her step father, which I already have pointed out was actually Syn's dad.
Still leaves confused. Who is Mr. Emris? And how did Ellie get that last name.
It's all so confusing and hard to really understand. Please anyone that has insight or clarification comment so I don't feel crazy for not understanding.
Why did the ending feel so rushed...right when I'm beyond intrigued and where I feel should have MAYBE been a halfway point, the book ends. What do you mean she was pissed off after realizing it was Cade and Syn? The 2 men she claimed to love so much were the men that got rid of her POS husband and were breaking her free from her shitty marriage and she tried to storm off? I beg your finest pardon!!! Then she gets chloroformed, thrown in a basement, raped by 2 masked men that she says are Syn and Cade. That doesn't even make sense! If it were them why tf would they even wear a mask? Also BOTH of them wete so against trafficking and non consent it seems so that just threw me off. Then some knight in shining armor saves her and shes happy in love again? Said knight in shining armor should be who exactly? So rushed at the end and so many questions because it just felt like there was little thought in the last few pages. I plan on reading the next book in hopes of the author redeeming herself.

This book messed me up in the literal best way possible. It’s been a long time since a book has made me simultaneously feel so much, and kept me on my toes. I read A LOT. And mind you a wide range of books, but Marie did something incredibly special here. Talked heavy topics while also building a world that I know is just getting started. I LOVED her husband only to find out he was a monster for her to fall for the men that I thought originally to be the monsters of the story. But in fact they were the only men that have ever truly loved her. This book is HOT. I’m talking 5 chilis kind of spicy and OH MY LORD. It’s a must read for me.

Wow… this book had me feeling all the feels. The FMC is a complex character and I love her strong will. This is a dark romance but has such an amazing storyline. Be prepared to ride a rollercoaster with all kinds of twists and turns. Forever in love with the fireman 🔥

soooo good!!! I took me a moment to get into it the FMC whined so much about her marriage etc. but as I got further in I was hooked. The fireman's mouth just wow. The chemistry between the glassmaker, firemen and our fmc just flames. check your triggers but this was such a good story.
