Ewa Jozefkowicz grew up in Ealing, and studied English Literature at UCL.
The daughter of a bookseller, she has always been a lover of children's books and has dreamed of publishing her own. She wrote her first book aged 5 (meticulously self-illustrated with felt tip pen) and twenty five years later achieved her dream of being a published children's author with 'The Mystery of The Colour Thief'. She is fascinated by stories about friendship and growing up.
Thank you so much to Zephyr/ House of Zeus/ Bloomsbury and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.
Trix is part of the explorers club, a group of nature loving children that love looking after their wonderful and magical woodlands. But Trix notices somethings is wrong in the woods, there are very little flowers now and no bees or bugs at all. She knows she must do something to fix it.
What a fun and creative book, I really had such a fun time reading this book. It was so full of facts as you went through, as though you were reading Trix’s journal full of knowledge of bugs and flowers. It taught you how to build so many things too which would help with nature, I really loved the way it was created.
I loved how the nature explorers had a great teacher who was happy to guide them and lead them on a topic they wanted to work on, to help them understand what was missing in the natures habitat and to figure out what they could all do together. It was so sweet how they worked as a great big team to bring the woods back to life again.
This is such a sweet story for children to read, it’s going to help encourage readers to explore nature surrounding them, and to help what they can to bring back the bees, to keep planting seeds and growing flowers. The book had so many sweet illustrations showing the children, showing the flowers, the nature it was great looking at everything that was drawn in greyscale throughout the book.
(I read an ebook of this story but cannot find it listed on here yet, so wanted to still add my review to Goodreads)
A fun early chapter book about protecting wildlife, filled with illustrations throughout - perfect for early independent readers.
Trix realises that the woods where she lives have less flowers than last summer, and sets out to figure out why and how she can fix it. The story is interspersed with Trix's notes, which teach readers about nature, its inhabitants, and how they can help too.
I didn't realise until midway through that this book is a part of a series, and there were a few references to previous adventures that didn't make sense without context. However, they didn't massively detract from the story, and I would be curious to read more from this series anyway!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the eArc!
