Sloane & Sully 💕

I feel like we don’t get this trope enough.
Marriage in crisis - divorcing
Throw in they have a child
AND surprise pregnancy!

I liked these two. I liked the realistic portrayal of how marriages can get hard. And losing yourself along the way with kids. And how you’ve got to put in the work.
I found myself being like yep I can relate.

It also had its touches of funny:
Lawyers
Wacky building
A psychic
A giant cat

“A thousand todays with you wouldn’t be enough, sweetheart.”

After the glimpse of Sully & Sloane we got in the first Dad Coms book, I literally couldn’t wait for their book and I ate up Better Daddy! While Sully might have become more absent over the years, it is so clear how much he truly loves Sloane and how much he wants to change for his family. And the groveling this man does…sheesh he is determined to win his wife back and I am here for it! And then add in a little surprise that’s brewing…I knew this was going to be absolutely perfect.

But I also love that Sloane is so strong and determined to stand on her own two feet as well. She’s dealt with a lot and I love seeing her discover herself and take what she wants as well! The emotions are raw and the vulnerability between Sloane & Sully really comes through in the writing.

Also, every single character in this series is my favorite! I truly cannot get enough of everyone and Madame E never fails to make me laugh with how much she truly knows/sees!

Thank you so much to Brittanee Nicole & Jenni Bara for letting me read an ARC of the book!

RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
SPICE: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Did I sit down to read this and not put it down until I was done… why yes, yes I did.

Sully and Sloane were so good together, the humor hit just right, and I absolutely loved them and Theo eclectic family. Ans I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, marriage in crisis is such and underrated trope and it hits every single time.

✨ Marriage is Crisis
✨ Surprise Pregnancy
✨ Hate to Love You
✨ Forced Proximity

I love Sloane and Sully and their entire journey back to each other as someone who had been married for a lot of years this book still really just hit home in all the ways that two people need to put I. The work to keep a marriage happy. Sloane and Sully lost their way, but watching them find their love for each other all over again.. well this book wrecked me.

Plus this family and that cursed apartment made me goggle uncontrollably more times that I could count. They are all such a mess but I love them dearly.

I also just loved the dynamic they all had and I loved Sloane and Sully fighting for their family, their surprise baby and each other.

Plus I like the make up spice because there is just something about good spice after an argument that really just does it for me.

There was just something. About this book that absolutely called to me and I loved every moment of it

This gets a very generous 2 ⭐️ Y’all… I actually hated this FMC. Yes, both characters struggled with communication, both had their issues to work through, but she took it to Olympic-level toxic. A raging menace. Sully deserved better, and honestly? Surviving her should come with therapy vouchers. She didn’t just make his life miserable, she spread the misery around to everyone. I hate how they made him grovel and give up things when she was an entitled bitch (and I don’t use that word lightly). (you could see my eye twitch there, couldn’t you?)

I loved book 1. I loved everyone but her in this one. I’ll be diving into book 3 with high hopes (and praying her cameo is minimal). Sure, it ended with a HEA, but she and I would never be friends. She had my blood pressure spiking the entire read.

If there’s one thing I love, it’s a marriage in crisis romance. They’re so REAL! Every couple goes through hard times, and what’s more romantic than deciding to put in the work to stay together because neither of you want to try with anyone else?? 🥹

💙 Marriage in Crisis
💙 Surprise Pregnancy
💙 Lawyer MMC & FMC
💙 Forced Proximity
💙 “my wife”

Sully & Sloane were just amazing. The bickering at the beginning was hilarious and the callbacks to the memories they’ve accumulated throughout their relationship were so swoony. He remembered everything about her past pregnancy and used that information to make this one easier. I mean, COME ON 🥹😭.

Listen, I am a hoe for a man who grovels, and Sully DELIVERS! The personal growth & realizations of where he’s fallen short, standing up for his wife, putting her first (in all ways iykyk 😏). Just so perfect.

I especially loved that Sloane realized where she went wrong in the relationship, too. It wasn’t all 1 persons fault. Both partners let their relationship get to the state it was in, and were equally determined to be better.

As was the case in Who’s Your Daddy, we got a warm & hilarious found family with everyone living in the brownstone together.

🎧 AUDIO UPDATE - Getting to experience this re-read via audio made me fall in love with Sully & Slone even more! The banter, the tension, the GROVELING!!! And Sully’s accent?? SWOON CITY! CJ Bloom & Connor Crais absolutely knocked this one out of the park!

I truly cannot recommend these books enough! They deliver in spice, swoon, & laughs. I cannot wait for Brian’s story in Bonus Daddy!

e-ARC review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐❤️

Who's Your Daddy by Brittanee Nicole & Jenni Bara was exceptionally exquisite. Huge thanks to The Author Agency for letting me read an advanced copy.

One of the things I love the most about second-chance romances is when they actually prove that second chances are earned — that it takes effort from both sides, not just a quick “I’m sorry.” And that’s exactly what hooked me in this second book of the Daddy’s series.

Sully and Sloane have been married for years, but somewhere along the way, he lost his way: stopped being a husband, a partner, a father. Until one day, she gives him an ultimatum and asks for a divorce. In that moment, Sloane’s whole world collapses. You know the saying, “you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone”? Well, this book is the perfect example.

At first, the premise bothered me — because nothing annoys me more than a character who only moves when they’re about to lose it all. Like, man, you should’ve deserved her from the start. But as the story unfolds and you see everything Sloane does to win Sully back, you realize that some people truly do deserve a second chance. Not because love makes you blind, but because they reach a whole new level of maturity.

And honestly? I loved it from start to finish. It felt like such a slow burn — not in the spice department, but in how they slowly found their way back to each other as a couple. I adored that. Now I just can’t wait to finish and dive into the last book in the series, which already looks so, so good.

🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧
Duet multi-cast narration
Narration by Connor Crais, CJ Bloom, Angelina Rocca, Sean Masters, and Stephen Dexter

“I was a bloody wanker to you for too long. Don’t let me off the hook easy, okay? I can do better and I want to earn you.”

Ahhh!! This book was absolute perfection and I loved every second of it! The way it opened had me instantly hooked! I went in pretty blind, but the second I saw who was narrating it, I knew I had to listen! And my gosh, do Jenni and Brittanee always pick the best narrators for their books!! Every single time!! CJ and Connor did such an incredible job bringing Sloane and Sully to life!

And Connor with an ACCENT! A BRITISH ONE!!! He absolutely NAILED Sully’s character, and the accent only made me love his performance even more! Connor continuously knocks it out of the park with his performance! Hearing him perform a grumpy, career-driven British MMC who’s been in love with his wife and willing to do whatever it took to win her back was so perfectly done! He brought out all the best parts of Sully and made me swoon through every scene.

CJ’s performance as Sloane was hands down one of my favorites of hers. She brought out Sloane’s feisty boss-b*tch personality SO well. I was hooked from the first chapter! But as much as I love a FEISTY FMC performed by CJ, I equally love a vulnerable one! And Sloane hid her vulnerability so well, but when it came through, CJ absolutely captured it with so much heart. Every emotional moment hit me right in the feels, and I loved every second of it!

Pair Brittanee and Jenni's writing with these performances and I'm hooked. I can't recommend this audiobook enough! Sully and Sloane's way back to each other was truly something special! Not to mention the incredible side characters Angelina, Stephen, and Sean all did an equally amazing job with each of their performances!!

After reading Who's Your Daddy, I could not wait for Sully & Sloane's story (this can be read as a standalone but to get the full background, I highly recommend reading Who's Your Daddy first). Marriage in crisis is such an underrated trope & one of my favorites, Brittanee Nicole & Jenni Bara nail this one.

The emotions around the premise are so relatable - loving one another but losing yourselves. Sully has been so focused on his career that he lost sight of his wife's needs & Sloane lost herself to motherhood. The neglect & resent built up to the point where she asks for divorce - but Sully isn't one to go without a fight. On top of that, Sloan & Sully must navigate their evolving marriage while going through an surprise pregnancy. This is all while living with the entire Murphy clan in a dilapidated brownstone in Jersey.

Brittanee & Jenni once again do a phenomenal job at balances humor with the emotional toll these characters are going through. Both Sully & Sloane have such excellent character growth but for me, it's Sully's "ah ha" moments where he realizes what an arse he's been (Sully is British so figured I'd just go with it). The way that man shows how much he loves his wife, even when his perfectly planned date night takes a turn, he's swoony & unapologetically obsessed with Sloane. That man will do whatever it takes to get his family back.

This is an ensemble cast of characters & I just love seeing the entire crew we met in Book 1 again. You can't help but love Madame E & Cal's golden retriever energy is once again out of control. I also appreciated the side plots - Sloane's career (love her assistant Julius), the appearance of Cal & Sully's mom, & the lead into Book 3.... Brian's story is teased at the end & I cannot wait to get to Bonus Daddy!!!

The world Brittanee & Jenni create is such a fun one to visit - their writing always brings a smile (and also the spice - which there is no shortage of here).

Better Daddy is one statement I would agree with Cal that suits Sully as obviously Cal from the first book has got to be the Best Daddy. I loved that part in this book. In Better Daddy we return to the crazy and full flat and we turn to Sully this time whose wife that he shares a son with wants a divorce after a long marriage that he was not the best in, only for it to be slightly adapted after a passionate and unexpected night they shared ends in Sloane getting pregnant and not against her better judgement she moves in with everyone increasing the amount of people in that flat by two.

This book really did center around change, Sully was not the greatest husband to Sloane while they were married before Sloane was trying to call it off, it really does all get messy when they are lawyers and know the ins and outs of things. So once Sully found out Sloane was pregnant and she moved in, he really started to make that change and it was very clear to see what he wanted in life.

I really enjoyed reading this book, Sully and Sloane had me hooked at every corner wanting to know what would happen next and it certainly did not disappoint in the slightest. Their story before, the rebuilding of the foundation of their love and why they got married in the first place was all perfect.

Although it can be clearly unpleasant for everyone who lives there, I love everyone in that flat and each of them featured in so many key points in Sloane and Sully rebuilding their relationship. There were so many funny moments in this book that all increased as the book went on and I am so glad that I got to read the book.

Better Daddy absolutely slayed me. This marriage-in-trouble romance had everything—steam, angst, heart and so much love. Sully and Sloane are a couple you’ll root for from start to finish. Throw in an accidental pregnancy, co-parenting chaos and living in a rundown building with their best friends? Things get messy in the best way.

Sullivan “Sully” Murphy is completely obsessed with his wife. His groveling? Top tier. His love for Sloane and their kids? Off the charts. His dirty mouth? Whew. 🔥 Watching him fight to be not just a better husband but a Better Daddy will have you swooning.

Sloane is such a relatable FMC—strong, vulnerable, and navigating life as a wife, mother, and career woman. Her journey of rediscovery hit me hard. You feel every moment of her struggle, her growth, and her love.

Their path back to each other is full of laughs, love, tension, and incredible support from their found family. Bonus: fun cameos for longtime fans! This was a 5-star emotional rollercoaster I couldn’t put down. Absolutely brilliant.

Sloan and Sully are on the brink of divorce when Sloan discovers she’s pregnant again. Sully is desperate to keep his family together, but Sloan fears he’ll once again put his job before her and their son. Determined to prove he’s changed, Sully sets out to show Sloan that their marriage is worth saving.

I loved watching them navigate their challenges and work toward reconciliation. The mix of heartfelt moments and hilarious family shenanigans made the story both emotional and entertaining.

CJ Bloom and Connor Crais are absolute perfection as Sloan and Sully. CJ captures Sloan’s strength and vulnerability beautifully, while Connor brings Sully’s sweetness and sincerity to life as he tries to win her back. With the addition of the full cast, this audiobook is truly a must listen!

This was pretty good. I probably liked it about equal to the first book. While marriage in trouble usually isn’t my favorite trope, this was an enjoyable read for the most part and at least Sully was way less cringey than Cal. Looking forward to reading book 3. Second Chance and single mom? 😘

This was so much more enjoyable for me compared to book 1. I did also gel more with Cal and Lo better here. I'm sucker for both marriage in crisis and surprise pregnancy but combined? I AM SAT! This was so good - we love a man who grovels. I was giggling and having a great time. I loved T.J. One thing for me through was the third act conflict. I found it completely unnecessary given the progress Sully and Sloane had made by then. But otherwise, a great book. Thank you to luna literary management for the arc.

Thank you to Luna Literary Management, Brittanee Nicole and Jenni Bara for allowing me to be an ARC reader for Better Daddy (book #2 in the Dadcoms series).

This was a trope I've not read very much of but I found I ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would. Marriage in crisis is hard to nail, I think it can end up being hard to redeem the character who is "in the wrong" from the history of the relationship and I do feel as though this book fell foul to this at times. Sully was not an insta-love character for me like so many of the characters in this shared universe are. I struggled to find him redeemable after having been compliant in the downfall of his marriage with Sloane. He became an absent father and husband but vowed to make it right with the news of their new unexpected arrival on the way.

Throughout the book Sully proclaims his love for Sloane and their son however it did feel disingenious at times, I felt as though he only missed having a wife and child constantly present because he saw his brother falling in love and expanding his family.

In saying that, there were elements of this book I did enjoy. Sloane was the main one. She was a great character; funny, badass and - most importantly - she knew her worth. The pair attempt to fix their relationship after a shared ONS leads to a tiny plus sign on a pregnancy test. It was sweet to watch Sully become the father he always should have been and basically begin again with Sloane; dating her (the hilarious disaster that the recreation of their first date was still cracks me up when I think of it), and just trying to prove that he can be a better father and husband.

This was an enjoyable read but unfortunately I was left wanting more from these characters.

After meeting them both in Who's your daddy, I was not a fan of Sloane, but loved Sully. I was really hoping I was being harsh and would learn more about Sloane and why she is the way she is (walls up and a bit of a word that isn't very polite), but also maybe bring Sully down a couple notches. I assumed having their story, things would just click. Instead, I found myself loving Sully more and really struggling to connect with Sloane. Don't get me wrong. I understand her. I get why the walls of self preservation are up, but ultimately… I just am not her biggest fan. Do my feelings soften towards her toward the end of their story? Yes. Do I imagine lots of people will love their story and see her in a different light? Sure. But for me, she just caused a lot of struggle. I continued reading when I would have rather stopped because I do love Sully and I loved the first book. Overall, I'm glad I finished reading and I'm glad Sully got the happily ending he wanted. I guess the story somewhat worked because I went from severe dislike of Sloane to feeling general apathy for her at the end 🤷‍♀️.

At the outset (and in the previous book in the series) Sloane and Sully are long-term partners whose careers were placed ahead of their marriage, especially Sully’s, as Sloane while a brilliant attorney in her own right, stepped back a bit to bring their son into the world. Little man is now six, Sloane and Sully aren’t living in the same state, let alone in the same home, and they’ve just learned they’ve made an oopsie baby. Due to the terms of a highly questionable will, Sloane and their son are being forced to cohabitate once more with Sully in a semi-communal office-condo space for at least one full calendar year or the firm will be dismantled, and all their hard work with it. Sully jumps at the opportunity to convince Sloane to stay with him for good.

While an unplanned pregnancy is one of my least favorite tropes in romance, it’s whatever here. Sloane needed some sort of impetus to go along with the far fetched will requirements, so sure, deploy it as a plot point. The marriage in trouble device is also showcased here, to pretty decent effect.

I received an advance copy from The Author Agency, and I’m sharing my honest review.

🎶 “Remember lookin' at this room, we loved it 'cause of the light. Now, I just sit in the dark and wonder if it's time” 🎶

Sloane Marie Murphy (h) is the only woman he has ever loved, the mother of his child and his soon to be ex wife. Desperate to save his family, he agrees to a clause in his late father’s trust that forces him to move their lives and law practice from New York City to a rundown town in New Jersey. Sloane wants out, but one unexpected night and two pink lines change everything. With a baby on the way and a second chance within reach, he is determined to prove he can be the husband and father she deserves.

“Did you bring me in here hoping for a repeat?”

“No,” she snaps. “I brought you into this damn closet to say I’m pregnant.”

“Oh shit. You’re the incubator.”

We did not get a great first impression of Sully, who accused Sloane of getting the job at the firm with Will because he was attracted to her rather than for her merit. Then he got upset about not being at the ultrasound. His constant accusations made him come across as off-putting, but I will admit he did improve a little by the end.

The idea of having a baby on my own is terrifying, but I don’t know how to be around the man who still makes my heart skip a beat, because the last time I gave it to him, he was reckless with it.

The main issue I had was that he did not realize he kept putting the firm first until the very end. It took Cal, Lo, and Brian all agreeing that he continuously prioritized his career and disregarded her before he finally recognized it, right when he was on the verge of losing her again. I love a marriage in crisis and a pregnancy trope, but this one felt like they reconciled only for the baby. Yes, he showed up and tried to be a better husband, and it took the entire pregnancy for that growth, but if it had not been for the baby, I do not think they would have ever truly talked things out. I will say I appreciated that she became more open and honest about her feelings. She communicated what she needed, and that was a big step for her character.

“I love you too.” I grasp his forearm, clinging to him. “And I’m so sorry it took me so long to get here, but I don’t want to be anywhere else.”

That said, the book was frustrating because it felt like they were constantly in and out of their relationship. She did not know if she wanted to be back with him. One moment she would think, I have a crush on my husband, I love him, I want him back. The next, he would do something she did not like, and she would start backing away again. She was constantly on the fence, wondering whether to continue with the divorce or let it go. I do not blame her, though. She had every right to be frustrated. He rarely paid attention to her needs, especially when it came to her career. She was raising their son practically on her own while always putting her career second to his. She deserved to feel unseen and unheard. In the end, I think it worked out. Whether or not it was because of the baby, they still found their own version of a happy ending.

—*•.¸♡ ★·.·☾ ゚。´OVERALL゚☁︎。`·.·★ ♡¸.•*⋆—

I do believe he loved Sloane and wanted to provide for her. He did everything he could to win her back, and he genuinely loved his children. He was a good dad, but he failed to be a good partner. Both of them were to blame for not communicating and not setting boundaries. They needed to talk about what they wanted from each other instead of constantly arguing. She was not transparent and kept everything bottled up, but she was working on it.

Book two of the Dadcoms was another hit that I thoroughly enjoyed! If you’re not familiar with the Dadcoms yet, here’s a brief overview: Forced into a dilapidated and infested building in New Jersey for 365 days before they can take ownership of a company from their late father, two brothers and their best friend are faced with a very unlikely and unexpected situation! The three books will each focus on one of the men, and these books do not disappoint!

Better Daddy focuses on Sully (Cal’s brother) and Sloane. Married for years with one son (TJ), we learn that their marriage suffered and both Sully and Sloane lost themselves and lost who they were as husband and wife. Sloane asked for a divorce, and by that point they were surviving on resentment and lost identity. Yet an unexpected moment of rekindled love led to an unexpected pregnancy which, according to the will Sully’s father left, forced them to have to live together for the full year.

This book takes your through a wonderful and emotional journey of the ups and downs of marriage, the joys and challenges of parenting, and clearly connects you with the true struggle of understanding your worth and personal identity as you grow older. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Sloane’s personal journey to reestablish her independence and personal identity beyond being a wife and mom. Sully’s path to recognizing his own misgivings and his energy and effort to prove his devotion was swoony and so real.

Serious topics aside, it wouldn’t be a true dadcom book without all the chaos that comes with multiple families under one roof! The banter was hilarious, and I can only imagine how crazy that living arrangement must actually be! Sloane’s “personal oasis” setup had me laughing every time!

✨ Forced proximity

Hello, Better Daddy Sully! Okay what is it with this Murphy men? Seriously? I love them both and yet they're soooo different! Sully is serious vs Cal's goofiness and I love them equally. We ended book 1 with a cliffhanger of Sully and his soon to be ex-wife, Sloane, finding out they were pregnant after a night of drinks. Better Daddy picks up right before this scene.

I found Better Daddy to be funny and swoony. I love Sloane's banter and how Sully is out to prove to his wife that he never stopped loving her. I love how Sully remembers so many small details that even Sloane herself either had forgotten or is surprised Sully knew. I was rooting for this couple from book 1 and they delivered. Their passion was hot. The love they felt for each other was so intense and sexy, that I crave more!

Sloane's assistant, Julius, and his banter with Sully was hilarous. Also, I loved seeing Madame Esmeralda again. She's a hoot. That cliffhanger for the next book has me biting at the bit too for Brian! It's his turn to shine! But honestly, I'm going to be sad when their year in New Jersey is up and they all move back to New York. I kinda want them all to continue living together forever hahaha

"Better Daddy" by Brittanee Nicole and Jenni Bara is the 2nd book in the " Dad Coms" series.
Even if this could be read as a standalone, I would recommend reading "Who's Your Daddy" first.

I received an e-ARC from the authors.
Opinions from this review are completely my own.

After reading "Who's Your Daddy" last month, I wanted to immediately read about Sully and Sloane.

What you can expect:
⦁ marriage in trouble
⦁ surprise pregnancy
⦁ forced proximity
⦁ second chance romance
⦁ groveling
⦁ spice

Sully and Sloane were together since they were 22 (just like me and my husband) and he became more absent in the last years.
After Sloane asked him for a divorce he is determined to change and get her back.
A surprise pregnancy gives them the opportunity to try and solve their issues.

I liked Sloane a lot because she is such a relatable character. She put her carrier on hold after T.J. was born and she did not manage to reach her potential.
Sully is so in love with her, but he took her for granted and almost lost her.
I liked all the little thinks he did for her after she got pregnant and how he treated her.
He worked on becoming a better daddy and a better husband.

It was nice to see that they still had so much chemistry and love for each other after so many years.
But all they needed was to communicate more and better.

I cannot wait to read "Bonus Daddy" because Brian deserves a happy ending too.

A second chance marriage trope with the whole Dad Coms Jersey crew, plus an accidental pregnancy? Yes, this was phenomenal!

Sully and Sloane have been on the outs, with Sully a broody, workaholic mess, and Sloane so fed up about her marriage that she files for divorce. However, their chemistry is always fire, and one drunken night leaves her tied to that run down office building with the whole gang, as she becomes "the incubator."

This was written so well, and was so relatable. You can get so comfortable in a marriage that you lose sight of the importance of your spouse, and Sloane showed that you always need to remember what you deserve. And Sully, realizing his past mistakes, and how "it's always been you", is just perfection.

This series is so quirky, with a psychic who nails it every time, sleep-stripping, so many Cal-isms, and a giant cat named Dammit. It will keep you laughing from start to finish, all while hitting all those emotions from Sully and Sloane as they find their way back to each other.

This is Book 2 in The Dadcoms Series. i have enjoyed reading the first two books in the series. I am eager to read the third and final book.

Can this marriage be saved? Sully and Sloane are lawyers who met in law school. They are married with a six year old son. Sloane feels Sully takes her for granted and has filed for divorce. She also has taken a job with a competing law firm. After the two have a night of passion a month ago, Sloane is now pregnant with the child of her soon to be ex husband.

This complicated love story includes moments of humor.

I liked how Sully worked hard to save his marriage and show Sloane that he can be a better husband and father. This story highlights the struggles woman face as they try to have a career, a marriage, and a family. Can women have it all?

“I’m glad you want to be a better daddy, but I also need you to be a better partner. My partner. My husband. Be my husband, Sully. Show me I’m yours.”

Book 2 picks up right where “Who’s Your Daddy” left off, with Sully finding out he is going to be a father again.

Sully Murphy and Sloane Murphy have been married for 15 years but are currently separated because it’s time that Sloane prioritizes herself for once. But when they discover that their one reckless night is least to so much more they both take the opportunity to find what they lost.

“I will claw my way back to you if that’s what it takes. Please, sweetheart, just tell me you’ll let me try.”

I enjoyed seeing these two comeback together, being the there for so long they started to take each other for granted but it was time to change that.

The Murphy and Machon crew is so much fun! I am truly loving this series.

🔥: “Stop being so careful with me. You own me, sweetheart. Act like it.”
