A legendary demon, now fluffy and furious. A veterinarian convinced I need saving.
Imagine being a Duke of Hell—terrifying, powerful, deeply respected—and then getting cursed into the body of an oversized, fluffy black cat with horns, useless wings, and a hiss that somehow earns you chin scratches.
That’s my life now. Morax, reduced to Finn’s pampered “rescue” pet. My threats are dismissed as adorable. My rage? Met with treats and belly rubs, which I secretly... don't hate.
Finn is infuriatingly kind, blind to every hint of darkness I throw his way. No matter how I plot or glare, he just sees a creature in need of love. But when his ridiculous goodness finally shatters my curse and my true power returns, everything changes.
Now the tables have turned.
I am free, formidable, and absolutely intent on claiming the mortal who saved me. But seducing Finn isn’t as simple as conjuring fire or snapping my fingers.
No, wooing this stubborn human will take grand gestures, a touch of terror, and—if I’m honest—a heart that’s grown far too fond of purring at his side.
Callie is a romance author who believes every love story deserves a happy ending — and a little heat along the way. Known for her lighthearted, swoony, and steamy novels, she delights in creating characters who make readers laugh, blush, and believe in love. When she’s not writing, Callie can be found hunting for the perfect vintage teacup, baking wildly over-decorated cupcakes, and choreographing impromptu kitchen dance parties to 80s pop hits. She lives with an ever-growing collection of romance paperbacks, a mischievous cat named Biscuit, and a firm conviction that love — like sprinkles — makes everything better.
Dnf- started reading another book by this author and thought it was cute, but when I went to look at the authors other books, some of the covers looked suspiciously like they were done by ai. Add in that there’s no cover credit in this book, author has no social media presence or website, puts out a book a month and uses Virtual Voice for the audiobooks, I am definitely dnfing.
Eta: I’m not saying this cover is AI- I’m just saying there’s enough here to make me wonder about their stance on using ai, especially if they’re using virtual voice.
Highly amusing! What fun to see Morax, a duke of Hell turned into a kitty. When he attempts to show his displeasure at being "rescued" by biting off the friendly vet's fingers, he winds up booping Finn's hand instead. Of course Finn is enchanted, and so was I. Recommended!
Such a short, cute read. I really enjoyed it :)! I do wish it was a bit longer and expanded on the long-termness of their relationship but other than that, it was good.
Here's Callie Colby's "His Infernal Purr." It's the second book in her Hotter Than Hell series.

This book was fucking adorable. What's better than a duke of hell being turned into a black cat? All of his cursing and plotting (in cat form), but all anyone heard was meows?? It's just so fitting! Plus the purring?! Yes, yes, yes. It was all so perfect. Perfect for Morax. Perfect for Finn. Perfect for them and their unconventional HEA.
The demon being 7 feet oh my shiz Fin the human in this story kept calling the demon a cat and I kept laughing I love it
And the demon being naked and saying it’s big I was LIKE WOAHHHH😂
Such a cute read, I really enjoyed this book especially after I loved the first book and this was just as good. Very short but really good throughout.
I laughed, I was also kinda kicking my feet like a little kid
How the demon was saying he didn’t know he could be with a human and feel things was like ahh and I thought their relationship was so freaking cute i can’t. I love how morax learns to love and everything through being with Finn, they both learn from each others company and I think that’s what really struck with me. How he didn’t know but wasn’t as scared to learn and get what it was. And with the demon roommate aspect again I love thissssssss!!
I love how observant Mr demon (Morax) was and how he cared and very kind even though he was a demon. A hot one in fact
“I want to make him feel things he’s never felt before. “Perhaps being cursed was the best thing that ever happened to me.” I simply melted at this part like ahhhh get itttt kings I love these men. Demon and human ahhh
“Yes?” “I’m really glad Valefar cursed you into a fluffy cat and I found you in that alley.” I stroke his hair gently, marveling at the strange turn my existence has taken. “As am I, Finn Hughes. As am I.” My other favorite part 😭😭
His Infernal Purr is one of those rare stories that manages to be both hilarious and heart-melting at the same time. I mean a terrifying demon lord trapped in the body of a fluffy black cat ?? Just the premise had me grinning before I even started reading, and Callie Colby delivered every bit of the fun and charm that setup promised. The banter is sharp and yet there’s real tenderness underneath all the chaos. Finn is such a sweet, grounded character, and watching the proud, grumpy demon slowly soften around him was just heartwarming
If you love cozy, witty, and wonderfully romantic books this one is perfect for you!!
I find it really hard to read romances with veterinarians because of where I work, but this one didn't bother me too much. The part where he does emergency surgery on a raccoon isn't really something that a regular vet would do (wildlife is usually left to wildlife preservation and rescue centers), but I'm going to let it slide.
The idea of having a demon as the billing manager is brilliant, though. Getting people to come pay their vet bills is hard sometimes. That's why so few vets do any sort of billing nowadays.
I'm not usually into monster/sci-fi/out of this world stuff but every once in a while something a bit different pops up and becomes irresistible, hence this little gem. For a Duke of Hell Morax can be terrifying one minute and then sweet a heck the next, but he's stuck on mild, kind hearted Finn. A very enjoyable read, at times amusing and then quite intense with an intense battle near the end.
Loved the single point of view in this book. Enjoyed the demon humor. It tickled me. Finn was adorable. Sweet but strong and unflappable. I really enjoyed the epilogue. It is often the place where I can say goodbye to good characters while knowing their future is gonna be great. Great read. My 1st for this Author but won't be my last.
I LOVE A GOOD “he’s an animal first/human thinks pet is pet but turns out to be some sort of magical being”. Morax and Finn are funny—I love the contrast at first between grumpy somewhat sunshine but then Morax became like a soft protector to Finn and it was cute. I wish though he shifted back into the cat at some point because those scenes were cute.
An unexpected storyline, with the mundane and paranormal blended into a single reality. Interesting characters, good development, and a plot which handles all aspects of the relationship. Ends on a positive note.
Morax was honestly hilarious in his cat form! His indignation was thoroughly entertaining, don’t get me wrong I also liked him when he was his true form but the cat honey the cat too good!
OMG I loved this one so much! Morax was so funny and I died over him trapped as a cat, being taken care of by Finn and how sweet and loving Finn was and how Morax kept having to remind himself that he wasn't enjoying his time with the human. I died over Finn's selfless actions leading to Morax being returned to his demon form and how Morax chose to stay with Finn. I loved how he started helping out in the vet clinic and how cute and sweet the two of them were together! I loved how Morax fought his mortal enemy for Finn and chose to stay in the human world with him and leave his domain in hell behind. This was so much fun, and I loved these two so dang much!
2.5⭐️ I thought that this was a cute short paranormal romance book. Give me a book where the love interest is a big and bad scary monster who is a simp for the main character. A scene where the love interest tries to court the main character is probably one of my favorite niche tropes in books.
