She woke the monster meant to kill her. Now they’re bound—body, soul, and fate.
Feng shui consultant Meilin Chen thought supernatural deaths were just part of her job in modern Shanghai. But when her blood awakens Kaiden Zhao, a five-hundred-year-old Shadow Guardian cursed to kill her bloodline, everything changes.
Instead of ending her life, the curse binds them together. They can’t separate more than a hundred yards without agony. He’s a monster who feeds on qi to survive. She’s the last Phoenix descendant, destined to burn out if she gives too much. Every kiss drains her life force. Every separation tears his soul apart. And breaking the bond could unleash an ancient evil waiting behind the Celestial Gate.
Hunted through Shanghai’s neon-lit streets by corrupted guardians, Meilin discovers the bond isn’t just a curse—it’s a key. Master Xu, an immortal sorcerer, orchestrated their tether to rewrite the laws of life and death. To stop him, Meilin and Kaiden must embrace the very connection that could destroy them, and transform hunger into salvation before the world falls into eternal shadow.

Shadow Bound had an extremely intriguing description, which is what led me to reading it. The concept was quite enthralling, but I feel like the delivery wasn't all there. It had wonderful potential. The plot felt a bit repetitive in nature for me. While I wish I could give the story a higher rating, there just wasn't enough of a plot for me to do so. I enjoy the fated mates aspect. I just really wanted more information.
I wasn’t too sure what to expect. This isn't typically what I like to read but I was soooo pleasantly surprised! From the get go the storyline captivated me and held my attention. The pace it perfect, at no point did I feel like it was too fast or too slow.

The first time I read the book's description, it seemed like it would be a different/interesting story. But unfortunately, it all happened so quickly, I couldn't understand it.
