Erin Scott reads and writes about love and desire, but she has never experienced either. Believing in them? Not even a little.
Then one look at Rome Moreland changes everything she thought she knew about wanting.

Three months later, he’s in Harbor Hill for a year to oversee a build, and from the moment they cross paths again, the pull between them is both dangerous and sweet.

So they make a deal. He’ll teach her about sex, and she’ll learn to let go.

The rules are no feelings, no promises, no lines crossed.

But lessons have a way of becoming something else.

Because Rome’s control starts to crack, and Erin’s curiosity becomes something far more than desire.

What began as wanting turns into craving something deeper, something real — each other, a family, a future neither believed in.

2.5 stars!

read: 1/8/26 - 1/9/26

i was very conflicted on what to give this book due to the beginning starting so strong but then slowly becoming extremely aggravating and tedious to read. i wasn't a fan of the mmc, Rome, i understand his childhood baggage but please, why are we controlling your 22 year old sister? and for that long? he was just mediocre. i did like the fmc, Erin, though, i loved how she stood up for herself and the people around her even if it meant standing against Rome.

also, these characters conversed so properly? 😭 it would be how you would talk to a professor or a job interviewer; their conversations were so unrealistic at times that it made me visibly cringe.

overall, a cute-ish book set in a precious small town 🧸💚

thank you to love notes pr for the ARC in exchange for an honest review 💌.

This is book number 2 in the Harbor Hill series, and it can be read as a standalone.
The backdrop for this story is a small town where everybody knows one another and gossip is a popular pastime. The theme of found family is strong, and those characters return from the previous book. The female main character is Erin who is the town’s beloved flower shop owner. She is an aspiring romance author who has never had sex. When she is with her best friends Poppy and Ramsey, she meets an architect, Rome Moreland, who is designing their home. When Rome and Erin meet, sparks literally ignite for both of them. They each have had challenging childhoods and carry relationship issues because of it. Rome is aloof and needs control and order in his life; Erin is confident, warm, and more spontaneous.

They decide to enter an agreement where Rome teaches Erin about sex and intimacy with the expectation that no lasting relationship will form. The sexual “lessons” with these two are HOT and filled with longing and craving – hence the name of the book. During the time the lessons take place, both are learning from each other.

There are some wonderful quotes in the book, my two favorites:
From Erin, “I looked… brighter. Not prettier, just more me. The me who’d finally stopped wanting and actually did something about it.”
From Rome, “Any man you let close should know what to do when you’re not at your best. Not just when it’s easy.”

I enjoyed this story and I am glad to see that Rome’s sister Lily gets her own story called “Burn” to be published in 2026.

✨ ARC Review ✨
⭐️⭐️⭐️½

First off, thank you to the author for the ARC opportunity. This book definitely pulled me in early on, and I found myself really enjoying the premise and overall vibe of the story. The writing was engaging, and there were moments that genuinely had me hooked and emotionally invested.

That said, the relationship between the FMC and MMC was a bit of a rollercoaster for me—and not always in the best way. Their dynamic often felt like one step forward and ten steps back, which made it hard to fully settle into rooting for them as a couple. I love tension and conflict, but after a while it started to feel repetitive instead of progressive.

I also had a hard time connecting with the FMC at times. She felt very nonchalant about both her life circumstances and what was happening in the relationship, especially considering how high the stakes were. I kept wanting a bit more emotional depth or urgency from her reactions to really ground the story.

The biggest struggle for me was the ending. The pacing shifted quickly, and the story felt rushed compared to the strong setup at the beginning. It also seemed to veer slightly away from the original direction, and some character choices didn’t quite line up with how they were introduced earlier on. I honestly think the ending would have hit much harder if it had been given more room to breathe.

Overall, there’s a lot of potential here, and I truly enjoyed many parts of this book. With a more consistent relationship arc and a less rushed conclusion, this story could be even stronger. I’m glad I got to read it early and I’m excited to see what the author does next.

This was a slog to get through. This story had a good enough premise, but it was very poorly executed. The couple had zero chemistry, and honestly barely had any dialogue outside of the bedroom. Rome basically got to dictate everything and Erin was like yeah okay sure! Even when a particular boundary went up, he just blew right through that.

The writing in this book though is what really made this an unpleasant read. Almost every time a “don’t, won’t, can’t, I’m” came up, she would write “do not, will not, cannot, etc” and it drove me UP A WALL! Here’s just one of many examples: “Do not ask me,” I said. “If you do not ask, I do not have to answer.”

In the acknowledgments the author talks about how she used criticisms of the first book and tried to implement them into this book, and I appreciate that! I hope she will continue to do so.

Because Rome’s control starts to crack, and Erin’s curiosity becomes something far more than desire.

What began as wanting turns into craving something deeper, something real — each other, a family, a future neither believed in.

Tropes: Found family, Writer and virgin FMC, Teach Me, Instant attraction, Open Door Spice, Introverted Alpha QB x Party Girl Mafia Princess, Opposites Attract, University Romance, He Falls First, Forced proximity, Girl gang, It's Always Been You, Mr. Grumpy x Ms. Sunshine, Virgin Teacher, Small town, Writer FMC, Builder MMC, Instant Connection/Chemistry, Rules are: No Feelings/Promises/Lines Crossed, Control Cracks, Curiosity becomes More, Turns into Craving/Real, Family.

Crave is the 2nd book in the Harbor Hill Series by Romy Hale.

This is the first book by Romy Hale that I have ever read and I jumped into this book without reading the first book in this series. But, having read this book, I feel as though each book could be read as a standalone although I am sure the story would be more well rounded and fuller if you were to read this series in order.

I fell in love with Erin and Rome. They had this wonderful instant attraction to one another, and nobody is honestly more surprised about this connection then Erin herself about this spark and connection as she is still a virgin and she has never felt this kind of spark, attraction or chemistry with anyone else in her entire life. She had read about it, she’s even written about it, but she never dreamed that she’d actually find it for herself.

Rome quickly learns of Erin’s inexperience and he reluctantly agrees to teach her but he sets out some clear boundaries including: there will be no feelings, they will make no promises to one another, and there will be no lines crossed. Sexual tension sizzles and their spicy lessons quickly become more of a craving as both Rome and Erin fall deeper and deeper into their agreement and the lines they both agreed never to cross start to blur. And even though it was supposed to be Rome teaching Erin, it appears that Erin is in fact teaching Rome more then he could have ever imagine possible.

I found that I really enjoyed Romy’s writing and she did a phenomenal job in writing the spicy scenes. And the pacing was really well done. Now I am excited to go back and read “Surrender” the first book in this series and I am excited to read book 3 when it comes out.

I highly recommend this book. It’s really a highly enjoyable read and I am sure you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.

I love the idea for this book, the experienced MMC teaching the inexperienced FMC in a situationship type vibe.

The main characters definitely had chemistry and I was hooked from the get go and felt like I needed to read on to see what would happen.

However, I did feel confused in places on how the characters felt about each other and what they wanted. I also felt the book could’ve been shorter as the majority of the plot was just about them and their dynamic.

I also didn’t like how the MMC felt quite controlling especially over his sister. I’m glad there is a backstory here as it made the characters feel more well rounded but it did become aggravating especially seeing the FMC being dragged into this.

I feel the conflicts also could’ve been dealt with in a less toxic way, less just “we’re okay again, I forgive you” and a slower build and more genuine practical forgiveness. I feel this would’ve been more realistic. And seeing as the rest of the plot was fairly slow and spread out I felt the ending could’ve been less rushed.

I really like the FMC and how witty and quick she is. She definitely keeps the MMC on his toes, especially in conflicts which I love. I also love the side characters, I felt these were really well developed and were a great addition to the story.

I feel it will be easy for the author to write more based on how well set up the characters and dynamics are now. I would like to see what happens next in this series.

Overall I gave the book 3.75 ⭐️s because although the spice was good, I enjoyed most of the plot and there was chemistry between the characters, I did also find parts of the story harder to follow and felt it could’ve been wrapped up quicker.

Crave is an instant attraction, found family, virgin fmc, teach me, open door spice romance.

I liked this story. Even though it is very spicy story there is more to it. When you look pass the spice it is actually an emotional story. Main female character is Erin, is a likeable and relatable. She writes and reads about love and desire but it’s something that she hasn’t experience. Nor does Erin believe in them either. Then there is the main male character Rome. He is the type of kind that likes to have control and order in his life. He has this grumpy stubborn exterior.
The moment this two get together you can feel the chemistry coming off the page. Rome is reluctant at first to teach Erin but the more time they spend together the lessons become more than just about sex. It was interesting watching the develop of Erin and Rome relationship and seeing it grow throughout the story.

I thought the pace of the story was good. I also thought the writing was good. You really come hooked on the story while reading it and that has to do with the writing. As far the spicy scenes there is a lot to spice but it’s not over the top or cheesy. It also doesn’t take away from the story.

Overall, Crave is good read. The main characters are good. The writing it good that draws you into the story and keeps you hooked all the way to the end.

ARC Review

This book is a standalone in an interconnected small-town romance series, I haven’t read the first book however after this (the second) I will be adding it to the TBR! I enjoyed the writing style, character development and descriptive language the author used for the location settings and the spice scenes.

I was pleasantly surprised with how the main tropes in this story were thought out and they didn’t come across as cringy, which can so often be the case when reading about virgins in their late 20s and broody, well experienced men.

Something I noted as a downfall, the premise of the list made by Erin for "research" was to help her better the spice scenes in the novel she’s writing as a side project. This seemed only touched on a few times and in the end I didn’t note anything to come of it? I may have missed something but that felt a little flat and I would’ve liked to explore the elements of her writing a novel more.
The ending also felt rushed for me, it felt like it entirely changed pace in the last 40 pages which didn’t feel seamless.

All in all I do recommend this book for those who love small-town romance with plenty of spice and found family moments!

Oh sweet baby jesus. This book put me through it. Rome was so freaking infuriating that you wanted to hate him but at the same time, swoon. Its really a love and hate relationship. I loved this book. Did i read the first book, Surrender? No. Am i? Absofreakinglutely. Sign. Me. Up. I do feel some of their stoey was kinda rushed towards the end. Like we jumped from September to December. Maam. I wanted to experience Halloween in Harbor Hill! Especially since it was compared to Stars Hallow. Favorite show of mine. If you know, you know. I dont normally take the time to read the acknowledgements at the end of a book, shame on me i know. But she wrote how she had disagreements with Rome while writing his story and i 10000 percent believe that. Because writing a characters story, they kindof become a little real to you for a while. And i had disagreements with him just reading it! 🤣 Erin was just so amazing. I loved her story and her journey. She didnt infuriate me as much. She is someone i wish i could have been. I can't wait to read Lily and Cal's story. Im super curious about their interactions that i read.

Crave by Romy Hale was such a pleasant surprise for me.

The main character is a romance author — including spicy romance — which I absolutely loved from the start. However, there’s a twist: at 27 years old, she’s still a virgin. She writes about passion and intimacy without having experienced it herself, simply because she’s never met someone who truly made her want to take that step.

Everything changes when she meets a man she feels an immediate and intense attraction to. And since she’s bold, outspoken, and not the least bit shy, she decides to be completely honest with him about her situation and asks if he would be willing to help her change it.

The romance develops beautifully, and the male protagonist is wonderful — gentle, caring, respectful, and very charming. The spicy scenes are incredibly well done: intense, emotional, and perfectly aligned with the growth of their connection.

Romy Hale’s writing style is light, engaging, and easy to read. Even though I took my time with this book due to work, it kept pulling me in. Overall, Crave exceeded my expectations, and I truly enjoyed it. A great read for romance lovers looking for something fun, heartfelt, and steamy.

I have read Book 1 in the series 'Surrender', in my opinion these could be read as standalones but I would recommend reading both for the full story!
📚 Found family
📚 Writer and virgin FMC
📚 Teach me
📚 Instant attraction
📚 Open door spice
Erin and Rome have an instant attraction to each other, nobody is more surprised that virgin Erin who hasnt felt this kind of spark before. She reads about this kind of attraction, even writes about it but it wont ever happen to her will it?
When Rome learns of Erin's inexperience, he reluctantly agrees to help her but with clear boundaries. Sexual tension and spicy lessons become a craving as the pair fall deeper into their agreement and lines start to blur. It seems that Erin starts teaching Rome more than he could ever imagine...
I enjoyed Romys writing and spice scenes 🔥 I much preferred the pacing in book 2 also and excited to read book 3!

Starting 2026 off AMAZINGLY with this book.

This book is the second book in the Harbor Hills series, but can be read as a standalone.

We follow Erin Scott and Rome Moreland as they work through their … interesting … relationship with one another.

This is by far one of the best slow burn romances I have ever read. Reading as the characters progress their love story from something as simple as a shared moment to how they end up was fantastic to read about and written perfectly by Romy Hale.

Very few books have ever made me cry and by the end of this one, I was on the brink of tears.

All the promises Romy Hale makes about this book are delivered and I feel so fortunate to have been chosen as an ARC reader for such a wonderful book.

What to expect:
🏡 Small Town Romance
🤭 Control vs Surrender
🥰 Guarded Architect x Chaotic Romantic
🔥 Slow Burn
😇 Virgin - but not innocent heroine
💋 He Teaches Her… and then some
🧡 Found Family

My real rating: 3.5⭐️

This was a very nice read, I liked it better than the first book, probably because I related to the FMC way more than I did with Poppy.

Let’s start with Erin. I love her and I relate so hard with her. Her disposition to let everyone in and try to protect everyone from heartbreak was like looking in the mirror. I love her sweetness, her openness and her ability to remain positive even in her darkest moments.

As far as their relationship and dynamic, I loved it. I think they worked so well together when they were on the same page. They understand each other so deeply, I felt their obsession with each other when they were together. However, and a BIG however, I do think that we couldn’t really see (read) Rome’s love through a lot of his actions vs the description of his obsession. That’s what I felt was missing for the book to be this huge love that transcended the pages and got stuck in your head.

Overall, I really liked the story (I cried at the end) and I think some lessons from Erin will stay with me for a long time.

Favorite quote: “The world’s softer when you got someone beside you”.

Crave introduces us to Erin and Rome.
Erin is a romance writer who has never actually experienced the love or desire she writes about, spending most of her time running a floral shop in her small town. Rome is a guarded architect who struggles to let go of control. When their paths cross, there's an instant spark—one neither of them is quite ready for that turns into lessons neither of them will ever forget.

The tension and banter throughout the story had me feeling like I was watching a show or movie I couldn't get enough of. The friendships are strong, the chemistry is undeniable, and the spice is definitely spicy. Erin may have needed Rome to teach her all things spicy, but Rome needed her just as much in other ways. I fell in love with Erin and Rome.

thank you to love notes pr and romy hale for the arc!

i realllyyyy enjoyed this book! erin was a super relatable character and rome was our typical broody mmc who turns out to be a big softie when it comes to certain people.

erin and rome enter an agreement where he teaches her about sex/intamacy and she learns to let go, no feelings and no promises. obviiii this is not the case. i really enjoyed the writing in this, i felt myself wanting to know more about each character. i didn't realise this was actually book 2 in a series, but can be read as a standalone. i loved how honest these characters were with each other and there was no judgement from either parties, i loved the found family aspect, the small town vibes and playful side characters.

Thank you to LoveNotesPR for my ARC!

I went into this book expecting an angsty, slow burn romance, and while I did enjoy it, it at times missed the mark.

The chemistry between the main characters was the strongest part. I liked that their connection developed gradually and that the small town setting added a cosy, familiar feel. The emotional tension worked well at times and kept me turning the pages.

However, the story felt quite predictable, and many of the tropes were ones I’ve seen often in this genre. I found the middle section dragged a little, and I wanted more depth from the characters, especially when it came to their emotional struggles.

Overall, Crave is an enjoyable, sweet and easy romance. A good pick for fans of slow burn stories who don’t mind familiar territory.

This book felt like such a vibe, even just from the first chapter. I absolutely need to go back and read the first book of the series now.

When outgoing, confident Erin meets closed-off, nonchalant architect Rome… what more harm could be done if she just wants a little more experience? Can you really blame a girl?

Rome surprised me in the best way, it was so nice to see him and Erin learn from one another, in multiple ways, if you know what I mean. I cant wait to read the next book!

Thank you Love Notes PR for an ARC of Crave by Romy Hale.

Even without reading the first book, I was quickly hooked. The book was binge-worthy, slow burn, emotional and set in a small town. Erin and Rome had great chemistry, and I loved watching Rome’s grumpy exterior slowly crack as he realized his feelings for Erin. Loved Erin’s character with her sassiness but at the same time showing her growth and vulnerability.

The story flowed smoothly and the found family was so sweet. I’m looking forward for Lily and Cal’s story. If you enjoy emotional, small-town romance, this one is worth the read.

Spicy, spicy, spicy is the best way to describe Crave in just one word. But when you dig a little deeper the emotions throughout this book will hook you and keep you reading all the way til the very end. Rome and Erin are easy to fall in love with, and easy to root for their happily ever after… even if one of them is constantly standing in their own way. This book was such a good read and perfect for anyone looking for a romance story full of emotions, a grumpy/chaos dynamic, opposites attract, instant attraction, with a slow burn pay off, full of spice, banter, and amazing characters then Crave is a must read!

this was an interesting read to day the least. Erin, never having had a sexual encounter. and Rome, who decided he'll teach her? a bit weird, but okay.
I did enjoy the sparks that flew between them. clearly aside from the lessons, they were both attracted to one another. i thought that was awesome. it helped that they had an actual connection.
I found both Erin and Rome to be a fun couple. the story itself was different, but i really liked it.
I thought it was sweet the way they came together. their ups and downs made this more believable. this is my first time reading this author and I will definitely be giving another book a try.

I really enjoyed this book even if I didn’t read the first in the series. Erin is inexperienced in the bedroom so who else to teach her then the grumpy architect Rome who is there for only a few months. But Erin has been one of my favorite characters I have read so far. Rome was so stubborn in his feelings for her but I’m glad he got out of his head to realize what he had with her. The side characters were great as well. It is also very spicy so if you don’t like that then maybe you won’t like it. I just really liked the story line and how the story flowed! Definitely recommend it!

Crave left me wanting more!

ARC "Crave" by Romy Hale left me wanting more with every chapter. I loved the main female character Erin's energy! The conversations between she and her best friend Poppy killed me!

The dialogue was well written as were the romantic scenes!

The colorful characters in town were a delight!

But the best part was the tension between Rome (male lead character) and Erin.

I could picture the little town and I wanted to be there too!

Five Stars for my first read of 2026!

I absolutely loved the pull toward Rome and how consistently that thread wove its way through the story. It gave everything such a strong sense of place and purpose, and I found myself really attached to that journey. The side characters felt perfectly chosen each one added depth and warmth without ever pulling focus away from the heart of the story.

What truly stood out to me, though, were the family dynamics. They felt so real and comforting, almost grounding, and they added an emotional richness that made the story linger with me long after I put the book down.

My only real critique is the ending and that comes from a place of love. It felt a bit rushed, not because it was poorly written, but because I wasn’t ready to let go. I wanted more time to sit in the aftermath, to breathe with the characters, and to fully soak in the conclusion of a story I had grown so attached to.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC for this book! I liked it a lot more than I anticipated, there were some random technical things that irritated me (a lot of "cannot" instead of using the contraction). however, the story of Erin and Rome was lovely. Off the charts chemistry. I wish Erin's author side had been explored more but genuinely enjoyed the story! The side characters definitely made the book and make me want to read Poppy and Ramsey's story!

I have so many thoughts and don't know how to formulate my response because of it. It felt well paced in most of the book and then felt extremely rushed in others. I enjoyed both the FMC and MMC however didn't give me the feeling that they came to a sufficient peak to become a couple. Felt like that the hurtful words said wouldn't be band-aided with a few sorrows and all forgiven afterwards. I cared more for the FMCs relationship with the MMC sibling than their relationship.
