For centuries, Róisín has dwelled in the shadowed heart of the Irish forests, a forest dwelling nymph bound to its moss-covered roots and whispered winds. Alongside her sisters, she has watched the world change, untouched by time — until Eoin, a craftsman with calloused hands and a gentle soul, who cannot resist the indulgence of her ethereal company in secret. His presence awakens something long-buried within longing, memory… and a desirous hunger.
SHE KNOWS THAT HE BELONGS TO HER AND NO ONE ELSE.
When Eoin reveals that his heart belongs to another, Róisín’s affection deepens into obsession, and fragments of her forgotten life begin to surface — glimpses of love, loss, and the blood-soaked truths that have left her tethered to the forest. As her grip on sanity — and what’s left of her humanity — slips, one thing becomes certain above all she will claim what is hers, no matter the cost.

I need more horror romance novellas in my life because this was EVERYTHING!!
Shot in the Dark is one of my favorite fantasy series, so when I found out there was going to be a novella I was super excited. This book combines Irish folklore, horror elements and all the feminine rage. The writing is stunning, and weaves a beautiful and haunting story about forbidden love between a mortal and a forest creature. I love stories with vivid imagery in a forest that comes to life and feasts on blood, and I thought the horror elements were done very well. Even a beginner into the genre will appreciate it. I finished this story in one sitting and it makes me want to go back and reread Shot in the Dark so I can experience everything all over again! This was amazing.
Hello, Ireland, hello forest, hello magic! Consumed, is something to get straight away! Soo wonderfully wicked!!! This short novella got me hooked, and I devoured it in a couple of hours. As a big Irish fan, my soul was so grateful—the myths and forests feel like a spooky, magical dream! 😍 I was rooting for Róisín (“little rose” in Irish), a forest nymph turned villain, the whole way. The authors wrote her so beautifully! And oh boy, was Róisín obsessed with Eoin ! Their age gap adds a cool twist, and her creepy past kept me curious. Not my usual cozy romance, but this Shot in the Dark horroromance is wickedly awesome, like a darker Throne of Glass with Aelin-level obsession. I’m hooked for more! 🖤
I received it as an ARC and this is my honest review.
I adore all things Irish, and an author with Dublin in her name was already destined to catch my attention. Add to that a book rooted in Irish folklore, and I was instantly sold—but if that alone doesn’t convince you, let me rant for a bit.
The way this book is written is nothing short of impeccable. Think beautiful poetry with a touch of old English—utterly divine, like language crafted for the soul. My heart felt at home with every word.
The worldbuilding is phenomenal. You feel the wind, hear the birds, taste the earth—it’s alive, immersive, and achingly real.
The folklore is spellbinding. It draws you in, keeps you tethered, and refuses to let go. It’s not light or fluffy—it has shadows, sharp edges, and a haunting depth that makes it all the more captivating.
The story of Eoin and Roisin will leave you breathless, tangled in longing, fear, heartache, and fleeting joy. Their moments of tenderness and pain become your own, leaving you both undone and yearning for more.
Even as a novella, this book is brimming with love and lore. It is beautiful, poetic, and utterly divine—like the gods themselves intended. A story that lingers long after the last page is turned, as eternal as the folklore it was born from.
I would recommend this book to anyone who listens, and honestly, it's a favorite
A mortal man named Eoin ventures into the forest outside his village not knowing his encounter with its enthralling spectral nymph would bind his fate forever. A blossoming love turns quickly into obsession and desire as Róisín, the forest bound nymph, refuses to let Eoin go.

When I seen these authors had another book (novella) coming out, I knew this was going to be an instant read for me. I was first introduced to these author’s through Shot In The Dark and that book had a hold on me. I didn’t even finish the book before I went on their etsy and ordered their books. When I seen they had a novella in the works in the world of Shot In The Dark it was added to my tbr list so quick. The entire time I sat and read this I was so enthralled and captivated. I read it all in one sitting.
The cover art is absolutely gorgeous. The artist deserves all the praise along with the gorgeous chapter art. I was enthralled and captivated by it and read it in one sitting.
Though the story is short sitting at 95 pages it still built the world beautifully and vividly. My only complaint about the book, as with most novellas I read and love is how short it is. I wish it was longer because I loved every second of it and I need more of these characters.
The story follows a man named Eoin who stumbles upon Róisín, a fae creature he’s always been told he should fear, and the relationship they form over the years where lines blur between friendship and desire. It feels very lore accurate to what I’ve read about fae creatures and this story does justice to the legends surrounding it.
I loved that our monster was female and we got her point of view of everything. When her heart broke, so did mine. When she felt victorious I was there rooting for her.
It served everything it promised it would and I’m in love.

Although the dawn was dark, she was stunningly visible, as through the moon itself shone through her.
“-you make me feel a storm inside me when I’m near you.”
He crushed his arms around me like he might be able to fuse us together—moonlight and sunlight colliding.
For him alone, I would gladly chain myself.
Love was an abomination. How could something that made me want to sing and screech with laughter now turn to poison in my chest.
⊹₊✧ T h o u g h t s W h i l e R e a d i n g ⊹₊✧
She craves more blood? Or him? Either way I’m sat.
My heart breaks for Róisín. It’s obvious they both desire each other but it’s pretty apparent he enjoys his mortal life.
I also can’t believe he asked to bring his fiancée there to see her after they had shared a kiss. And just assumed she’d be okay with it? That’s wild.
He gave Brianna the rose Róisín made for him? I’m fuming for my girl.
Chapter five was a whole lot of heartbreak. I feel like this story is going to end with me in tears. I really want Eoin and Róisín to end up together but a part of me thinks they probably won’t. It’s almost giving the dark version of the little mermaid. I just can’t get over the nerve of Eoin asking her if he could bring his lover to the forest to meet her.
Damn Róisín pulled a Snow White on Brianna. Hate to say it but I mean, Eoin was hers first.
When he finds out though he’s gonna hate her.
I mean he’s not wrong that she’s a monster for killing an innocent woman. But if Eoin hadn’t been so indecisive, but then again maybe he was seduced by whatever magic she had. I’m conflicted now.
Exactly. His own greed and infatuation. He had a hand in this too. She’s right. Never mind I’m not conflicted anymore. They’re both bad. He cheated on his fiancée so he doesn’t get a pass.
For someone distraught over their fiancée dying he sure moved on pretty quickly.
Wait…has she done this before with other human men? I mean, a whole lot of heartache could have been avoided if Eoin was honest with himself about how he felt about Róisín. But at the same time it left me wondering if there’s something about her that enchanted him and he was doomed the moment he met her.
That epilogue though. I want to know what happened. Bravo though, I read this in one sitting I was glued to my kindle. I’m ordering this from Etsy. Absolutely loved this.

These authors remain in my category of if they write it in reading it.
Was lucky to be given an ARC copy of this before it’s released and I very much enjoyed the gothic style romance vibes to it. Seemed very horror based mixed with fae and love. Enjoyable!
Now I had high hopes for this book, and it gave my hopes justice! The only bad part I can think of with this one is that its a novella - so its short!
Róisín is a wood nymph from the Irish folklore, and with wanting Eoin to stay by her side, she will do whatever it takes. Now this book starts off as a cutesy "forbidden romance"-novel, but as you read further, you can *feel* the ominous thoughts brewing in the subtext.
My first thoughts on Róisín, as a norwegian, is that she also reminded me a little of Huldra, a seductress with an enchanting voice wanting to lure men and keep them captive..
That being said, Mary Dublin and Anne Kendsley are now on my "auto-buy" authors list, and even though I have Consumed as an e-book, I can't wait for the physical copy!
this was a beautifully aesthetic book. it made my heart happy to see a different vibe in the same universe as Shot in the Dark. it’s a great fall read <3
First, thank you, Mary Dublin and Anne Kendsley for giving me an Arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
ENG Wow, I didn't think I would get into this book as much as I did. As always, the author's writing is extremely immersive, making you feel as if you are standing right there witnessing the whole thing. The characters were wonderful, with our FMC taking the cake. Róisín's arc is devastating, yet dark and fascinating. Her obsession, her lust, the overwhelming love driving her towards madness. She is definitely one of my fave characters in the Shot in The Dark Series. Eoin in my opinion got better in the second half of the story, but I did want to fight him more than once when seeing how he treated Róisín. Again, in the second half we get to see another side of him. At times, I believed I was being fooled or lied, the story is told through the perspective of Róisín, and she is...not the most reliable narrator lol that being said I was DRAWN to her and the story, trying to see beneath her words and thoughts. Was everything she said and perceived true or twisted to fit her obsession and the story she created in her mind? I totally recommend this novella, it is dark and mysterious as well as incredibly addictive, like a dark and twisted fairytale. The narration was AMAZING, and it left me even more excited to read Lured in the Crimson.
I want to add that you don't need to read the Shot in The Dark series (I mean you should) for you to understand and enjoy this book.
PS: not to bring IWTV into everything but these two gave me MAJOR Lestat/Louis vibes
ARC Review of Consumed Written by Mary Dublin & Anne Kendsley 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕 🌶️ 🌶️ 💀
Book Blurb: Taking place in the heart of Ireland, Consumed tells the haunting story of Roisin, a forest-dwelling nymph who has watched centuries pass untouched by time. She is the forest herself and the forest is her until she meets Eoin, a humble craftsman from a neighboring village to her forest his gentle soul awakens something long-buried in her: memory, longing, and a dangerous hunger. When Eoin reveals his heart belongs to another, Roisin’s love twists into obsession, and the blood-soaked truths of her past begin to unravel. As her humanity slips away, she becomes determined to claim what she believes is hers, no matter the cost.
My Thoughts: This novella absolutely floored me. It’s dark, atmospheric, and gorgeously written, with prose that feels as wild and untamed as the forest itself I caught myself writing almost every quote as if I was dancing through the story. I felt Roisin’s descent from yearning into obsession as it was my own its chilling and heartbreaking in equal measure, and the way her fragmented past is revealed kept me completely hooked. I was pleasantly suprised that being a novella, Consumed managed to feel lush and layered, delivering both a compelling horror romance and a deep sense of folklore and tragedy. I was on Roisin side the entire time we love a morally grey nymph.
I loved how Mary Dublin and Anne Kendsley captured that sharp edge where desire blurs into danger it made the story as beautiful as it was unsettling. Both authors definitely did their research and I was not disappointed. Consumed is a novella that lingers in your mind like a whisper through the trees, and I couldn’t put it down. Easily my favorite novella I’ve ever read.
I want to personally thank Anne and Mary for providing me an ARC! I truly devoured this novella and I appreciate the book box giveaway I will be reading and reviewing every book from you!

ARC Review. Thank you to the authors for granting me early access to this ARC. I’m sharing my honest thoughts voluntarily.
"Consumed" offers a haunting and atmospheric journey into Irish folklore, blending forest magic, tragedy, and a touch of romance. The concept of forest nymphs and the souls of those who harm the forest being claimed in return is beautifully imaginative and gave the story a unique, ethereal tone. Like in those amazing fantasy books, that's such a vibe, i've grasped it quickly! The setting itself was lush, mysterious, and otherworldly, it was one of the strongest elements of this novella, and I truly appreciated the creative vision behind it! It was beautifully crafted into my mind and that was truly lovely!
That said, I personally struggled to connect with the romantic arc. The emotional depth between the characters felt a bit muted and dry to me, and I found it hard to fully invest in their relationship. Some moments, especially involving the male lead’s actions and the heroine’s response, felt abrupt and lacked the emotional nuance I was hoping for. I was reallyyyyy hoping to see some hot feelings and spicy love, but it just was not there (for me). I understand this may be part of a larger story (probably the series?), and perhaps future installments will expand on these dynamics between these characters but for now it was just not enough to explain everything on 100 pages.
While the epilogue hinted at more to come, I was left with some lingering questions about the lore and character motivations and everything in general that left me confused a bit... Still, I believe readers who enjoy dark fantasy with mythological undertones and tragic beauty may find something compelling here! For sure!
This book wasn’t quite the romantic experience I expected, but it has a haunting charm that could resonate with the right audience.
A haunting novella that delves into the dark side of devotion, reading like a classic folk tale spun for a modern audience. The story follows Róisin (Rohsheen), a forest nymph bound to her ancient duties as a guardian of the woods. Centuries of solitude have etched an air of timelessness around her, but her ageless existence takes a perilous turn with the arrival of Eoin (Owen, Oh-in), a kind-hearted craftsman from the nearby village.
The initial encounter between Róisin and Eoin is painted with a delicate, almost old-fashioned brush. He seeks her company, and she is at once captivated, a sense of ownership taking root deep within her. However, the idyllic atmosphere shatters when Eoin reveals that his heart belongs to another. This is where the novella’s true power lies. Róisin’s affection curdles into a consuming obsession, and her connection to humanity—tenuous at best—begins to unravel. The forest, a character in its own right, seems to mirror her spiralling possessiveness, as the central theme becomes clear: the forest, and by extension Róisin, will collect what it desires
Mary Dublin & Anne Kendsley skilfully evokes the feel of an old-world fable, with a style that is both elegant and unsettling. The language is evocative, drawing you into a world where beauty and terror are intertwined. Consumed is a brief but powerful read that will leave you with a lingering sense of unease. It’s a tale of love turned monstrous, a stark reminder that some bonds are forged not in affection, but in the unyielding will to possess. If you enjoy dark, atmospheric stories that feel plucked from a forgotten age, this novella is a must-read!
Taken from the forest, returned to the forest. All is as it should be.
Yes, this is a romance—but not the kind you might expect. That’s the beauty of the Shot in the Dark Series: it always finds a way to surprise you. This novella is both soft and dark, carrying the same haunting atmosphere as a whisper behind you when you know you’re home alone.
At its core, it tells the story of a romance between a nymph and a mortal, following a unique and unconventional arc. What stood out to me the most, however, was the perspective: through Roisin’s eyes, you almost feel as if you can breathe the forest itself.
When I first started this series, I’ll admit I was skeptical—I’ve always found fae-centered fantasy a little too simpering for my taste. But this series changed my mind completely. I’ve fallen in love with both the novels and this novella, and I’m eager to read more about Sylvia, Jon, Clif, and now Roisin too.
I received an ARC of this book and am leaving this review voluntarily. My opinion was in no way influenced by receiving the ARC.
I was kindly sent an arc of this book by the authors which I would like to say thank you to them for sending this to me🥰
I did enjoy this little novella, I liked the world, the magical setting, the folklore and the plot but I think the thing that was bothering me wheel reading it was that the romance plot wasn’t that believable due to how short the book is. I feel like if the book was at least 200-300 pages long this would’ve been a 5 star read but because the book is under 100 pages I just didn’t feel that connected to the character and the romance.
I really enjoyed the parts we did get of the magical setting on how the main FMC is connected to the magical forest and how she effects it and it effects her and I would love to see more stories with that aspect involved.
Once again I did enjoy this book but I felt it could have more potential if it was longer that way we have more time with the characters, getting to know them and getting to watch their relationship grow more throughout the story.
I would recommend it if you like short stories with romance and action. I gave this 3⭐️ in the end.
This book Consumed releases September 16th 2025!! ✨
This novella had such a spine chilling atmosphere, one that you couldn't help but wander off into even knowing where the road would end. Roisin is that dark spirit your mother always warned you about. She's not dangerous because she has razor sharp teeth and grotesque features, she's dangerous because she is stunningly beautiful and seemingly devoid of judgment, like a predator stalking its prey slowly, toying with it. And make no mistake - she will. Eoin is the part of us that wants to taste that danger, to trust in its seeming kindness, and dip our hands in the cookie jar and gleefully smile when we think no one saw. He's warned, many times over, and ignores the signs anyway.
The story captures the fickle nature of the fae very well, not just in that they swing from one behavior to the next depending on their mood, but in the way they don't perceive reality - or any emotion - like we would. Can you really blame a predator if they act within their nature? And I loved how Eoin was not naive, he knew what he was doing was dangerous, but in normal human fashion couldn't let things lie.
I enjoyed this immensely and can't wait to dive into the main series. Please read it!
The title definitely fits this story! Love books that surprise me. This story was deliciously dark and addictive. And who doesn’t LOVE Irish lore?
After centuries of watching humans take and destroy, along comes a craftsman. He is not like the others of his kind. He brings me gifts crafted by using my brothers. I feel a little more transformed with his every visit. He calls me his littlest rose. He keeps me a secret. He should stay with me. He needs to stay in the forest with me so I can protect him. I must protect him from wraiths that would try to separate us. I must have him. He is mine. He belongs to me. No one will keeps us apart. Not even the wild hunt.
🥀 “You” meets “The Little Mermaid” (think the Grimm Brothers version) 🪓 If I can’t have him, no one can 🥀 Monster POV 🪓 Yearning with a dash of spice 🥀 Ancient Ireland 🪓 Dark forestcore 🥀 I’m not like the other girls-I’m worse
Thank you to the authors for this ARC for review consideration. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Short, Irish folklore inspired horror romance novella about a forest nymph and a human.
Beautifully written, kind of poetic story. Quick and easy to read, I couldn’t put this book down. Loved getting the “monster’s” POV. The jealousy, love and loss were all well written. The writing style made me feel like I was in the middle of the story with the characters and I really felt their feelings and emotions.
“You cannot hope to live if you take from the forest without blessing it. Take what you need. And nothing more.” “Have you brought me riddles or treasures today?” “You’re afraid of the forest, but I am the forest. You can see why it wounds me.” “Taken from the forest, returned to the forest. All is as it should be.” “Don’t you see? We are two souls entwined by the thread of destiny. The forest delivered you to me as a gift after all these years. A chance for me to love again—for both of us.”
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.
If you are looking for a short atmospheric horror romance steeped in Irish folklore, this is definitely the book for you. Craftsman Eoin wanders into the woods and encounters the forest spirit Róisín, who is portrayed in all her eerie inhuman ways, but at the same time with enough vulnerability that you can understand her actions even as they grow darker and darker. I have to say though that the same can't always be said about Eoin's motivations; he tends to vacillate throughout the story, going from fully enamored to put off by Róisín's other worldliness .
Still, even with the inconstant hero, I really did enjoy getting to read Róisín's story, and I can't wait to see her make an appearance in the next Shot in the Dark book!
This is a well-rounded piece of folk horror that, although very formulaic in plot, contains fascinating elements of fairy tale and presents a fresh take on traditional folklore. It also clearly fits in to the Shot in the Dark universe, and makes me crave more stories set before Cliff, Jon and Sylvia were even born.
For me, although it is set in the distant past, the story's themes seem to be directly relevant to our contemporary state. It engages with ideas of ownership, jealousy, stalking and misplaced blame. I found myself getting actually agitated with one of the characters at times, and yet when their fate was revealed I felt nothing but sympathy. These authors know how to get under your skin!
Overall, I recommend this to anyone who is interested in faerie lore, but discretion is advised as there is adult content in this novella (which the authors do mention in their disclaimer).
Consumed is a beautifully written novella that takes place in the same world as the Shot in the Dark series. As with everything that Dublin and Kendsley have written, the setting is gorgeous and though much slower paced than the main Shot in the Dark series, it is not lacking in action. The tension, pacing, and overall story telling is just as thrilling but with a lingering feeling of hauntedness. My only gripe is that the story is so short! I wish it were longer because there is so much at play and I love how they dove into Irish folklore.
If you’re looking for a quick read or want to give Dubin and Kendsley a try without feeling like you have to commit to a series, I highly recommend this novella. As we start nearing the colder and spookier months, this story is also the perfect one to kickstart those vibes.
Thank you to Mary Dublin and Anne Kendsley for the gifted ARC. All opinions are my own.
The cover art is what hooked me first, (it is SO BEAUTIFUL)and I applied for an ARC on the spot. When I was approved, I thought I was in for a quick sweet read, but it was so much more!
Right away I felt like I’d been dropped into the world—no struggling to connect, no slow start. I just sank in to this beautiful, lush and vibrant world that felt like I was there in it myself. For a novella, it never once felt rushed. I didn’t expect to care as much as I did, but by the time I finished, I was attached to Eoin and Roisin like I’d spent a whole novel with them.
Their story is equal parts tender and painful, and some moments really stayed with me. I closed the book feeling wrung out, a little sad, a little hopeful, and honestly wishing there were more pages.
Consumed might be short, but it hit harder than a lot of full-length novels I’ve read lately.
What a delightfully wicked little novella! I loved every moment of this story and devoured it way too quickly! I need more in this world because this snippet just whet my appetite!
I love the contradiction of who is good vs who is bad in this world and how it seems sort of up in the air during this story. Each character is wrong in their own way, but the unreliable nature of who our narrator is adds intrigue to the plot. I also really loved that Roísín had no memory of her past befote becoming part of the forest but that we got little snippets as the story progressed, and honestly, I wish we got even more! I would love to see the entire thing play out! Eoin was interesting because he felt so true and honest and pure, but he also had his secrets and his motivations.
All in all, this was a fantastic story, another great one on the books for Mary and Anne!
ARC Review for ‘Consumed’ by Mary Dublin and Anne Kendsley
I love every book this duo has written! And that also goes for this book! It is a shorter story/novella and for this storyline the length was just right, avoiding the going around in circles if it were longer. The pace was smooth and kept me engaged. I loved how they explained about the Irish folklore, it gave a sense of stepping back in a time where people really believed in the ‘scary’ tales. This made it feel like the characters might have once been ‘real’ cause who knows, was there ever a Eoin or Róisin (yes love the name spelling)
It’s a standalone, but I did NOT expect that ending!! Will the writer duo have something up their sleeves? Omg so exciting 🤭🤭 A solid 5/5⭐️ for this wonderful novella🥰🥰 #arc #arcreview #bookrecs #consumed #authorsdublinandkendsley @Authors Dublin and Kendsley
This story was haunting, lyrical, and unsettling in the best way. The lush writing and atmospheric weaving of Irish mythology pulled me in immediately. What starts out enchanting quickly spirals into obsession and madness, and I devoured it in a single day.
I was left wanting more of the shot in the dark universe. Dark, romantic, and beautifully eerie—Consumed will stick with me for a while.
If you’re looking for: 🌲 Irish mythology woven into horror romance 🔥 Obsessive, haunting love 🩸 Dark fairy-tale vibes 💔 A tragic, unsettling descent into madness 📖 A quick but immersive novella
Then you’ll want to sink into this story and let it consume you.
Thank you Mary Dublin and Anne Kendsley for the chance to read this early copy! ❤️
I absolutely loved this horror romance! I’ve always loved Irish folklore and jumped on the opportunity to ARC read Consumed.
This was a fantastic interpretation of the lore of the Bean Sídhe. I loved that this is told from the perspective of the villain, the beautiful and dangerous Roísín. Meeting Eoin, the kindly craftsman, affected her so deeply, fundamentally changing her and causing her to experience hints of humanity and all the pain and emotional turmoil that comes with it.
This was a beautifully written, dark, and absolutely spellbinding story full of love, lust, betrayal, and obsession. I only wish this novella was longer, I loved it so much. If you love folklore, and dark horror romance, this book is for you.
Thanks to Mary Dublin and Anne Kendsley for the opportunity to read and review their masterfully written standalone novella.
I absolutely loved Shot in the dark and was so excited for this novella to come out. I felt so honored to be granted access to the arc.
The authors painted this haunting novella with such a deep and rich atmosphere. Between Irish folklore, forest fairies and feminine rage, I was immersed in this story from start to finish.
My only struggle was that I could not quite resonate with the romance aspect of the story. While I adored the dynamic between them, I feel like I may have needed a little more insight to fully connect to their relationship.
That being said, I still finished the novella wishing for more! Overall I enjoyed my experience reading this and cannot wait to see what more these authors have to offer in the future!
The Forest will collect what it desires. And oh, how this story collected me.
Mary Dublin and Anne Kendsley crafted a hauntingly beautiful tale that is equal parts folklore, obsession, and tragedy. Consumed isn’t just a book—it’s an experience. The writing drips with atmosphere, pulling you into the shadowed Irish forests alongside Róisín, the nymph who will have you questioning where love ends and possession begins.
I was utterly captivated—spellbound by the lyrical prose, entranced by the tension, and completely undone by the descent into madness. It’s dark, it’s lush, it’s heartbreaking… and it’s unforgettable.
If you love your mythology steeped in obsession, longing, and a touch of blood-soaked truth, this one is for you. 🌑🌿
I was an ARC reader for this book and there may be spoilers ahead. I have to say I have loved everything these two have written. I really wasn't sure how I would feel about the plot because I usually don't like stories set in the past and I've never read a story from what I would consider the villain's perspective. I enjoyed it so much. The story drew me in very quickly and I loved reading from her perspective. Reading as their relationship simultaneously grows and devolves throughout the story is very interesting. I like both of the main characters, but surprisingly enough as much as I wanted them to have a good relationship I do find myself rooting for her to be taken down by hunters. I do hope we get more of this story somehow in future books.

I read this in a day and absolutely loveddd it. It is a short novella with 95 pages BUT the plot , the emotions everything is beyond the page count.
The details were very well written, easy to imagine scenarios and the emotions were depicted very well throughout. I felt everything niamh was feeling, the love, the pain everything was so real to me.
The fact that eoin dared to choose a mortal girl over my little roisin😑 get off the page boy, u r lucky i was'nt the niamh u treated so badly.
It's definitely a 5⭐ if u love HEAs, I'm more of a non-HEA girly and i kinda felt the story was going that way but it didn't and the HEA felt forced to me but that's totally personal.
I'm also kinda rooting for Desmond and Niamh 's enemies to lovers sequel 🫣
This was beautifully constructed. It was a quick read, but in that short time I was completely ( don't kill me) consumed by the world. Róisín was exactly what I would imagine a fae to be. Ethereal, cunning, and something definitely not human. Eoin and Róisíns growing relationship developed quite beautifully. The fear that floated between their relationship kept me on my toes. Both parties had no place with one another and their falling was madness that I couldn't look away from.
I hate so say it but I wanted sooooo much information on these two. ( I’ll take what I was give 🤭) the spice was lovely and chaotic like they were. I throughly enjoyed this small tale!
Mind you I'm not usually into horror romance but being these two ladies I couldn't help myself and tried for the ARC.
Best decision ever.
I need more of Róisín and her background story because it seems deeper that you can see at first. And I LOVE the way she changes her attitude the more her feelings are changing. We love a villain that's not afraid to be a villain 😌 take whatever she wants and deal later with the consequences. In my country he have a proverb that says something along the lines "better to ask for forgiveness than permission" and I think that fits Róisín perfectly.
The struggle of Eoin between what his heart wants and what are his deepest desires is really well written. And that's a tale as old as time and never fails to be amazing. That's the definition of being human I guess.
I think this is also my first time reading something Irish Fantasy related and I can't wait to keep digging into this world.
