Retired nurse and part-time spy Evelyn Chambers is sent to Morocco with a simple find out what happened to a fellow CIA agent who dropped off the grid without explanation. But nothing about the country is quiet. From the souks to desert camps and beyond, every stop on Evelyn’s search turns up more contradictions than clarity. The deeper she digs, the less the story makes sense, and the more she wonders if the missing agent went dark by choice.
Now every step raises more questions about her mission, her loyalties, and who else might be watching her. And in a country where secrets are currency and trust is in short supply, Evelyn must uncover the truth before she disappears, too.
From the time she was ten and tried to write her own detective series in the fashion of the Hardy Boys, Renée Pawlish has been developing her craft. Along with creative writing classes, Renée studied great writers like Dashiell Hammett, Rex Stout, Stephen King, Sue Grafton and many more. Once Renée graduated from college, she began her first novel. Now, all these years later, she has penned numerous books in a variety of genres.
Renée was born in California, but has lived most of her life in Colorado. When she's not hiking, cycling, or chasing ballplayers for autographs, she is writing mysteries and thrillers. She also has some middle grade novels waiting to be published.
Renée loves to travel and has visited numerous countries around the world. She has also spent many summer days at her parents' cabin in the hills outside of Boulder, which was the inspiration for the setting of Taylor Crossing in her novel Nephilim: Genesis of Evil.

Another in the Evelyn Chambers series. It just keeps getting better. This is not my normal genre of reading, but I have been enjoying this series more than I expected. The character of Evelyn is very well written and if you have read the series from the beginning you would have a very good idea of the person she is. Knowing the character, you see that, unlike some other mystery series, Evelyn never steps out of her established character. A great joy while reading. In this volume her adventures take Evelyn to Morocco on the northwestern coast of Africa. Here we get a combination of travelogue and adventure story as she travels around the country, tasting the local cuisine and admiring the sights. Ms. Pawlish has made a unique blend with these stories that take Evelyn to places around the world and puts her in situations that are well written and also educates us on the local customs, foods and scenic areas of various countries. This is a great addition to a great series. I recommend it to any reader. This is not your little old lady cozy mystery.
Missing in Morocco (The Evelyn Chambers Senior Spy Series Book 8), my seventy-fourth read from prolific author Renee Pawlish and the eighth involving Evelyn Chambers. Great character, great storyline, another must-read! As Pawlish expands her writings over five primary characters it has improved all five but Evelyn Chambers may be the surprise character, who'd have guessed that a senior citizen might anchor a great series! A Renee Pawlish book is like a visit with an old friend. “I received a complementary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to the next book in this series, The Venetian Canvas Caper (The Evelyn Chambers Senior Spy Series Book 9) as well as anything written by her. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Missing in Morocco is not only an engaging mystery read, it is also a delightful glimpse into what, for many, is an exotic locale.
Senior spy Evelyn Chambers has quickly become one of my favorite characters as she traverses the world for one of Americas alphabet agencies, helping it gather intelligence to stop dastardly events from happening. Laced with humor, quick thinking, determination and a wonderful acceptance of differences in culture, Evelyn is a force to be reckoned with, although as a senior, often dismissed as just another older person.
Although Missing in Morocco can be read as a stand alone, you would be missing out on wonderful cozy reads if you only read this one.
Renee Pawlish never disappoints! The 8th book in the Evelyn Chambers series is delightful. She is clever, spunky and daring in her search for a missing agent that she knows well. Like the other Pawlish books, the characters are depicted as real every day people who have very unpredictable and imaginative adventures in very realistic ways. The supporting cast are fully drawn and interesting. Her descriptions of food are amazing and the scenery almost appears to jump off the page. I highly recommend this series and all of the other series in author Pawlish's body of work. The books can stand alone, but it's more fun to read them in order.
Evelyn has been asked to go on another spy trip and she is up to her old antics. She handles the trip well and kept me guessing what direction the story would go. The excitement in the book kept me engrossed and had me reading till the end. I love how the characters were suspiciously entwined and how you had to guess who was the good guy and who wasn’t. Loved the way the book ends with you trying to guess what would happen next. I can’t wait till the next book to see what happens next!
This 8th installment from Renee Pawlish of the Evelyn Chambers senior spy series is sure to delight! Evelyn is sent to Morocco to find Bill Gardner, a CIA agent who seems to have fallen off the grid. Everywhere she turns, she encounters discerption. The book is filled with vivid details about the country, culture, and cuisine of Morocco. You feel as if you are right there with her. After reading this book, you will want to go back and catch the other books from this series.
Evelyn is sent to Morocco to see if she can find Bill, another agent and friend, who went dark on an assignment and is presumed missing. With Roger at home taking care of the cats, she is free to explore and see what information she can find about Bill's whereabouts. I love this fun Senior Spy adventure series! Pawlish does cozy quite well!
Missing in Morocco is the latest book in The Evelyn Chambers Senior Spy Series by Renee Pawlish. Evelyn’s new CIA mission sends her to Morocco to try to find an operative who has gone off the grid. Consider this read a combination of a travelogue and a spy novel. Will Evelyn be successful or will she go missing too. Grab a copy to follow all of Evelyn’s shenanigans.
Evelyn reaches the point where she doesn't know who to trust as she searches for a missing CIA agent. She puts herself in potential danger as she continues her search. Will she ever find him and will she ever be able to get back to the US safely?? Might be the best Evelyn book so far!
Evelyn is sent to Morocco to find the missing Bill Gardner! As always I enjoy the attention to detail of not only the locations but, the meal descriptions!
Missing in Morocco is another fascinating adventure for senior spy Evelyn Chambers. This one takes place in Morocco, a place I have never been except now in my imagination. The sights, sounds, and smells are described so vividly, I can almost imagine I am there. And now I know what riding a camel is like, too! I love Evelyn's courageous curiosity and the suspenseful uncertainty of each of her missions. Each one gets better and better! I also love the quirky neighbors and, of course, the animal antics. I can't wait to see where Evelyn goes next!
