Carter Miller-Cooper wants to start fresh and leaving Philadelphia to take her dream job in New York is the perfect way to do that. The only problem is, it’s hard to do that when she’s living with her sister’s best friend - Jax Michaels.
It’s all fun until Jax becomes Carter’s first “no-strings-attached” fling and Carter becomes Jax’s practice girlfriend. With the physical and the romantic side both fulfilled, they are, by all definitions, a couple. Except they aren’t. That wasn’t part of the plan, and Carter always follows a plan. It would be nice if her heart got that memo and stopped beating faster every time Jax was around her though.
As Carter’s feelings grow stronger, she can’t help but wonder if she’s simply blurring the lines between real and make believe or if there’s been something between her and Jax all along.
Erica Lee finished writing her first book, Dear Santa: I’m Gay, in December 2016. Erica currently lives in Pennsylvania with her wife, dog, chinchilla, and bunny. She spends her days working as an optometrist and her nights snuggled up on the couch with her furry family, binging on netflix or youtube.

Carter Miller-Cooper has just been offered her dream job, but it's in NYC. Her sister Olivia is moving back to Philadelphia to be with her fiance's. She offers her apartment, roommate and lease to Carter. She agrees to it, but doesn't know how Jax Michaels her sisters' best friend and roommate will take to the meek Carter. What a fabulous story of Carter finding herself with Jaxs' help and love. It was great catching up with the Miller-Cooper family! This is a FAVORITE!! Definitely worth more than 5 stars!
So fluffy and sweet! Lots of tension, but no angst. Erica Lee does that so well. She also writes these too-good-to-be-true characters in a way that doesn’t let me down. Those characters are just genuinely likable and that is Jax. We are never in Jax’s POV so you can only judge her by her actions. She was so stinking supportive of Carter. What I like about this book was that Carter doesn’t really change who she is, but she was always scared or felt less than to be who she truly was.
Ummm Jax and Carter's story is soooo hot, juicy, fun...I could go on but why don't you just read it for yourself?! I mean it's an Erica Lee novel and you can't go wrong there!
From the moment they briefly met in A Very Miller-Cooper Life I felt a connection with Carter and Jax. It was such a small moment in the book but my mind latched onto the possibility of seeing more of them.
I can be honest and say I bugged Erica Lee about this spin off. Constant messages and pleading. I’m sure I annoyed her but she eventually gave me what I was asking for.
And I loved every minute of reading this book. I got to read it as she wrote it. I got to see the characters grow in real time. It was a journey I loved taking.
I just feel a strong connection with Carter’s story with Jax maybe even more than what I’ve felt with Reagan and Charlie. I believe that everyone who loved the Anyone but Her series will love this spin off.
Song to listen to while reading: Feels Like Home by Chantal Kreviazuk
YES ITS ABOUT TIME THESE TWO GOT TOGETHER ❤️ 🙌. I want more from this Miller-Cooper universe. Definitely didnt see Carter's dom side coming to the light please is there a sequel in there somewhere.
Unfortunately, the writing quality didn’t meet my expectations. The prose felt repetitive and awkwardly structured, and the overall flow wasn’t smooth. At times it read more like fanfiction than a polished novel, which made it difficult for me.
I have read and loved the whole Anyone But Her series so of course I went with Anyone But Me as soon as available.
Carter, the awkward triplet that has lost faith in herself, gets this job in NYC where she finally gets a chance to see what a catch Jax is, her sister’s BFF. It is a bit unbelievable that Jax the player never tried something with Carter before this, but once it happens it is on fire and amazing!
This book is so much fun and I love so many quotes. The whole Jax tattoo is hilarious and add the one about how to avoid getting hot and heavy in an inappropriate time: How to avoid the temptation of wanting sex: A republican is president.” “Yep. Moment ruined. Good job.”
I love this book!!! I don’t leave comments with all books I read BUT I do leave them for books that I love! I highly recommend this book AND I love the fact this can be read as a stand alone book or as the logical next book after reading all about the Miller-Cooper’s. I read “Anyone but her” back in November and I’m going to read it all over again because I loved this particular story so so much! Btw if you liked this you’ll love all of Erica Lees books!
A Long Awaited Return To Love & The Miller-Cooper Family💕
Jax & Carter get their chance. Chemistry and flirtation from Jax has kept Carter guessing but self doubt and a broken heart has messed up her head. When Carter decides to leave home and take a job in NYC at the same time that Olivia decides to come home and move in with Quinton, Olivia suggests Carter takes over her lease with Jax. The relationship between them develops at a good clip but although we know how Jax feels about Carter, she is having a hard time believing someone as great and beautiful as Jax is interested in her. But Jax has a confidence about Olivia and knows how to get her attention. The story itself takes you through adventures with the two with humor, positivity and love. Well written Erica. The storytelling of the Miller-Cooper clan has entertained us since “Anyone But Her” and it looks like we have more to enjoy.
Though there were some fun tie-ins to the rest of the series (out on the roof; grandma embarrassing everybody in the room with her incorrect conclusions), I think this works fine as a standalone. It was a fun slow burn, until it wasn’t. Wasn’t slow any more, that is — after all that tension and build up, it kind of exploded, but in a good way.
It’s kind of comical how far Carter went to pull the wool over her own eyes, but also, I really enjoyed the banter between Jax and her. Offset by plenty of sweet (and later hot) moments as well. The random adventures were fun, such as the one immortalized on the cover. Speck and Annika and the whole Miller-Cooper clan were fun side characters. There was just a lot to like.
Carter Miller-Cooper has landed the tech job of ger dreams, but it's in New York. Luckily, her sister's bestie Jax needs a roommate, and she volunteers Carter.
Jax is much more outgoing than Carter, and jokes several times that Carter is hot. She, at first, doesn't take it seriously.
Carter admits at one point she feels she's boring so she and Jax make up aist if ten things she can do to fix that....
Cute, not too deep romance. You also don't have to have read her other books, but there's several nice tie ins. 3.5 out of 5
In my opinion, Erica Lee could go on forever writing books about the Miller-Cooper family. A whole slew of family members must be hard to write about but she does it so wonderfully. I am hoping that the next book is about a wedding between Jax and Carter. There are so many hilarious moments in this book and as always hot moments between two women. Keep up the great work because we need beautiful stories like yours in our lives.
I loved it! It was cute and witty and just a really great read. Erica Lee books are just too damn good; I want to be a character!
I only gave it a 3 star rating because: 1. At times it was really really hard to believe that these were 28 year olds. It gave me YA vibes . 2. While it was absolutely adorable it was also too cookie cutter. While I wouldn’t change a thing that’s just how I feel.
The chat at the end was amazing! And I hate group chats lol.
I think we all waited for this one to come out. I had to see what the triplets brought to the story. And I had a full belly laugh at grandma being grandma again. Thinking back on all the surprises and secrets she spilled in the rest of the series.
I am glad that the triplets has found their own love like their moms' has had for thirty years. It makes a persons heart leap for joy.
I have wanted Jax and Carter together since she first showed up. I think all your readers could see the chemistry between them. It was also nice to see that some members of the family never change. To find out what I mean read the book. I hope we get to read as the Triplets lives continue on.
Anyone But Me is a fun update on activities in the Miller-Cooper universe. In this installment, Carter finally notices her sister’s best friend Jax. There are many almost-a-date scenes and minimal drama. The women are surrounded by a familiar and very supportive secondary cast. This is an enjoyable read with the anticipated happily-ever-after conclusion.
Honestly. I don't think I've ever been disappointed with an Erica Lee novel, and when I realised the connection to a previous one, (cleverly done), I fell in love it with it even more! Great story telling, gorgeous love story!
If you are a sucker for a good old fashioned romance with a sprinkle of spice then this is definitely for you!
Such a great follow on from the previous Miller-Carter books. I’ll admit those previous books are my absolute favourite, often reread. This one can now be added to those. Now, if only we could convince the author to release them all in paperback! My shelf I’d definitely missing quite a few Erica Lee novels.
Nailed it! This is such an excellent story! I’ve read all the previous books in this series, this one is, hands down, my favorite. Go ahead and read it. You won’t be disappointed.
Very cute story. I think Jax is my new favorite sapphic character. Love Erica Lee’s stories. Whether they make me laugh out loud or cry buckets of tears, they always make me feel something.
