I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my review. I have really enjoyed this whole series, but this was my favorite book (and couple) in the series so far. I definitely recommend reading the books in order for full enjoyment. The main conflict of the story didn't appear until the very end, but Aurelia's character development and the building relationship between the MCs throughout the story made this book hard to put down. I will definitely be re-reading this again soon.
I have been looking forward to Fox and Aurelia’s story since reading A Holiday in Every Heart, and it did not disappoint. The angst and yearning is strong in this story. I think I have a new thing for growling now. Their sexual chemistry is off the charts! 🥵 Obsessed with how Fox would just growl at Aurelia and throw her over his shoulder when she was being a brat!!
We get to see how Aurelia and Fox’s story begins. Aurelia has been locked away in a tower for so long and longs for the adventures she reads about. Her dad is dead, so what is stopping her? She has always wanted to see the northern lights that show up in the sky every year on her birthday. When she tells Beatrix her plan, Beatrix drops some heavy information on her about her origins. Aurelia now has more reasons to visit Thermia and is determined to get there. Not even a pesky Fox can stop her.
We finally get Fox’s backstory and why he was sent to Dyaspora. He has many secrets and reasons for why he cannot give himself fully to Aurelia. He knows how dangerous Thermia is and will not allow Aurelia to go on this journey alone. They run into his past during this journey and he will do whatever it takes to keep her safe.
Did I mention that we get more Connell!! Freaking love that guy.
Favorite scene: When Aurelia asks Fox if he can shift into a wolf with wings. Had me dying. 😂
Thank you to the author for this gifted eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I love this series so much. They’ve all been so fun to read but this was by far my favorite. I love Aurelia and Fox so much. Ugh my heart. I really liked them both in the previous books but this sealed them as my favorite couple. The story was great too, loved all the characters (wells sans a few), loved getting to see the shifters more and learn about their dynamics. I will read all of the upcoming books and probably anything that Kate writes. Thank you so much for the ARC.
I am forever grateful to be on Kate’s street team because her books are AMAZING! When we met Fox in ATIEH I was like a blonde broody man? That’s my man. And I was right. Dear god do I love this man. The chemistry between Fox and Aurelia is SO GOOD. The actual plot line is also great. A poorly planned adventure to a neighboring kingdom? It goes as well as you’d expect. This was so fun and is easily my favorite in the series!
Kate outdid herself with this one! Five stars, all the way.
The Enchanted Legacies series is a favorite of mine, and it gets better and better with every book. I've wanted Aurelia and Fox's story since I connected the clues that something was going on between them behind closed doors. Kate edged readers for months with teaser scenes, quotes, and phenomenal character art. A Hunger in Every Heart lived up to my expectations and then some, rising to claim the top spot in this series! Fox is my kind of MMC: tall, quiet, and broody.
Fox may be a man of few words, but when he speaks to Aurelia, damn, there's so much unspoken meaning behind what he says, much of which she cannot understand due to his secret-keeping. Too bad so much is lost in translation due to his fears. He’s good at internalizing his thoughts and feelings due to his upbringing. There's just something about Aurelia that gets under his skin, in a good way, tempting him to open up and allow her in. Watching his character shift and change throughout this book was everything, because I just knew a big heart lived beneath his silent demeanor, just waiting to love and be loved.
Aurelia was hidden away for most of her life to keep her safe from her father, the king. Now that he's dead and her uncle is on the throne, her life is changing at a rapid pace. She develops an unexpected connection with Fox, and together, they set the night on fire. They’re total opposites in many ways. While Aurelia's bubbly and chatty, Fox is quiet and broody. She's yin to his yang, and they perfectly balance one another. At first, she denies that there may be something more than a physical attraction developing between them, but she can't keep lying to herself. However, Fox has a dark and troubled past, one he doesn't want Aurelia to be touched by, so he'll do whatever he can to protect her, even if it means fighting his desires and keeping the relationship surface-level, putting emotional distance between them.
A nurturer at heart, Aurelia will always do everything within her power to heal and help others. Throughout AHIEH, Aurelia grows and matures so much. Not only does she learn to defend herself, but decides it’s time to finally leave the only home she’s ever known to travel to Thermia to see the rainbow of lights that paint the sky on her birthday every year. What starts as a solo journey to independence and self-discovery becomes so much more since Fox won’t let her make the dangerous trek without him.
Will Fox allow Aurelia closer, opening his heart and confessing his deepest, darkest secrets and fears, or will he push her away permanently, leaving himself alone in the darkness with regrets? What awaits Aurelia in Thermia?
This book had me squealing one moment and pacing the next! Oh, and the romance? Let’s just say the word H-O-T doesn’t do it justice. Fox and Aurelia are my top Enchanted Legacies couple, and it will be hard for anyone to dethrone them!
Endlessly impressed with Kate’s characters and the MAGIC that is the world of Ellender. I dare say this was her best couple yet! Hunger is a mashup of Rapunzel/Tangled & Little Red Riding Hood & I love how Kate’s retellings pay homage to the fairytale they are influenced by while also being entirely their own story. Aurelia is a breath of fresh air & such a relatable character for me with her naive nature and talkative, high energy personality. And Fox is a broody blond wolf shifter who was raised to hate magic. Insert Aurelia, the powerful magic weilding witch who catches his attention…she grew up alone in her tower with only her squirrel companion, Eugene to talk to. I love all the lore from both fairytales & the quippy banter and tension all the way through. These two have such chemistry right from the start & I couldn’t wait to read their love story after snippets of them in first two books & holiday novella. They form a purely sexual secret relationship at the start and quickly realizing they find comfort in each other’s company as they quest through the forests to find answers in Thermia. Fox🫠 gosh this mans bedroom praise and dirty talk is unmatched!! The plot weaves together so well and continues to open up the world even more for future books. This series is criminally underrated!! I have the best time!
A Hunger in Every Heart ended up being such a fun paranormal romance!!! It ticked a lot of boxes for me: broody blonde MMC, forced proximity, fake mates, and knotting 😏🪢
Even though this is technically book four in the Enchanted Legacy series, it worked really well as a standalone. The author does a great job weaving in the characters’ shared history and explaining the past dynamics between the MCs so new readers don’t feel lost!
The shifter MMC, Fox, and fae FMC, Aurelia, are super likable. What starts out as a casual FWB situation between the two escalates after they’re forced into a situation 👀. Fox and Aurelia’s chemistry carries the story nicely, especially once the fake mate dynamics start 🥵
At a Glance ______________ Genre: Paranormal Romance / Fantasy Romance Series: Enchanted Legacy #4 (can be read as a standalone) POV: Dual Romance: Wolf shifter × Fae Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Content Notes: Omegaverse-adjacent elements, pregnancy discussions

☀️Grumpy/Sunshine 🐺Wolf Shifters 🪢Knotting 🤫FWB to Fake Relationship 🗡️Everyone has a sword and knows how to use it ⛺️Only One Tent
This Rapunzel/Tangled and Little Red Riding Hood inspired adventure will literally sweep you off your feet. Aurelia is our ‘little witch’ who wants to leave her tower and explore the continent. Fox is out blonde, wolf shifter who trains non-stop and always in his own head. This history that our two characters share started as friends with benefits and went a direction they both felt but never admitted to each other.
The recap at the beginning is-G E N I U S! And the spice-you don’t have to wait long. Open door, explicit from the beginning (and it get better every scene)
The consistent banter will keep you on the edge of your seat, turning every page to see where the story goes.
A Hunger in Every Heart comes out April 8th, 2026!
I received an eARC directly from the author, and this is my honest review.

This was amazing! I couldn’t put it down. Solid five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Immediately the author recapped 1) the world these books took place in, 2) who the main characters were from each book, and 3) what each book in the series was about. I thought this was an excellent reminder and set me up for success in fully understanding the current book. Even though I just finished A Storm in Every Heart last week, these recaps and summaries were very helpful!
The first part of the book is spent showing us how the MMC and MFC built their casual relationship and how it slowly morphed into a little bit more. I loved seeing how this happened and how it was super unintentional. They just naturally gravitated towards each other and the relationship slowly changed over time. We readers started to get a more depth about the MMC as the MFC learned more about him. We were learning about the MMC with the MFC, which was cool.
While the MMC and MFC were building their casual intimate relationship, we also got details about all the other characters from the previous books, which I really enjoyed because I loved all the previous books and characters. I especially loved that this book took place after book 1, but before and during book 2 and 2.5, and then continued on after book 2 to create its own timeline. It was really fun to see Odessa and Kas before they figured out who they were to each other and the bond that they had.
Of note, if you read this as a standalone, I could see how readers would say that multiple pieces of the story were just told to them and they were not shown. One example: Chapter 7 starts with sharing that the rescue mission was successful. No in-depth details were given about that rescue mission. The novella, book 2.5, is all about that specific rescue mission. So, yes, although you were just told about events in this book, there is a whole book where you were shown the rescue. This is just one example where we were told how things went because books 1, 2, and 2.5 actually showed us what happened (eg., Kas and Odessa finding their bond). Since I have read all previous books, I appreciated that Kate didnt repeat the same details when you can go read the book to get the details.
Other notes I took while reading:
As the MMC and MMC continued their casual relationship, they grew closer. I loved this scene when the MMC and MFC are going back-and-forth at the breakfast table about the rabbit. The MFC had forgotten that others were around and everyone was not used to the casualness between the two. Jett’s eyes going back and forth 👀 between them. This made me smile 😊
Oh my, Kate wrote such a devastating part of the story where I wanted to tear up. I’m not a cryer, but I definitely got close to it. This was around the 23% mark. I could feel both the MMC and MFC‘s emotions.
We get the bomb dropped at 25% that propelled the plot forward and to expand beyond the MC’s relationship.
I loved the mystery around the MMC. We didn’t know why he pushed the MFC away or what happened with his ex fun buddy that got him in prison. Or why he didn’t like magic. Or why he did not talk. All these questions and thoughts were answered!
I am loving that the author writes these strong women who are diverse and not scared of their sexuality! 🙌 This genre is filled with scared, intimidated, inexperienced women who are so shy. Those MFC’s are great, but make up a bulk of the women. This series and book includes women who are who they are and not shy about that!
Also, this MFC was unapologetically herself. She had her goals and wasn’t going to stop pursuing them for a man. She stood up for herself, no matter who was around and didn’t back down from a fight. She was willing to learn and grow, she persisted in the face of adversity, and she stood up for those who did not have a voice (animals). The MFC was honest and vulnerable about her feelings, always willing to put herself on the line. I appreciated the realness of her. During all of this, she was kind, compassionate, and thoughtful.
Our MMC was also kind and thoughtful, always willing to protect others. I enjoyed the change up in who was the one pushing the other away. For example, the last book the MFC was the one with the secrets to protect the MMC and pushed the MMC away. Here, the MMC was the hiding information to protect the MFC and pushed the MFC away. The MMC was more complex and we got the depth that had been missing about him. He was a beautiful person stuck and unsure of what to do. He was really challenged to grow as a person in this book and I loved it!
The author provided a great rationale for why the MMC held himself back in a relationship with the MFC. It made sense and was something that was resolved. I don’t enjoy books where the rationale is weak or doesn’t make sense. Again, Kate did a great job creating a rationale that was clear, and showed us how that rational affected more than just pie MCs.
The pacing is moderate to slow. This helped develop the complex relationship between the MCs. We learned more about the MMC’s past, the MFC’s background, and the wolves that were soldiers and stuck where they were. The pacing really picked up at the ending.
The epilogue gave details about our MCs from book one. I loved that!!
The way I love this book! I’ve been loving the Enchanted Legacies series and I was so excited to see how Fox and Aurelia’s story played out! As with the other books in this inter-connected standalone series This book is Little Red Riding Hood X Rapunzel X dash of Frozen mash up and it just WORKS! Since we are already familiar with this world )assuming you’ve read the other books) this story ends up being very relationship driven with the majority of the climactic action happening in the end. But like with all Kate King books she always weaves some kind of mystery and gives you just enough crumbs to keep you reading wondering what will happen next. This book starts off “two years ago” and moves quickly to fill in the gaps of the secret “situationship” Fox & Aurelia have found themselves in for two years. So the spice is spicin pretty quick!! But don’t worry this is not an insta-love situation at all, we’ve got a friends with benefits and it’s hot! BUT things eventually slow down and Dox gets the cold shoulder from Aurelia (can’t give any spoilers you gotta read to find out! But no miscommunication tropes here, it’s a whole thing!) Anyway, So The beginning moves quickly and then we find ourselves in the present day and Aurelia is presented with a big reveal and hidden secretes from her past that set her off on an adventure. Fox, who has secrets and a traumatic past of his own, follows her (against his better judgement but he’s kind of obsessed with her at this point so how can we blame him for stalking her through the woods for a bit 🤭) Anyway they find themselves in a whole new part of Ellender that hasn’t been discussed in the books yet and we meet a slew of new characters! As for Fox and Aurelia we find ourselves back in a slow burn style relationship after their “friends with benefits” ended abruptly before the adventure portion of the story even began. Now the two have find themselves in a new environment surrounded by possible enemies and they have to share a tent (yes we have a one tent/one bed situation 🫦) and they also have to pretend to fake date. So if you were wanting yearning, slow burn and tension.. trust me it is ALL THERE!! Kate King would feed us nothing less 😆 I absolutely ate up this book! I love Aurelia, she is the quirky optimistic sunshiny heroine of my dreams! And Eugene!!!! (Get ready to meet a cute squirrel sidekick!) Now Fox… Yummy. Okay so for such a quiet character in the other books I was wondering how Fox would come off as the main character. I was pleasantly surprised to find that with Aurelia plowing through all his comfort zones he becomes absolutely adorable. Definitely not a cinnamon roll, because believe me he is intense!! But their banter throughout this book was amazing! And eventually we see such a deeper side to him. Even with the focus on their building relationship there is still a lot of plot developing and a lot of questions I wanted answers to! And I definitely got them! Let me just say I was NOT expecting the ending! I really loved this one, it might be my favorite so far! I feel like I say that with all these books but I just really love each couple so much. They’re all so unique and their stories are so very much their own! Oh and NO 3rd act breakup!!!!! 🙌🏻 This is a fast paced, easy read, with lots of plot and LOTS of spice - oh yes this book gets an extra 🌶️ for me because hot dammnnnnnn!!!! This book was advertised with lots of spiciness and it DELIVERS!!! 😮💨 Highly recommend this book and the whole series. And it’s a standalone with a HEA. It is part of an inter-connected series but you could read them out of order and be fine. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
* I received an eARC from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own!
Thank you to the author for an advanced copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Aurelia was raised in secret for her own protection, but now she is ready to come out of the shadows. She has grown into a powerful sorceress, and when a dark secret about her family is revealed, she decides to leave her homeland for the first time to discover the truth. The only complication is Fox, the captain of the guard, another secret she's kept for two years. Fox has made it clear he is only interested in a friends-with-benefits arrangement, yet he follows Aurelia as she ventures into Thermia. Fox is from Thermia and knows the dangers that await Aurelia on its frozen fields. As a wolf shifter, he once fought those dangers. The idea of Aurelia getting hurt is unacceptable to the silent, intimidating captain. Confronted with both of their pasts and forced to share one tent, Aurelia and Fox must explore what they are to each other, all while discovering that Thermia is much more dangerous than either of them ever imagined.
Aurelia and Fox might be my new favorite couple. That is hard for me to say, because I have loved every couple in this series. The tension is just top-notch, and the spice is SPICING. This is definitely the spiciest book in the series, and I loved every second. Fox is such a yearner, and I wanted to yell at him to confront his feelings, but also hug him because he's really a sweetheart under all those muscles. Aurelia is a fun FMC, and I loved her eternal optimism and determination. The Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, and Snow Queen inspirations were a perfect fairy tale blend. I also loved how the mystery of Thermia was not at all what I thought, so I was on the edge of my seat for the last few chapters. While this book can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading A Thorn in Every Heart, A Storm in Every Heart, and A Holiday in Every Heart: An Enchanted Legacies Christmas Novella to get the full world experience. I loved each one!

What happens when FWB catch feelings? And what if those feelings were truly caught early on, but our MCs are idiots about it?
You get this story and its such a good ride from the beginning.
Fox and Aurelia are so perfect for each other that it hurts. No, really, their road to a HEA hurt so much I was clutching my chest in places. They have to be my favorites of all the Enchanted Legacies pairings thus far, their chemistry is amazing. Its not a fast burn romance per se, but there are signs amid the fast burn lust that they are down bad for each other, even if they won't admit it.
We get time jumps that cover two years, spanning the end of the first book to present, that show the development of the FWB situation between our MCs and the heartbreak of it, followed by Aurelia packing up to leave on the adventure she's longed for her whole life. When Fox learns that her plan is going to lead her into his dangerous homeland, he decides he will not let her go alone despite her protests and him never wanting to return there.
The story really picks up once they cross into the other kingdom, where mishaps land them in the situation of being fake mates. It turns the tension and yearning up to eleven, especially once you learn about Fox's past and why it has driven him to make the choices he has when it comes to Aurelia. Getting inside his head was everything I thought it would be.
This whole book is another fun ride in the Enchanted Legacies series. I love these two so much, I was not ready for their story to end, I could have read another two hundred pages of them easily. It does wrap up neatly, and there are things peppered throughout that leave space for book four. (I have so many questions, thoughts, and theories now!)
*Note: This is part of a series of interconnected standalones. You can read this one without the other proceeding books, but for me personally, I think it adds a richness to each new entry in the series if you do. Choice is yours! The author does put a recap of the series in the beginning that is an optional read, which I think is handy for any series and something I wish more authors would do.
And for the spice? 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Fox's filthy mouth alone gets its own pepper, and the on page scenes are fire. I think this is the spiciest in the series yet!
Thank you so much Kate King for sending me this ARC!
A Hunger In Every Heart is the third Fantasy Romance book in a series of interconnected standalones and it was so good, I love it and the whole series!
Aurelia has lived most of her life in hiding from her father, the previous cruel king, and dreaming of an adventure, especially finding the lights in the sky that only appear once a year on her birthday. When it’s finally safe and she finds even better reason to leave, she is quickly followed by Fox, the man she had a friends with benefits arrangement with for quite some time and who claims they can’t be anything more, but when circumstances force them to pretend to be mates, they realise that ignoring the attraction between them might be more difficult than staying alive on their journey.
I loved the previous books in this series and had high expectations for this one and I can honestly say it was even better than I expected, I loved the perfectly paced plot, learning about the shifters customs, the action and twists, amazing romance and the MCs. I liked Aurelia and Fox in the previous books but I really fell for them here, they were amazing as the main characters. Aurelia grew so much and she was a true star of this book, she turned out to be a badass but also was really caring and wanted to help everyone. Fox was definitely a grump but a really nice one and I loved how protective he was, he was trying so hard not to fall for Aurelia and I loved seeing him fail at that. They were polar opposites but so perfect for each other and I loved their relationship full of banter, longing, trying (and failing) to resist each other and some great spicy scenes, these two made a really beautiful couple and I miss them already. I also loved seeing some familiar faces from previous books, the found family is incredible in this series.
A Hunger In Every Heart is an amazing fantasy romance book, I loved it and recommend the whole series to everyone. I already can’t wait for the next book!
Kate King has done it again! I officially have a new favorite book and new favorite couple in the Enchanted Legacies series. Fox and Aurelia’s story was everything I hoped for and more!
One of my favorite things about the Enchanted Legacies series is that they are fairytale retellings. This book has perfectly woven elements of Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood and a dash of Frozen in such a unique and captivating way.
The FMC, Aurelia, is such a fantastic character. I loved her quirkiness and determination. She even has a pet squirrel named Eugene, which I absolutely adored. It was so cute and added such a fun, whimsical element to the story.
Fox is our MMC, and I’m not usually one for blondes but he has changed my mind! I absolutely loved him! He’s my new book boyfriend for sure. He is the guarded, quiet type with a traumatic past but I love how he slowly opens up to Aurelia. The progression of their relationship from being strictly physical (FWB) to something deeper and more emotional was so satisfying to watch unfold.
I also loved exploring a new kingdom, Thermia. Learning more about the wolf shifters and their pack dynamic. I really love the found family aspect in this book. We see it shine in Fox and Aurelia’s relationship with the wolf pack and also with our original crew back in Vernallis. This book features a dual POV, which was perfect! I especially loved Fox’s perspective, it added so much depth to his feelings and gave greater insight into his relationship with Aurelia.
Overall this book was fantastic and I can’t recommend it enough! Please add this to your TBR, you will love it! A Hunger in Every Heart can definitely be read as a standalone, as Kate King includes an excellent recap of previous events at the beginning. But I still suggest starting with A Thorn in Every Heart to get the full experience.
If you love grumpy/sunshine, found family, dual POV, wolf shifters, fae, plenty of spice done right, and fairytale retellings definitely check this book out!
I received an eARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Fox and Aurelia have maintained a secret casual relationship for almost two years. During the day they never speak, but at night he makes her scream. It’s supposed to stay strictly physical, and Fox especially is adamant that no feelings get involved. But when Aurelia finally has a reason to leave on the adventure she’s always wanted, Fox finds he can’t let her go without a fight.
🐺 M Y T H O U G H T S 🐺
As a huge fan of the Enchanted Legacies series, A Hunger in Every Heart did not disappoint. I fell in love with these books because they’re modern retellings of the classic tales I adored growing up. And this installment is truly a gift for the Disney‑kid turned Romantasy‑lover. Think Rapunzel meets Little Red Riding Hood… and the delicious freedom that comes when she finally gets to “let down her hair.”
And if blonde MMCs aren’t usually your thing? Fox will change your mind. Broody, strong, caring, sexy. He’s everything you want in a morally gray love interest.
Kate King masterfully weaves together threads from multiple fairytales, surprising me again and again with her twists, her spice, and a HEA that completely stole my heart. I turned the final page hungry for more.
🐺 F A V Q U O T E S 🐺
“I can’t resist this chaotic, deeply weird little woman; and worse, I don’t think I want to. I think I might be obsessed with her.”
“My breath catches, his eyes flare, and suddenly his hands are fisted in my hair, yanking my head back as his mouth crashes down on mine. I claw at his shoulders, desperate to get closer, our teeth clashing as we devour each other. The world disappears.”
“You deserve everything you want, and as long as that’s me, I’ll keep waiting for you to turn up at my door. Even if you stop coming, I don’t think I’ll ever stop waiting for you.”
Aurelia wants an adventure, preferably a dangerous one. She was raised by her mother's lady in waiting, hidden away from father. No one was allowed to know who she was and very few even knew she existed. This was all in fear that she would be a threat to the throne.
Now that her father is dead, and her uncle is now the King, she has the freedom she has always longed for. She also is now surrounded by friends and a found family to call her own, and a situation-ship that keeps her wanting to stay around. She's finding it harder to leave on her grand adventure. That is until she finds out that she may have family in a nearby Kingdom.
When Aurelia sneaks away in the early hours to head off to her grand adventure, she runs into a giant wolf in the woods that changes her whole grand adventure plan.
A Hunger in Every Heart is a mash up of Rapunzel and Little Red Riding Hood fairytale retelling. Its book four in the Enchanted Legacies series. This the books can be read as a stand-alone. However, to get the full range of the story and the tie in references I would read them in order. You do get a recap at the beginning, and the story does keep you well paced along in the timeline of the other books.
The banter in this book is top notch. You get the full Grumpy x Sunshine trope; however, this sunshine also comes with powerful magic and sword skills.
There is so much character development, and it's done in such a way that it feels like natural progression in growth vs the need to move the plot along. The world building definitely progresses as well and builds on what we know from the other books. The plot moves at a steady pace. There are different points of conflict, with the big one being at the end. This book was very much about Aurelia and Fox both growing as individuals, but also together as well.
The ending gave us a bit of a glimpse at what may be in store for us for book five, and I can't wait!
🐺💖 This is my first 5🌟 and my new favorite book of the series!!
This book captured my attention immediately and did not let go. The vibes were definitely vibing with this story. Kate King knows how to write a setting that puts you right into the story.
Fox and Aurelia are 🔥🔥🔥 I was feeling all kinds of emotions with these two and their fake dating/forced proximity storyline. I was turning every page saying, "C'mon, you two, would your bond just snap in place already?" It definitely kept me reading late into the night. All the little Easter eggs/hints that the author drops within this story have me wanting Jett's story like, now! I love the banter between Jett and Connell. I love the "sisterhood" that Aurelia has with Alix and Odessa, too. Oh, who am I kidding? I'm a fan of the entire cast of characters from the Enchanted Legacies series.
The pacing of this book flowed nicely. It kept me turning pages to find out what was going to happen next, I was emotionally invested in the characters, their story and their growth, and then the twists had me feeling a little angsty - and I am here for it. A Hunger in Every Heart is in one word - unputdownable.
💬 QUOTES I LOVE: "As if my pleasure belongs to you." "Every part of you belongs to me."
"She's mine. Not just tonight. Not just until we go home. She's mine, always. "
“You deserve everything you want, and as long as that’s me, I’ll keep waiting for you to turn up at my door. Even if you stop coming, I don’t think I’ll ever stop waiting for you.”
FINAL RATING: 5/5 🌟 - I definitely enjoyed and highly recommend it. I will buy a trophy copy for my bookshelf. 4/4 🌶 - Perfect mix of plot and spice and definitely a panty dropper. 🥵
Thank you to Kate King for the early copy of A Hunger in Every Heart in exchange for my honest review.
Oh this book, this entire series has me in a chokehold. Each book in the series just keeps getting better and better. This is book 4 in the enchanted legacies series and follows Aurelia and Fox. Aurelia is a sheltered fae who gets labeled a witch by those around her. She’s King Thorn’s illegitimate daughter that we learned about in the first book. Fox is the leader of the Vernallis army and a shifter. Aurelia is the sunshine and Fox Is the grump, fabulous. Our story starts out with Aurelia realizing that her life is passing her by and now that she no longer has to hide her identity, she’s free to explore. She finds out some startling news from her adopted mother and decides to finally leave Vernallis to head to Thermia, a neighboring kingdom. Her and Fox have had a friends with benefits situation going on but when Aurelia asks for more, Fox shuts it down and spurs Aurelia into actually leaving. Fox follows her and they end up being found by the wolves of Thermia and made to stay at the camp until Aurelia is able to meet with the Queen of Thermia in a months time. A lot of stuff happens and I will not spoil this book but omg it’s so good. I couldn’t put it down. The plot is top notch and the spice is even better. Fox and Aurelia’s relationship felt so natural, it didn’t feel forced or mashed together. This book was fast paced and it hooks you in from the first couple of pages. My only wish was that we got more of Fox and Aurelia’s relationship once they returned to Vernallis, but it could just be that I didn’t want this book to end. Five star read for me, I love this author and I love this series with a burning passion. Thank you to Kate King for the ARC
To say I loved this book would be an understatement!!! Aurelia and Fox’s journey is one of yearning, tension, and spice🌶️🌶️🌶️! The chemistry between the two was 🔥🔥🔥. The book starts out two years in the past and then jumps to present day. The relationship starts out mostly physical but as time goes on of course they catch feelings for each other. What I loved most about this book is it wasn’t love at first sight and they weren’t immediately head over the heels for each other. As time goes by and they start spending more time in each other’s presence, they realize what they have is not just physical. Aurelia is the first to admit that she wants more out of their relationship and Fox sadly cannot give it to her at the time for reasons of his own. As the book goes on they end up on a long dangerous journey together resulting in Fox claiming that Aurelia is his mate in order to keep her safe. You guys may have heard of one bed, but have you heard of one tent?!?! This false claiming ends up with them sharing not only a tent together but a tiny bed as well! YOU GUYS! THE TENSION! The tension that was felt from then on had me edge to the very ending! Overall this was a 5 star read for me! I enjoyed the characters, the pace and the plot. It was all well thought out and there is never a dull moment in the story. I did not have the opportunity to read the first three books, but I just added them to my kindle because now I need to read every book from this author ASAP! You guys need to add this to your TBR!!!
I just finished A Hunger in Every Heart by Kate King, and I was absolutely blown away by how much I loved it. I’ve been slowly dipping my toes into romantasy, and I also love my spice, and Kate King delivered on both in a big way.
Fox and Aurelia were fantastic main characters, and the supporting cast was just as strong. Even though this book is part of a series and I haven’t read the others yet, I never felt lost. It works very well as a standalone, though I could tell some of the supporting characters are featured in other books and I definitely plan on going back to read their stories.
As a huge fan of shifter romances, especially wolf shifters, I tend to be pretty picky with this subgenre. I feel like I know it well, which makes it harder to impress me, but Kate King truly did. The turmoil Fox goes through, both from his past and within his relationship with Aurelia, comes through clearly on the page. Aurelia is an amazing female lead: resilient, determined, and impossible not to love. Just when you think life might finally break her, she picks herself up and keeps going.
My only real complaint is that I wish we had gotten more. The ending felt a bit rushed and shorter than I would’ve liked, and I would have loved to see it played out more fully. That said, even when I had an idea of where things might be heading, I was still pleasantly surprised.
If you’re like me, still finding your way through romantasy but craving plenty of spice, I highly recommend giving this book a try. It’s absolutely earned a spot on my reread list.
I love the Enchanted Legacies series. Everything in this world feels like a blend of the best parts of the original fairy tales, with a fun, spicy adult twist. And in this one, Little Red Riding Hood definitely found a very bad wolf. These books have all been a lot of fun to read, and the writing style hits a nice balance. There’s just enough sarcasm and wit to keep things light and occasionally funny, while still leaving room for the darker elements that come with some of these fairy tales. That contrast works really well.
With this story in particular, I wasn’t sure how effective it would be to weave Fox and Aurelia’s relationship over the past two years into the timeline and have it overlap with the events of the other books. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it worked. The way the timeline was explained made the overlap easy to follow, and it added some nice depth to both characters without making the story feel disconnected from the rest of the series.
I did feel like the pacing was a little inconsistent, though. It starts off quickly, then sort of stumbles into a slower opening stretch before finding its footing again. By the end, the pacing definitely picks up, but the major conflict felt like it was resolved a little too quickly for my taste. I would have liked just a bit more time spent on that final confrontation.
That said, I really appreciated the ending and the way everything ultimately came together. Overall, I thought this was an excellent installment in the series, and I absolutely fell in love with Fox.
After reading this, blonde MMC's are redeemed in my book. In all seriousness though, this book was my favorite out of the whole series so far!
Fox and Aurelia have had a...situationship going on for a while. If you have read the other books in this series, they pretty much have been in their situationship since the end of the first book's timeline. What starts out easily and simple enough turns out to be not so easy as time goes on. Aurelia wants more, but Fox can't give her more. When Aurelia finds out that she has family that might still be alive in Thermia, she blindly sets out for an adventure with no idea what to expect or how to really get there. Thankfully she runs into a certain wolf along the way. On their way to find the Queen of Thermia, they run into some people from Fox's past, and have to jump fully into fake dating - despiste Fox having just told her days ago that things could never work out between them.
Fox and Aurelia are complete opposites, AND I LOVE IT. He is grumpy and doesn't talk much, and she is sunshine and doesn't stop chattering. They couldn't be more different if they tried, but again, I love it. Fake dating is one of the tropes that I eat up every time, and this book left no crumbs. It had everything I wanted. The pining and tension, the secrets and spice, the biting and knotting. Ugh I loved it all, give me ten more. I'm was so happy with the ending of this book, I feel like it wrapped up these events perfectly. I can't wait to see glimpses of Fox and Aurelia's future together in future books!
Each book in The Legacy Series just keep getting better and better!!
This one has Little Red Riding Hood/ Rapunzel vibes and IM HERE FOR IT.
Aurelia has been tucked away living in a manor bc she’s the secret daughter of a king. However now that her secret is out in the open she wants adventure! She wants to see the continent and experience life. And experience it she does. For the last two years she’s been sneaking around with Fox. The general in her Uncles army. But as this fling goes on things start to develop but mainly one sided. So Aurelia decides to go on that adventure she’s always wanted. However, Fox doesn’t think it’s a great idea and invites himself.
Aurelia learns about Fox’s secret all while pretending to be mates. She’s trying to find her family but they get caught up in a pack of problems and have to take a detour to the Queen of Thermia.
Fox and Aurelia unpack their feelings and after an epic situation with the Queen finally sort out their feelings. I know this is vague but I don’t want to give too much away bc this was a really fun read! Fox is definitely up there in terms of MMC’s who know what they’re doing.
If you love shifter romance with knotting and protective mates this is your jam.
The spicey scenes were AMAZING. Per usual with Ms. King. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Not to mention one of my favorite tropes grumpy but not with her and sunshine FMC who also has quirks.
I’m already waiting for the next book, and hopefully getting some more of Jett!!
These can be resd as stand alone but they’re so stinking fun just do the whole series!
Thank you to Kate for entrusting me with an early copy!
A Hunger in Every Heart by Kate King Enchanted Legacies book 3 Releases 4/8!
Rapunzel x little red riding hood Dual POV, grumpy x sunshine, found family, extra spicy fast burn, forced proximity, wolf shifters, knotting, secret hooking up to fake mates, mine, lots of praise, significant size difference, one tent, he only talks to her, squirrel friend, she's always saving animals, touch her and find out, yearning, betrayal
Aurelia has been hidden most of her life to protect her from her father. But now she knows she may have more family and the timing is perfect for her to take a trip and put some space between her and the male she is starting to feel too much for. Fox can't let Aurelia get closer to him, but he also can't let her go on the dangerous journey alone. Aurelia is beyond annoyed but he follows her anyway! After deciding they can't continue their physical trysts, how are they going to survive denying themselves?
Oh man! I think this has been my favorite of the series! I love Fox and Aurelia so much! Their chemistry is off the charts and there was so much delicious tension! There was also some mystery to why Fox was holding back that was revealed as the story went along. We also got the adventure Aurelia has been longing for as well as Fox facing parts of his past. Throw in some found family and a squirrel pet (!!) for the amazing cherries on top! There was adventure and secrets and toe curling and tears and cheers! I'm so excited for whatever Kate writes next!
This one had me gripped from page one. I LOVED this. The characters were so lovable. Aurelia was so brilliant, kind, independent, curious, and I connected with her so much. Fox was so growly, carrying trauma but with a big heart.
I loved their dynamic so much. To watch them slowly learn each other. This was not a rushed falling in love but a slow building of connection as they explored each other. Aurelia leading the way and Fox following either grumpily or happily. They were experienced adults who knew what they wanted, what they hoped for, what they were willing to try.
The story expanded the world yet again. It introduced new agitators and villains, it brought in more found family and friends, it showed new magic and creatures and culture. A community in this world that hates magic, watching Fox learn to be comfortable with magic, and seeing Aurelia understand and not be angry at any of them for it.
I could spend all day with these characters.
Favorite quotes: “I want to do more than fπck you, witch. I haven’t thought about anything else but you in months.” _________ My jaw slackens as I watch her whisper to a rodent. She’s obviously insane. Why am I so fixated on this objectively crazy woman? _________ She scoffs. “As if my pleasure belongs to you.” “Every part of you belongs to me,” I growl before I realize what I’m saying. ________ I can’t resist this chaotic, deeply weird little woman; and worse, I don’t think I want to. I think I might be obsessed with her.

Once again Kate King has given us another fantastic fairytale mash up full of spice and an intriguing plot. And oh the spice! This is definitely the k!nkiest of the book with some primal play, knotting, and more…
An element I absolutely love that has been in every book so far is that while the world has a mate bond, it is not fated but developed and every time the MMC is in total denial but for different reasons. I love the element of watching them obviously forming the bond but internally going “nope nope nope. Not bonded with her”. It makes me kick my feet and giggle every time and want to pat them on the head and call them idiots.
Aurelia and Fox had an easy time grabbing me. I love an adventurous but sheltered FMC and a blonde quiet MMC. And then we have friends with benefits to fake mates! Fake mates are even better than fake dating every time (and it's not something I find often enough!). Honestly it's hard to even begin listing out all the elements I loved about this book.
This time we got a twist on Little Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel, and Rapunzel has always been one of my favorites. There are some definite nods to the movie Tangled (hello sassy squirrel friend named Eugene!), but it also draws back on the older versions as well. The balance between spice and plot is also superb, with lots of adventure and twists to keep you reading yet still lots of spicy moments.
I absolutely love the Enchanted Legacies series! These books are the perfect interconnected standalones. They have fantasy elements but are more light hearted and always end in a happily ever after. I think this book might be my favorite out of all of them!
I knew going in that I would love Fox and Aurelia’s dynamic but it was even better than I expected. Fox is a broody, tattooed, shifter MMC that is known for being super quiet. In this book we got to see Aurelia bring him out of his shell and it was so heartwarming. Aurelia is a chaotic ball of energy, she has the biggest heart but is also very talented at magic. Aurelia saves and rehabilitates a squirrel who she names Eugene. Eugene becomes her animal companion following her everywhere normally on her shoulder or in her satchel. I’m obsessed with Eugene. I loved this little element, it really shows how big hearted Aurelia is.
The romance happens over two years, starting with acquaintances then turning to friends with benefits. There’s some fake dating where they have to pretend to be mates. There’s some miscommunication between the two but it was done in a good way. Miscommunication is one of my least favorite tropes but I didn’t mind it in this book.
This book is ssssspicyyy! I was sweating at some of these scenes. This is definitely the spiciest book in the series so far. I’m obsessed with Fox and Aurelia. This was an absolute joy to read!
I adore this series, I adore fairytale retellings and mashups, and I adore Kate King. So this is basically perfect?
I ALSO love being on Kate's street team, which means I was given this e-arc, and this is my honest review as always. I'm just a (fan)girl.
This is Rapunzel/Tangled meets Little Red Riding Hood with a hint of Frozen vibes, and Kate KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK. Grumpy/sunshine, yes please. Poorly planned adventures? Absolutely. An FMC who is soft and kind but can stand up for herself? HELL YEAH BROTHER. We get casual f*uck buddies, fake dating, questing, and so many secrets. I can't say more without spoilers!!
Aurelia is an older FMC but is kind and inexperienced - she hasn't seen much of the world. Fox is a fantastic foil to that. He is a GRUMPY GUY. If you've read the rest of the series (I hope you have, even though this is technically a standalone I promise you'll love them), you know at least that he was raised with exposure to so much of the horrors of the world. Figuring him out is like peeling back layers slowly and I loved getting to see more of him and learn his story and secrets.
This is probably the spiciest book yet in the series and it was still so sweet. I loved the way their relationship develops amidst the "casual sex" (lol) and how they are pushed to confront their feelings. And I LOVED Eugene.
4.5 Rounded Up 4 Spicy (YES!!!! It was hot and straight out the gate, we didn't have to wait long!)
- Dual POV - Crossing timelines - Sunshine x Grumpy - Fairytale retellings - Wolf shifter - One bed
This was such a fantastic read from Kate King. We meet Fox and Aurelia in ATIEH, they are side characters who still play a pivotal role in the storyline. I'm so happy that Hunger showed how their casual relationship involved during overlaps within the other books in the series. I didn't find it confusing at all and if anything it filled in some gaps- so masterfully done by King.
For me this book was more about relationship growth more then action and adventure (thought that was there too). Aurelia is part of group but at the same time stays on the outskirts- she is unapologetically corky, slightly a loner and realizes she lacks a lot of social skills, but it doesn't stop her from wanting to leave her tower and go on a grand adventure. It's brilliant to watch her find her power and place without it being defined by her magic ability.
At times I wanted to hit Fox because he was always getting in his own way with Aurelia even when he had good intentions. The possessiveness was top tier though. The chemistry these two had together was amazing and practically leaped off the page. This was definitely the spiciest book from King I have read.
