Black Lace, book 3 in the Make You Mine Romance series by Kimberley Anne, is a fun mix of small-town charm and big-city drama. It follows Alex (Lex) Black, a young woman making her way in fast-paced Melbourne, who ends up heading back to her hometown for some much-needed safety after some family drama.
The dual perspective is a nice touch, letting us see things from both Lex and Brad Waters, the local lawyer who's definitely got a thing for her. Their chemistry is great, but the obstacles they face—especially Lex's complicated past—keep things interesting.
While the story has lots of engaging moments, it does hit some familiar romance beats. Lex is a well-developed character, and her journey of self discovery.
The writing is easy to follow, which makes it a quick read. There are a few spots where the pacing slows down, but overall, it keeps you turning the pages.
Black Lace is a solid pick for anyone who loves a good romance with a bit of drama. It might not break new ground, but it offers some heartwarming moments that make it worth a read if you're looking for a cozy escape!

Black Lace is the third instalment in, The Acoustic Series.
It can be read as a standalone but to get a better understanding it’s best to read them in order.
Alex/Lexi/Lex Black is an exceptionally self-sufficient FMC who excels in her full-time job and various side business ventures, and she's deeply committed to her family while also showing compassion for those struggling.
Brad Waters life had become stagnant, working as a lawyer at his father's law firm and living in a sparse, minimalist apartment that served only as a place to sleep, until he realised something was lacking when he met Alex.
I love how the Black Family dynamic plays out throughout the series, with each member being an independent individual with their own pursuits, yet always willing to put aside their feelings and help when needed.
Music serves as a powerful tool throughout the series, providing characters with a sense of peace when life becomes overwhelming, which is a relatable experience.

Kimberley Anne’s writing is so visual it felt like I was watching a movie play out in my head — dark, emotional, and seriously addictive. I only knocked off one star because a few parts that were in the previous book, but honestly? I still devoured it.

An Enjoyable Follow-Up, Though Alex Remains a Mystery
I really liked reading more about Alex and Brad in this book. It was nice to see their story continue and to get a deeper look into their relationship. The chemistry between them is clear, and there’s a gentle, realistic tone in how they navigate their connection.
That said, I did feel that Alex still remains a bit of a mystery to me. There are moments when she withdraws or goes quiet, and while Brad gives her the space she needs, it’s never completely clear what’s really going on beneath the surface. I found myself wanting to understand her thoughts and emotions more.
Even so, it’s a lovely addition to the series heartfelt, engaging, and definitely worth reading if you’ve enjoyed the previous books.

What a power couple
Fierce, fun and flirty.
Some parts felt a bit repetitive knowing what we knew from the previous books however it still adds so many different perspectives.
