Lovetown, USA

Rate this book
Jaded journalist Lane Washington thinks true love is a fairy tale, so it’s quite an ironic twist when her editor assigns her to visit and write a puff piece about Lovetown—a city that boasts an 87% marriage rate for residents within three years of arrival. But little does her eager boss know, Lane plans to write a scathing exposé on this scam of a town. She can feel it; something is truly off about this perfect, heart-covered place. She gets in her investigator bag, hoping to write her way back to career success as she fulfills the promise she made to her bestie to keep an open mind. Love is off the table, but she can still have fun with the single men of Lovetown. And maybe the women, too...

Divorced doctor Trey Montgomery is ready to fall in love again, but his main goal is to serve his community. Unfortunately, his charity hits roadblock after roadblock until the mayor offers him a deal...make Lane Washington a believer. The town can't afford any negative press, and he has the...tool...to turn that cynic into a lovergirl. If Trey succeeds, Her Honor will remove the red tape and greenlight his plans.

But Trey isn’t exactly the romantic type, and Lane is a beautiful, un-wooable mess. She's trying to numb her pain. He's trying to tear down the walls she's erected. Both of them are hiding their past—and their true intentions. When the town starts to work its magic on them, chaos ensues, and Lane finds herself wondering if fairy tales can actually come true.

4.5 🌟!

Lane was trying to get her career back on track and was taking an assignment to cover Lovetown, USA. Is it really love, or is it all a hoax? Lane would probably say both! Lol Lane was such a fun FMC, and she was truly herself throughout this book! Trey was in the midst of his own struggles, wanting love, figuring out his personal family issues, all while trying to open a clinic that kept hitting roadblocks. Lane is everything Trey wants because she is everything but perfect. Their love story isn't the only love that Lane experiences in Lovetown, and that “Potluck Scene” was crazy! LOL You will laugh, aww, and clutch your pearls throughout this book. And although Trey makes some terrible decisions, he does spend every opportunity fighting and standing for Lane! And the drama that is revealed in Lane’s story was so compelling, as it toes the line of reality. This book was such a fun read! I definitely recommend it and look forward to the next Shae Sanders book!

Lovetown, USA

I really enjoyed this story from beginning to end. Lane was a true cynic and had been completely jaded by anything resembling love and it showed in her interactions and stories she wrote. Trey applied pressure in a way that felt real and genuine and Lane eventually had no choice but to lean into her attraction and growing feelings for Trey.

I liked Trey and Lane together and I enjoyed their journey. I liked how Trey showed his concern for how Lane was self medicating her pain and discomfort but it was done in a way that made her think about her actions deep down and see he was making an observation and not an attack or judgement.

My only complaints are there were some editing issues, but enough to take away from the story and that the ending felt rushed. It would have been nice to have just a little more once the conflict was resolved before moving into the epilogue.

All in all, this was a good story. It gave me the small town feel with some spice and a bit of drama and deception.

Imagine a town where everyone who moves there falls in love and gets married in three years time. Is it magic or is it a trick?

Verve sends a reporter to write a series of articles on it to see if it’s true. Enter Lane, the writer who doesn’t believe in love after love ruined her life. Lane who’s self medicating with alcohol and mindless sex.

Upon arriving in Lovetown, she meets several people and becomes sexually involved with them. There’s Shayla, a women she’s attracted to. Then there’s Deacon, who she’s paired with for a date. Most importantly there’s Trey, the town Dr who she gets emotionally involved with.

Of course Lane discovers the town’s secrets which means she has to choose between herself or her relationship with Trey. And when she chooses herself, then Trey has to decide if she’s worth fighting for.

I read a few reviews and understand why people think the end was abrupt. I agree. The author could have written a little more in the epilogue. I too needed just a few more pages. I also agree that there were editing issues with this book too. They weren’t as glaring as her last book but there is still an editing issue with her books.

Finally, I really enjoyed this story. I loved that Trey fell first and he never stopped fighting for her and their relationship. Borrowed this from Kindle Unlimited.

This was a fun read in spite of the fact that I didn't like the FMC. Granted the whole grumpy/sunshine trope tends to bother me in general. Aside from that I liked the "world" of Lovetown, and unlike Lane I'm super into all the corny puns and stuff, lol!

The spicy scenes were great and they didn't detract from the heart of the story. I like the way Shae Sanders used AI and data mining as a relevant subject to create a compelling storyline.

I even see potential for a series with new couples moving to Lovetown (fingers crossed).

Another one...

As a certified ball of mush, I must say this book took me through it... in the best way possible lol. I loved all of the cheesy love themed people, places, and things in Lovetown. I could see it as if I were right there. I love the way cynicism and love battled like a tennis match with both scoring points before love won!

As usual, Shae brought the heat 🥵 the potluck was 💦💦💦

I loved Lane! I loved Trey! Shay and Nadia were my girls... and Cam stole my heart. This was an outstanding story... one that I'll buy and read again and again. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The magic of Lovetown

I enjoyed the journey and was rooting so hard for Lane to let it all go and fall in love, but in fiction and in real life letting go can be hard when you can’t find a way out of the pain. I was torn between wanting to her to expose it all or letting the people be, which means again Ms Sanders has done well with making you think and feel and laugh OMG I laughed! Such a good read, you’ll enjoy!

Don’t let the cover fool you, this book gets down and dirty. I love this world of living in a town that is for the lovers. The twist on what this town is based on was a nice twist but it felt rushed or glossed over as we found out everything. Trey’s grand gestures was cute. Overall, I enjoyed the book and the writing.
