Just Who... or What... Is Sasha Sommers?

If you like a budding romance and a slow burning mystery, then this book is for you.

It’s a few days before Thanksgiving and the adult children are all gathering at their childhood home with their parents, Callie and David. The grandchildren are ready for fun. But there’s a guest in the picture, a live-in guest supposedly named Sasha Sommers.

Just who is this Sasha Sommers and what does she know that she’s keeping mum? Better yet, why is she living there? Is she really a charity case or taking advantage of the situation? And just what do Callie and David know, her so-called sponsors?

Are there skeletons in the closet that mom and dad don’t want anyone to know? Just why does Sasha have them wrapped around her little finger? It’s putting it mildly to say the adult children, home for the holiday, are more than a little suspicious… things just aren’t adding up.

Mallory, unmarried and jobless, arrives home before her siblings. Catching her mother in a lie about Sasha has her curiosity on fire. Why would Callie lie about Sasha? Why is Sasha so quiet about her past?

Enter James, a computer guru and someone who went to high school with Mallory. But like Mallory, he was a loner. Years later they meet again, and these two ‘loners’ find they have more in common than meets the eye. The MIT graduate knows his computers… While his and Mallory’s relationship grows, will he be able to help unlock a few of her family secrets?

At the end of this part of the series, Mallory’s brother makes an important discovery. It seems Sasha’s not who they’ve been led to believe. The mystery keeps growing and the search is on. Just what does Sasha know, and will secrets be unlocked that should remain buried?

We learn a lot but more secrets are yet to come, and as Luke 8:17 says: For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open. (NIV).

I didn’t realize empty nesting would feel so… empty.

66-year-old Callie Ward sits alone in her big Victorian house. Not long ago, she could hardly hear herself think. Now, with her children grown and husband often away, the chaos is gone—and the quiet feels too big for one person.

So when her local charity asks if she can sponsor a young mother in need, she quickly agrees.

Soon, the house is alive again with laughter and baby giggles. But just as Callie grows close to Sasha and baby Dot, her youngest daughter, Mallory, shows up unannounced: jobless, heartbroken, and convinced the new houseguest is hiding something.

Sasha pushes back by asking questions that could expose a secret Callie and her husband have been hiding for twenty years...

Now, with the whole family coming home for Thanksgiving, one wrong conversation could unravel everything.

Callie and David's children and grandchildren arrive the week of Thanksgiving. Things are a little rowdy around the house and the siblings are doing some searching into Sasha's background when she is caught sneaking into Callie and David's bedroom and going through boxes. Although Callie covered up for her when Mallory made a comment about picking up some soap for Sasha's bathroom, that Callie said she was low on. Mallory went into town to the coffee shop and ran into James, the guy she went to high school with and worked on her dad's computer when she had spilled coffee in it. They end up spending the day together and go to the pub for beers and burgers. Mallory is really falling for this guy, and he for her. Later on David is dropped off after being out because he had too much to drink, and outside he had told Mallory that he was coming from work. Mallory knew right away that was a lie because of the way he was dressed. The siblings were discussing it when Sasha said that maybe he was on a date, which made them all even more determined to search Sasha. A friend of Taylor, had got back to him about searching on Sasha and told him that there was no one registered in the shelters with her name, so this meant that she had been lying to them all. I can't wait for the next book to see what happens next!.

Who is Sasha & where did she come from?? Why is everything being so secretive? Why did she really come to live with David & Callie? Is Dot David’s baby? Everyone is home for Thanksgiving & they are all curious about what is going on? What is Sasha hiding & what is David & Callie hiding? There is too much being kept secret. Is Sasha taking advantage of them or is she really in need? She claims she doesn’t remember the name of the shelter she was staying in. That’s real suspicious. What is it that David wants to tell the children that Callie isn’t ready to share with them yet? What are they hiding. It sounds like they are separating. Why are there so many secrets? Why was Sasha in David & Callie’s bedroom going throw their papers & boxes she had under the bed? Why did Callie not want the family to know? The children know something is going on, but no,one wants to share about anything. So they are doing their own investigation. I think the computer nerd, who went to school with Mallory is helping them! Have they found out anything? Sasha avoids any questions about her past. She tries to give them the less amount of information that she can. I think they are beginning to find some answers.Let’s hope they get it before it is too late. Will what they find out destroy the whole family? It’s getting interesting now!!

After Callie finds Sasha in the master bedroom going through papers and things that Callie had boxed and stored under her bed she lies to Mallory about why Sasha was in her bedroom. This causes Mallory to be even more suspicious of Sasha than she already was and even a little suspicious of her Mom as she appears to be telling lies to cover for Sasha. Mallory and her sister Ariel and brother Taylor begin really having questions about the situation since they can’t get answers from their parents or from Sasha that make any sense. And then Sasha starts implying that their parents are hiding things. Strange things seem to be going on in this household and they are getting stranger everyday.

OK, so now all the family is starting to arrive home and be there for the Christmas Holidays. Mallory still is playing the detective because she does not believe what Sasha is telling everyone. In the meantime the family is growing closer and closer to Sasha and her baby and getting closer to Mallory and her "Friend".
Since Mallory has been gone so long everyone feels close but has to relearn about Mallory and what she really wants in life. Sasha is working part time at the book store so that gives Mallory time to follow up on leads.

Again, Sage leaves us with a great hanging story that shows we really need to get to the bottom of book 5 and 6 quickly.

Now this book has got me asking a lot more questions, especially what is going on with Callie and David and the very mysterious Sasha. Mallory and her siblings are all in trying to figure out what everyone is hiding, and it appears to be something very big, but the more questions they ask of everyone the more that they retreat and clam up. Mallory appears to be reconnecting with James, from high school, so hopefully something good might come out of all this deception with her parents and Sasha. Looking forward to the next instalment.

Just as things seem to coming together for Callie and David, not so much. What truth does David want Callie to share with their children? I like learning more about their adult children emphasis on adult. What is going on with Mallory? She is going on 40 not 21; why is her life so unsettled? Will Ariel’s husband ever show up? Taylor and his wife have some devastating personal news. What is the truth about Sasha?? The next book can’t get out fast enough! Answers, I want ANSWERS! ANSWERS! ANSWERS!.

The minute I finished this book, I looked up like there was a hidden camera around me. That's how intense the journey to the end was.

Sage Parker delivers part 4 of the Ferndale Secrets series with more revelations, family appearances, and a touch of romance. I felt like we were getting more answers while also finding more things to question in this one.

I can't wait for the next part. I'm ready to know what Sasha was up to. Also, I need Mallory's love life to bloom.

I am at a loss for words with this story. It is so compelling and has me thinking all kinds of scenario. Callie and David need to confess and tell their grown kids what is going on before they find out on their own. The mystery of who Sasha really is has me also going, hmm. I love the connection between James and Mallory and I would love for them to be a couple. I don't know where Sage Parker is going with this story, but I can not wait to find out. So well written!!.

This is book #4 in the Ferndale Secrets series by Sage Parker.

Wow! Then drama ratchets up in this book. All 3 kids are home. Ariel is accepting of Sasha but Taylor agrees with Mallory about something being off. It was nice to see a nicer side of Mallory when she was with James. The information that Taylor discovered at the end was quite a surprise. Can’t wait for the next book to see what happens with their plan.

The pot Pickens in the story as Secrets could be revealed and can cause some unexpected feelings for the family. Like the characters and the premise of the story. Empty nesting can be challenging for some people in their suddenly alone and helping someone that needs help could fill the void or could open up things that should stay hidden. Good read.

Sasha Sommers doesn't exist at a shelter in the state

so is she using another name for safety reasons, or is she trying to scam someone?

Why does David have a different story for everyone?

Why is Sasha so suspicious when she's the one with a mysterious background?

intrigue and drama?

but why?

lookjng forward to finding out what's the story behind the story.

Family secrets....

I love this book and series.  It's clear that there are hidden family secrets that Callie and David have never shared with their adult children.  As suspicion starts to grow, tension is building and trust is starting to wane.  I can't wait for the secrets to be revealed.

Every one seems to have a secret in this story. David & Callie are hiding something but won’t say what though David it seems is ready to tell. Sasha can’t remember the name of the shelter she was supposedly staying at and no one can seem to find any record or her or Dot. Mallory and her sibling are determined to get to the bottom of what the actual hell is going on and well I wanna know too!
