I've waited a long time for an author who writes specifically for my sense of humour
Michael Cheney let's loose (I think) in this series and the humour and exchanges between the main characters is just superb. I'd love to put some quotes in here uncensored but my review wouldn't make it to press.
That's not to say there's excessive strong language, I'd personally say there's almost the optimal amount.
It really is just so funny. Here are the censored quotes that made me laugh. See if you can work them out. Actually don't bother, just read it:
he says. “You need to rest before the first game begins.” “If it’s Spot The 1234 I’ve already won,” I say.
“Your morning show is a piece of rotting 1234 garbage!” I shout.
“They’re wearing bright pink jumpsuits. They don’t look too happy about it.” “Their clothes are the least of their worries,”
He doesn’t reply. I think I’ve scared him. “Or,” I say, “we could even end up in the scariest, darkest and most foreboding place of all.” “Where’s that?” he asks. “Your mom’s 123456.” ArachnoBot snickers, his legs rattling on the floor of the container. “Thank you, Tedd. Thank you.”
Go ahead and have a lotta, lotta fun with this trash talkin Droid!
This book is absodamnlutely fun. Every single time Tedd our intrepid Trash Droid takes a step, he only finds himself deeper in the, you know what! And now he's landed purdy much where he started, being controlled by the Manager. The Manager also has control over his human friend Sarah. But he's made an alliance with an aracnobot and it's been actually working out for both of 'em. So yeah grab the book to see how much hot water Tedd can get into...
Here's a couple of quotes for yah:
"It’s like a hundred Edward Scissorhands doing a shadow puppet show."
"I guess someone already harvested your heart.” “Just call me the Tin Man,” I say. “You can be Dorothy.” “Does that mean the Manager is the Wizard of Oz?”
Hilarious and exhilarating sci-fi, hi-jinx, die-hard, robo, low-brow, go-mojo, no-slow-mo (except when suitably gory) tale of derringer-do, Kalashnikov-calamity, AKA Tedd, the trash-talking, jay-walking, psycho-dorky, android (NOT robot). Like Asimov without the three (or any) laws, Clarke and others without the (yawn) science, M’Banks without the culture, Star Wars without (so far) the merchandise (and PG rating). Closest thing would be if Harry’s Stainless Steel Rat hijacked the Red Dwarf (of the the books not the TV series) with buzz-saws for hands and no censor.
So far this been my favorite book in the series. It is full of action and takes the time to quickly and effectively explain why Tedd feels things. There were a few times when Tedd used the same insulting title for a group of opponents. It felt a little lazy and un-Tedd like. Tedd's stock and trade is trash talking pun intended so repeat insults just don't fly. I'm excited to see how this all ends.
I found this series purely by chance, and I’m so glad I did ( remind me to put the lottery numbers on, I’m on a lucky streak). I know “page turner” is a much overused saying, but in this case it is truly deserving. It is a fast paced, non stop, humorous adventure that just grabs you from the start and doesn’t let go. Roll on book 4.
The humor is more raunchy than I like but story is a fun read. Reminds me of a mixture of Dead Pool, Bender from Futuroma and the Murderbot Diaries. If you have tender sense abilities about harsh language and jokes it might not be a good book for you.
Fascinating AI-slop. I kept reading to find examples of it hallucinating but it seemed to stay on the rails.
As a story however it’s just an awful thing that copies some of the flippant tone of Murderbot and other YA stories without being able to cover up the mind numbing expository story telling.
This serves as a new low mark for Amazon’s self publishing and review gaming system.
wow! what an adventure! This one is the funniest book so far in the series! iI love how fast paced this book is, and the humour... I love it! easy short read! fun and little sad in some parts! Loving the series
So far, I read book 1 to book 4, it was a pleasant read. Action-packed, funny, some gruesome deaths. The main character is annoyingly attaching, immature, full of resources, the kind you want to pat on the shoulder and slap in the face!
I subscribe and follow but I can’t get the lost chapters advertised at the end of the book. I enjoyed the story so I am reading the next book in the series, but I would like to read the lost chapters too.
4.25 stars Another fun installment that makes you want to read about what happens next! Mad about something that happened to a character in this book and hope that there is something magical that happens in the next book.
The banter between Tedd and Arachnobot is getting a bit tiresome. Maybe because I've read three of them in the past few days, not all in a row, but I think I need a longer break from it.
Michael Cheney serves up a fun read with trash droid. It won't win a pulitzer prize but who cares, it's fun, chaotic and a good read. Keep up the good work Michael !
It is a fun read and I want the author to do well from his efforts. BUT - It seems like the author is ending each book with a cliff hanger instead of making stan alone books.
Quick easy novella to read. The world makes little to no sense, but it's a guilty pleasure read and I'm one of those people that HAS to know how it ends.. so watch me read the rest.
