Aeon was still learning to live with a health condition that impacted her life daily. All she wanted to do was move in a way that young women her age did. However, the condition left her feeling out of sorts, insecure at times, depressed, and anxious. Thank God for her best friend Fatima, and her dad. They always lifted her crown and let it be known that she was the ish, just the way she was.
Then Aeon met Declan, and her life became a bit brighter. Although Declan knew nothing about her condition, he was quickly on board to learn how to help her, as his feelings grew fast. I loved how Declan's friend group embraced Aeon and Fatima and became family. That damn Ariel was trash! 🤬 The audacity to pop up after all this time, all but demanding time and space from Aeon. 😤 Her village did not play about her, and Ariel could get dealt with if she want to! 👀 Nice read.

It was decent, I feel like the author over explained the illness in an attempt to mitigate confusion while educating the reader. It started to get redundant after the initial lengthy explanation the constant alerts with explanations was annoying. As far as the love story, it was cute idk I just didn’t rock with either of them too deeply.

I enjoy reading Mel's stories. While I've never heard of POTS before, this story broke down the condition simple enough for me to understand. Declan and Aeon had an awkward meet cute. This story will have you laughing.

Loved how Aeon had so many people looking after her. I like Declan from the beginning and his mama was too cute. This was such a feel good story.

Q: what do you do when your boyfriend forgets to hang up the phone after a call and you overhear him telling another woman tomorrow they can go to your place to f*uck because you’ll be in class all day? What would you do when you find out that girl is his childhood best friend and roommates girlfriend?
A: set up camera, wait for him to show up with the skank lol, as call the boyfriend over to show him how much his girl and best friend love him!!
Aeon, diagnosed with POTS at 19, had some life altering changes happen to her but was still making the best of the lemons life gave her. Dating and find out her man not only is cheating, but he’s talking trash about her condition behind her back and excluding her from hanging with his friends because he don’t want them to have to change anything for her disability. She catches this idiot in her apartment with his best friends girl and of course she leaves him.
Declan is in the store shopping with his mom and they stumble upon the beautiful Aeon on the floor with her support dog on her chest and Mrs. Cetta don’t play, so she made Declan stay with her until she felt better. Soon as she sits up her hearts slows for Declan and baby he is the calm to her raging heart!!!
Declan!!! Declan was absolute perfection. He was caring and understanding, loving, fun, strong and protective. He knew he wanted Aeon and he did everything to secure her, he was patient and never made Aeon feel like a burden or a problem to do for. He cared for her so well my girl fell hard and fast.
Mel Dau gone do it every time, she gone stress you clean out first but she gone mend it with some good ole fashion beautiful men and unmatched love. Declan claimed her from the first encounter and never let up on loving Aeon and showing her that her disabilities don’t have to hold her back and she can be loved in spite of it. Aeon was a beautiful soul that deserved to be loved properly and baby did she get all the love she was due!!!
Aeon’s father was amazing and I’m so glad he was such a stand up man because her mama was a dipshit lol & I’m glad she stood her grown with her pickle head ass 😂😂🤦🏾♀️.
Fatima, her best friend was the truest definition of a ride or die. She refused to allow her to wallow and she always had her back.
This was an absolute amazing read and another book boyfriend to add to my list.

I honestly hate that it took me so long to finish this book! It was absolutely incredible. It was a good book a solid 4.5/5. Other than the typos And Midnite being a girl in some scenes and a boy in others that confused me. It would’ve been a 5 if not for the typos and that error.

I love that I was able to learn about a new condition and the love that was there from the friends and Deck’s love, it was everything. I enjoyed this.

4.75. I truly enjoyed this book a lot! I didn't know what POTS was and Mel Dau for sure handle the condition with care. It was amazing to read. I love how Declan knew he wanted Aeon the moment he saw her at the store. Even though Aeon's mother didn't want her, she truly found a mother in Declan's mom and also a found family with his friends as well. It was a great book, and I would like to see a book with Fatima soon. Also, the misgender of Midnite was a tad bit confusing to me.

What i love the most about this story is that even with Aeon’s condition she was not desperate for love but she welcomed it. She wasn’t bitter or mean. Declan was everything and once he set his sites on her, he did not play about his woman. Their circle of friends and Midnite was a beautiful thing. I’m giving this a 4.5 b/c was Midnite a girl or boy?? lol

As always, Mel doesn't miss! Pulse of True Soulmates was a 5 star read for me. Aeon was so relatable independent, but low key scared to let anybody in and be vulnerable after her no good ex, who name we should not even mention because he had our girl thinking she was lovable, that she was too much to deal with especially with her POTS condition. But see that was a boy and she meets a REAL MAN, Declan. That's a good man Savannah. He was calm, patient, and determined to show our girl the love that she deserved. See you can always find a good man while you out shopping lol. Don't want to spoil it but how they met, especially with his momma Mrs. Princetta, it's like they both fell in love with our girl since day one.
Mel really writes story For Us, By Us and its giving soft black girl healing of love. Like it just come easy with no struggle. Just two loving each other unconditional despite the conditions.
10/10 ate it up.

(3.5⭐️) This was a cute and quick little love story. I love the chronic illness/disability rep in the story and how the author showed that people who have debilitating illnesses can and do lead lives full of love & friendship. Declan was absolutely hilarious. His inner thoughts made me cackle often. And I loved the way he showed his love to Aeon through his actions. “Come clean my house so I know it’s real” Hashtag team Acts of Service. I also loved the way his friend group and his parents embraced her. There was some mild drama in the book with her ex and mother but nothing too outrageous. Some minor errors that could be overlooked except the dog was misgendered so much during the book. Like literally one sentence it’s “how’s my fur daughter”, and the next sentence was “I told him to go to his pillow” or something lol.

Declan came in Aelon I say at perfect time he was looking to settle down and found his soulmate like how learn fast about her health didn't treat her different he got to know her But his mom knew from the beginning that was gonna be her daughter in law like how all his friends took to her and got to know her and love on her and Fatima didn't play about her friend...
Midnight he most definitely like human 😉
But her mom was a piece of work are you serious only reason why'd reached out is because of your husband... Yeah you ain't real would've told no to Aint coming to my wedding I'm cool on you continue to do what been doing staying distant in my life because have circle that doesn't play about her...

Wow, love's got some serious power!
This book was seriously amazing! Mel Dau totally nailed it again. Her writing always delivers these awesome, jaw-dropping, heart-pounding, pearl-clutching, thought-provoking stories with super spicy, naughty, and sexy AF intimate scenes. And this book was all that and then some.
Aeon's been through a lot, both at work and especially in her personal life. Betrayal comes in many forms, and trust isn't easy for her. But a random grocery store meeting led her to Declan, the guy who would fix her broken heart, make her believe in love again, spark her passion and zest for life, and show her he's always been hers and he's never letting her go.
The drama in this book seriously made me see red so many times. The nerve, the entitlement, the arrogance, and the sheer stupidity of some characters had me shaking my head in disbelief and disgust. Thank goodness for Declan. That man did not mess around when it came to his girl. I was ecstatic and doing a happy dance when Aeon and Declan finally got their happily ever after. They totally deserved it.

I love how you brought out the struggle and fear of someone with a disability trying to move through this world of so much judgement!!!…
I adored me some Declan and how he showed, when a man truly loves you, he will do what is necessary to make sure you are safe, happy, comfortable and secure!!!…His friends showed up for Aeon and did not treat any differently, but paid attention to make sure her health was not in danger!!!…
Get you a Fatima, because she showed up and showed out every single time for Aeon!!!…

Pulse of true soulmates
Mel has been on a roll lately with her writing and most recent releases. This was yet another story that I read in one sitting while I should have been sleep. I just couldn’t put it down until I reached the ending.
I really liked Declan and Aeon together. Their love was felt off the page. I love how he was there for her and had her back. I also loved the friendship between Aeon and Fatima. The way Fatima and Declan had to gather Aeon when she was being stubborn about her condition had me cracking up laughing. I also liked how Declan’s mother was a motherly figure for Aeon and I loved that she would go to war for Aeon just like her father would.
I appreciated the care and education that the author took in talking about Aeon’s medical condition and I loved how the people in her life, both new and old, made sure to educate and prepare themselves on how to take care of her when she had an episode. That’s what love and family should look like.
I wouldn’t be mad if Fatima and Georgie received a full story because I really liked her character.

This was a cute book! The FMC was definitely giving damsel in distress due to her illness but the meet cute was chefs kiss. Midnight definitely stole the show though

I was definitely team Declan in this story. He didn't come into Aeon's life to play about her. He stepped into her life at the perfect time and didn't give it a second thought past their initial meeting.
They were absolutely each other's pulse, heartbeat, and true soulmates. Declan showed that he was locked in and invested by researching Aeon's medical disability known as "POTS" to make sure he did everything humanely possible to make her comfortable in his life. Not only was he locked in, his circle of friends were as well.
I loved his mom's initial response, seeing Aeon laid out on the floor of the box store. This is where the relationship begin and blossomed for both momma and her son. Their relationship was too cute!
Daddy Blackwell didn't play about his daughter either. He took it there when her ex.Troy and his parents showed up uninvited at his birthday party, trying to throw shade at his daughter. Wrong person, place, and time. He was not intimidated by that white man and his family. Did Troy actually think he had a shot at getting Aeon's attention ever again? "NOT!" This was a hilarious scene to me!
Her best friend Fatima is how a bestie should be. Aeon ended up getting another entire group of besties to add to her and Fatima's circle.
If you enjoy a little drama, laughter, clarity, feel good, protectiveness, and shade, this book has it all. Even her birth mother was clowning

Lessons
The beginning of the book had me vexed and perplexed because F proving a point and getting evidence, I wish I would let my man disrespect my home in such a way. I digress though because the rest of the book had me locked in. One thing about Mel, she is gonna teach her readers about a little known fact or medical condition and I am always here for it. She is also going to make us laugh out loud, which I always do. Aeon and Deck were super cute together and I love how he had good intentions for her from the very beginning. Him and Mama Cetta. I enjoyed reading about this entire cast of characters except Troy and Ariel ... Speaking of- audacity has to have a picture of that fictional chic next to it because she was hot human trash!
Overall, I enjoyed the book but what admittedly irked my nerves was how Midnite went from she to he so often. If it had been just one typo I wouldn't have even brought it up, but this happened chapter after chapter- editing or somebody should have caught that.

Declan and Aeon!!
I love how Mel Dau mixes romance with real life conditions in her books. I had never heard of POTS before, but she took the time to explain Aeon's condition so we could better understand it. Declan never held her condition against her but fell in love with her despite it. Declan's family and friend group also fell in love with Aeon's right along with Declan. They also took the time to learn about Aeon's condition in order for her to live her life as normal as possible while she was with them. The way that Aeon's bestie, Fatima, didn't play about her was just what she needed. I loved, loved, loved Midnite. He had me cracking up with the way that he thought he was human. Like Mel said, he was a whole character. 😂😂 This was a really enjoyable book from the very beginning to the end that I highly recommend.

I love everything Mel Dau!!
This book started with the Declan asking his friends where all the good women were to him and his mama going shopping and him finding his person!!
Declan and Aeon’s love story was perfectly written. Aeon started this book being betrayed by her boyfriend and ended it with the love of her life. And I loved reading every moment of it!
Mel always like to educate us about something in her story, so to watch Declan and his friends research and discuss Aeon’s medical condition and then instantly make her part of the crew and protect her at all costs. I couldn’t get enough of it.
This book definitely reminded me that your person is out there somewhere and will love you the way they are supposed to. Please add this to your TBR, you will absolutely love this book!

📚 Pulse of True Soul Mates by Mel Dau
Mel Dau always delivers when it comes to representation, and the way POTS disease was portrayed in this story was outstanding. Aeon’s struggle with her condition felt real, seen, and handled with care.
Ariel as a mother was… a lot. Leaving Aeon with her father because she wasn’t ready to be a mom added another layer of emotional complexity to Aeon’s story. But what really made this book special was Declan. He came in and showed Aeon that someone genuine will come along and love you correctly—condition and all.
And let me say this: Aeon’s friends and Declan’s mother did not play about her. That kind of support system makes all the difference, and I loved seeing her protected and uplifted.
Overall, this was a cute, heartfelt short read.

This was a quick audio book read. I love that with Mel Dau she is always going to give a medical condition or disability rep in her books. This one follows the FMC Aeon who has POTS, a heart condition that causes her heart rate to increase and at risk of fainting. Not everyone can handle someone with a medical condition, and you learn that in the prologue.
When the FMC meets the MMC Declan, she was in the middle of one of her episodes. While he was not knowledgeable, I loved how he reacted and how helpful and gentle he was with her.
Love Aeon best friend and how she stood 10 toes deep for her. Also love how Declan's mother became a mother figure to Aeon, especially when you learn about her own relationship with her mother.
Overall really enjoy the audiobook, I wish it was a bit longer and we got more of Aeon & Declan dating before it got to the spice.

Yes to the POTS representation! The prologue had me thinking this would not be my kinda story but I was very wrong! Aeon just aint know her soulmate was not a white man that didn’t care about her. Mrs. Princetta is just like every black mama bossing their kid around no matter how old they are, but she was the whole reason Aeon and Declan met and stayed in contact. I loved how Declan cared for and considered Aeon ( & Midnight) in everything he brought them both into. The interaction with Aeon;s dad told me he was a real man and would do what he needed to always make sure she was good. Add her mama to the growing list of book moms that need to catch a beatdown! The writing was good and the Audiobook performance gave what it needed to. I love a short but impactful story!

A Real Life Situation Can Change The Way You Live.
Mel Dau what a beautiful read. You always touch on topics that are taboo in some places. To know when you're different people will look at you like you're an alien and if they deal with you they can get it as well.
To see the growth and learning to trust someone was such a beautiful thing. I just love watching a real man take care of what they loves. Having friends and family who protect and love unconditionally. I love how this played out. As always a great read🤗🤗🤗🤗🤨🤨

Absolutely Amazing Read
Troy and his family were trifling! He received his karma for what he did to Aeon. Aeon received everything she deserved and more. Meeting Declan during one of her episodes happened to be one of the best times of her life. Declan became very interested in Aeon and her health immediately. Their relationship moved fast, healthy, and freely. They fell in love beautifully. Fatima found someone as well. Aeon's dad was impressed with his new son and in-laws. Ariel was selfish and wouldn't change. This was a remarkable read!

cute read but fire your editor!
I always love a good Mel Dau read. The storyline’s give you just enough. But baby the one thing that is pulling me away is the editing or lack thereof. Listen I still don’t know if Midnite is a boy or a girl. The text varied from he to she to fur daughter. Child I’m confused. Simple things like this blows my reading experience because it makes it seem like here’s your content so read it. But, don’t short change your readers like this, especially when you have a nice pen game. I’m rooting for you! Please look into a new editor. 🥹🙏🏾

Mel Dau is going to educate you every time. This book focused on POTS and being loved truly through it.
Aeon had her heart broken first by her mother, then the butt hole. However, her bestie and father had her six. Let's not forget about Midnight. That dog was a riot. In comes Declan, who theoretically said, "Hold my beer." The way he loved our girl and took the time to learn and ask questions to better assist. Chef's kiss.
This is worth the read.

I loved this book. I loved the spin the author brought awareness to a disability BUT showed how mistreatment from one “man” can turn into being loved on by another man (Declan). Listen Aeon had a crew that didn’t play about her. The unfortunate moment when Aeon ended up in the hospital and Declan just went for asking his question to her so was sweet. Ms. 843 (Mel Dau) brings a fire book every time!

I loved it
Mel D. does it again. The way she brings in real life issues and make them a feel good happy ending romance is everything. Her development of characters make it seem like you are right in the story with them and they are your best friends. Deck was definitely the man for Aeon she needed his love attention and dedication to her health more than she knew. These was funny, adorable and a cute way to bring awareness to the forefront.
