It’s safe to say that I am a fan of Devin’s stories. After reading A Flock of Crows I knew I would enjoy Calling All Hollows. And I was right!
With a huge range of stories that will speak to a huge number of phobias (creepy crawlies, cramped and dark spaces, being buried alive, and mountainside accidents to name but a few), each story is jam packed with tension, surprises, gore, and chilling storylines. I will give a special shout out to Itsy Bitsy (I’ll give you three guesses what that is about): I could feel my skin crawling, feel the darkness, and smell the must. A truly creepy and atmospheric read. Fans of Devin’s previous work will find a bonus Easter Egg story featuring a certain mallet-wielding lunatic, as well as a heap of new stories to get excited about. Each story is well-paced, I flew through each one. I wish some of them had been longer, to give the story a bit more development, and I think the title story needed a little more oomph to it, but this is really a great collection that deserves every bit of praise that it gets. Devin really knows how to construct a short story, and throughout this collection you can tell that you are in the hands of a pro.
Devin Cabrera has treated us to another wild collection of stories. Do you like yetis? How about zombies? Or just where the actual minsters are humans? Whatever you like, this book has it! I loved the combinations and all the crazy stories inside.
If you are a horror fan searching for stories that will keep you up, shiver, and smile wickedly at every surprise, ‘Calling All Hollows’ is your next must-read. Switch off the lights, grab this book, and let Devin Cabrera guide you into the eerie unknown - just make sure you don’t read it alone. The collection features everything from fiery eight-legged monsters to the haunting chapter ‘Calling All Hollows.’ One particularly intriguing story introduces the infamous character from Jones 1963—the top hat man—adding a nostalgic yet terrifying touch for longtime fans of the genre. ‘Calling All Hollows: And Other Short Stories’ by Devin Cabrera is a spine-tingling collection that every horror enthusiast should have on their shelf. If you love stories that send chills down your spine and keep you peeking into the shadows, this book is tailor-made for those late nights when you’re craving a thrill. Each tale is like a dare at midnight, urging you to keep turning the page even while your heart pounds and your imagination runs wild. Some doors are best left closed, and some whispers in the dark are meant for other ears. By the time you finish this collection, you might just wonder if something is standing behind you - watching, waiting, calling all hollows. Are you brave enough to answer?
Devin did it again with a fantastic collaboration of short stories to creep you out!!
