Highland Healing

Rate this book
Agnes Carmichael knew pain. It wasn’t the kind of pain where friends tell you it can always be worse. No, Agnes lived the torture which people used as examples about what the worst is.

Losing her husband, daughter and eventually her mother in an accident, she’s left with loathsome in-laws who hold her responsible for her current hell. Agnes needs a break from the constant, overwhelming pain of her memories, the torture of her loneliness and the hate of her in-laws.

Enter her best friend suddenly needing her for a change.

When Heather’s father Fergus falls and breaks his leg, Agnes offers to take care of him, so Heather doesn’t miss out on the career opportunity of a lifetime. Despite Heather’s warnings the Scottish Highlands in May won’t be a beach vacation, Agnes feels the call of the misty mountains almost as much as the longing to be needed, even if it’s by a cranky old farmer.

Agnes doesn’t count on Fergus’ neighbor being crankier than him.

Farlan MacDougall doesn’t care if the world hates him. He hates it right back. When his neighbor’s new nursemaid interferes with his son, he’s ready to send her back to America and he’s unbothered if it’s in one piece.

Then he learns the truth. She just may be a sorrier soul than he is. Chip by chip they will break down the walls which sorrow has built and build their lives back up, together with the help of the healing Highlands.

Lovely Journey to Healing and Love

I really enjoyed this book, and it touched all the right nerves. The beginning had me in tears and the ending had a huge smile on my face! Realistic, loveable yet flawed & slightly broken characters make for a wholesome story. The themes of loss, grief and healing are all honestly explored. Love in the platonic, romantic, and familial forms are represented beautifully, and there's plenty of steam along the way too. (Honestly this steamy tale was tame for our fearless author). I truly loved all the main characters & laughed at their banter.

Looks like Tatienne Richard has done it again!!

Perfect, Just Perfect

If you like a story with a loyal mmc and a strong, sassy fmc, then this book is for you.
A story with a roller coaster of emotions with main characters feeling heartache from a previous relationship and finding comfort in each other.
I would recommend this book again and again, I would also recommend Bribing the Billionaire and Unsportsman like Conduct with Coach Paxon by TatienneRichard. Both are similar in style.

Hooked from first page!

As always fantastic writing and story. I can never read enough of tatienne's books! Highly recommend if you want a HEA with a gruff but sweet Hero and a strong and resilient heroine. Plenty of humour sprinkled in through out the story too.
