This is Book 3 in the Tales of Uncertainty series, preceded by Knot in Time and Abandon Hope.

As a member of the Heisenberg family, I was taught to value analytics and the doctrines of logical thought. The life I’ve led for the past year or more, however, has been one that makes Dorothy’s Oz look like a sedate convention of elderly physicists.

Now, a bit like that lost and forlorn Kansas girl, I’m on a mission to bring a scarecrow and a brain together. Only, instead of the scarecrow as a companion, I have the brain. Kim’s core programming is lodged within a sleek, new time machine that is easy on the eyes, but atrocious in the gas mileage department. Nothing short of a load of antimatter will do to get us where we need to go.

Fortunately, our path forward seems as easy to follow as Dorothy’s. Pick up the fuel and get Kim installed in her star. Yet, my experiences as a time traveling agent have shown me one thing above all else.

Even yellow brick roads are littered with cavernous potholes.

Having read the previous adventures in this series, I was looking forward to this installment - and I loved it.

It was great to meet the familiar characters again, as well as new ones in this brilliant fantasy/science fiction adventure. This time, Dare is on an undercover mission and...no spoilers from me.

If you appreciate excellent writing, which brings alive a clever plot and time travel and suspense and twists, turns and surprises, this book is for you.

Highly recommended.

Pretty good ride

Aside from the author's annoying inability to determine the difference between I and me, and how they should be used, it is an entertaining series. Quick moving and easy to read, the only things I could wish for are a few more finishing touches.

The characters are generally clearly drawn and either very likeable or very despicable. The relationships among the main group are satisfying, but I would like more of Bob and Mah T'sang.

I look forward to the next installment!

Better and better

The convoluted string of time traveling adventure continues in Book 3. When it gets too confusing to keep up with, somehow the author knows and gently recaps. Cant wait for Book 4
