One woman’s luck changes in an instant when she hits her head and wakes up in Ireland, in this whimsical, whirlwind romance from USA Today bestselling author Alicia Thompson.

After yet another disastrous date where Jess is too awkward, too earnest, too whatever, she’s ready to put her romantic daydreams aside. Other than an enchanting Irish accent, her latest date is no prince charming. Then the night goes from bad to worse when she’s mugged in the parking lot and hits her head. Hard.

Hard enough that when Jess wakes up, she’s in Ireland.

The first person she meets is Eamonn, a quiet, gruff mechanic. Since Jess is stranded with no passport, cell phone, or way to get home, Eamonn becomes her reluctant knight in shining armor.

Over the next forty-eight hours, they meander through the cobblestone streets of Dublin and explore the Irish countryside, sharing their deepest fears, quiet hopes, and softest aches. It’s a connection that is as electrifying as it is terrifying, because what if Jess falls asleep and Eamonn vanishes like a dream? But a love like this—touched by magic and a little bit of luck—is never quite as it seems.

“I love you,” he said. “All the way, in every possible way.”

This ended up being a completely different reading experience than I expected—softer, stranger, and way more dreamlike. Magical realism isn’t usually my thing at all, but this one did it so well that I barely questioned it; it just felt so hazy and intimate.🫶🏼🫶🏼😌

Jess brought this nervous, rambling, overly earnest energy that made everything feel more real. She asks the questions you’d actually ask & reacts the way a normal person would. There’s something endearing about how unpolished she is.

Eamonn, however, almost single-handedly kept me emotionally invested. 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️ The way he kept coming back to Jess, noticing tiny things about her, caring even when he didn’t really know why… it was oddly tender.

“But I saw those flowers in your hair, and I wanted … I don’t know, I wanted. Your hair looked so soft, and I wanted to know what it would feel like. I wanted to help you, to make something better for you, even if in a small way.”

THISSSS. It was such a small confession but somehow one of the most intimate ones. It made all Eamonn’s actions before that click into place. He wasn’t just helping her out of obligation, he was already emotionally in too deep.

And when the romance actually hit, it HIT. After going through the slow burn of the getting to know each other, it wasn’t too loud or flashy. More like soft and aching and a little desperate.

“He kissed me like I was the dream he didn’t want to wake up from.”

Every moment felt so fragile, almost sad, because you could feel how temporary everything was. 😭

Unfortunately, somewhere in the middle, the pacing MAJORLY started to drag for me. I understood why those slower moments were there—to build the connection—but I could feel myself drifting instead of being completely immersed.

Jess and Eamonn’s connection is the kind that makes you hold your breath, wondering if it’s real or just a moment suspended in time… and honestly, I can’t tell you if it all works out. I guess you’ll just have to read it to find out. 🫣🫠

Overall, this was tender, dreamy, and quietly swoony. Even when the pacing slowed, the soft longing and the way Eamonn cared stuck with me. It’s the kind of story that leaves a faint, wistful feeling, like waking from a really nice dream.😴🩷💜

This book was SO CUTE! The beginning tripped me up a bit bc it starts with her saying something cringe but it quickly became a book I devoured!!!

I am so obsessed with Eamonn. I loved the premise of this! I want to live inside of this book. Alicia hit this out of the park.

The moral of the story is never let anyone gaslight you no matter how insane you sound

**ARC REVIEW**
Thank you Alicia Thompson, Berkley Romance and NetGalley for the free copy in exchange for an honest review

It's so hard to do a review without quoting when the book is this good!
There are so many scenes that were described beautifully with the perfect dialog to match.

This whole book from Jess' bad date to Eamonn's flawless epilogue captured my heart and held onto it. The build up of their evolving relationship from strangers to lovers was the kind of angst I always look forward to in a romance book. Eamonn was *chefs kiss* troubled youth and all
The Molly Malone scene, I wish I could live in this book! The little places he showed her. The man is a dang treasure and Jess is more than worthy of him.

I dont have a single critique on this book and immediately recommended it to my best friend. I cannot wait to buy this for my shelf. The cover is GORGEOUS and after finishing the book it makes it even better (there's a connection). I feel like I fell in love in this book right alongside Eamonn and Jess. Perfection. Absolute beautiful love story perfection.

And now I need to go to Ireland.

After experiencing the worst date of her life, Jess gets mugged on the way to her car. She wakes up in Ireland with an oddly familiar man named Eamonn, and after a failed trip to the embassy, he shows her around the country. Sparks fly… but it’s just a dream, right?

This book is utterly whimsical, and I’m obsessed. Fairies, folklore, poetry, and a hot Irish man? Sign me up! I thought based on the synopsis it would be a little more lighthearted, but I didn’t mind the depth. Jess and Eamonn bare their souls to one another within the first 48 hours of meeting, which I thoroughly enjoyed, though it touches on some heavy topics like grief, family tension, and loneliness.

The setting was delightful, and I loved the “local shows tourist around” vibe — it gave a rich exploration of Ireland through Jess’s eyes. And the romance… chef’s kiss. Eamonn is the sweetest, most tender man ever, with the coziest sweaters. The chemistry and slow burn? Absolutely to die for. There’s a bit of miscommunication early on (I’m a stickler for that), but it’s handled so well and feels very realistic.

This book is perfect for readers who love magical realism and aren’t afraid of a little depth! I’m so glad this was my first read of the year — utterly charming and completely immersive.

As always, I was thrilled to receive a Berkley title. Thank you, Berkley Romance and NetGalley, for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I know this review is WAY too early... but I binged it on Boxing Day.

I’m a little bummed that I read this so far in advance that I have no one to talk to about it. But I’m mostly just grateful I got to read it at all. (When you read it, you'll be asking for my ninety–ten split, but apparently no one in my life is that nerdy.)

This is my second Alicia Thompson book after absolutely inhaling "Never Been Shipped", and they’re very different in tone. Thompson has said "In Every Possible Way" is her least cynical book, and that really comes through. It’s a single-POV romance that keeps its focus tight and trusts the relationship to do the heavy lifting. There’s backstory and a bit of Dublin sightseeing, but the story stays centered on the connection between these two people.

I’m no stranger to magical realism, but this is one of the rare times where the realism is what took my breath away. The setup is interesting—bad date in Florida, wake up in Ireland—but the real power lies in the connection between Jess and Eamonn. He’s a mechanic who’s used to being on his own and doesn’t see himself as particularly heroic. Jess can tell he doesn’t like to get involved, but he helps her anyway. That’s where the real magic lives.

Their time together wandering Dublin felt cozy and tender. Fans of romances set in Ireland will enjoy the recognizable names. They fall for each other as strangers, and somehow it never feels rushed or unbelievable. Eamonn’s quiet, practical care for Jess—drying her off, ordering her food—puts the emphasis on small moments over grand gestures. It doesn’t get too heavy, but it felt so special that I stayed nervous until the author sneaks in a moment about how she hates romances that end in tragedies (phew!).

If you appreciate intimate moments and want to watch two people reshape how they see themselves, this one is absolutely worth your time.

This was a very unique book! Jess, a law office receptionist, spends her 37th birthday on a disastrous first date. To make matters worse, on her way to her car afterwards, she’s mugged on the street and hits her head. When she wakes up, she’s in Ireland, with no idea how she got there. The first person she meets is Eamonn, an auto mechanic with a quiet kindness. Lost and not sure how to get home, Jess enlists the help of Eamonn to get her to the US Embassy in Dublin. The problem is, the embassy is closed for the weekend. The two decide to take advantage of the day and embark on an adventure across Dublin and, subsequently, Ireland. Over the next 48 hours, sparks fly between the two, leaving Jess to question: Is this real life, or is it all just a dream?

I have been a big fan of Alicia Thompson’s books and was so excited to jump into this one. This book was very different from her others, but I loved the tenderness and rawness of it. It was so exciting to read about Jess and Eamonn’s tour of Dublin (and made me want to visit there myself). I loved the deep and authentic conversations that the two shared during their time together. They felt very genuine and really had me rooting for the pair.

Eamonn was such an endearing character. Seeing him open up to Jess about his past made me really tear up. There was a gentleness to him that I don’t often find in many other romance novels, and it was so refreshing to read. This book is one you’ll want to grab if you love deeply emotional romances with a touch of magic.

Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley for the ARC!

One of my favorite things about Alicia Thompson’s writing is that she will do something entirely different from her previous book(s) and her voice will still be so clearly present in her work. And I am such a fan of her voice. ‘In Every Possible Way’ was introspective in such a unique and interesting way. I was completely invested from the very first page and all the way through.

Jess was so deeply relatable. As a character close to my own age, there were a lot of moments that I really connected to how she was feeling about certain things in her life, the things she was worried or anxious about, and the hope she fought to hold onto for herself. The myriad of emotions and self-discovery she had to face under unexplainable conditions said so much about her character, and the way she took that experience with her to shape her life after the fact was beautifully authentic.

Eamonn was my favorite kind of MMC. A bit put out by Jess’s abrupt appearance in his life, reluctantly caring in a way that it’s clear he was intrigued from the very beginning for more reason than her just showing up out of nowhere, and incredibly layered down to his soft, kind heart. He was tender and warm and a genuinely good man in every interaction. He had a flawed history but one that he owned and had learned from. He let his past shape his future in a way he could feel proud of. I loved the dynamic that Eamonn and Jess shared their entire time together. The magical element of the story cemented their inevitability for me and I adored it.

Alicia Thompson can do no wrong by me. Thank you to Berkley for the eARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐/5
Release date: June 23rd, 2026

Blurb: After a disastrous date and a sudden head injury, Jess wakes up inexplicably in Ireland, where she meets Eamonn, a gruff but kind mechanic who helps her while she’s stranded with no way home. Over the course of forty-eight magical hours, the two form an intense, tender connection that blurs the line between fate, fantasy, and reality.

🛑Read on with caution; review may contain spoilers🛑

I was genuinely intrigued by the premise of In Every Possible Way, but unfortunately, the execution didn’t quite land for me. Around the halfway point, I found myself getting bored enough that I seriously considered DNF-ing it.
I’m not usually a fan of magical realism, though I did enjoy Eamonn and Jess’s time together in Ireland—it felt cozy, intimate, and was easily the highlight of the book. Eamonn himself was also a standout; he’s attentive, thoughtful, and very much written as the ideal boyfriend, which I appreciated.
That said, beyond those elements, the story didn’t leave much of a lasting impression. Overall, this was an okay read, but it didn’t particularly stand out among my reads this year and ultimately felt a bit forgettable for me.

In Every Possible Way – Alicia Thompson

Oh my gosh, this book had all the things I love: a touch of magical realism, a whole lot of romance, and IRELAND (I want to go to there!!) Need I say more? Probably not- but I will anyway

I loved getting to see Jess at a point in her life where nothing feels settled. She’s unsure, a little lost, tired of being disappointed, and still brave enough to want love anyway. Eamonn is just as adrift, but in a completely different way and somehow these two are pulled together in a situation that shouldn’t make sense, never really does… and I didn’t care even a little bit

The beginning hooks you immediately- you need to know what’s happening with Jess and from there it’s so easy to fall into this story. It’s soft, funny, quietly magical, and deeply romantic. Jess feels incredibly real: awkward, hopeful, worn down, and full of heart

There’s also a bittersweet undercurrent that makes the romance hit harder, especially knowing that Jess and Eamonn’s time together might be temporary. Their connection feels genuine and earned, which made every moment they shared feel precious.

Big thanks to Berkley Romance & NetGalley for the ARC of this one!
Man, I really love magical realism and this was such a solid, heart-filled read ♥️

One of my favorite book phenomena is when an author I know and love takes a big leap, stylistically; when I trust their talent and am rewarded with a totally fresh reading experience. Alicia Thompson is an auto-read writer for me, and IN EVERY POSSIBLE WAY totally knocked me out (pun intended). When Jess is mugged after a particularly bad date, she finds herself in unexpected territory - Ireland, to be specific - with no idea how she got there. A friendly mechanic named Eamonn becomes her de facto Dublin tour guide, who is drawn to her in a way he can't quite explain. What follows is a lovely depiction of those effervescent, I'm-gonna-die-if-I-don't-touch-you-but-what-if-I-never-see-you-again whirlwind romances that you're lucky to get once in a lifetime. As a die-hard BEFORE SUNSET trilogy and SLIDING DOORS fan, this was an absolute pleasure. Thompson's characters are real and rough around the edges, her prose is sharp and funny, and the moments of connection between Jess and Eamonn shimmer off the page. (Also - more main characters in their late thirties/forties, plz!) This is a book that's (sorry) impossible to ignore. <3

Thank you to the publisher for an advanced copy; all thoughts are my own!

📖 Book Review 📖 When I was nineteen, I was lucky enough to live a dream of mine and study abroad at Trinity College Dublin. Luckily I planned ahead, knew my program, picked my roommate, and was prepared for the adventure of a lifetime. Jess is not so fortunate.

Culture shock is real; it’s a whole new level when you are transported to Ireland after a horrible date and a mugging that knocks you out cold. The luck of the Irish is on her side when Eamonn is kind enough to reluctantly take her under his wing and help her out in this foreign land.

While the chances of an unexpected and unexplained jaunt to the Emerald Isle are slim, Alicia Thompson delivers a compelling read that reminds us that magic is real. It becomes far too easy to leave our imagination behind in childhood but sometimes it takes something drastic to find that spark again. In Every Possible Way is that little gentle nudge to take that trip, go after that lifelong dream, and fall in love. Sometimes change happens in a way we least expect it…

This is a story you can’t help but devour in one sitting. A magic realism book brought to you by Alicia Thompson. It was deeply romantic, poetic and such a compelling story.

I love that we get to see Jess unsure in her life, having very little figure out and Eamonn someone just as lost but in a different way, somehow are brought together in a way that should never make sense. Their connection jumped off the pages from the very beginning. I love getting to discover more of these while they discover each other. The tension was to die for and I love that even though this is told from Jess’ POV we get so much of Eamonn.

I love getting to venture around Ireland with these two and I felt my emotions mirrored with Jess in this story.

I absolutely adored this, a must read for anyone loving a slow and cozy romance. The magic you can feel intertwined with these pages will have me thinking of these two for such a long time.

oh my goodness, i genuinely don’t even know what to say other than alicia has done it yet again.

this book was devastatingly beautiful in every sense of the word. i loved how different it felt from her other books and how truly unique the storyline was. getting mugged after a terrible date, falling into a coma, and then waking up in ireland outside the garage of your date’s brother??? absolutely wild in the best way.

i found myself completely wrapped up in the journey between these two. i imagined every moment of their sightseeing right alongside them. i didn’t want their time together to end and i truly could feel that looming sense of sadness knowing it eventually would.

jess and eamonn’s connection was so warm and heartfelt, exactly what the story needed. these characters were written so beautifully, and i truly loved every single moment spent with them.

I’ve read all of this author’s books and they’re all decent, and for the most part have been getting better. So I figured I’d jump on this one from NetGalley as soon as I got it.

OK, let’s be honest — I was suckered in by the cover. Plus it’s one of those ~*~magical~*~ rom coms — the premise being that Jess hits her head and wakes up in Ireland.

It’s another of those “goddammit now I have the song in my head” books with lyrics for a title. They typically drive me nuts, but at least this is a great song. Fit the mood of the book, too, as it’s really just 2 people hanging out and talking. It’s a melancholy kind of book — but I don’t mean sad, more introspective and quiet? Like, not a lot happens, but it’s all cozy and sweet. And A+ smuttiness.

Maybe it all just fit my mood since it was the holiday season and I was taking a train to/from NYC — it really was a perfect pairing.

I feel like this book was kind of a mixed bag for me. I really like magical realism when it’s done well, and the idea of Jess hitting her head and suddenly waking up in Ireland is super fun and whimsical. But for me, the execution didn’t totally land. The “is this magic or not?” angle sometimes pulled me out of the story instead of drawing me in.

That said, the chemistry between Jess and Eamonn was genuinely great. Their quiet little moments wandering around Dublin and the countryside were sweet and heartfelt, and I loved how open they were with each other. As a romance, it worked. I just wasn’t completely sold on the magical realism layer wrapped around it.

So overall, it was a good romance, just okay as a whole read for me. Cute, cozy vibes, some really lovely moments, but not quite a favorite.

Thank you to NetGalley, Alicia Thompson, and Berkley for the eARC of this book.

This story has two distinct parts - the romance between Eamonn and Jess, and the fantastical plot where Jess is mugged in Florida and wakes up in Dublin after going on a date with Eamonn's brother. The romance was fantastic. Both characters were beautifully complex and willing to grow, and their chemistry was palpable and came off the page. The magical realism aspect, however, was not for me. What is wrong with a normal romance plot these days? Why are we throwing in a random magical element that is not really explained and was solely unnecessary? If you are going to add something like this you gotta either have a more complete magical vibe or do some kind of world building or explanation. Maybe I am just not a magical realism type of girl, but this portion of the story was not my jam. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

I'm always down to read anything magical realism, especially since this felt in the same vein as Ashley Poston / Rachel Linden / Kirsty Greenwood. And it was like a warm hug just like all those listed authors. I felt protective and attached to Jess from the beginning and it was a nice change of pace to have an 'older' FMC. This was heartfelt and soft and can fulfill all your Hallmark needs! I think Alicia really hit her stride with this one and should explore this sub-genre more! Perfect balance of romance / plot and felt a lot like a Rachel Linden novel in terms of focusing on the character growth and less on the romance / smut but still had open door scenes unlike Rachel's books.

Another romantic spin on magical realism brings us Jess and Eamonn. I enjoyed these two coming together.

I liked how they are a bit of the yin and yang to one another; Jess has been very structured, by the book, stay out of anyone’s way which holds her back from living and Eamonn is a reformed wild child, who keeps to himself/keeps his head down after ruffling too many feathers which has taken away his ability to enjoy the life he has built for himself with a second chance.

Jess is a romantic. She actually overly romanticizes, which made it hard to connect with her character because it bordered on blind optimism to immaturity. However, this quirk pulls Eamonn in to her orbit even further.

I appreciated how the age gap wasn’t a constant focus, and loved their HEA even more.

Thank you Berkley and NetGalley for this eARC.

Man, I love magical realism. This was such a solid book. The premise was amazing, the characters were relatable yet unique, and the combination of those two things really made the book. Plussss making the setting in Ireland?! AHHHHH. I enjoyed how Jess and Eamonn got to know each other. Even though the Ireland part of the book took less than 4 days, the author spaced it out enough that it didn’t feel rushed. I really liked how everything was resolved at the end.

This is my 2nd book from Alicia Thompson, and this book has solidified how great an author she is. I can’t wait for the book to come out so I can see fanart of the characters!!

Really enjoyed this magical, joyful ride! The characters were easy to root for, their romance and unanswered mystery - but sometimes mysteries mar life fun! Make it whimsical and exciting!

The pacing through me a bit, couldn’t quite figure out how long we were in Ireland until more than halfway when we find out it’s been a few days and not a SINGLE day the way I thought. Maybe that was a me issue…unsure.

I love how they reunite, that’s always something that weighs heavily on my final opinion of a book and the way it’s done here was just lovely and felt really well earned!!

This book was a little bit of magic, but a lot of real love! Jess has had bad luck in love. After another failed date, things get worse when she falls and hits her head. But then, she wakes up in Ireland. There she meets Eamann, and as romances do, things go from there. Except she's never been to Ireland, and she knows this isn't real except it FEELS like it s. This was a good blend of a developing love story while also having that lingering question of "What's going to happen?' that kept me reading. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the look at this June 2026 release.
