Beautiful, devious imperial physician Lin Qingyu has reunited with his husband, Gu Fuzhou. That leaves Lin Qingyu plenty of time to work against his archenemy, Crown Prince Xiao Cheng. Soon, Lin Qingyu uncovers Xiao Cheng’s deepest secret—one that could ruin the prince. Yet the only piece of evidence Lin Qingyu can put forward is a purple silk belt. Could such a humble item really interfere with an ascension to the throne, or will Lin Qingyu’s loathing of Xiao Cheng lead him to overplay his hand?
Gu Fuzhou likewise faces a daunting choice as Great Yu continues to fight a war in the northwest, and the nation’s troops face increasingly grueling and grim circumstances. Everyone in court—and in the northwest—understands that victory is only possible if Great General Gu returns to the front. But Gu Fuzhou barely survived his last tour of duty. Does he dare leave the capital for the northwest, knowing that Lin Qingyu could be widowed again?
*MINOR SPOILER* (It's pretty much in the title if you decode it)
I wanted this book to be my first read of 2026 and i expected my first read to be full of fluff and tooth-decaying cute.
This book was everything I wanted but holy fuck, ts made me bawl my eyes out even though I knew that what happened was not the final outcome. Nevertheless, It was a very fun read.
As the saying goes, Couples who do bad TOGETHER, stay and cherish together or smth. So cunning, scheming, devious and crafty (not complaining )😂😂
salted fish is now one of my favourite danmeis of all time. it's so silly without being too simple, so funny while unexpectedly romantic and charming, and it's such a refreshing read. the fact that i pulled out the chinese version to read because I WANTED TO KNOW WHAT THEY WERE SAYING IN MANDARIN and that very rarely happens. but they're so damn cute! and romantic! when i think about it, this book is literally j**** x*** because it made me love lin qingyu so much. effective lin qingyu propaganda.
man what the hell…. i think i just experienced every emotion on the human spectrum 😭😭 this was my favorite installment i loved gu fuzhou i loved how their relationship progressed and i loved the politics and i LOVE jiang xing’s 3rd transmigration it’s so perfect i’m so happy it’s only onwards and upwards from here!!
(marking this up to the end of ch109 which i assume is also going to be the end of vol3)
