Following a deadly deployment, Abel is determined to leave the military and traumatic memories behind. Returning to his hometown of Kansas City, he realizes that leaving the uniform behind doesn’t do the same for memories. A brief encounter in a café leads Abel down a fresh path, one that helps soothe the darker parts of his mind. As he combats the past, he meets Stacy Reynolds, a radio personality who is a shining light; one that attracts both Abel and those seeking to ruin him. With the growing danger, Abel is compelled to seek help from someone who holds him accountable for the deployment’s outcome.
🔥 From page one, this book doesn’t hold back—it dives straight into the spice and never lets up! The characters and their interactions are absolutely fantastic. Stacy is the ultimate bada$$ FMC, and Abel completely stole my heart. He’s been through so much, yet his resilience and fight shine through every page.
I especially loved how Abel was portrayed as a military veteran dealing with PTSD—it felt raw, respectful, and so well done.
The spice? 🌶️🌶️🌶️💫 A solid 3.5 peppers—enough to heat things up without ever taking away from the plot.
Overall, this was such a fun and addictive read. It’s an easy 5-star rating from me, and I’m already counting down the days until the next one!
This story resonated with me a lot in that Abel dealing with PTSD and not finding a decent outlet or place for help. The flashbacks were well done and described very good. I liked how the author incorporated environmental sounds and situations throwing him back to situations. Very realistic and exactly what has happened to my own husband. The character development and overall story was good and I liked how Stacy grounded him. I would have liked to have learned more of her story, you know there's a story to be told there, more than was said. All in all I'm looking forward to more in this series.
I can't even pretend to know what these vets go through. but I've seen the trauma it causes when they come back from war. some adjust better than others, some not at all. Abel struggled when he got home, thinking being away from the military he be able to put that behind him. but that wasn't the case. especially when he suffers from PTSD. This book goes hard. and boy did it bring on the spice! whew! 🥵 Stacey is an awesome FMC and really brings the heat with Abel. This story brought twists, turns, chaos, danger. it was packed full of ask the things you want in a good book.
I feel like this book was twist after twist! This story started off with a bang. It was instant lust and instant spice. It highlighted the trauma the MMC endured, but also the healing process. I loved our FMC. She was so confident and fierce. There was a point when you realized who the villains of the story were, but you'd never guess what makes them have a common enemy. I finished this story incredibly fast and enjoyed every second of it!
ever wondered what it would be like to be fresh out of the special ops? this book gives you a little insight what it could be like, the trauma the scare, but that isn't all you get with this book you get a love story and kidnapping and so so much more. I really enjoyed this book. Really well written.
PTSD is such a difficult thing to deal with as a military person, and Abel has this in spades. I loved watching him work his way through it and finding someone to help him heal. This book has so much to offer with that as well as a bit of suspense on the side. The characters are lovable and makes you route for them the whole way. Definitely an enjoyable read.
