At forty-eight, Nia Crawford is finally ready to live life on her terms. Fresh from a bitter divorce, she buys a struggling winery in Northern California, a bold move for a former financial planner who knows more about balance sheets than grape varietals.
Jacob Whitaker has spent his career helping small businesses find their footing, but his own life took a quieter turn after the end of a marriage that looked perfect from the outside. When he's hired to help Nia save Royal Oak Vineyard, neither expects anything more than a professional relationship.
But as shared goals turn into lingering conversations and wine tastings stretch long past sunset, something tender begins to take root. In a season of second chances, Nia and Jacob must decide if they're brave enough to risk their hearts on a love that's worth the wait.
A contemporary African American romance about finding love, building dreams, and discovering that the best vintages—like the deepest connections—are worth every moment of patience.
Perfect for readers who love later-in-life romance, second chances, and vineyard settings.
This story was the perfect pallette cleanser after finishing something dark and heavy. Nia and Jacob are my new favorite book couple! This story was so grown and relatable. The characters were fleshed out well and the story was so well written, it left you rooting for these two people and excited to see where their journey takes them next. And most importantly, it is such an awesome representation of black love. It's the perfect story to cozy up with on a rainy day with a glass of wine. Nia got me up here wanting to try my hand at making a charcuterie board. 😆 This was so good, y'all. Support this amazing author so she'll keep churning out great stories like these.
Sable Janay truly excels at crafting deeply redemptive and heartfelt stories! This has officially become my favorite read of hers. I loved how she avoided predictable ‘Hallmark’ tropes and delivers a refreshing mix of complex family dynamics and the raw independent journey of a woman finding her way. Honestly fam, navigating this crazy life is a journey, right?
In a world obsessed with instant gratification, this story is a breath of fresh air. It’s a beautifully paced, slow-burn romance that reminds us that starting over is possible and true love is definitely worth waiting for. 11/10 rating!
A definite must read. I so enjoyed reading about Jacob & Nia. I love the way he loved her. So much better than that idiot of an ex-husband. He was like a cancer. I was hoping someone would give him an old-fashioned beat down.
I enjoyed the entire Still Got It Series. Thank you, Sable Janay. I'm looking forward to reading more of your work. GB
Although Nia and Jacob’s story had a slow start, everything happened just as it should. I enjoy the author’s attention to detail and the research she does to cultivate the best stories. As always, this book didn’t miss.
THIS was a great later in life romance featuring characters in their 50s. I loved the slow burn with some spice. I adored the flawless way Sable painted a realistic romance with real life. I'd read her books again. I finished this in one day.
