Starbound Souls

Rate this book
The king has used me to destroy the world, and now I will get my revenge.

It’s been six months since I watched my mate die, since the king took me and, with my sister, manipulated my power to obliterate cities. But everything changes when my mates finally find me.

The world is broken, the Gods are twisted, and my Nexus is out for blood. The king thought breaking me would make me a weapon. He was right—just not the kind he expected. I was born to be a monster, but my mates never saw me as one. They saw a partner. An equal. Their mate. A reason to fight. With my mates, we will stop the immortal king once and for all.

The cost may be too high…but we have nothing left to lose.

We came from starlight and were made into Gods…and we will not be stopped.

Starbound Souls is a dark romantasy full of irresistible tension and dangerous desire. Dive into a story teeming with growly alpha shifters, rejected mates, forced proximity, and electrifying “touch her and die” moments. This is a tale where love is fierce, bonds are unbreakable, and monsters lurk just beneath the skin. This is the final book for Gwen and her mates.

uumnmm…..

So spoilers friends. Did I miss in the last book where Rhodes was forgiven? Cause we start here with love notes and I missed you. For someone who betrayed her last book I’m a little shook it’s fine now. Also the thing with onyx and severi was not nearly explored enough. They’re connected now? To what end? Can they leave each others sides? For how long? It totally felt like 6 people were too many mates to keep up with. Finn, Alek and onyx were really watered down and hardly present. I was excited to see how Hollis and Franklin fit into this story for it to barely be a couple paragraphs at the end!
After waiting for this book I mean what a let down. Also it seemed wrapped up nicely but there’s another book? For what? For who? Cause the blurb at the end sounded like a whole new story. Idk man.

Enjoyment:⭐⭐⭐⭐
Writing:⭐⭐.5
Characters:⭐⭐⭐.5
Plot:⭐⭐⭐
Romance:⭐⭐⭐.5

I still kind of had a good time, but this wasn't good, it was very underwhelming.

Plot-wise, it seems like we got a summary of the book, not the actual book. There were a lot of time jumps and recounting what happened instead of being present for the action.

Also, my opinion that having over 4 MMCs is too much to allow for good relationship buildup with all of them still stands. There were editing issues as well because of that, and instances of forgetting where they are in the scene or mixing them up.

Starborn fury, shattered worlds, and mates who would burn it all down

If you’re looking for soft and gentle… this is not that book. This is rage wrapped in starlight, grief sharpened into a weapon, and a heroine who’s done asking for permission.

Gwen is devastating. Six months of loss, manipulation, and being turned into a literal weapon? Yeah… she doesn’t come back the same. And honestly? Good. Watching her lean into that darkness instead of running from it was everything. She’s not just reclaiming her power—she’s redefining it.

And her men? Finn, Severi, Onyx, Hollis, Rhodes, and Alek are not here to tame her… they’re here to stand beside her while she sets the world on fire 🔥 Each of them brings their own intensity, but the way they see Gwen—not as something broken, but as their equal—adds this emotional depth that hits just as hard as the action.

This book delivers:
✨ Unhinged revenge energy
✨ “Touch her and die” x1000
✨ Broken bonds reforged into something stronger
✨ Gods, monsters, and morally gray everything
✨ A final battle that feels earned

The romance? Fierce. The tension? Constant. The stakes? Sky-high and then some.

And that ending? It doesn’t just close the story—it explodes it into something unforgettable.

If you love your romantasy dark, your heroines powerful and a little terrifying, and your men completely obsessed… Starbound Souls will own you.

Ugh! I can't believe it's over. Starbound Souls is the conclusion to Gwen's story, and it was amazing. It's less than two hundred pages, so I knocked this one out fairly quickly. I smiled, I laughed, and I may have even teared up a little bit. Who knew that I would feel sad for Georgina of all people? It was for, like, a millisecond, but still. Everything came together perfectly and with little angst. Gwen was an absolute badass. I couldn't help but picture that meme of Daniel Craig dancing; that was Gwen as she basically strolled through this book-handling business. I loved the progress she's made. Gwen learned to lean on others and is finally accepting all of who she is. It was good to see.

The ending was so satisfying. Everything got wrapped up in a pretty bow. My questions were answered, and the romance was excellent. I enjoyed the sweet moments between Gwen and the guys. Things turned out better for them than I could have hoped for. Franklin had a few cameos. He was so precious and made a great addition to the group. Speaking of the group, Annie continues to be a pivotal character until the very end. Her and Gwen's friendship only continues to get stronger.

I can't believe it's over, but it was incredible. The twist was epic! I honestly forgot about what was happening until that moment. Gwen stepped into her power and got her HEA. There was a nice surprise at the end. Bailey hinted at a connection, and now I want more. Speaking of more, the Nexus series is getting another book. I can't wait to get my greedy hands on Cosmic Fates.

Very rushed and unfulfilling. Loose ends were just being tied up without emotional impact.

This series has so much potential in the beginning! Book one really blew me away, then felt books 2-4 got progressively worse as they went on. The plot became muddled, the "twists" felt underwhelming, the bonds felt more and more forced, the new characters didn't add much of anything. This last book was... okay? I genuinely enjoy reading about these characters but I felt this story could have used more development/ fine tuning maybe? It felt like a puzzle where not all the pieces ended up in the right spot, ya know? There were a lot of times we were repeating the same thing over and over (about the stars and where they came from, the gods okaying with them, their destinies, how her childhood was so terrible, yada yada), that really took away from the impact I think these statements were trying to make? Each one of the giant cliff hangers felt so brushed under the rug in the next book, it made them feel forced and disingenuous to the overall flow of the series as whole. Overall this series has potential to be great but ultimately wasn't executed to its fullest potential.

This book in general felt rushed and sloppy. Book 4 left us thinking Onxy was dead and Gwen was captured. We jump into this book and its been 6 months or Gwen destroying the world at the Vian Kongs command with her sister and they guys can't find her? She endlessly tortured but can feel no trauma because of her childhood... okay than. Then we quickly kill of her sister with literally a box?! Thats all it took? Then we keel some gods like the snap of our fingers? What? How can we kill a bunch of gods like ots nothing but still have to build up this foght with just one jerk? When the final fight happened it was so anticlimactic... ugh, Im just glad to see Glen and her guys live happily ever after I guess. Not sure ill be picking up the spin offs after this.

Overall series: 3/5 ⭐️ (only because book 1 was amazing and 5 was okay)
Book: 3/5 ⭐️ (generous 3)
Spice: 3/5 🌶 (best part of these books?)

If vengeance had a heartbeat, it would sound exactly like this book.

Let’s talk about Starbound Souls by G. Bailey because this isn’t just a story… it’s an emotional battlefield wrapped in cosmic power, shattered love, and the kind of rage that burns galaxies.

This book plunges you straight into devastation. No gentle warm-up. No soft landing. Just grief, destruction, and a heroine who has nothing left to lose, which, let’s be honest, is exactly when things get deliciously dangerous.

Our girl isn’t your typical “strong female lead.” She’s weaponized grief. She’s been used, twisted, and forced to destroy entire cities, and the guilt? Oh, it lingers.

But here’s the magic: she doesn’t just survive it… she becomes something else entirely.

And the way her identity shifts from pawn to something far more dangerous is perfection.

Emotional. Chaos. Her mates aren’t passive love interests standing on the sidelines. They fight for her not to control her, not to fix her, but to stand beside her. Equal. Partner. Mate.

And that distinction? It hits hard.

Everything feels vast, dangerous, and just slightly unhinged. You’re not reading a fantasy, you’re surviving it alongside the characters.

There’s something deeply satisfying about watching a villain realize far too late that the monster he made is coming back for him.

In Starbound Souls, grief doesn’t just hurt it reshapes her, turning her into something sharper and more dangerous. Her stolen power becomes a brutal, hard-won reclamation, and every step forward feels like a fight for herself. Her mates don’t try to soften her edges, they meet her in the darkness and choose her anyway.

Starbound Souls is the fifth and final installment in Gwen and her mates’ story in The Nexus Series by G. Bailey.

What an incredible journey this has been. I’ve been hooked since the very first book, and this final installment wrapped everything up beautifully. The world-building was rich and completely captivating. I truly felt like I was stepping into a whole new world with every page.

Gwen turned out to be everything I knew she would be: fearless, strong, powerful, confident, and so deeply loved.

Onyx, Finnegan, Rhodes, Hollis, Aleksander, and Severi 🖤 our growling dark Alphas, I’m going to miss them so much. Watching them grow into incredible men and become such a strong, united group was amazing. The way they love Gwen is fierce, intense, and just a little obsessive… exactly the way I like it.

The side characters were just as great, Annie is the perfect sister, and I loved how much depth they all brought to the story.

Thank you, G., for the eARC and for creating such an unforgettable world. I’m already looking forward to the spin-off, Cosmic Fates, which takes us back into their lives a few years after the end of Starbound Souls. I can’t wait for December 26.

Add it to your TBR if you love:
- Why Choose
- Growly Alpha Shifters
- Rejected Mates
- Forced Proximity
- Touch Her and Die ☠️

Some of my favorite quotes 🖤

“I’ve missed you, Sun. It’s been dark without you.”

“Death would never part us, Gwen. Our Nexus have been mates in every lifetime, in every world and every soul. Our love was destined, fated, long before we ever existed in the world.” His eyes bore into mine with the truth. “We will always be together, no matter if our hearts beat in this lifetime or the next.”

“We follow you to the stars where we once came from.”

“We are forever starlight.”

I felt that this book could have been better.
To start with, it was very fast paced and rushed. I didn't like the writing too, I thought it was a bit shallow and very repetitive in terms of in a small book, every other page it's them just saying the same thing over and over again. The dialogue was so bad I had to skip a few paragraphs, it feels not like a conversation but more like they're detailing their feeling and actions, hated it
It's been a time since I've read the other books of this series, and it makes me question, was the writing this bad??
I feel that the first books of this series were better, I loved them really, but these last two books ,I could not appreciate them enough.
To summarize, good plot but bad writing, very rushed, the quality of the series has decreased tremendously, repetitive paragraphs, very poor dialogue.
And so, I find that ,if the books were longer and the plot was slower and though trough better, I would love them and give it more stars. But overall I was disappointed really

Starbound Souls was a fantastic story, and I devoured it from beginning to end. This book picks up where the previous book left off with Gwen being used by both the Vian King and her twin Georgina. I don't want to give too much away but Gwen isn't the only captive that is tortured, traumatized, abused and used. However, she does handle it better than Feyre and she's determined to have her revenge with her mates. There are some secrets revealed in this story regarding Severi & Onyx and Onyx & Addie. This story has death & destruction, power, reunions, trauma, revenge, forgiveness, hope, steamy scenes, laugh out loud moments and more. Not only do when get Gwen & her mates happy ending but we also get a happy ending for Annie & Issan. This story ends with a bit of a cliffhanger regarding Juniper but it's more of if you want to continue with the series there will be another book or you can end with having a HEA for the main characters.

So I loved this series, but sadly the finale for Gwen and her mates fell a bit short for me unfortunately!

I love a good HEA which I’m glad everyone got in the end, but there are a few things that felt missing to me/ a bit off:

• Hollis and Gwen seemed to make up quite quickly after his betrayal. There wasn’t much explanation to that, and I personally would’ve liked a bit more there (give us some good old grovelling!!)

• Alek, Onyx and somewhat Severi hardly got a look in. I think we glazed over what actually happened to Onyx too. We got a brief explanation, but it didn’t go into him meeting one of the gods after what happened in book 4… or maybe I missed that?

• The battle with the Vian King felt incredibly rushed and not super high stakes. Yes, Gwen’s nexus is incredibly strong, but it just felt like it all happened so fast

Generally felt like a few key things were glossed over and the pacing was very quick, but nonetheless it was a fun and easy read.

I probably rate this as the last book I liked from this series. The characters just felt off at the beginning to middle? It was just dialogue/statements on what is going to/is happening and no feelings or depth between the characters. Maybe there was a little bit between Hollis and Gwen (when they were on the beach in Mexico) but that’s about it. The last part was better like the other books. Georgina and the Vian king died so easily too. I wished both at least suffered somewhat for what they did. Each just had a page or two on their death. It wasn’t enough for the main storyline. That and how the gods were killed too. At least Gwen got her happy ending (for now). Will we get a crossover with Bloodstone Academy with Juniper since she is mentioned? Dante sounds like he may be one of the four horsemen? That’s just a wild guess…

This is the last book in the Nexus Series with Gwen and her mates.

We pick up where book 4 left us, Onyx's fate unknown, Gwen captured by the Vian King and to be used as a weapon to take out all the Nexus against her will.

This book was short, but it sure packed a punch and the pace was quick enough to keep you glued to your book to see what was happening next.

There was so much more to uncover with Genevieve and what we did found out, made me very sad for her, neither twin deserved the life that they had and I really was hoping for a redemption arc in that relationship, but was not meant to be.

But it brought the story to a close in a lovely way and the hints of not one but 2 tie in series has me very intrigued...

I don’t know I just couldn’t do it. It’s like the writing got worse. Everything is laid out completely in dialogue and thoughts and it’s just so neat, clean and not at all
how real communication and feelings work that it’s just dull, cringy and hard to read. I can’t do it. I don’t remember the beginning of the series being like this. I loved the first book and even though I want to know the end of the story I just can’t get through it so I’m DNFing. I’ll give a 3 star which I think is generous from what I’ve read but considering I can’t finish it I’d feel bad to give less. It’s definitely not higher. I’m truly sad because this series had so much potential but it just got worse with each book. Ultimately great concept, horrible execution for the series as a whole.

I will admit that I read the first 4 books very quickly (I mean they are the shortest books ever), but after taking a pause to wait for the last book to come out (in which time I read I banging RH series that I LOVED!!)… book 5 wasn’t it for me. It was a quick read and I wanted to know how it ended so yes I read it, but it had lost its magic for me.

I remember thinking the writing was subpar while reading the other 4 books but having a good time anyway, but this final book just solidified for me that although the plot did exist it was too rushed to get invested in it at all. I actually think the ideas behind the plot were solid, but nothing was ever written in any kind of detail, which is why the books are only like 200 pages.

This is the fifth book in the Nexus Series and it was a really engaging read that hooked me with its unique blend of romance and a more expansive, otherworldly setting. The concept felt fresh, and I liked how the story balanced emotional connection with the larger plot unfolding around it. The characters had great chemistry, and their dynamic kept me invested, even when things got complicated. There were a few moments where I wanted a bit more depth, but overall it didn’t take away from the experience. It’s a solid 4-star read that’s easy to get lost in, especially if you enjoy romance with a twist. Overall, a good read.

A lovely ending to the series for Gwen and her mates. I really enjoyed that not only were some of her mates (okay most of them) morally grey, but Gwen was as well. She had a soft side but could easily match up with the Morrigan when she needed to.

I think this story definitely touched on some very real topics that don't get written about often and it was refreshing to see. Becoming a step parent, torture, letting yourself be loved for who you are.

The spice was spot on and had me giggling and kicking my feet, what a lucky, lucky Gwen!

Absolutely loved this series and can't wait for the spinoff with book 6!

reat ending! After the cliffhanger ending of the last book, we have a heartbreaking time lapse. It's been 6 months since the king took Gwen. Her sister and the king have been going city to city and forcing her to destroy them. She has no power, no way to escape, no idea if anyone is even looking for her. Finally, finally, she feels one of her bonds nearby, and hope comes screaming back. Even once she's finally out, there's a lot of work to be done. The bonds are finally all in, Gwen, suffering for her whole life, has some choices to make, but she's done letting others decide for her. I love the moment she starts choosing for herself.

Phew, this one was a relief to read. I was worried for harem, genuinely worried. I am excited for the pivot to a new FMC and MMCs for book 6. Honestly this book could have been longer. It felt like Rhodes didn't much face time post betrayal and he just slipped back in quietly at the end. I loved that she repaired things with the rest of the harem. I also love that there was a genuine, legitimate reason for some of the betrayals.

This universe has also crossed into a couple of her other series and those have been really good too, definitely recommend.

Can I rate this a high 3? I ATE UP the first 4 books in this series - absolutely loved them and could not put them down but I’m not sure if I just wanted more or maybe this final book felt rushed? Without spoilers - these big events that seemed like such dangerous, difficult and heartbreaking tasks just seemed easy and quick. I also love having the guys POV and I think we maybe got one chapter of two of the guys. Overall I enjoyed the series but this last book had me wanting more.

3.5⭐️

More or less good finale of the book, was highly predictable where it goes but also was happening ssoooooo fast like all 4 books movements were slower than this one alone in timeline and events. I also didn’t fully buy the full connection with mates as there were not enough talks with them at all.

Super fast paced and okay series overall but you can’t expect great plot or character development from such short books each sadly

3.5 stars :(

Sometimes there is no need for another book. I waited months for this books, and it was just 130 pages. it was a quick read. So it felt like it was missing something. The series was great, but it didn't have the "epic ending" i thought it would. The final battle left a lot to be desired. All this would have fit between book 3 and 4. I would have loved to have seen more of the separate relationships between the mates, but it was just brushed over in a "past tense" way.

So after the last one I knew that it would take a lot to cover all the different conflicts and unfortunately all of those happened so very fast and with so little description that it left me wanting to say the least. I’m sad because I enjoyed the previous books and this fell flat. I wanted so much more from the exploration of their relationships to finding a solution to co-existing. It had so much more potential😔

I give this 3.5 stars. I was somewhat disappointed simply because this book didn’t drag me in like the others. I think part of that reason, and the reason I try to only read finished series, is because when I wait and then try to immerse myself in that world again, especially after having just finished another series, it’s a struggle. That’s just me, and by no means am I sorry I read this book. It was enjoyable and I say definitely check out this series.

Great ending to a great series

While I wish this book was longer so that the big battle was more and we could get more epilogue. It was a great quick end to a great series. I love how much Gwen grew over this series evident in her role in fighting the king. The relationships all felt unique I just wanted more 🤣

I'm going to miss this series. Although I enjoyed it overall, I wish the enemies weren't dispatched so quick. The resolution felt almost too easy, too fast, especially compared to the emotional weight the story was carrying. With stakes this high, I wanted the confrontations to hit harder and linger longer.

It has all been leading to this and it was fun to watch it all play out. Loved watching Gwen get even. I laughed, groaned, muttered and shook my head but enjoyed it all. Plus watching Gwen throughout the series with its twists and end it like this was entertaining. Good story and loved seeing everyone and what they had to overcome this time to get their ending.
