Avalon Academy rules: spy on your enemies, resist temptation, and try not to die in the process.
As a bookseller, Nia saved up for years for her dream vacation—drinking champagne on a beach with her favorite books. But her dream turns into a nightmare when she's kidnapped by a muscular, tattooed jerk of a fey named Raphael.
Yes, kidnapped.
It turns out Nia has a magic power, and Raphael demands that she train at Camelot's elite academy for spies. Raphael is hellbent on revenge against an evil Fey king, certain that Nia's powers can help. But Nia is in way over her head--asthmatic and out of shape. She’ll be lucky to get out of there alive.
Still, there's no escape when Raphael is watching her every move. He's lethal, dangerous, and hot as hell. When they're sent on a dangerous missions together, he becomes harder to resist. Touching him is playing with fire. Is she ready to get burned?
A fae romantasy for readers of ACOTAR, Fourth Wing, and enemies-to-lovers fantasy romance.
Adapted from the novel and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music!
This book is fast paced and I like the voice actors (do we seriously need Gabriel Michal in everything tho? I love him I do it’s just getting a bit played out) did this book blow me away? No. Human girl finds out she’s not wholly human and has special powers that no one else has except the big bad. Plot twist (not really) he’s her dad. I’ll continue the series but it’s not ground breaking material.

I really enjoyed this book, narration was fantastic! I love a full cast audiobook, and while I don't typically like all the added noise to graphic audios it was not overwhelming in this one, except in a few places which I appreciate.
King Arthur lore mixed with fey & the current human world made for an interesting meshing of the worlds. Nia is a demi fey in hiding, taking a vacation in France when she sees a group of demi fey looking lost and decides to help them before they are discovered & killed. She ends up on the ship they are escaping on which is going to Avalon Tower a spy academy where she will train to use her ability to null the mist. There was not a lot of schooling going on, so the academy part of things does not play a big role in the plot, but there are a lot of missions she is sent on. Not a huge fan of the romance, it was just lackluster, but I also don't think Raphael is end game either, so no matter!
3.5 ⭐️ This book felt like a lot of nothing happened. There was so much going on, but not all of it felt like it was for the main plot?? The main plot felt like it was taking forever to get to the point. Also idk if I’d like it better if I read it myself, unfortunately some of the voice actors aren’t who I would imagine voicing characters… The ending was interesting, but I’m still kind of tossing up finishing the series or moving onto something else.. I already have the other 2 audiobooks in this series, but idk if I can sit through another whole lot of nothing. It does seem to be picking up pace. Also how am I rooting for Nea to be with the Fey King?? I guess I just don’t really like Raphael lol
Fun listen. The MMC narrator wasn't my favorite, sounded older than you'd expect him to be, so just sounded a bit wrong. In the story, loved how the academy part wasn't dragged out and how quickly the FMC character develops. Barely a spicy book, and easily skippable if anyone wants to avoid spice.
It was okay. They really did not do the book any favors with the MMC narrator. And then Gabriel Michael randomly popped in at the very end as a side character. Like what?? lol. He should have been the MMC the entire time. Subpar story line with no complexity/world building and the MMC choice for the audio book made it worse. If you like light story lines, this hallmark fantasy will be for you.
I’m going to keep listening just because I need something to listen to in the car. But eh.
Okay this book was absolutely amazing! I did a tandem read by both reading it as an E-book and listening to the graphic audio. Which I honestly would not recommend seeing as they’re very different 😂. But at least I know that now and still enjoyed it! I gave it 5/5⭐️ and I’d say spice is a 0.5/🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.
In this story you get to follow Nia, an ordinary human on vacation in France. Only is everything as ordinary as she thinks? As she tries to help Demi-fey who are fugitives she finds herself sent into the middle of an upcoming war and to train in their academy. As she learns more about herself she realizes two things, one is shes starting to catch feelings for someone she shouldn’t, and second she needs to help them with everything she’s got.
I absolutely loved every second of this book and I will now have to get them as paperbacks so I can re-read them because the audio book skipped some stuff. I can’t wait for a re-read on this one and if you’re a lover of magical stories with romance twinkled in them that doesn’t overtake the story then Avalon Towers is a definite must read!
Avalon Tower delivers a fresh urban fantasy twist by weaving fae lore into the legend of King Arthur, and I really enjoyed how the story balanced familiar myth with something more magical and modern. The worldbuilding and premise are strong, and the book both starts and ends on a high note, pulling you in quickly and leaving you satisfied by the conclusion. I listened to the GraphicAudio version, and while the full-cast production was immersive, there were moments where it felt a bit overstimulating with all the layered sound effects and voices competing for attention. The pacing is definitely fast, but at times the plot felt like it got a little lost in the movement, making it harder to stay grounded in the story’s direction. Overall, it’s an entertaining read for anyone who loves Arthurian-inspired urban fantasy with fae elements—even if the execution can feel a little chaotic along the way.
I didn't really enjoy the dramatized audiobook. I especially didn't care for Raphael's voice actor but the storyline was interesting. The mix of modern day and Fey and the spy academy was intriguing. I enjoyed the main character although it looks like she might be some kind of ultimate powerful person which I don't love. I will continue with the series but am going to try and find a regular audiobook or just eyeball read it instead.
Imagine finding out that you have magical powers as an adult and that you have to protect the world. Vigorous training and 6 months later, you go on dangerous missions and kill people. Now imagine that another power surfaces and you can hear everyone's thoughts and influence what they see and hear. That has to mess with your emotions a little. Let's throw in a love interest, an enemy or two, and the responsibility of a drunk mom. Nothing to it! The reason for the lower rating is due to the threads that are still dangling. Mom needs Nia's support at home to pay the bills but she leaves for 6 months or longer. Vague references to previous problems with the love interest but you don't find out until pretty late in the book. And finally, an automatic previous knowledge of Lancelot, Guinevere, and the Arthur is assumed to undestand all the connections in the book.
This review is for the entire trilogy because I couldn’t force myself to pause between books, so I’ll keep this high level to avoid spoilers.
The cliffhangers in this series will make you want to immediately jump into the next one! I highly recommend the audiobook for this one. The full cast is fantastic, though Rafael’s character sounds a bit snooty and made me dislike him immediately. 😂
This is also one of those series where each subsequent book gets better - book 1 was intriguing but definitely my least favorite in the series. If you like a dark, mysterious, and broody main love interest, go ahead and pick this up. The power dynamic between the couple is fantastic and only gets better as the series goes on.
Again, listen to the audio if you can. I highly enjoyed it.
This had me hooked from the first chapter. It was action from the get go. The whole story read like forth wing but make them older and spies!
We have an FMC who was just hanging out on vacation only to be forcibly whisked away to a spy academy after doing a good deed and saving some fae. Add in the fact that it’s her ex doing the whisking and we’ve now got an amazing story taking off.
-exs to lovers -academy setting -magic training -spy missions -huge plot twists
I can easily see why this series is so hyped up! It is seriously such a good time!! (and the graphic audio is fantastic!)
This was a good time. I enjoyed the references to and draws on the King Arthur lore, mixed with the spy training plot was a refreshing story. Though, it seemed more focused on actual missions than training. There are more twists and turns coming, I just know it. I’m excited to see where it goes.
Loved the Graphic Audio version took good choices of VAs. I didn’t miss the sneak peek of Gabriel Michael’s voice at the end there too. Hoping that means we’ll get more of him and his character in the second book. 🤞
I am still new-ish to fantasy so this is my first King Arthur book. It was really interesting. The way they had fey, Demi-fey, humans and so much more in this world. I love the academy vibes, i would have liked to see more about the academy and what all they get to do. The slow burn romance between Nia and Raphael was good. I listened to it as well and really enjoyed the graphic audio. The narrators were great. The ending for this had a big plot twist and left in a cliffhanger that makes you wanting to immediately jump into the next book. Cannot wait to find out just how this will go!
I’m not really big round table retelling fan but this was pretty decent. I think I didn’t love it as much because of all the hype I have been hearing.
I wasn’t the highest fan of the voice actors, the male voices sounded very similar and I wanted some variety. Other than some of the male voices for this graphic audiobook I think that’s what got me through this book so quickly. There was a big twist at the end that I honestly did not see coming but other than that plot twist everything felt very mid to me. I’m not sure if I’ll continue the trst of the series or not.
Why didn't I find this book sooner??? This book was just a good fricken time. The pacing was perfect and kept me engaged throughout. I enjoyed the characters, and I felt like the back story was just enough to explain the current situation.
The ending of this book??? What a cliff hanger! Thankfully, this is a completed trilogy so no waiting needed before picking up the next one.
So why did I only rate it 4 stars vs 5? While it was so good, and I think the series will just get better from here, I was missing a little something on the character development. All that said, I can't wait to keep reading the series.
Oh, and I totally recommend the dramatized audio adaptation. It was just a fun way to read/listen and done well!
3.5 stars for me . It was a fun story, but after the good start I could not find the plot anymore. Too much happens with different people that I lost interest in the story The bullying part at the academy is not really important to the story and the romance feels a bit fake. Too bad that some really good parts( invading in thoughts of the prince, having two powers and the lady of the lake part) are dropped into the story but never explained.
I read this book about a year ago and wanted to do a reread so I could remember everything before going into books 2-3.
I really enjoyed the book both times, but I did the GA version this time around. The audio was really well done! The book itself is really intriguing. I was always fascinated by King Arthur and Merlin, so a book that includes that legend is always a plus. This book also has a spy academy! What’s not to love! Looking forward to continuing that journey!
The dramatized adaptation where have you been all my life
It made me love this book even so much more. It felt like you were living there with the characters Story keeps you wanting to know more I love the female main character and how smarty and whitty she is and that shes finally being true to herself and doing something for her!!
The ending leaving me wanting more i cant wait to deep dive into book 2 im hoping it is just as good or even better
You mean to tell me that she didn’t know Avalon Tower existed and then in SIX MONTHS becomes one of the highest ranking spies? And also is somehow a master at espionage? And even though she and the MMC have had like one flirty interaction they’re professing their love for each other? Nah dog. I don’t buy it.
HOWEVER I will begrudgingly continue the series because I’m hoping the Dreamstalker is as cool as I hope he’ll be.

I did not want to stop reading this. It's Arthur and Merlin, mixed with Fae. It's got a unique twist on the classic King Arthur stories and there's a spy school involved.
The book is full of forbidden romance, secrets and lots of characters you can really love to hate.
That ending, not only was it a HUGE cliff hanger but I totally did not see that twist coming.
This was such a great listen. The voices were perfect and of course I have a new book boyfriend. Really enjoyed the storyline and of course that cliffhanger. I can’t wait for the next graphic audio release but at the same time I want to pick up the next book.
I really enjoyed this world and can't wait to read more. the graphic audio was excellent and really helped with the story. yes it's similar to other stories with the knights of the round table and Camelot modern retelling but bringing the fay in was interesting. the romance was well built up,i didn't love the actor who did the MMC but I got over it.
Great start to the series. I should have done my review when I finished. Since I didn't, this will be short. This series is once again a series that I started to listen to Gabriel Michael 😅😉. Too bad he plays the fmc's father! I'm excited about book 2 to see where the book goes. Book 1 ends on a slight cliffhanger.
I just listened to the graphic audio, and I finished it in 2 days. I should've known I'd be addicted because I finished Frost and Nectar SO fast too.
Halfway through the book I ordered indie copies of books 1-3 in this series. Absolutely hooked. Before I finished, I also snagged book 2's graphic audio, and I'm 45% of the way through it. 😅
Good plot, cheesy execution of it. I read reviews before I started, so because I went in with those expectations I was having a fun/silly time. I was laughing a lot when she read this random fae’s thoughts and he’s thinking about how he told the waitress at the banquet “you too” after she told him to enjoy his meal and now he wants to die. Very unserious.
This was good. def something different from my normal dark romance. This Graphic Audio was amazing and just love the characters. When she made him call himself a twat in front of everyone made me goggle so much!!!!!
Honestly not bad! I didn’t see the end coming. I hope there’s a bit more action in the second book! I feel like this was a lot of world building preparing for the rest of the series. I love a strong FMC!
