Avalon Academy rules: spy on your enemies, resist temptation, and try not to die in the process.
As a bookseller, Nia saved up for years for her dream vacation—drinking champagne on a beach with her favorite books. But her dream turns into a nightmare when she's kidnapped by a muscular, tattooed jerk of a fey named Raphael.
Yes, kidnapped.
It turns out Nia has a magic power, and Raphael demands that she train at Camelot's elite academy for spies. Raphael is hellbent on revenge against an evil Fey king, certain that Nia's powers can help. But Nia is in way over her head--asthmatic and out of shape. She’ll be lucky to get out of there alive.
Still, there's no escape when Raphael is watching her every move. He's lethal, dangerous, and hot as hell. When they're sent on a dangerous missions together, he becomes harder to resist. Touching him is playing with fire. Is she ready to get burned?

Okay this book was absolutely amazing! I did a tandem read by both reading it as an E-book and listening to the graphic audio. Which I honestly would not recommend seeing as they’re very different 😂. But at least I know that now and still enjoyed it! I gave it 5/5⭐️ and I’d say spice is a 0.5/🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.
In this story you get to follow Nia, an ordinary human on vacation in France. Only is everything as ordinary as she thinks? As she tries to help Demi-fey who are fugitives she finds herself sent into the middle of an upcoming war and to train in their academy. As she learns more about herself she realizes two things, one is shes starting to catch feelings for someone she shouldn’t, and second she needs to help them with everything she’s got.
I absolutely loved every second of this book and I will now have to get them as paperbacks so I can re-read them because the audio book skipped some stuff. I can’t wait for a re-read on this one and if you’re a lover of magical stories with romance twinkled in them that doesn’t overtake the story then Avalon Towers is a definite must read!
This was a good time. I enjoyed the references to and draws on the King Arthur lore, mixed with the spy training plot was a refreshing story. Though, it seemed more focused on actual missions than training. There are more twists and turns coming, I just know it. I’m excited to see where it goes.
Loved the Graphic Audio version took good choices of VAs. I didn’t miss the sneak peek of Gabriel Michael’s voice at the end there too. Hoping that means we’ll get more of him and his character in the second book. 🤞
Why didn't I find this book sooner??? This book was just a good fricken time. The pacing was perfect and kept me engaged throughout. I enjoyed the characters, and I felt like the back story was just enough to explain the current situation.
The ending of this book??? What a cliff hanger! Thankfully, this is a completed trilogy so no waiting needed before picking up the next one.
So why did I only rate it 4 stars vs 5? While it was so good, and I think the series will just get better from here, I was missing a little something on the character development. All that said, I can't wait to keep reading the series.
Oh, and I totally recommend the dramatized audio adaptation. It was just a fun way to read/listen and done well!
3.5 stars for me . It was a fun story, but after the good start I could not find the plot anymore. Too much happens with different people that I lost interest in the story The bullying part at the academy is not really important to the story and the romance feels a bit fake. Too bad that some really good parts( invading in thoughts of the prince, having two powers and the lady of the lake part) are dropped into the story but never explained.
I listen to a lot of Graphic Audios, and I haaaaaatteeeee this male narrator. He makes me imagine a pervy version of Prince William in pantaloons. I have more thirst for Shrek than the imagine of this man in my mind.
Anyway, the book was alright. It wasn’t anything spectacular, but I liked it more than I hate it.
This was such a great listen. The voices were perfect and of course I have a new book boyfriend. Really enjoyed the storyline and of course that cliffhanger. I can’t wait for the next graphic audio release but at the same time I want to pick up the next book.
I really enjoyed this world and can't wait to read more. the graphic audio was excellent and really helped with the story. yes it's similar to other stories with the knights of the round table and Camelot modern retelling but bringing the fay in was interesting. the romance was well built up,i didn't love the actor who did the MMC but I got over it.
⭐️3.5 I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Wasn’t it the greatest. No. But the ending made me want more. The pacing was good. And I love a good graphic audio. Definitely a fun listen.
It was ok. I probably wouldn’t have liked it as much if it wouldn’t have been the Graphic Audio version. I’ve read many other fantasy series that I like better.
I think they did a great job narrating this one! It has been awhile since I physically read the book so I can't remember if much changed or was left out. but I had a great time listening!
What happens when you combine the occupation of France (except with faes instead of Nazis), British intelligence, and the Fourth Wing? A pure nonsense, that's what you get.
This was the first dramatized book version I've actually enjoyed. The reading was exceptional and the sound effects did not overpower the narration. If only all dramatized adaptations were so well composed.
The story itself is fun and enjoyable. It does follow common Romatasy tropes such as emenies to lovers, forbidden romance, forced proximity, found family, and very strong FMC plot armor. Even with its fairly predictable plot line, the story is well written, the characters fun, and I enjoyed the blending of Fae lore and that of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.
There is some spice in this first book of the series, but it isn't over done. In fact the spice happens over half-way through the book, making it a moderate slow burn. I will definitely read next book in this series and hope that it is as good as this one.
I honestly needed this! As expected is lighter read and the dramatized version contributed to the fun immensely. I'm not sure if this is a must read for everyone, but it definitely is a breath of fresh air it the current romantasy climate. I am sick and tired of dragons and endless internal monologue and action that is honestly unrealistic. Here the plot skips days, weeks and even months, which in my opinion is refreshing and more realistic as the main heroine does not snap her fingers and knows everything. There is definitely a build up, but it's not boring and is not at all tedeiou
