Recently named executive chef at one of Miami Beach's hottest restaurants, Jaden Thorne is determined to make her culinary mark and fulfill her professional dreams. When Jaden is given highly coveted tickets to the ultra-exclusive Winemaker's Dinner, she jumps at the opportunity to meet South Florida's wealthiest and most influential food and wine enthusiasts. Jaden's eyes are drawn to the VIP section even before the appetizers appear, but she soon finds herself thinking less about networking and more about the intriguingly sexy stranger eying her from across the room. After dinner, what begins as a lighthearted flirtation unexpectedly catapults into a night of explosive passion. But when morning dawns, Jaden leaves her sleeping Mr. Oh So Sexy behind, sure they'll never see each other again.
Dr. Ivan Rusilko, a handsome, young physician, boasts an extensive resume' and a well-established position on Miami Beach's social scene. But despite his success and glamor, he's routinely had to suffer uninspiring dates and doomed relationships. With a romantic heart, Ivan's not the "love-'em-and-leave-'em" type. But when he awakens to find that the girl in the red dress has done exactly that, he resolves to find her--only if it's just to ask why she left without even a kiss goodbye.
The Winemaker's Dinner is a fictionalized erotic memoir inspired by the romantic triumphs and tragedies of Dr. Ivan Rusilko's real life. Weaving fact with fantasy, authors Everly Drummond and Dr. Ivan Rusilko have gifted readers with a swoon-worthy, flesh-and-blood romantic hero and the intoxicating bouquet only a heartfelt tale of passionate love can create.
Dr. Ivan Rusilko, DO, CSN, PT, is an accomplished weight loss, wellness, physical enhancement and sexual health physician in Miami, Florida. A certified sports nutritionist, champion bodybuilder, international male fitness model, and former Mr. USA 2008 & 2010, Dr. Ivan graduated from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010 and sits as the national media and public relations expert and spokesperson on diet, exercise and sports nutrition for the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
Dr. Ivan has been a feature health writer and lifestyle coach for numerous magazines and online publications including The Washington Times and Quarter Life Health.
In addition to health and wellness, he has a variety of interests and activities including event coordination, photography, writing, and politics.
With his debut novel, "The Winemaker’s Dinner: Appetizers," book one of a planned three book series due out in the summer of 2012, Dr. Rusilko is excited to offer a male voice in a predominantly female authored genre. Always one with a story to tell, he hopes to continue writing, exploring new genres and projects, as well as field future entertainment opportunities.
He is proud to bring two of his passions, his medical wellness and sexual health background and writing together in this unique project. He hopes that the "The Winemakers Feast Trilogy" will help spark an enthusiasm and liberation among women, inspiring them to bring their sexual health into focus and achieve a better quality of life.
"The best cosmetic procedure is adding a smile." - Dr Rusilko
I picked this one up with the anticipation of reading something a little different. It appeared to be an erotic romance written by man – a male voice in a predominantly female authored genre. And will you just pause a moment, take a deep breath and take a look at the man that wrote it!!
Yes, this is he. Dr Ivan Rusilko – a health and fitness guru, sexual health adviser, male model, body-builder, a Doctor and, obviously, drop dead gorgeous. Colour me happy!!
He also takes the fairly unusual route of naming his hero for himself. So we have Dr Ivan Rusilko meeting eyes across a crowded function room at the Winemaker’s Dinner of the title with Jaden Thorne, an up and coming chef in Miami, and there’s a an instant sizzling attraction between them which cannot be denied. They spend one passionate night together but Jaden runs out before Ivan wakes up as she considers herself nowhere near good enough for him. Dr Ivan tracks her down and they begin a passionate and very sweet romance.
This is pretty much the story – I wouldn’t consider it to be erotic romance. I would classify it as fairly steamy contemporary romance. There’s really no action – it’s all about the growing feelings between the two and some pretty hot sex scenes.
I’m presuming that this isn’t actually auto-biographical and that Jaden Thorne herself doesn’t exist but Dr Ivan does and I have to say it requires huge self-confidence and a degree of narcissism to base a ‘hero’ on oneself. The book is mostly told from Jaden’s POV but Dr Ivan is writing it and we have several descriptions of him as Jaden sees him. She refers to him as Mr. Oh So Well Equipped, Mr. Oh So Sexy, women almost lose their footing when he's out jogging topless and there are several scenes where Jaden watches him sleep and contemplates his beautiful body, face and hair. He is practically perfect in every way – he’s obviously very beautiful, has a well-chiselled body, he’s romantic, thoughtful, a considerate, skilled and attentive lover, he’s self-sacrificing – in fact he is written as faultless. I’m thinking the real Dr Ivan is a very confident man. This is probably the difference between a male and female author writing romance!
All this aside, this is a nice and sweet romance. It’s the first part of a trilogy and there’s no cliffhanger here so I’m not sure where the next 2 books will take us but if you like a slow, steady and thoughtful romance – this one could be for you.
It has been a long time since I’ve reviewed a book at 5 stars. What puts this book above others for me is the unique twist of using a real life person as the hero of a fiction novel. The publisher has referred to this as his "fictionalized erotic memoir." The fact this person is also the co-author, a doctor, a model, and Mr. USA not once, but twice? This by itself makes for a crazy mix in an erotic romance novel. The whole time reading this book I kept thinking, “Is this real? Is that real?” It truly makes for a one of a kind reading experience that I’m looking forward to continuing in the sequels. Pour a glass of Mollydooker and settle in. This is one of my very rare long reviews.
The hero of this story is Dr. Ivan Rusilko. Everything we learn personally about Dr. Ivan in the book appears to be true in real life such as the tattoos, his career, accomplishments, where he is from, etc. That is a crazy feeling being able to see the character and get to know the character all the while trying to wrap your mind around this character is not a character at all, but a real person. In a fiction novel. Huh? Exactly! Bizarre? Yes. Cool? Very. Disturbing? Sometimes. I really hope some crazy stalker person doesn’t think they really ‘know’ Dr. Ivan and go all book crazy on him. If this guy is anything like he comes across in the novel then female readers are going to be swooning in all sorts of new swooning fashion. It takes away the argument, “Yeah, but real life men are not like the men in novels. You have to write them that way.” Sigh. Listen up husbands and boyfriends. Dr. Ivan may have just made your dating lives more difficult. ;) What I enjoy the most about this hero is his sense of humor. This guy can banter! He is not pretentious no matter the titles he carries and just makes you feel like he’d be great to hang out with even if you’re not the one dating him. I also like how he uses ‘girl’ appropriately in phrasing and actually pulls off using ‘baby girl’ without making me gag.
Jaden Thorne is the heroine of this story and she is just as likable as the doctor. Now, this is the part that confuses me. Is Jaden based on anyone real or are she and the circumstances she brings what makes this a fictitious novel? Jaden is a sweet girl, who also seems to be blessed with the gorgeous genes. She has become the head chef at a Miami restaurant and the whirlwind romance and career path she is on makes for all kinds of good reading. I’m under the assumption (I could be wrong) that co-author Everly Drummond is the master mind behind the voice of Jaden and I would love to pick the authors’ brains on how in the heck they made this book work! I want to make sure Ms. Drummond gets her kudos in this literary venture as she has background of writing romance. I truly enjoyed this book however Ms. Drummond and Dr. Ivan pulled it off. I definitely invested in Jaden and not once did I not want her to be with Ivan or roll my eyes at her. I’d love to be friends with this gal in real life…if she was the real one in this story? :D
The steamy scenes in this book are hot but not over kill. Budding romance always brings chemistry but these two, the chemistry is amazing. The characters fit together and it does make the reader yearn to feel that chemistry as well. Gotta say, it's a bit weird reviewing on this book's steamy scenes knowing the guy I'd normally comment about at this point could read this review. So, as much as I'd like to go into the holy hotness of this book, well...er...um...yeah. I will say I'm quite impressed with his hands.
This relationship also brings about heavy questions in life of following dreams, following your heart, or if it’s possible to get the two on the same page? I did question at one point where in the heck is the conflict of this story? All great romances have to struggle, right? Well, I have to eat crow here and pat the authors on the back for doing a great job of holding off on the conflict long enough for me to realize it and then BAM! Conflict arrives and my heart breaks for the characters. I asked for it though, right? Great timing in the writing here which made the ‘all- knowing’ reviewer slap her own hand and smile that I’d been wrong.
Speaking of all-knowing reviewer, it is so rare that a writer can surprise me or that I don’t see something coming a mile away. Well, these two writers did it which made me love the book a little bit more just for ‘getting’ me. There is a scene I didn’t realize what was happening until the character found out what was happening. I know that’s how it is supposed to work, but I read so much, it rarely works that way for me anymore. Again, nice timing with the writers. I chuckled after reading this scene. Literally chuckled at its cuteness and that they 'got' me.
Another thing that made me like this book a little more? Bacon. There is bacon in this book!! Love the Rusilko family and how they are portrayed.
Some of my favorite quotes are: “I wonder what he does for a living,” Tasha mused, still intrigued by the group of people sitting at the front of the tent. “He must be an athlete or something, because guys who look like that don’t rely on their intelligence, if you know what I mean.”
“Were you watching me?” “No. I was watching you watch me. There’s a difference.”
“Right now I’m just a guy…desperate for you to give him a chance. Nothing more.”
Do I really need to come right out and say I recommend this book? I’d also recommend reading the two short stories that perfectly set the stage to begin reading this novel. I am really looking forward to seeing where Drummond and Rusilko take this story line. I still have no clue how much of this plot is fact or fiction and I guess the answer to that is what determines the outcome of Jaden and Dr. Ivan. I raise my glass to both authors and wish them great success with this series. And I’m sending special mojo vibes to Dr. Ivan that his real life doesn’t get too confused with his fictional life, so we can all continue to enjoy both. "Salute!"
I will leave a full review later... When I can properly think ;)
Here we go:
I first heard about this book back at the Chicago RT Convention in April where I met Omnific Publishing. With them they had this beautiful man. This didn't come as big of a shock because many publishing houses or authors bring cover models with them as promotion. Then he was introduced as Doctor Ivan. Doctor? Did I hear that right? Before I can gather any thoughts on this it is also mentioned that he was Mr. USA, a bodybuilder, and now an author of this book which is coming out at the end of July... which is also based around his lust and love life.
Shut the front door.
After a few minutes of staring like an idiot, my professional side comes back and starts asking questions. The first brilliant one being, "Huh?" Yep, seems Everly Drummond (GENIUS!!) emailed him one day with an idea that snowballed into what I hope many of you will read here in the near future.
The Winemaker's Dinner: Appetizers is the first book in a trilogy following the life of Dr. Ivan Rusilko and Jaden Thorne. It's a story that starts out with these two meeting at the winemaker's dinner in Florida. Jaden is a new chef in an up and coming restaurant trying to make it big in the Miami heat. Ivan is, well, Ivan. You can actually google him and get an idea of what his character is like. Meet Dr. Ivan Rusilko.
Jaden finds herself being thrown into all that Miami has to offer. VIP parties are traded in for quiet Saturday nights. Her skills as a chef are being noticed which sends her into celebrity status. Ivan is no stranger to being noticed when he's out on the town, so together they are one of the hottest couples around.
This book had everything I love to see in a romance. There was chemistry, a little bit of lust, some cat and mouse chase thrown in there, those sweet and tender moments, a massive amount of sexy, and a pinch of day-umm.
The sexy moments were steamy, but not raunchy. It was nice to be able to read something and not cringe because someone is going to town for five chapters or a virgin is being tied up and spanked. This was real, honest, and somewhat emotional. Above all it was fun.
Her voice echoed in the night air as she screamed out his name. ~The Winemaker's Dinner
I also loved that there were so many different elements to this book. There are two great authors, a character that is also kinda real, some real facts are thrown in (but you don't exactly know which ones) and it all came together so seamlessly that I wasn't distracted away from the plot. Oh! All the chapters were also song titles, so if you wanted to get crazy with it you could jam along with our dynamic duo.
I know this review is really a non-review, but please do me a favor and pick this book up on July 31st so I have someone to squee with over it! I have read so many books in the last few years and I rarely rave like this. Then you need to get on facebook and stalk Ivan and Everly (don't worry, I think they secretly like it). Don't worry... I will leave you with some links and pictures.
Now all you have to do is poor a glass of wine and enjoy! Cheers.
Just finished this, and I must say it is well named. Not to give too much away, but the ending? "Appetizers", indeed! Ivan and Everly leave readers ready for the entree! Lovers of erotic romance will love to read this fictionalized account of real life hottie Dr. Ivan Rusilko. (go ahead. Google Image Search is your friend.)
I would like to start out by saying that I’m so glad that reviews are written and not spoken, because I’m certain I would get lost in thought remembering my favorite parts of this book and start stammering like a fool. This is the first book in a series written by Dr. Ivan Rusilko and Everly Drummond, called The Winemaker’s Dinner. This first installation, Appetizers, delivers a delicious tease to the palate that has me hungry for more!
Jaden, a beautiful and talented chef at one of Miami’s most popular restaurants, is given the opportunity of a lifetime to attend The Winemaker’s Dinner, an upscale event for Miami’s élite. Who could turn up that offer? Even better, it’s her birthday weekend and with two tickets in hand it’s a perfect opportunity to spend time with her best friend, and roommate, and enjoy the finer things the culinary world has to offer. Dr. Ivan Rusilko is a young and handsome physician built like a Greek god. He’s been to places and has had experiences most people only dream of. He’s mingled with models, actors and athletes. He’s loved and lived to the fullest. So, to go to the Winemakers Dinner is a pretty common example of a night out on the town for him. But tonight is bound to be different. The instant he sees the young woman dressed to kill in a red dress, he knows she is special. There’s something about her that is so alluring and he knows she isn’t a woman he should let slip through his grasp.
The story of Ivan and Jaden is one of lust, passion, and love. This story starts out hot and heavy but grows into a romance that is enviable and honest. The evolution of their relationship is magical. It is the perfect mix of erotic and romantic. There were times I was drooling on the pages and times where I was sighing dreamily like a teenage girl.
For me, the best part of this whole reading experience was knowing that Dr. Ivan is real. He’s a real person, sharing some of his real experiences. The women in his life are some lucky ladies. He seems so kind and caring and well–rounded but most of all, humble and honest. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this whole fiction based on reality mash-up when I first started this book but damn, it worked so well!! And let’s be honest ladies, you all know when we read a story with a hero we love, we will sit and Google the character name with the hopes that someone out there in Internetland has found a model that represents what we think the hero looks like. But with this book, we can Google the actual hero! And oh, what a Google search it is *swoon*!
Thank you Dr. Rusilko and Ms. Drummond for a wonderfully different concept that made one hell of a read! I cannot wait for the other installments in this series and how Jaden and Ivan grow. You have earned a fan and I will be recommending this book to all! Cheers!
I am a bit conflicted about this book. The writing is good (well done to Ivan for his first book!), but I am not sure what I think about mixing fiction and real-life events.
Ivan (the real guy) appears to be one of those guys that are just great with everything they do - he is funny, hot as hell (just Google him), smart and seems like a sweet guy that loves his family. He has accomplished sooooo much at 28! If I was a guy, I would want to be him ;)
Some people could argue that the book is a bit egotistical, with all the references to his accomplishments and quotes like "she was pleased to discover that Mr. Oh So Sexy was also Mr. Oh So Well Equipped". I don't think it’s fair to judge him for that. In fictional novels we love to read about the hero and all his bits! For Ivan's benefit I will assume that Everly wrote that part :)
Okay, so back to the story... (contains minor spoilers)
Jaden (the fictional character) is a very likeable heroine. When she first meets Ivan she is immediately attracted to him and they share a steamy night together. The next morning she finds out who he is, she thinks she's not worthy (can't blame her) and she disappears. Ivan is intrigued by her and decides to pursue her.
The rest of the book is about their relationship and how their feelings for each other grow. This is not really erotica; it is a sweet and romantic love story with some rather steamy scenes! There is quite a few hilarious moments as well and Ivan sounds like a really 'fun' guy. The part where he rocks up in a heart outfit at her door had me smiling like crazy. I heard on a video review that it was based on an actual event :)
So my issue is this... The book is just too sweet and Ivan is portrayed as nearly perfect. It may be true, but it does not make for an interesting story.
My heart finally started to beat a bit faster in the last few chapters, when Jaden decided to leave him to pursue a career opportunity. For the record, if that was based on a real event I think the girl in question was stupid. True love does not come knocking on your door every day! What I like in good romance novels is the emotional roller coaster, sexual tension, learning about the characters' flaws and how they overcome them together. I will read the next book... hopefully there is a little bit more angst in there though.
THE WINEMAKER’S DINNER-Appetizers by Dr. Ivan Rusilko and Everly Drummond
THE WINEMAKER’S DINNER –Appetizers is the first novel (July 31, 2012 release) in The Winemaker’s Feast series co-written by Dr. Ivan Rusilko and Everly Drummond. The storyline has been labeled a fictional account of Dr. Ivan’s life and love. But I wondered- How much of the book is fiction and how much of the book is fact? Of course, it doesn’t hurt, when a reader is able to put a face to a hero, and a face that is derived from reality and not from our imaginations. Then again, a good imagination allows the reader to place themself into the novel and experience the storyline first hand.
Dr. Ivan Rusilko is a successful doctor and businessman, but something or someone was missing from his life. And meeting Ms. Jaden Thorne brought everything into perspective-he was missing the other half of his soul. Having loved and lost, Ivan was afraid to put everything he was back into a relationship, but Jaden could be that someone. Knowing what he was going to do, would take time, but eventually everything would fall into place. But when dreams do come true, there may be someone needed to gather the pieces of a broken heart with the realization that sacrifices have to be made.
Jaden knew she had made a mistake. She wasn’t the type of girl to do a one-night stand, but she knew she was out of his league. Yet on the night Dr. Ivan sat with his friends, dining at her restaurant, Jaden knew she had made a bigger mistake then leaving without saying goodbye. If the tears staining her face were not a giveaway to her feelings, then the overwhelming joy at Ivan’s words, would certainly inspire a woman to fall head over heals for the stranger she had met only days before.
Throughout the story, the reader is taken on a trip of romance, of sex and fun. Ivan’s ability to make Jaden feel like she is the only woman in the world sings praises for a character who once thought he was destined for a string of failed relationships. His family’s acceptance was instantaneous, and the couple’s love grew with every encounter and morning after. Ivan is a man capable of melting a woman’s heart with a smile and a kiss. If only there were more men like the hero of this story.
Jaden was on the cusp of making a name for herself in the culinary world. Her position, as executive chef, had garnered a few turns of the head but it was her skill and her abilities that caught the attention of some very famous people-or so she had thought. But to everyone’s surprise except Ivan’s Jaden was thrown in to a spotlight that would eventually find her facing a boardroom of executives offering to make all of her dreams come true. But choices will have to be made, and the biggest sacrifice will come at the expense of a broken heart and a shattered soul. Sometimes the heart will not survive the separation of thousands of miles, and sometimes the heart knows exactly what it wants and needs.
THE WINEMAKER’S DINNER is a sweet story about finding love when and where you least expect it. As an erotic storyline, it was tamer than most, but the sexual energy was palpable and flowed smoothly between the pages of the book. The storyline was fast paced without the usual playing hard to get like many romantic tales-Jaden and Ivan were two adults who knew what they wanted and went into the relationship with their eyes and their hearts wide open. An interesting storyline, that makes you wonder, how much of the novel is fiction and how much is the real Dr. Ivan Rusilko. I have no doubt that comparisons will be made and most of us will never really know where reality and fiction blurred-but it was fun trying to guess. Congratulations to Dr. Ivan and Everly on their new release. I am looking forward to their next collaborative effort in The Winemaker’s Dinner series.
The Winemakers Dinner: Appetizers By Dr. Ivan Rusilko & Everly Drummond
What is Love? The age-old question has been written, asked, and theorized throughout time but we never seem to get enough of it. The Winemaker’s Dinner: Appetizer was a journey for all the senses and truly kept you enticed throughout the whole book. One can relate to Jaden on so many levels because like many of us, she doesn’t see herself very clearly while the rest of the world sees the extraordinary woman that she is. Miami’s newest executive chef for a prestigious restaurant has no idea that a chance meeting with Mr. Oh So Sexy will change her life completely. Mr. Oh So Sexy is none other than world traveler, model, Bodybuilding phenomenon and Doctor, Ivan Rusilko. Her chance meeting will not only change her life but his. Little do Jaden and Ivan know that their lives will never be the same, but will they surpass all of loves challenges? You just have to read it to find out. Everly Drummond & Dr. Ivan Rusilko co wrote this amazing book and to be honest I have said it before and I will say it again, Christian who? The book is swoon worthy and oh so very HOT. Their connection seeps through the words and leaves you yearning for more. The Winemaker’s Dinner: Appetizer will have you spellbound having you experience emotions from desire, disorder, discord, and ultimately devotion. If you are ready to experience a book that will captivate you fully, then take a chance on this book. This book was Sparring Stepsister Approved. ~Kismet.
I've heard the early buzz about this book. The buzz being that the writer is a male writing erotic romance. When I started reading The Winemaker's Dinner, I found the writing to be very formal. It made reading a little clunky. I also noticed, as I continued reading, that the hero, Dr. Ivan, was described in detail several times but the reader didn't know what Jaden, the heroine, looked like. After reading 50% of the book, I knew that she had black hair, green eyes and is 5'10". There were no descriptive details about her looks ,shape. It was all about Dr. Ivan. And this is why the book didn't work for me (besides the fact that he says "baby girl" and "girl" a lot. Annoying and not sexy. At. All.) Being called "girl" is only sexy when it's coming from Ryan Gosling's lips. The Winemakers Dinner seemed to be one big ego boost for Dr. Ivan. It was all about him; look at how sexy I am. Look at how awesome I am. Jaden was in his shadow the entire time (hence why I think she wasn't described in detail). I read half the book and couldn't go any further. I didn't find any of the characters likable and was not invested in their relationship. After much eye-rolling and muttering "give me a break" throughout the book, I decided it was best for me to leave The Winemaker's Dinner.
I've read rave reviews about The Winemaker's Dinner but this book didn't work for me.
It seems that I only review books I really love. If you look at my ratings for other books you might notice a pattern. It's true again...I LOVED THIS BOOK. I'm not the only person that feels that way about this particular book though if you'll notice on Amazon it really is rated pretty high. It's wonderfully erotic, romantic, even corny in a few places. The funny thing that intrigued me about this book is that it is a fictional story written by Dr. Ivan Rusilko and co/written by Everly Drummond but the fictional story is about a character named Dr. Ivan Rusilko. He is a very sexy and romantic guy Smitten by an up-and-coming lady master Chef he meets at a winemaker's dinner. She also is smitten. Most of the time I read this book with a big grin on my face. (my cheeks still hurt.) There were some places I thought "What silliness." Mostly I just loved it.(Google Dr. Ivan Rusilko.) I have to give kudos to Everly Drummond as well though we (women) know it usually takes a female mind to get it right. Right? (was that a sexist remark?) I guess I'm hanging around my husband too much.
A real life erotic novel actually written from a male point of view , the author is a real, living breathing doctor who resides in Miami and wrote the novel himself supposedly based on his real life past pursuits and trials and tribulations he has actually experienced. This novel has seemingly broken down the walls of the usually female dominated erotic author writing genre .... Dr Ivan Rusilko's writing is full of heart and soul as he pursues his object of love the beautiful and talented chef Jayden who recently moved to Miami and captured the doctor's heart at first sight. how much of this tale is real or fiction? This is where the fun begins trying to figure it out... The fact that it is interwoven with food and wine makes it all the more appealing and sexy, I do not know how good of a doctor Mr. Rusilko is but if he is good as his writing full of sensory overload and beautifully descriptive scenarios sign me up I feel ill..Doctor please? This novel is for anyone who ever fell in love and crosses all barriers, whatever your sexual preference is I feel like I know the doctor personally as he pursues his love interest chapter through chapter. The sex scenes are erotic and steamy, not vulgar or raunchy hello 50 shades of grey...I believe this is a trilogy the first edition was a quick , breezy read fun and whimsical. Cannot wait to see what happens in book two ! I do not usually write reviews on novels I have read but this one deserves a definite 2 thumbs up from me...
really enjoyed this alot, I cannot wait to see what Jaden and Tasha get up to when they arrive at The Winemaker's Dinner.
Great teaser and introduction to a unique heroine. I'm sure the sparks will fly come July 31st.
Not since Fifty Shades of Grey and the likes of tv's Torchwood's love stories between Captain Jack Harkness and the man he stole the name from or the handsome Angelo Colasanto have i fallen so quickly for a male lead in a novel or a shows.
The new exception to this is the wonderfully sexy and intelligent Dr. Ivan Rusilko who i've just been introduced through The Winemaker's Dinner prequel's R.S.V.P & No Reservations and the incredible first two chapters of The Winemaker's Dinner Appertizers. He's the sort of man that everyone wants to be with, stunningly beautiful and caring. A true gentleman and one that makes your heart melt as you go awww why can't I meet someone like him. Guys like him aren't real they can't possibly exist.
But wait Dr. Ivan Rusilko is real and come July 31st the whole world will be able to fall in love with the exceptionally beautiful and incredibly shy guy who has not only lent his image and name to the character in The Winemaker's Dinner but his own experiences also.
On July 31st prepare to fall in love with the hottest Dr in town.
I really enjoyed reading this book and finished it over two nights. I'm a big fan of erotic fiction and it did not disappoint in that regard! Part of the appeal of this book also stems from knowing it's partly authored as a type of memoir. That's kind of hot in, and of itself, and makes you ask questions you wouldn't normally ponder when reading erotic fiction! The love story was realistic enough, the lifestyle portrayed by the young couple was fairly upmarket and glitzy, compared to my level of normal. Sometimes, that level of fantasy can be overkill for me, but it was realistic enough to be considered believable. I so totally loved the unexpected turn of events nearing the end, and whilst I was secretly expecting something dramatic to happen, the strength of the surprise, well it actually took me by surprise. I eagerly await the next installment of this trilogy. What an amazing debut novel from Dr Ivan Rusilko, and co-authored by Everly Drummond. A great team effort! Well done guys
Yuck. Don't waste your money on buying it and don't waste your time on reading it. I thought, when I read the reviews, that it would be hot that this Dr used his life experiences to write the book but, to me, all it sounded like was a bunch of self-promoting. He talks about how wonderful he is throughout...and not in a good way. And the sad thing is it if this book had been listed as total fiction, it wouldn't be a bad read! But Dr. Rusilko's book sounds like a PR stunt, letting all the good readers know where to get botox in Miami. And as far as the part in the book where he talks about being President one day...OMG! Maybe of the Hair Club for Men! But of The United States of America...who do you think you are?!?!? Because you sound like a slime ball to me.
A man that is confident, secure, sexy, strong, handsome, smart and in control is HOT. A man that has to TELL you he is all those things is NOT.
The anticipation was killing me. I loved the book! Everly and Ivan did an excellent job! It was amazing reading the book and knowing that the man is real and a gentleman(making his parents proud. So enjoyed the way that the story flowed. I can't wait for the sequel! Move over Mr Grey there is a new man in town and he doesn't disappoint. Is there a doctor in the house?
There has already been buzz about The Winemaker’s Dinner. For starters, the book is highly unique in that is is a cross between a memoir and erotic fiction. My interest was piqued right there. However, from the minute I started reading, I was drawn into the story full of romance, heat, and glamour. I will tell you now, this book lives up to the hype, I loved reading The Winemaker’s Dinner: Appetizers and it is one of my favorite reads of the year.
Ivan and Jaden meet at a special dinner, the Winemaker’s Dinner. The event is a glitzy, high-class event that draws the creme de la creme of society and restrauteurs. They are instantly attracted to each other and a hot night, fueled by wine, ensues. When Jaden, a new head-chef at a Miami restaurant, realizes who Ivan is- renowned model, Mr USA, Dr, and it-man, she freaks out and runs away, without a word. Ivan, determined to get answers decides to pursue Jaden and see where the chemistry between them goes. Ivan woos Jaden, introduces her to important people, and develops a heated relationship with Jaden. As their relationship heats up, so does Jaden’s standing as a celebrity chef. With Ivan’s help and influence, all Jaden’s dreams begin to come true. But, soon the fame and opportunity begins to threaten their relationship.
I never give away spoilers, so I don’t want to get into specifics of this story. I do want to express why I loved this book though. The believability and realism of this story is part of the draw. Sometimes in romance novels, I roll my eyes at many of the intimate scenes, they seem too fantastical to be real. But in The Winemaker’s Dinner, the relationships, the characters, and the sex scenes are all believable and I buy it. More than just the intimate scenes, I understand the characters, their motivations, their faults. This is a contemporary romance, and I can easily identify with the characters.
I have already mentioned that The Winemaker’s Dinner: Appetizers is a unique type of read. I think that the memoir portion leads to the believability of the book. Also, the setting and premise is also unique. Jaden and Dr Ivan are not tortured characters with broken pasts. They are characters who come from average American homes and work hard to achieve their dreams and goals (hence their relatability). The setting is Miami, which is a sexy location in and of itself. There is a glamorous element to this book that I really love with the swanky parties, night clubs, and celebrity status.
Combining glitz, glamour, and hot romance, The Winemaker’s Dinner; Appetizers is one of the best romance novels of the year.
As to who would like this book: Romance readers! If you begin reading this book expecting a literary masterpiece of epic proportions, well you likely wont’ get what you expect. The Winemaker’s Dinner is a very well-written book, but the purpose is a romance story. After finishing The Winemaker’s Dinner, I was thrilled with the book, eager for more, and invested in the characters. I want to see what comes next for them, I want to go back and re-read the pre-quels. I will likely re-read The Winemaker’s Dinner multiple times. I love this book and I expect that many more readers will love it too. So, romance readers, this book is a “MUST-READ!”
What a wonderfully romantic novel! The intimate moments in the book were definately HAWT! but the book was about so much more than those moments. There are moments in this book that literally take your breath away. I had some minor issues with the book and I am sure that much will be made of them as the book continues along the path of its skyward trajectory, for instance- The endearment "Baby Girl" was so over used in the middle of the book that I had to stop reading for long moments to compose myself. I often found myslef thinking "If he calls her "baby girl" one more time I am going to scream!" But, these minor details are barely worth mentioning and may just be a personal preference. Overall, the hero was an incredible romantic, the heroine was strong willed and independent and the book was very well written- to get all three within one book seems to be a thing of rarity these days. There were so many times that I would stop just to re-read a line and let it sink in. Some of my favorites from the hero of the novel were:
"Ninety percent of the population spends time imagining their future and forgetting that now is where we live and breathe. The ten percent who live in the present are the ones who have stories to tell, the ones who live life the way it's meant to be lived. . . "
"You can't keep looking over your shoulder because your future is always in front of you. . . as it is now."
"So what about you. . . How many guys do I have to thank for passing up their chance to be with you?" (swoon!)
“I would give you anything your heart desires, even if it means your happiness over my own.”
I have already heard comparisons of this book to Fifty Shades of Grey and in my opinion it does a disservice to both books. They are both in a class by themselves. Although this book opens with a bang, literally, it has a slow burn and takes its time- it is definately to be savored. Fifty Shades of Grey was a hot fast read. Was one better than the other? If compared side by side perhaps someone can come up with a winner but to me they both stand alone in categories all their own.
Overall, this book is an encredibly enjoyable read. It does not disappoint! And the ending. . .(deep dreamy sigh) although you will probably see it coming too because let's face it- it's a trilogy and it's not destined to end with the first book, it still manages to surprise you and reach in and squeeze your heart.
P.S. I was totally cool with him calling her his Baby Girl then LOL!:-)
P.P.S What is WRONG with some of you reviewers? What do you have against Tantric, marathon-like hot monkey sex? Yes the sex scenes were refreshingly realistic but so is Tantric, marathon-like, hot monkey sex. Don't you remember? SMH. Well, there are two more books to go and I bet book two opens with hot monkey sex. Make up sex is the best! LMAO! Happy reading everyone!:-)
The Winemaker’s Dinner: Appetizers is co-written by Dr. Ivan Rusilko and Everly Drummond. This is the first installment to The Winemaker’s Fest, a three book series. Dr. Ivan Rusilko is a doctor, former Mr. USA, and Sports model, who is hoping to find that special someone that is his “miracle”. Jaden Thorne is a new head chef at a Miami restaurant. The two meet at the Winemaker’s Dinner. Sparks fly immediately which lead to one very hot steamy night between the two. After finding out who Ivan is, Jaden feels she could never live up to the type of woman that Ivan should be with. After proving that Jaden is everything that Ivan could ever want or need, a very heated, loving relationship develops. But can their relationship survive Jaden’s overnight jump to stardom as a famous chef?
This book has it all sex, romance, love, and a little angst….and the best part is that it is based on the REAL life of Dr. Ivan Rusilko, and ladies he is HOT!! Google him!! This book will make you laugh and cry. I absolutely loved that this was written through a man’s perspective, which made it more believable than some of the other erotica novels. (Don’t get me wrong I still love them!) This was by far one of my favorite books for 2012. I could not put the book down and read it in one night. There are 2 prequels, RSVP and No Reservations that I highly suggest you read to get some more background on both characters. All I can say, if this was just the appetizer, I look forward to the entree on 12/18/12! Kudos Ivan and Everly!!
Loved, loved, loved!! Ivan and Jaden rock! I can't get into book 2 quick enough. Great love story, steamy as hell, just everything you want in a romance.
From the very first page you are taken on an amazing journey that will incite your senses. A book has never ignited me sensually the way this one has. The authors pulled me in from page one and had me holding my breath until very last word. Their ability to mesh both fact with fiction introduces you into two very identifiable characters. I fell in love with both of them. I laughed, then I cried, I became mad and even huffed at least once. I found myself starting to talk to the characters. I wanted their relationship to work. I just couldn’t stop turning the pages.
What I found truly amazing was that the story flowed so seamlessly. The character development was impressive, the setting exquisite. Ivan’s love and respect for Jaden was bordering on being overly indulgent. But oh so dreamy!! Yes…you can sigh now. Unlike other book boyfriends, this man is real….I know can you believe it?? Do men like Ivan actually exist?
The use of food and wine in the story line makes it all the more appealing and sexy. After all, the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Jaden’s simple ways drive Ivan crazy. We all want to be Jaden in this book. Ivan’s expressions of love will captivate you. I’ve said this before but he’s an old soul that speaks to your heart. He seems to live every moment to the fullest and enjoys going to the extreme where his love is concerned. Jaden is a fragile young woman who blossoms with his indulgences. Ivan’s love for his family and Jaden left me with a wonderful taste in my mouth and a indelible smile on my face. As for Jaden, I would like to see her more attentive to Ivan but I think or better hope that will come in time.
Her unsure self becomes evident when she berates herself for thinking, that even with a few glasses of wine for encouragement, she doesn’t stand a chance of capturing the eye of the gorgeous man she’s been watching across the room. Her reaction to the female friend that joins his group on the balcony is a clue into her own character flaws. She talks herself into not approaching him because she feels she couldn’t hold this sex God’s attention for long.
As the story continues, Jaden decides to take a moment for herself and wonder into the beautiful gardens of the estate. The location of the dinner is very beautifully described. You can visualize the fountain she approaches and the carefree way she feels in being in the moment.
Enter Dr. Ivan Rusilko.
”Just then a tantalizing scent floated by on the breeze. Mmmmm…Jaden thought, her mind beginning to work. A hint of cigar and something deliciously male….”
At this point, I was ready to swoon. They begin a sensual dance that will leave you breathless.
‘You were watching me?” “No,” he corrected her with a hint of amusement. “I was watching you watch me. There’s a difference.”
He appears almost out of no where and he captivates her. Jaden is so drawn to him that she questions her own judgment. How could she fall so quickly for a man she just met. Their connection is hot and steamy from the moment they touch.
The sensual scene that entails will have you wishing that you were Jaden Thorne. Ivan certainly has a wonderful way with words.
“It’s funny how a feeling can take a few seconds or a few years to surface. When I first saw you, I knew there was something there, something I couldn’t put my finger on. It drove me wild.”
Their night of passion is a decadent meal of your senses. Chapter by chapter Ivan pursues the object of his love. As a music lover, I truly felt a connection with the chapters titles of songs that touched on the tone and feeling of each chapter. Each choice was passionate and sensuous.
This novel is for anyone who ever fell in love. A true romance, filled with anticipation, and a wonderful seduction …… Loved how the story was sweet with lots of spicy….couldn’t wait for Entrée to be served.
From the first introduction to our fabulous authors and the personal/fictional storyline, as a bit of a romantic, no matter how lusciously attractive and intelligent the author/main character is and how fabulously talented and personable the co-author is, I've been a cheerleader of team I-J. One hopes that such an enduring, selfless love exists and can survive life's various challenges. This book is more than a romance erotica novel but as well a drama. It reflects challenges those in relationships and those searching for that relationship are facing in today's world while also being a timeless issue of, once you find the “perfect” one, growing with each other and not separately. It's been a fun ride and with great anticipation I prepared to step through the wardrobe, slip on the magic ring, climb aboard the train, slip into the canoe all which takes you on a fabulous journey of endless possibilities. I'm a fan of mystery/intrigue and although the first in this trilogy has exceeded its reflection of skill and passion and romance, I look forward most anxiously toward the second installment as if reading it as soon as possible will give physical support to a budding commitment – literary version of fertilizing the garden. Will their love be enough? Will they remain together? If not, can they champion over the heartbreak enough to continue the search for the miracle of a relationship that can last all . . . the perfect modern day Princess Bride tale or the Lady and the Hawke. Or is it doomed to a more tragic Wuthering Heights or Rebecca (well, perhaps not so morose)? Hope is an unconditional element as long as even the wisp of faith resides in your heart. I fell in love with all of the characters and can’t wait to follow them on this journey. I look forward to hearing more about the development of book two and continue to be intrigued by the real vs. fictional enigma which lurks like the elephant in the room with a too small doorway and all trying to figure out how the smack it got there. I also look forward to the music lists and reveling in familiar, newly introduced and the what-the-heck selections. And, as much as I encourage friends/readers to be enveloped into this trilogy, I also encourage them to follow the blogs and posts of The Winemaker’s Dinner as well as the authors on FB and the corresponding websites - they are as witty and inspiring as the book itself. Pride and excitement in no small measure are being experienced, I’m sure, by the authors and great marketing team, the publishers and their friends and families as they are living through this whirlwind. Congrats, guys! :)
WOW, I seriously can not write this review without smiling. I swear I had a smile on my face the whole time I was reading this book. I can't wrap my mind around the fact that this book is some what of a memoir of Dr Ivans life. The way Dr. Ivan is portrayed in this novel will have women everywhere going CRAZY. I always say "why aren't men in real life like the men from my novels?". Well Dr. Ivan *HELLO* Are you giving a seminar on "How to Treat a Woman" He is the perfect guy and this book is a must read.
Love the chemistry between Jaden and Ivan, there was some much passion between these two, they fit together perfectly. Not once did I say " I can't see these two together" I loved the fact that Ivan only had eyes for Jaden and made her feel like she was the only girl in the world (hehe) Jaden an up and coming Chef meets Dr. Ivan at a special event The Winemakers Dinner. Not able to keep their eyes off each other they soon end up having a one night stand. Ivan ends up wooing Jaden and her life is turned upside down. With help from Ivan, Jadens dreams are coming true, but will this be enough to keep their relationship strong?
I would recommend to this to anyone looking for a good read with a sexy hero who's not ashamed to wear his heart on his sleeves. Ivan Rusilko, and Everly Drummond has done a wonderful job with this novel and I can't wait for the next book in this series.
Fav Quotes
“Were you watching me?” “No. I was watching you watch me. There’s a difference.”
“Umm…we’re not quite ready to leave yet. My date wants to look for sea turtles,”
“Wait, let me finish,” he interrupted, silencing her by gently pressing the tip of his finger to her lips. “I think love is a bullshit word. How can four letters strung together represent what happens when two beings who were destined to be together find each other and take their places alongside one another? That, in my mind, isn’t love. It’s a miracle.”
“I would give you anything your heart desires, even if it means your happiness over my own.”
I was intrigued with the premise of a beautiful looking man writing a fictional erotic story starring himself. Have you Googled this guy? He is gorgeous! I had high hopes, especially since it is co-written by an already established erotic author. But, I was disappointed in the lack of attention to detail that pulls a reader into the story. It is easy to get a picture of what Ivan looks like since you can actually see the real person on the internet before reading the book, but as far as Jaden’s appearance, it’s hardly described. There were too many parts in the book that were distracting and all I could do was ask myself, “Really? That’s a little unbelievable.” Most of the book is a little too coincidental to take seriously.
The story just kept reiterating how great this guy is. I mean, he is perfect at EVERYTHING (including letting the reader know he is well endowed and fantastic in bed). If I was unmarried, and had the opportunity, would I sleep with him? Probably. If I was unmarried and had the opportunity, would I DATE him? No. There were a lot of things about the character/real man that were unappealing to me. Without giving away too much of the story, he used a lot of cliché quotes when trying to be romantic (Live, Laugh, Love type of quotes). He used the endearment “Girl” constantly! The only people that can get away with calling me that term are my female friends and male gay friends. It drove me crazy to read it in every conversation the couple had. I have a new appreciation for my husband after reading this story.
It wasn’t an awful first book from this doctor/body builder/Mr. USA/hockey player/model/photographer/amateur chef/philanthropist/author, but I don’t think I will read the other two books in the Trilogy if they are exactly like this with only location changes.
