Every October, the streets of Hollow’s Gulch echo with the roar of his motorcycle. Pumpkinhead—the cursed rider with a lantern for a head—serves Lord Valek, the Taker of Eyes, ferrying sacrifices to keep the veil between the living and the dead intact.
But this year, something changes. Ravenna Crowhurst was meant to be taken. Instead, she is spared.
Now the balance is broken, the Harvester is furious, and Ravenna is caught in a deadly choice between the rider who defies his curse for her… and the dark lord who wants her eyes as his prize.

G.M. Draevyn, 29, resides in the Midwest and draws inspiration from her background working in correctional settings, where proximity to danger sharpened her fascination with the darker sides of human nature. By day she keeps the mail flowing, but her true obsession lies in storytelling. Crafting unsettling, emotional narratives that blur the line between love and ruin.
Her constant companion is Arthur, a two-year-old Cairn Terrier/Lhasa Apso who appears in her debut novel Where The Iris Withered as a familiar friend named "Toad." More than a pet, Arthur is her anchor and the reason she kept fighting when life grew heavy.
When she isn't writing, Draevyn finds solace in reading, taxonomy art, true crime, horror, and the paranormal. Her shelves hold favorites like H.D. Carlton's Does It Hurt, while she names Nick Roberts, author of The Exorcist House, as her top author to date.
This was a great read and definitely fit the spooky season vibe I was looking for. Ravenna is strong willed and curious mostly about the towns curse. She chooses to stay in the graveyard on the night of the harvest while everyone else chose to hide in their homes. Little does she know that she is the witch that will be the curses undoing. She not only faces the monster the town fears she entrances him. Pumpkinhead claims Ravenna as his and tries to protect her against all the hell that is coming for her. She learns that she in the balance and the harvester is after her. While trying to escape the harvester and his demons Ravenna learns she has a flame of her own. Together Pumpkinhead and Ravenna choose to face the harvester, knowing he will hunt Ravenna until he has her.
Been in a reading funk, so sticking to novellas and docuseries. Pumpkinhead was actually a vibe though! Spice was 🔥, especially with Pumpkinhead and Valek. At first, I was like, “Girl, what?” but then it got real intriguing. Only thing, I was kinda confused about what happens to Pumpkinhead after the harvest. Does he go back to somewhere? The epilogue left me wanting more. But overall? Loved the ride-off-into-the-night energy.
1.5 Sadly, I'm not a fan of smut without a good story behind it. I would have loved to know a little more of Ranenna's story. Who was she? Why was she chosen? Why her attraction or curiosity towards Pumpkin Head?.... I liked Pumpkin head. If you are looking for a short, smut read, this is for you!!
Not a bad storyline for a novella. Read it in a few hours. 2nd books I've read from this author. Love how her mind works! Can't wait to see what's next.
Honestly I loved this book! It was the perfect book to help get started to reading my spooky smutty books for October lol I’ve already saved the Authors other book on ku lol
Read this during my tattoo appointment and it was such a vibe for Halloween! I had a hard time keeping a straight face during a couple scenes 🥵 overall great spicy monster love story, as with most novellas though it left me wanting just a little bit more.
